  1. AFX had a sale last night on the LCS set, $76 shipped... YAY! Now I have my Mutagen Raph. F**K! The purchase triggered a fraud alert on my card (does anyone else have a problem with AFX?) so my order was canceled... oh well, back to checking eBay everyday... Have some more customs: It’s Tatsu (who I know should be all Black, or Black/Dark Deep Red-Brown depending on the source photo, but while painting I liked the white/black combo too much to paint over), Super Shredder, and of course Vanilla Ice.
  2. Head: I believe it’s Norman Osborn (one of the not cackling ones) but I pulled it out of my parts bin so I’m not 100% on who it is. (FAKE EDIT: yep, It’s Norman, this one: http://minimatedatabase.com/acc.php?i=965&n=Norman+Osborne+Head HAIL IVAN!) Helmet: has to be cut to reveal the eyes, just carefully carve a little out with an exacto until it’s too your liking Chest: Ultimate Hulk (the one under the powerhouse of course) Arms: Any flesh colored arms (those are Tinker Bell’s) Skirt: Player 2 M.Bison (on backwards to hid the buckle and other detail) Upper Legs: You’ll need to use a blow dryer to swap any black legs at the knee with Shredder’s, as his lower legs are a solid piece (the ones pictured are Big Time Spider-man’s, I’ve since switched to the newer Ultimate Wolverine’s) Cape and Gloves: Modern Shredder obviously.
  3. BAH! Why isn’t anyone selling Mutagen Raph on eBay!?! After getting Leo and seeing him next to Mikey I find them too cool not to have a set and I can’t justify $92 to buy a case. EDIT: Oh, so I’m not not just bitching in this post, have some quick customs: I don’t like Modern April or Shredder, so I did my best to recreate their 80’s looks (man, yellow is a SUPER hard to find color for minimates) I also needed to make Professor Perry from TMNT2:tSotO because for the last 23 years anytime I’m down to the last of something I hold it up and say “Well... you’re the last one, aren’t you?”, I need a minimate to remind me of that scene, man. (you can pretend he’s Baxter Stockman if you want, even if he’s not African-American or a Fly, but he’s Professor Perry)
  4. I’d honestly be very surprised if Thor 3 (sorry “Thor: Ragnarok”) didn’t have a “ghost” Friga, her appearing in Loki’s cell as either a Loki created illusion or projecting herself seemed to foreshadow it...dosen’t mean we’d get a minimate, but it seems fairly likely she could come back if they wanted her to.
  5. NECA found a way, YOU can find a way...
  6. I’m rarely disappointed by Monster High... I think Mattel just can’t figure out how to sell Action Figures or at the very least the cheap outs they use on doll making don’t apply to Action Figures Speaking of whom, NECA found a loophole to make a movie accurate Michael Keaton Batman in 7 inch scale and sell him in Toys R Us... there must, I repeat MUST be a similar loophole to get us Batman 66 minimates (Keychains? Pack in with the blu-rays?! Sold as part of the bottle openers... I don’t know, building blocks again? Surely there’s one somewhere)
  7. this. The figures are painted not colored plastic so color matching shouldn’t be much of an issue (I’m assuming Two-Face is paint too, if he’s white plastic he’s f**ked) filling the holes should be easy as pie. I just hope the rumors are true the holes are fixed as of series 2 (I’m still getting all of them, I’ve put up with waaaaaay worse QC)
  8. what if you used white fleece, white pom-poms, and cotton stuffing to have the toys having a snow day? Spider-man and his villains team up to build snowmen, GI and Cobra waging their war by throwing snow balls, ponies hiding in the snow with their little heads poking out providing a splash of color like christmas lights.
  9. Nope! I think the NES one looks fantastic, I saw an open on at TRU and really considered buying it (decided against it since I have enough Batmen) I have no desire what-so-ever to own the regular colored version, although I do appreciate the legal loop jumping NECA’s gone through to make it happen (now if only DST would find similar loopholes to make Batman ’66 minimates... couldn’t WB sell them as a bonus with the complete series or something?!)
  10. No, I like minimate blindbags (when I don’t like them it’s gonna be a problem on MY end, since I can’t feel the bags worth a crap, and then I’ll just turn to eBay like how I how I get my Lego minifigs)all I’m saying is cereal is NOT blind bagged and blind bagged cereal sounds awful to me ... although as I wrote this, I realized I sort of have bought blind bag food before. My favorite burrito shop seems like they change exactly how they make the burritos every time I go (like how much seasoning they use, it ranges from I need to add salt to it being perfect, although once they randomly added spicy green chile sauce without me asking, so I guess I got the rare one per case variant that time, it was still tasty as f**k though.) but I still go twice a month, and as long as I don’t pull back the foil and get a mutagen Mikey I’ll be happy... so it seems I’m okay with some foods being a random chance, cereal is where I draw the line I guess. but now I think I will eat cereal while listening to Serial...
