  1. I read that and thought to myself "Wha? they made a Hellraiser toy line 15 years ago?" then imagined some neon green pinhead as a chunky Kenner figure ... then I remembered you're 15 and what you probably had are the NECA figures (one of the first lines they made when they entered the figure business actually), so then I felt old. But back on topic: I really like these, it's nice to see Pinhead like this since there's probably no logical way to actually make him into a physical minimate without cheating on the height or the pins or using a sculpted head or something... but he sure does look slick as one. Will we be seeing any Cenobites from the sequels, Chaz? I've always enjoyed the two who's heads twist together, they were pretty keen.
  2. I found a full set today and I'm such a happy boy... I was playing around with head swapping and I think I need to find 2 more Courtroom Room Peter sets, I know they're wearing the grey suits in the commerical but putting Egon and Ray's heads on the suit body would make an excellent "We're Ready To Believe You!" set.
  3. I brought a Venom/Armored Spidey up to the front desk a few days ago and asked "Do you have anymore in stock?" assuming she could scan it or something to look up the SKU but the lady working the customer service desk typed "Marvel Minimates" into the system and said "Sorry, only 4 of them on the floor", well I went to put the set back and they had Four Wolverine Sets, and 6 Wave 2 sets so she clearly looked up the wrong SKU... Anyway to get to the damned point: Don't GB1 and GB2 have different SKU? They probably looked up "Ghostbusters" and clicked their system's link for Series 2, which comes out In September according to TRU.com. So in a way he's right, your TRU will be getting Ghostbusters in September, they'll just be wave 2.
  4. It means he'll star in two up coming Superhero movies instead of just one. Seriously the guys been in 3 movies so far this year (Adventure Land, Wolverine, and the Proposal... the latter two being rather high profile) he has plenty of time to be in both Deadpool and Green Lantern in 2011 especially since GL seems to be a bit father along (at least I hope someone's been writing a script and doing design work while the actor talk has been going on) then Deadpool development wise, he can hit the ground running with that project while Deadpool gets scripted and worked out, finish GL maybe take a month off to promote whatever 2010 movies he's got coming out, then hop right into Deadpool, finish off 2010 doing any reshoots needed then start off 2011 with junket tours in May for Deadpool and do it again in July for GL... happens all the time it just seems odd right now because it's back-to-back superheroes from rival companies (though I could see Deadpool getting pushed back if Marvel Studios has a different movie they'd rather open like Thor or Captain America or Avengers or Iron-Man 3 or whatever they'd be on at the time giving Reynolds even more time for reshoots with that) no one thinks it's odd when Julia Roberts is in two rom-coms a year or that Michael Cera plays "Michael Cera: awkwardly in love" twice yearly it's the same deal.
  5. Here's what I'd want to see: -a some form of civilian Ray and Winston to go with Courtroom Peter and Lab Egon -Ghostbusters 2 Egon -Gooey Peter, Winston, and Egon -Slimed Egon, Ray, and Winston (yeah, not cannon to the movies... well at least not if they match Peter... but it'd look neat!) -normal Louis and Dana -Janine -Vigo -the Scolari brothers. If they get rights to Real Ghostbusters I would definately want those variants (and an early design Janine, not so much the later version) but the only Ghost in the series I can think of that I'd want is Samhaine. (maybe were-chicken Egon? I really should pick up the DVD) I haven't played the new videogame, so I don't know if I'd actually want a figure of "Rookie" or not but if they can make Ghost from the game they could always make him. And what's everyone's take on "eXtreme Ghostbusters", if that license is included with Real Ghostbusters would they make good minimates? My personal opinion: No, since with the acception of Kylie design wise they're just 'Latin Peter', 'Wheelchair Ray', and 'New Winston' and they'd just take up space.
  6. Then explain how Street Fighter Gashapons are popular! Although this brings a good point: There are no Street Fighter Kubricks!! Clearly if there was a market for Street Fighter Block Figures they would have at least tried to make them right?
