  1. But that does put them in scale with DST's Star Trek line? Does it?
  2. Oh yeah, sign me up for animated characters! As MrPL said, particularly those characters that were unique to the animated series. Although I wouldn't mind pleasant, kid-friendly versions of the big three.
  3. Play sets. Can't think of any miniMate series that cries out more for play sets.
  4. So... can any one grab a quick scan of Ma Hunkel under the mask? Please?
  5. I hear ya, MrPL. Might even have to buy two sets, there's so many great add-ons here.
  6. Yikes. All the Suncoasts in my area have shut down. Wonder if they will be at the other FYE affiliates -- umm, what are they again? Sam Goody? Despite that, this is good, good news! Glad to see miniMates sneaking back into mainstream sales. The new kind of 4-pack and 5-pack packaging seems to have helped. It also bodes well for army-building packs in the future.
  7. That's a valid point, Cyc, but it doesn't hurt to leave them in the thread. It might help newbies understand that some of the Target and/or TRU releases are new characters. Thanks for this, Ady. I've been struggling to keep the differences sorted out. Ady, it might be worth stating, after each description, whether popular opinion considers each a variant, factory run, or new character. Also, might you include the Series 12 / 4-pack Capt America as well? For a while there, I couldn't keep track if the 4-pack version matched Series 12 or the DVD. getting old, i know...
  8. You know, I try to play it cool, but really I'm just a babe in this toy-collecting forest. What the heck does "BAF" mean? Nice heads-up though. This one is for you, Mattallica!
  9. My local TRU has restocked the 4-packs at least two times. The Darktide boxes and SFII mates are just kind of filling the space, however.
  10. So... should she be classified as a variant figure (like blue Iceman) or just a second factory run (like DVD Hulk)?
  11. Other than my weeping wallet, my habits shouldn't change too much. I've never tried to complete the 2" line, I generally just buy most of the minimates... maybe 90%. Except for a few specialities items like the Logo Mates. So, for now, I'll be proceeding as normal and my kids will just have to eat fewer meals.
  12. And the winners are.... 1. JOHN STEWART - GREEN LANTERN 2. Modern Cylon Centurain 3. Blue Iceman Honorable Mention goes to the Red Cross logo mate and Bad Apple Comics for supporting the cause. Congratulations to John for your title as best miniMate of 2006, winning by a huge margin of popular vote. Not an easy feat for a single representative of DC Comics and it certainly bodes well for the upcoming DC Direct miniMates. The following minis also placed in the top ten: 4. Emerald City Comicon - blue 5. Sentry (imprisoned) 6. Emerald City Comicon - green 7. Kitty Pryde (Astonishing X-Men) 8. Classic Cylon Centurian 9. Cyclops (Astonishing X-Men) 10. Morrigan Honestly, not a bad year in all and 2007 promises even more excitement.
  13. Mayhap one should think of this as a Thor wave, rather than an Avengers wave. There was certainly enough clamoring for Thor.
  14. Yeah, been waiting for these to be released. Thanks for the reminder, Shanester.
  15. All righty, the got the side of beef into the set! A box set is a great idea, the perfect way to sell these guys. Oddly enough, this is definitely on my "must buy" list. huh. Any one have a link to a bigger picture?
  16. A fine, fine wave all told. While there was no Hawkeye, I can be patient. And I did get Quicksilver, something I certainly was not expecting! And dang Ady, those have got to be the biggest miniMate pics I've ever downloaded...
  17. Hoody-hoo! I dared not hope, but my unspoken dream has borne fruit -- Quicksilver! [does the Happy Cappy dance] You not, not only that, but the publicity stills being released are exceptional this time around.
  18. Yay! Glad to know the Great White North hasn't consumed you, nor the kids.
  19. And accessories, accessories. Yeah! Thor is sweet, bearded Thor a reasonable variant -- see, constant years of whining in Chuck's ear does eventually pay off.
  20. Ady! And now you've got DSTChuck to post in your forum! You've not only made the big time, you're a playa! Congrats. And thank you DST for this line-up. I'm thrilled to see that not only are they making Thor, but the attention and detail that went into him bodes well for the future of Marvel miniMates.
  21. Come on GL Corps! Yeah! And the Hawks, too! Can't wait, can't wait... Hmm -- Kilowog seems to be 2.5" And who said DC won't dive into the obscure character? Ma Hunkel? Who the devil is he?
  22. All righty, ladies, gentlemen and admin! Today is the last day to get your vote in, if you haven't already. Or to update a prior ballot if you want to vote for the Marvel Knights releases from Target. Be a part of history and help decide the best, the coolest miniMates in recent memory.
  23. Alpheon, the announced line-up is: Capt Pike & Orion Slave Girl Capt Kirk & Mr Spock Scotty & Dr McCoy chase: Dress Uniform McCoy I assume the chase McCoy goes with Scotty.
  24. cdubya - Can you give us a comparison pic of the AMT/ERTL model? I'm thinking about ordering the command bridge model. It looked about right to fit the new 2" Trek Minimates. It would be fun to put together while I await these new Trek Minimates! (Yeah, yeah, I'm supposed to be on a Minimate free hiatus. But all this great news is pulling me back in!) And welcome back, JP! cdubya, or any one, I second JP's request. Can we get more details and/or pics of both the bridge model and the Galileo? (I thought Playmates stuff was 5"?)
  25. :mutter: And here I was going to pawn mine off on Fujis... Actually, to any and all interested, it's actually a fun purchase, even if it doesn't fit 2" mates exactly. Very useful for any one who collects mini figs.
