  1. Same problem here. I'm loath to really force them in, though, because I keep my 'mates in utility storage boxes, which works much like the collector cases of yore. He won't fit with his wings on. Does anyone know how difficult it is to get the wings off once they're on securely?
  2. These are great. The Gaius with glasses face looks like it would be good for a Clark Kent custom, if one can accept Clark with red eyes. And the Roslin body might make for a good Lois Lane.
  3. I was planning to use the Montoya Question to customize a Vic Question, but I made a placeholder last night (using a different coat) that turned out so well I may just keep it. I'll post pics and the recipe as soon as I take them. Oh, I also wanted to add, as far as modern box sets go, that I couldn't think of anything much better then what lastmaximal came up with, with perhaps a few modifications here and there (primarily Red Robin for the Red Hood in the Countdown box), so I bow to him. Bravo to you, sir!
  4. See, I'm a current age collector. I would be really pissed if all that was offered was GA and SA stuff. I like Modern costumes and figures, and I would want them to be released. And I did put in a Veritgo set. Can't get more modern then that! That's why I think they should release box-sets of individual characters. Now that would be sweet. I'm still putting some thought into what I would do for Modern Age stuff (it will probably keep me up tonight), so I see your point. Most of my thinking is wanting to fill out lineups and collections the best way possible. So are you the guy that wants the Montoya Question ahead of Vic Sage?
  5. Unfortunately, if DCD does this, they probably will feel the need to throw Superman and Batman into every set possible. It's just what they do. I don't think they would grasp the fact that most of us want as many different characters as possible, not just variations on those two. Anyway, my suggestions, which modify some of those already posted: JLofA: Martian Manhunter, Black Canary, Elongated man, Firestorm, Zatanna (completes the Satellite era team); JSA: Green Lantern, Hourman, Dr Mid-Nite, Starman, The Atom (all GA versions); Teen Titans: Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Changeling, Aqualad, Speedy (completes the NTT and offers the SA TT); Vertigo: Dream, Death, Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, Animal Man; New Gods (New Genesis): Orion, Mr. Miracle, Big Barda, Lightray, Highfather; New Gods (Apokalips): Darkseid, Desaad, Granny Goodnes, Kalibak, Verminn Vundibar (a personal favorite!); Batman's Rogues Gallery: Two Face, Riddler, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Ras Al Gul; Flash's Rogues Gallery: Mirror master, Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, Prof. Zoom, Weather Wizard; Showcase (characters that 1st appeared in Showcase): Atom, Adam Strange, Creeper, Hawk & Dove That's all I've got for now.
  6. There's always the possibility that DCD is stoking the fires of the market by suggesting that these are done, then swooping in to "save us" in the end.
  7. I started a topic about this under the "future licenses" section. Here's what I wrote there: I really was hoping for Lost Minimates. Kubricks just won't cut it. I guess I should be glad they're not Shockinis, at least. These look pretty terrible. I stared at this for about a minute wondering "where's Jack?" before I realized that what I took to be Jin was, in fact, Jack.
  8. Whoops. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll jump over there. Still finding my way around here....
  9. I loved this show, but thanks to you I now have that annoying themetune running round my head. I think the Variant should be BlueMan group Tobias though "[Tobias has painted himself blue] Tobias Funke: I blue myself. Michael Bluth: There has got to be a better way to say that. " T. That's going to be in Wave 2 And I like that song!

  11. I totally agree, however when he does show-up (and you know he will given time) he had better come with a "classic" Sabretooth (unbelievably still missing). This is about the only way I could stomach another Wolvie. even if he came with Dedpool or Gambit? I second the nomination of of Classic Sabretooth ahead of Deadpool and Gambit. It just makes the most sense.
  12. I just spent the weekend rewatching Arrested Development, and I would LOOOOOOOOVE some minimates! Even my wife would like to see these! Series 1: Michael and GOB Bluth George Michael Bluth and Maybe Funke (Variant: Banana Stand George Michael!) Buster and Lucielle Bluth Lindsay and Tobias Funke
  13. Wolverine doesn't get battle damaged; he GIVES the battle damage.
  14. Well, Ultimates sells like 100,000 copies an issue, so I don't think it's a long shot at all. If anything, is shocking they haven't made them yet.
  15. I mailed this a couple days ago. It's a little more strident, in that I threaten to not buy any more DCD products, but my tone is still respectful. I think it's okay to let them know how strongly you feel, as long as you're not saying "You jerks! I'm not buying your #@!%$ toys anymore!" Hello: I have been a loyal DC Direct customer since your beginning, with Wonder Woman and Swamp Thing (okay, I skipped the Sandman); however, I am very disappointed in the news that DC Minimates may be ending, so much so that I will not be buying another DC Direct product if this is the case. Minimates are one of the most unique collectibles available, and Art Asylum has done an amazing job in producing these. Please don't let this be the end; there's still to many great characters to go! Thanks, Ken Raining
  16. So after much internal debating, I've narrowed it down to: Mr. Miracle/Big Barda Dr. Mid-Nite/Hourman Martian Manhunter/ Firestorm Black Canary/ Huntress Which leaves no room for the Atom, Two Face, or Alan Scott, all of whom I'd also say are essential. So let's add: The Atom/ Adam Strange Two Face/ Modern Robin Alan Scott GL/ Solomon Grundy Orion/Lightray And hell, we might as well throw in an exclusive too, right? Which would be: Animal Man Throw in a Vertigo Box set: Sandman Death Swamp Thing John Constantine ...and I'd at least be appeased, if not satisfied.
  17. Captain Marvel should come with Adam Warlock for a Jim Starlin/ 70's Cosmic Marvel dream set. Then they can fight Thanos! Warlock also has a great natural variant, in that you can do the 70's look (the red costume over his orange body) or the Infinity Watch look (with a black leotard under the red costume). I'd prefer Herc to come with the Black Widow, for some Champions action. Hey, they did the Defenders.... I'd like to see them follow up Nova and Gamora with an Annihilation box. The only drawback: the character I'd want most in that set, Quasar, was not in his classic togs in the series. Also: Squadron Supreme box set! Hyperion, Nighthawk, Power Princess, Spectrum, and the Whizzer!
  18. I don't really think that character selection was all that big a problem-- or at least I didn't before yesterday. Most collectors like variety, and having characters like Ambush Bug that haven't made it to three dimensions anywhere else can be a big plus. That being said, it seems like a big drawback now, when we've got a Ma Hunkle Mate but not Black Canary. Honestly, I think comedian is right-- they just don't know what they're doing over there.
  19. Picked up Hawkeye/Vision and Ultron/Ms. Marvel on my lunch hour. It's killing me, not being able to open them yet! I don't usually buy the X-Men sets, but I don't know that I can pass Archangel up. Shame about the wings, though. I hope that this isn't the case with the variant, so that a custom Angel is still possible.
  20. This is almost exactly whom I would choose, though I'd probably sub the Shade for another JSAer (Black Canary? Green Lantern?).
  21. I may be the only one, but personally I'm most excited by Spymaster. I always thought he was a very cool character (although a SPY running around in bright blue and yellow tights doesn't make a whole lot of sense...) and I can't believe they're making him. I thought Taskmaster was as obscure as they would get!
  22. Hey there, it's my first post. I've also been trying to track down Nick Fury, with much difficulty. I finally found him for a really good price here: http://www.brianstoys.com/store/cart.aspx He hasn't arrived yet, so I'm a little worried this may be one of those "mistakenly not listed as out of stock." By the way, SHIELD agents normally wear blue and red uniforms, not blue and white. So it's kinda an inaccurate custom.