  11. I know I don’t need to quote with image, I could just say “nice Hellboy and Abe!” and you’d get it, but this is such a nice set of figures it needs to be repeated as much as possible. Mignola shading always impresses me and these are two of the best examples of it.
  12. This is funny, but I’m calling BS. I might not be able to see the cereal inside the box, but I know fully well what KIND of cereal is in the box.If Kellog’s starting selling boxes of cereal where I had a random chance of getting Special K, Frosted Flakes, Rice Kripsies, Honey Smacks, Froot Loops, or rare chase Mutagen Froot Loops (listed as Mutagen Frosted Flakes on the box, Local Cereal Shops are actually getting the Mutagen Frosted Flakes, but without the key fobs, but the art wasn’t changed in time.) when I opened it I’d stop buying Kellog’s cereal. (That said I have no problem with blind bags yet... I’m sure when I only want the chase that will change. But I didn’t feel the need to pre-order a LCS TMNT set, don’t know anything about Mass Effect, and want all the A2:AOU set, so as of right now I’m good.)
  13. I hope whatever set has Chris Pratt’s character (Owen, apparently) has some good dinosaurs in it... I need me some Lego Dinosaurs since I missed ‘house brand' versions they resently released and Owen needs to join Emmet and Starlord on the double couch, handing out and being buddies.
  14. “funny" answer: After the incident with the coffee he decided he wasn’t taking anymore chances letting the buffalo roam free and wild. real answer: I didn’t have any legs that matched his flesh tone so he was forced to wear pants. I thought I had uploaded the decal, but I can’t find it. I’ll look for the file and re-upload it (other than the decal it’s just a Power Girl hair piece with the pigtails sculpted on)
  15. So Im cheating here. I work on customs in sets and for me to choose 5 favorites would just be picking my favorite set of customs. So Ive picked my 5 favorite sets, and then picked my favorite of the set to be favorite mate listed, although Im going to take a picture of all of them because thats how I roll, I cant choose a favorite baby. Number Five.... Movie Blade! Starting things off is a quick custom (original Blade with Curse of the X-Men Blades torso and Mark 2 War Machines head) that is the only one I did make as part of a set, hes at home among the Walking Dead, the Universal Monsters, and both the comic and cinematic minimates. Number Four... Colonel William F. Guile I have my fair share of problems with how DST handled the Capcom lines, from character selection to scale, butI wont deny the supply of new pieces the lines created was vital to allowing me to create versions of my favorite characters I could be happy with... I picked Guile because Im really happy with how his dog tags turned out (also let it be known that the flesh on him, Sagat, and Zangief do match the official paints better in real life, they just photograph VERY poorly.) Number Three... The Goddamn Batman All-Star Batman is a collection of parts to make him bigger then a standard minimate (Duckfeet, a riser under the belt, movie hulk chest) because I dont like 16 year old girls being as tall as Batman. Im really happy with how the shading turned out on him, I think it mimics Scott Williams inking style fairly well. Number Two... Super Friends Samurai After I found out I could make a pretty nice Apache Chief and El Dorado as quick customs (Black Lightning, eh, not so much Im not sure how to fix him) I *needed* Samurai to go with them. Im really happy with the smoothness of the paint on his... tunic? I guess is the word for his top. And Dr Bagheads Number One Most Favorite Custom He Made For Himself Is.... drumroll Brave and the Bold Aquaman! After my success in painting Samurais tunic, I realized my first attempt at tB&tB Aquaman http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/Dr.Baghead/customs/bbaqua5a.jpg was utter garbage I could no longer live with. Using new parts that had just come out at the time I Mega Raged his upper torso to give him the heroic chest of his animated counter part while sculpting a more accurate championship belt style buckle, I also found a tiny dolphin so he need no longer adventure without his trusty pal, Fluke... truly he is one OUTRAGEOUS custom, no? edit: ugh, just work coding...
  16. Nope, Only found two K-Marts with strips. One I bought the Krang, an extra Raph to copy Mysterious Stranger’s excellent Trenchcoat Raph custom, and Mutagen Mikey for myself because I want to wait to get Shredder/April/the main four turtles for other board members who bought the LCS case so I didn’t bother with the Turtles. I tried a slimer Proton Pack on Mutey Mikey just to see if it worked and thought that’d be a good Donatello custom so went to a different K-Mart because it was closer and got another Mutagen Mikey because the strip was weird. Third K-mart didn’t have them yet, went back to first and strip was gone. So yeah... I don’t have Donny yet, it’s kind of funny when the original toys hit in the 80’s he was the last one I got then too (did he ship in a different case or something?) I had like 7 or 8 supporting characters before we found a Donatello. So it’s only fitting when I want a new set of Turtles to go with my Real Ghostbusters and Thundercats I have trouble finding Donatello again. (and like last time, I’ll walk into TRU one day and there he’ll be, although I probably won’t scream with joy and dance like a crazy person this time, PROABABLY...)
