  1. Here ya go, folks! First impressions: Captain America's and Bucky's backpack piece has a peg, so they can carry their shields on their backs! Both Cap masks look fine, though I'm not sure why there are two? Not that I'm complaining. The paint on Human Torch is very subtle - it shows up much better in the pics than in person. Also, they're getting plenty of use out of the new flame-launching piece. It looks like there is a slot for a repulsor-ray-blasting hand for the Modular Iron Man (top right), but mine didn't come with one. We'll have to see if this is the way they all are, or if I got a bad one. Also, I really like both of the Tony Stark hairpieces!
  2. They're handing out the free minimates at the DST booth, on the exhibition floor. It's not far from the DC booth, if I remember right. But since they do the hand out at noon, you might have missed today's 'mate!
  3. What's even weirder, this song came out on the soundtrack for (are you sitting down?).... Batman and Robin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_End_Is_th...ning_Is_the_End But yeah, the lyrics definitely do match up to Watchmen. From now on, I'll think of it as 'the great song from the superb Watchmen trailer' and not 'the great song from the worst comic book movie ever'!
  4. I can tell you I just bought both Minimate sets at the con for $16 each, with tax. Don't know about the ML sets, though.
  5. Not sure if I can make the Friday night meetup, but I'll definitely be at the panel on Saturday!
  6. I've been to two midnight premieres. The Phantom Menace, and Dick Tracy. For Tracy, everyone was hoping to see another Tim Burton Batman movie - boy were we disappointed. Your ticket was a special Dick Tracy t-shirt with the image of a movie ticket (natch) on the front. So imagine a theater half-full of small-town Iowa's geekiest kids, all wearing the same t-shirt. Bullies would have had a field day, if they had known about it! As far as Phantom Menace goes, the first thing I said at 2 in the morning when the movie was done, was, "that was weird." I tried all that summer to love that film, but it never came together for me. My days of midnight premieres are behind me; I'd much rather go to a weekend matinee. But I will say that Dark Knight is my most anticipated movie of '08! Also, the title of this thread would make for a great talk show.
  7. I have a feeling they'll return to Wolverine soon. I could see them doing his brown outfit with sculpted mask 'wings', then later on releasing the same sculpt as a redo of the yellow costume. And yeah, I'm definitely returning that $20 Spidey Mugg. But the Indiana Jones ones look tempting.
  8. I bought the Spider-Man from Borders (at $20 - ouch!) about a week ago, and I gotta say, he's just not growing on me. I think the Marvel ones get significantly better with wave 2 and later, but I just don't see myself getting into this line. I will, however, definitely get a Galactus, and a Sentinel if they make one, as a cheapo substitute for the Max statues.
  9. How do you make a Fezzik? Easy! Do him as a 3" with a bulky jacket, like Kingpin. Heck, there's probably several medieval-style pieces they could borrow from the whole LOTR line to flesh out a Princess Bride set.
  10. I was one of the few who was really looking forward to the Kellogg's Cereal Minimates. You just know Tony the Tiger is a Skrull.
  11. I've seen this on a shelf, and I really like it. The head attaches magnetically, so it can be turned around or removed completely! If the price drops even more, I may pick one up, as I love the Lego Star Wars game and I'm fond of the X-Wing outfit.
  12. I've got to go with orange vest Marty McFly, because I've longed for BTTF action figures since 1985, and they came along after I had already been collecting Minimates for a good year or so. When I first saw those pics of the BTTF box set, I literally fell off my stool. I knew then I had backed the right horse with Minimates, and they haven't let me down since! Except for Zombie Wolverine. Him.... not so much.
  13. I've signed up to volunteer all four days, so expect to see me there! I won't know what my volunteer shifts will be until I check in on the first day, though. Hey, it'd be great to end up volunteering for a Minimates panel! Also, we ought to plan a San Diego meetup for all us Multiversers!
  14. Another fantastic Trek wave that I'll be adding to my collection. While I'm not jazzed about getting ANOTHER Kirk, I do understand that Kirk sells, and all the Kirk variants have more or less been worthwhile. I love the little buggers!
  15. Welcome! And here's the sum total of my knowledge of German: Schloss! Gluhwein! Reeperbahn! Vo ist sie hauptbahnhof? Knight Rider!
  16. Well, since it's Lego, you could always take the TIE parts and flesh out other parts of the set. Can I also just say, this set is insanely, truly awesome, and if there were only one Lego System set to own, this would be it. Someone ought to take that basic design and make a Hasbro-scale version!
  17. I'm surprised no one's commented on the Season 4 cliffhanger! I loved it, and could see how it would have worked as the ending to the series, though I'm glad we're getting 12 (or more?) more episodes. Thoughts on the big reveal?
  18. Whoah, misordered movie reels, eh? That happened to me once in the theater, when I went to see Twelve Monkeys. Talk about a movie that NEEDS to be seen with all the scenes in the proper order! Oh, and just so I'm not off topic, HULK SMASH!
  19. Love the new logo! But I guess those random movie quotes are gone now?
  20. Are people having success printing on America-style 8.5 x 11 inch paper, like TBT! suggested? Would love to see some pics!
  21. All you block figure fans should get a kick out of this. http://www.cubeecraft.com/ I love the Indy and the ? Block! Haven't tried any, particularly since I'd have to hunt down A4 sized paper. Maybe some of our UK based members can give it a crack and post pics?
  22. Can someone explain the penny and t-rex to me, and how they relate to Batman? Also, Matt, just curious, what state to you live in that doesn't have a Target?
  23. Yeah, those look a LOT like Superhero Squad. Probably just one POA away from a lawsuit! The Batcave set looks promising, but might need to be repainted to tone down the neon colors.
  24. I'm by no means a big gamer, but I do love Lego Star Wars on my Wii. Since I have so little time for gaming, by the time I finish Star Wars, Indy and Batman will probably be in the clearance rack!
  25. That whole thing was amazing! Loved the Han & Chewie in the mirror!
