  1. Sorry, but it seems that boycotting TRU is the absolute worst idea in this discussion. Firstly, as BHM as so aptly indicated, TRU is giving life to a line that was otherwise very limited in its distribution. So far, TRU has given us multiple variants of figures that were previously not available anywhere else. Indeed, each variant has seemingly been more desired than the last (excluding the Wolverine Origins wave). As long as these keep selling and TRU continues to see the benefit of keeping Minimate figures in-stock then we should expect to see DST producing newer waves and variants. One should also consider that this is still a learning experience, if you truly desire a Bullseye/Moonstone set - DST/TRU will likely make sure one is available, as we saw with the once harder to find Union Jack/Wonder Man set. As someone that has volunteered to help some of our overseas members, I can vouch for helping many different TRU's clear some space and bring in more stock. If yours has become overfilled with older stock, maybe it's time to start working the various threads and contacting some of our other members to see if its possible to move some product and hook some international members up. By the same token, if our international members are looking for mates - let some of the US members know so that we can help. Heck, if you know the comic owner for your area and they're trying to get MM stock into the store, many of us have been able to obtain entire waves and would be more than willing to help these stores obtain stock to sell in other areas of the world. I'm not attempting to attack anyone that feels frustrated (as I've been there before myself) but let's work to find inventive ways of making sure others can enjoy this wonderful addiction and keep these new figures coming to TRU in droves. The last thing we want is to see the line stagnant and TRU drop all of the various MM lines (including Marvel, BSG, Ghostbusters, T2 and anything else that may be in the works).
  2. I stopped at three TRU's on Friday and was able to procure almost all of the GB mates as well as 1 BE/MS set. Surprising that one of the three didn't even have Ghostbusters out at all and didn't seem to be carrying the 3rd Marvel wave.
  3. Yes! Sorry, but I could already see the Red Superman variant pack. How has DC Direct not had protestors with pitchforks and torches yet? It's funny how some of these companies continually look for altered versions of the minimate concept rather than stick with the figure that has proven it's profitability. DC for example has licensed their likenesses to Lego, Kubrick, Q-Blox (for the Dark Knight), Hot Toys and their own internal DC Direct Pocket Heroes - all based upon the 2"-3" line. While Lego's, Kubrick's and Hot Toys line are different, Pocket Heroes and Q-Blox were MM wannabe's. With all they invested in these lines, one has to wonder if they're investments would have been better suited just licensing the MM style. Shame, I would have liked to have seen a further expansion into the DC Universe.
  4. I think it was mentioned before, but be sure to drop TRU a line asking them to expand into Star Trek Minimates. We the success they've seen with Marvel, T2, and hopefully BSG and Ghostbusters, it seems that they are very interested in supporting this line. Especially as materials become more costly, getting two characters with every purchase is only going to show these as being a better value to the consumer. As for the ST movie figures, was I the only one that didn't care for the quality of the molds? I was really excited for the line but after seeing the articulation and their inability to capture the characters likeness, I just couldn't get into the line. Indeed, the only figure I even kind of wanted was the "Old Spock" figure, which seems to be the only missing now. However, if the Enterprise ever gets a price reduction, I may have to set that up next to my old TNG 1701-D Playmates ship.
  5. Don't worry, you're not the only lacking representation - just look at the amount of deceased individuals or cartoon characters that come out to vote every November, invalidating legitimate votes......
  6. Happy July 4th to my American brothers and sisters! Here's hoping for the continued Freedom and Independence that resulted from the blood, sweat and tears of our Armed Forces. Hoo-Rah! PS - I'm pretty sure the comedy gold was from William Clinton and his always entertaining Oval Office fiasco's....or anything done by Jimmy Carter....
  7. That's awesome news man. Congrats!
  8. When I picked up my set yesterday, I had a stack of minimates to check out with. The funny thing is, the woman in front of me started asking me questions and picked up one of the BSG mates to check out. The cashier even started questioning me about them and what they were. Who knows, maybe my sale helped create a new fan or two!