  17. So is this inventory already past the ports? because it sure would be awesome to find Donatello sooner than later...
  18. I realized we have all the parts to make a kind of okay Baymax as a pretty simple quick custom (yeah, his eyes are bad, but he’s getting torn apart since I’m not giving up my Logo ghost for Baymax. I’ll remake him once I can snatch up one of those extra Blobs that’s bound to be floating around from everyone ordering cases of Wave 60 and remake him then even if that would involve paint)
  19. Calm down. I wasn't trying to be snippy, no need for you to be. I wasn't trying to be snippy, I apologize I actually regretted my wording but couldn't think of a better way to rephrase it so I'm sorry I came across as rude. You're also right But I'm still fine with the wording of my original post, I think there was enough 'consumer confusion' that a lot of the people who willing spent money to see the movie assumed Michael Bay directed it (much like many fans wrongly assume to this day Tim Burton directed NBX) So yeah, I'm sorry, you're 100% right my term usage was wrong, I'm not changing it because it fits my point
  20. I thought Paul W.S. Anderson was the shitty Wes Anderson AND the shitty Paul Thomas Anderson because his name is tricky like that
  21. Michael Bay produced, not directed. Did I say “directed by Michael bay”? no I said “a Michael Bay film”, he didn’t direct it but it’s clearly in his style with a trailer full of collapsing buildings, it’s from his production studio and they sold it as “from producer Michael Bay” He might not have had much to do with it, but he stamped his mark on it letting audiences know “if you like the loud noises and colors we call ‘transformers’ you’ll love this equally loud mass of shapes called ‘ninja turtles’” so yeah, it’s “a Michael Bay film” just not “directed by Michael Bay"
  22. I’m pretty bad at feeling bags, it’s why I resort to eBay for my Lego minifigs, I felt a Turtle shell, saw the rest of the strip remained and assumed... but eh, at least he was easy to get rid of! (Also, the first Mutagen Mikey I found is already Turtle, he’s chillin’ with the Phantom Ghostbusters bein’ evil and green and such.)
  23. BAAAAARGGGHH!!! So the road map might not 100% I decided I really wanted to make a Ghostbustin’ Ninja Turtle and decided Donatello was the one to start with (because he’s science minded), so I went back to K-Mart, oh look! a strip let’s see... someone’s already bought the first three, skipped the forth one, and bought the 5th so they must know the road map and wanted Mutagen Mikey and the foot clan... so that means this forth one (pluck!) is my Donatello, walk up front, pay the lady, sit in my car open it up... FUUUUUUU!!! It’s Mutagen Mikey maybe this stripe had two, maybe someone pulled off 5 and decided they only wanted 4 and put one back wrong, maybe the stripe wasn’t ordered correctly... point is I’ve got an extra Mutagen Mikey (not anymore I don’t!) now I need to drive to the other K-Mart (grumble) and have to hope the strip is ordered corrected and not scattered on the ground or something.
  24. I had this huge long thing written out, but I realized it was easy shorten:Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: -Has children as fans (from Nick series) has adults who are fans (from classic series), can go as families to watch movie and bound over a generational love of the Turtles -Is a Michael Bay film: Proven brand that packs seats with audience who want BIG BOOMS and little story -Michael Bay is committed to 3D so the extra price for 3D or IMAX showings will ‘enhance’ the movie -It’s light story and big effects make it perfect for China and Russia who love our American explosiony-action-films The Fantastic Four: -Has fans who don’t like the changes made but will see anything “Fantastic Four” out of misguided loyalty. -Has no casual fans as Marvel will not be supporting it with comics, cartoons, etc. and Jessica Alba movies didn’t leave great impression in causal film goers minds. -Found Footage (which this movie is either completely or “mostly” by some accounts) aren’t high earners, they make a much worldwide as the average successful superhero movie makes in domestic alone. They’re only profitable when made for very cheap, something a movie where 3 characters have VERY effects heavy powers can’t realistically be. -Found Footage does not lend well to 3D/IMAX given the fact it’s not supposed to be “immersive” since you’re watching a documentation not ‘real time’ events so ticket sales can’t be artificially goosed with premium add-ons There’s no way a Found Footage Fantastic Four can be qualified as “successful”, unless by “successful” you mean “successfully fulfilled the legal requirements need to keep the licensing rights away from Marvel for a few years” in which case, the day it stopped filming it was more successful then it had rights to be.
  25. THANK YOU!!! I didn’t want to be that guy, but that was really bothering me...