  7. Got any links to confirm this? I heard Ono wanted to do a new DS if SF4 was successful and Capcom and Marvel were both down with MvC3 but I haven't heard any confirmation about either. Oh, and since I like to rant in this thread: Variants killed the SF minimates! No Shin Akuma, Evil Ryu, and Lilith.... these are new chacters. The player 2 variants were worthless. Now SOTA was able to make the player 2 variants work for a couple reasons but here's where the minimates went wrong: 1-Limit choice: SOTA offered several versions of every character, there was something for everyone. If you don't like Grey Ryu (I prefer Blue with yellow headband), Red Akuma (I like Black, although techincally we never got Akuma's REAL Player 1 ), Pink Chun-Li (purple for me thanks!), and Grey Bison (Championship Edition Teal with Red Armor is the money variant!) what point to you have to buy a second set? 2-Variants As Exclusives: I scored a case of Pink Chun-Li Vs Grey Bison from AFX for $30, (little more then $2.50 a case) clearly they didn't sell...sticking a retailer with a crap ton of unsellable figures is a GREAT way to kill a line. And the Previews Exclusive set, the in theory easiest to find, were the two characters no American would want (and Demtri isn't really different enough from his default... he does have both a Red AND a Black outfit... to warrent buying a 3rd version of him.) Better Choices For Exclusives/Variants: Alternate Forms! Hollywood Video lucked out getting Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma, but did you know Chun-Li and Bison have "evil(er)" forms as well? While a ShadowLady Chun-Li would have been a poor choice but who wouldn't want a clear purple Bison? they made Demitri right? Well did you know the only reason people give a crap about Demitri is he TURNS PEOPLE INTO SEXY LADIES? He's even fought the entire cast of SF2 in a crossover so even they have cannonical lady forms... Pretty lady Ryu, Akuma, Bison, and Demitri with different outfits for Chun-Li and Morigan (ladies when attack just got dolled up in fancier dress) would probably have sold better then drap greys, washed out pinks, a red that made Akuma look like an angry cherry tomato, and a barely any different Demitri.
  8. Actually Dublin has the remains of Wave 3 (1 Wolvie, 2 Spidies... and no I get any of them), looks like only Concord and Antioch were lucky enough to get another case of Wave 2 in the last shipment.
  9. It's gonna be a chore to bump this thread everytime a 'possible return?' thread comes up. We should just make it a rule that everyone who wants to make a 'possible return' thread has to make it clear in the title it's crazy talk and use the description for writing about the topic they want talking about. For example I was wondering recently: "If TRU wants more miniflyers can DST make DC ones similar to C3 (although as sold parts) without infringing on Lego or Mattel's rights, and would DCD need to approve of them?" I know that didn't need it's own thread so I just posted in the existing garbage 'possible return' thread, but if I HAD posted that on it's own I could call it: "DC Mini-flyers at TRU" and that would cause people see the recent post, get excited thinking it was actual news, then get angry when it turns out it's just crazy talk. With this rule I'd have to post: title: "Crazy Nonsense Gobbledy Gook" description: DC miniflyers That way the recent post is NOT misleading, there's no new info, no fun custom ideas, just pointless crap one may or may not wish to read and post an opinion on. other examples: title: "Copyright laws escape me!" description: "Shazam moviemates!" what it's about: Hey since new line not warner bros. is (was?) making the Shazam movie this must mean they can make mates without DC licensing correct? title: "This notion gets tossed around a lot when people get desperate" description: "Silver Age DC Minimates Possible!!! what it's about: some characters like Uncle Sam and Lady Phantom aren't copyrighted apparently. Let's make minimates of them! title: "Gitchy Gitchy Goo!" description: "Spirt Comic Minimates Sets Including Batman characters!" what it's about: since there was a Batman/Spirit crossover this means Batman characters can be made in spirit sets, right? See! That way no one is excited then crushed when they see the title in recent post, but people wanting to discuss the possiblity/illogicalness of such things can still do so!
  10. Hey! I just noticed your location we most likely hit up the same TRU's... EDIT on 6/30: Hey Captain, hit the Concord TRU if you get the chance, they got the BSG wave 1 in (minus the 3 packs I grabbed)
  11. Since this threads here I'm gonna ask something that's been on mind for awhile: Since TRU wants Minimate vehicles and last time DC minimates were mass market they came with vehicles is the mini-flyer a possible way for DC minimates to continue? Somethings to consider: -Does Mattel's license prevent another company from making any mass market DC toys? I know they have a 'master license' for character selection, but does this mean a 'master license' to be the only producer of 'action figures'? -Assuming the mini-flyers are solid little planes and not mini-blocks do they infringe on Lego's licensing for Batman blocks? Does Lego still hold the Batman license? (I know they made some Dark Knight products and just made "Lego Batman" but I haven't seen any new Batman sets lately and a lot of the old ones ended up on clearance)
  12. Bill Murray as Batman? I smell a custom using one of those black C3 Batman suits and Venkman's head!
  13. As long as you're tasteful (no zombie versions, etc) and you don't try to capitalize on Mays' death by selling as many on eBay as possible there's nothing wrong with Pitchmen minimates. If it's gonna make you sad to work on them so soon as Billy's death, shelve the project for a few months and comeback to it later, but Billy Mays was awesome and his death does not mean his past awesomeness is void (well maybe for now it does, but time heals all wounds)
  14. This is very awesome... I've seen some crappy Simpsons fan art in my day and this, this guys knows what he's doing! They look like actual guest star designs would. Also he has Marvel and DC characters in the Simpsons style, so we can use this site to see what the Ghostbuster and Batman will look like in the same style while waiting for TRU to get on the ball!
  15. Didn't find any at my TRU yesterday but I did find out I'm not the only one looking for these in my area (kid who's mom asked the shop clerk if they had any "spider-man ones" and you corrected her. if you're here: BULLSEYE IS MINE!... unless you get to him first then I guess BULLSEYE IS YOURS!)
