  1. That’s good to know the expendables have longer waist stumps! I’ve been trying to add height to some characters and I'm finding most of the default waist stumps just don’t have the height for it (my Volstagg a little up the page falls apart if touched because his waist barely fits with the added riser) that’s gonna make life a lot easier! also my father pronounces shrimp as ‘shim’, so the idea of tossing couple shrimp in Onslaughter’s boots to add height had me giggling
  2. Geezus H Cryst.... did he draw those in 2 minutes in MSN paint and call it a day?! the identical blood splatter, the shitty attempt a pun(?) with “Pandead” (am I supposed to read it as 'P-undead’ or ‘Panda-ed’ because 'Pan-Dead' is a portmanteau not a pun, and it’s not very clever when ‘Pandamic' is staring you right in the face.) the ‘inmate' having orange hands... god it hurts, even ignoring who he is, there’s no words for how much this level of awful hurts me. this is soooooooooooooooooooooooo lazy. Remember when he used to have nice sculpts, sometimes even finished prototypes of the products he never planned to make to con people out of money?! Now he’s just crudely drawing them on Palz blanks?! What the hell... Also 'Mini Mallows' Does this mean ‘Shockini' is no longer in use by GBJR Toys?! Because I’ve long thought that name would better fit a line of barely swimsuits and I’ll now be starting my own company if I can claim it! EDIT: decided to do a 5 second google search. It looks like ‘Pandead’ and 'Dead Asylum’ are both music related (Pandead is a record label, again ‘Pandamic’ doesn’t seem to be taken and would have the added bonus of looking like 'Panda mic' thus making it a triple word score of pandas, zombies, AND music, but whateves. Dead Asylum is a thrash metal band.) I have no idea if this means these are official 'Music Mallows' and in a year or two we’ll be hearing about they’ve never seen a penny from Geoff like so many of the Indie Spotlight creators or if Geoff is rififng off their names as ‘parody' since 'parody laws' means even copyrighted things can be used for free! or if it’s just a coincidence making the lame names even lamer still because he didn’t check if they were in use.
  3. I erased a whole long post about this... I’ll cut to the important points: -This is still A MAN telling little girls they should be defined by being THIN (that doll is in no way ‘fat’, she’s more realistic in portion but she’s still skinny) and WHITE to be PRETTY (I’ve not seen pictures of the doll in any professional outfits, only basic and workout clothes so the only message it implies is ’this is what a normal girl looks like’)... how is it on a fundament level different than Barbie? -Little boys ONLY play with muscular super men. Wrestlers, Batman, the Avengers, He-Man if you’re old school, GI Joe, and the Ninja Turtles are WAAAAY more ripped than any 15 year old I’ve ever seen. Even the ‘workmen’ figures like cops and firefighters are shredded like lettuce. Where’s the ‘hero’ “artist” stepping in to make “slightly over weight with average muscles Batman with a sign that says ‘I have an average dick and that’s okay’” so little boys don’t feel bad about THEIR body image. -it’s so f**king dumb it’s called a “Lammily” because the asshole who created it is named Nickolay Lamm. Why not call it “Nikki” that’s actually a girl’s name. -I just bought this for niece for her birthday next week: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Wo0SGGpmL._SY300_.jpg it’s SOOOOO goddamn cute! I will continue to poor money into Monster High because they’re cute, stylish, and monsters for both me and hopefully my niece (if she chooses to go down the darkside and keep loving ponies and princesses more, I’ll support her in that) they might be horrifically skinny (I have one that’s a literal skeleton) but I feel they promote more then just ‘LOOK LIKE THIS!’: the importance of friendship, the importance of being yourself (each doll has their own fashion trend and color palette to reflect this), also as an artist I *LIKE* stylized proportions and a good design sense over slavery to realism. I just hope she won’t develop a complex because she’ll never be a pink vampire.