  9. Found all but the Bullseye/Moonstone set between two of the TRU's I stopped at. At this point, it appears that I may be the only member not actively seeking this set out. I was also was able to find the entire BSG wave . No luck with Ghostbusters - has anyone seen these at a TRU yet?
  10. Loving the fact that Captain Mar-Vell is going to be minimate-ized! Have to admit that I'm kind of pulling for Genis but either would be fine with me. Now what's it going to take to get a Wendell Vaughn Quasar and Darkhawk?
  11. Happy Birthday, hope it was filled with family, friends and lots of cake.
  12. Always glad to see the return of football. Currently, I'm streaming the Alouettes/Stampeders game via ESPN 360. It's actually turning out to be a pretty good game (as of half-time).
  13. Just wanted to wish any of our Canadian posters a Happy Canada Day! Enjoy the beginning of the 2009 CFL season!
  14. As a fan of the Fett, I think it largely comes down to his bad-assery followed by the fact he doesn't have to answer to anyone. After all, this is a guy that Han Solo feared and had the respect of the Empire. In a galaxy based upon the Empire and Republic, being a guy not beholden to either certainly has it's advantages and it's downfalls. **Note - I cannot speak for other Star Wars fans, only myself......
  15. Seconded! Also count me in with the classic T-Bolts request as I would love mates of Mach 5/Beetle and Citizen V/Baron Zemo.
  16. Considering the majority of the SuperPowers line is based upon characters that are in the public domain, they likely wouldn't need a deal to do these - aside from having them lined up with the SuperPowers title. I asked DST if they've ever looked at public domain characters for minimates and got a negative response. However, if they could work with Dynamite, I would love to see Zorro, the Lone Ranger, Buck Rogers (great comic so far) and the upcoming Green Hornet worked into this deal as well.
  17. Checked my closest TRU today and I had no luck with any of the most recent wave. It looks like they are still strongly stocked with the Heroes and Villains wave. Hopefully I'll be able to check a couple of different TRU's next weekend.
  18. Well, I have to admit that I'm pretty excited about this news. Even though they've been re-worked since the initial "C3" styled prototypes were shown. Now if we could just get those Doctor Who mates.....
  19. Posted earlier, but ask for product number 244964. That's the easier way rather than the sku # since the product number identifies them in the TRU system as Terminator minimates whereas the sku # for each package would be different. I know this is the wrong forum but were the Moonstone/Bullseye packs in stock as well? Nope, both TRU's I stopped at still had the Wolverine movie and Heroes and Villains waves. I'm hoping that this doesn't prevent the various TRU's I stop at from getting the following Marvel waves, as one of them is packed with Heroes and Villains sets that appear to be pegwarming......
  20. Feels good don't it? Yes, yes it does. Although, you should have seen the "you've got to be kidding me" look my wife gave me.
  21. I stopped at a couple of the TRU's near Pittsburgh and found that they had just stocked these. It's the first time that I actually cleared TRU completely out of a wave
  22. If DST were so inclined, they could easily get a few mates out by the time the DVD release is ready to roll. Given the success of this film (which I've now seen twice), I think people are going to be watching for the next Trek film and that it's popularity could continue at a consistent or near consistent level until then. DST hasn't even scratched the surface of the minimates that are available to them to produce with a lot of great characters and great franchises left to create. Who knows, maybe DST has seen the recent success of the movie and is actively working on the licensing agreement with Paramount. Not saying that's the case but it would seem that the movie popularity was having an effect upon the sales of Trek related merchandise.
  23. Officially, within the DCU, the character would be called Captain Marvel. However, due to copyright issues, DC can't release a title with that name - hence the Shazam! title we've grown accustomed to seeing (in addition to the fact Capt. Marvel is considered a fair use property in some countries - like the UK where we got Miracle Man/Marvel Man). I would suggest the Captain Marvel (Shazam!) title to reference the character. Then again, either one would be technically correct.