  16. you could always take the bus, couldn't ya?
  17. hey, Tony is a billionare, so maybe the inside of the suit is lined with goose down and fine silks so while he's fighting super villians it's like he's wrapped in a giant snuggy... then it would not only make sense to be bare foot, but be crazy if he wasn't!
  18. nothing at my TRU's, well nothing minimates anyway I did find the Hellboy 2 BPRD Buddies figures I'd been waiting for! (to anyone with custom Hellboy/plans of custom Hellboy minimates: Golden Army and Mr.Wink look terrific mixed in with minimates. ) question to those who found them: Are there any lingering Wolverine Movie Mates at your TRU? I know both my TRU's got the Wolverine Waves when they still had Wave 2 in stock, so are the 10 or so Wolvie mates preventing the arrival of the new wave or do they show up reguardless?
  19. If Clerks is an option I hope we'd get some done in the animated style as well. I was a fan of the Clerks Inaction Figures (and Steve Silver's design work in general) and think it's a style that would lend itself well to Minimates. My ideal set up would be: Clerks 1/Animated Box Set 1: -Dante -Randal -Leonardo Leonardo -Mr. Plug Clerks 1/Animated Box Set 2: -Jay -Silent Bob -Charles Barkley -Bear Who Drive Car Clerks 1 Box Set 3: -B&W Dante -B&W Randal -B&W Jay -B&W Silent Bob Clerks 1 2-pack (color version normal, B&W as exclusives): -Caitlin -Veronica Mallrats Box Set 1: -TS -Brandi -Mr. Svenning -Silent Bob Mallrats Box Set 2: -Brodie -Rene -Le Fores -Steve Dave Mallrats Box Set 3: -Willam (with real working Magic Eye poster! that's actually not a sailboat but a series of geometric shapes) -Tricia -Jay -Walter the fanboy Unnecessary Mallrats Characters 2-pack: -Shannon -Gwen Chasing Amy Box Set: -Holden -Banky -Alyssa -Hooper X Dogma Box Set 1: -Bethany -Bartleby -Jay -Hockey Demon Triplet 1 Dogma Box Set 2: -Loki -Serendipity -Rufus -Hockey Demon Triplet 2 Dogma Box Set 3: -Cardinal Glick -Metatron -Silent Bob -Hockey Demon Triplet 3 Dogma 2-pack: -Azrael -God (female version but with revesible head and second hair piece and coat to be in man disguise!) Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back 4 pack 1: -Jay -Bluntman -Justice (normal clothes) -Missy (spy) Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back 4 pack 2: -Silent Bob -Suzanne the Monkey -Marshall Willenholly -Crissy (spy) Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back 4 pack 3: -Justice (spy) -Sissy (spy) -Chronic -Moriss Day Clerks 2 4-pack: -Dante (Mobey's) -Becky -Jay -Silent Bob Clerks 2 2-pack: -Randal (Mobey's) -Elisas Will we ever see this happen: NOPE! but it was fun to write a giant list.
  20. you can team him up with Clarice Starling from the SotL set (everyone said she looked like Scully) and unhelmeted/battled damaged T-1000 head on a suit (who bares such a strong resemblance to Agent Dogget, are they brothers or something?) and have an X-Files set. So is there a following of 'Beverly Hills Cops' fans like there are Madonna fans? I guess this is probably one of the few non-animated Eddie Murphy figures so that's a plus... I guess what I want to say is "I know who this set is for (BHC/Eddie Murphy fans who until now have not gotten toys but want them) but I don't know if they actually exist"
  21. What scale are the Hot Wheels Bat Cycles? 1:18 or 1:24? I'm trying to find a minimate scaled Vespa scooter (no not for Haruko. no not for the Deadpool mobile. no not for the B-moped... though those would be pretty kickass) , there's quiet a few options in the 1:18 scale range but it list their size as "4w x 2.5h" which means it's as tall as Killer Croc and I've never seen no 7 ft tall Vespa. There are a couple not as nice ones in the 1:24 scale, but I'd like to know for sure before I order one if that's the right size.
  22. Nothing at mine... although the T2 mates are selling really well (wish I could say the same about Wolverine.... so many Ryan Reynolds left)
  23. If it's the same idea for Ghostbusters 3 that's been kicked around for god knows how long (which it sounds like with the team of new characters and the dimension hoping) they probably wanted her to be played Janeane Garofalo... seems like at the time they last tried to get this made she would have been the female comedian to get and would have fit the movies style pretty well. now they'd probably go like Ellen Page or something probably.
  24. (sits back and waits to see how long it takes someone to combine pieces of Battle Damage Endoskeleton, Half-Human Terminator, and an unwanted Hugh Jackman minimate into a "torn flesh Wolverine" minimate.)
  25. Edited post just for you! That provides horrifying imagery when combined with Gooey Ray, thanks for that...