  4. So I was watching Thor 2 last night on BluRay and thought there had to be a way to add to add Hogun and Fandral to my collection: Fandral is Thor 1 Lokis torso and cape, Sins arms and lower body, Odins bracers, a random pair of black hands and buccaneer boots. The sword I assume is from a pirate and I have no clue whos head (who needed a mustache and beard painted on it) and hair those originally were. Hogun is some arms from a Halo alien (the silver, hoof legged dude) on a Thor 1 Thor, AoA Jean Greys neck... thingy, Thor 1 Lokis bracers, Monkeans mace, and I dont know whos head and hair (I know its not a rare head, I had two and tried giving him a beard too, made him look less asian so I stuck with the clean shaven one) Volstagg was looking sort of small next to them so I used the arms and leg armor of a Halo alien (brown one, same as the silver one used on Hogan), Thor 1 Thors bracers, and Jax (from the Sony mates) boots, and an MvC3 Thors skirt on backwards to bulk him up a little. Ill be the first to admit theyre not accurate, but it kind of works. (I also dont display Thor 1 Thor and Loki, having replaced them with an Amalgam of the best parts from all 3 Thors and a Thor 2 Loki, so I dont have the problem of their chest looking identical to their donors)
  5. if anyone buying the blind bags ends up with an extra Bad Cop let me know. I want a set of the main characters and most of them can be obtained with the Sea Cow (which I haven’t ordered yet but need to... I’ve wanted to build a lego ship since I was 5 and my parents never let me buy legos, so this is going to be awesome.) and I was able to get Unikitty, President Business, and Batman (a bootleg, but you can’t tell) for pretty good prices loose on eBay... but Bad Cop eludes me and I absolutely suck at reading the bump codes on the bags. so if anyone has a spare, there's a Shield Agent (regular or Heavy, you can pick!) in it for you if I can have him! woot! Got one the collection’s complete.
  6. Sweet! Maybe I’ll finally get some Monster High block figures now.
  7. I should say that fact was purely anecdotal, but well researched. My wife (then just my best friend, my how time flies...) was big into Marv so I wanted to get her a B&W Marv figure. I hit up MANY a Suncoast, Boarders, Tower Records, Virgin Megastore, the Sony Metreon, stores that still exist, Barnes and Nobel, Hot Topics, Spencers, and a couple cons trying to find one and only came across the evenly packed color Marv who looked... odd to say the least. Maybe the color versions *eventually* sold, but the B&W ones definitely sold *first* (also... I liked duck feet, not on Hulk or any of the characters they actually came with though, but they really add a little something to my custom B:BT&TB Aquaman and height corrected Sagat, and I put a pair under Colossus’ boots to make him tailer... they were good for adding height to skinny legged characters)
  8. Isn’t Marv popular enough he could anchor TWO sets? Like set two is Prison Marv, Goldie (or Color Wendy if you like!), Electric Chair... and I don’t know, Carla Gugino’s characters who’s name I don’t remember Lucille (thanks two second internet search!)?
  9. Here’s the thing... Universal Monsters: Black and White because of Film Limitations Lost In Space: Black and White because of TV limitations The Munsters: Black and White Because of TV limitations Clerks: Black and White because it’s all Kevin Smith could afford Walking Dead: Black and White because it’s cheaper to print Sin City: Black and White by choice, has splashes of color in it. So when it comes to color minimates: Universal Monsters: Has made color films with the characters, has color versions of them walking around their theme parks, has whole slew of products showing them in color: Characters were intended to be in color Lost In Space: Was releasing colored promotional stills and products when show was on TV: Characters intended to be in color. The Munsters: Was releasing colored promotional stills and products when show was on TV: Characters intended to be in color. Clerks: Characters have since appeared in color films, Clerks cartoon was in color, Clerks 2 does a dramatic switch from B&W to color: characters intended to be in color Walking Dead: Covers in Color, Mega Hit TV show in color: Characters intended to be in color Sin City: Movie in B&W, Comic’s covers in B&W, Comic designed to be high contrast were B&W negative space create the scene. NECA’s color figures didn’t really sell despite being intended to appeal to those who didn’t like B&W, Splash color used for effect: Character meant to be in B&W with exceptions like Goldie and Yellow Bastard. Asking for color Sin City minimates so they blend in with other characters is like asking for every future Iron Man to be weird color combos like Purple/Green and Blue/Pink because it’ll look better mixed into your armory than ANOTHER red/yellow. It’s personal taste above accuracy. I’ve had Mattel’s Dark Knight Returns Batman (formerly DC Direct’s until the new hotness replaced him) figure next to Toy-Biz’s Marv on my shelf for a while now and it’s never bothered me. edit: coding got weird...
  10. wait until they clearance out the remaining stock (which will happen, it’s been 5 days and the set is still ‘buy now’ so they’re not going anywhere)... that’s what I plan to do. I *do* actually like the figures, and they’re worth owning, but not for no $30, it’s a $15 pack tops Edit: Pic for scale:
  11. Holy F**KING SH*T, what the Hell Mattel. I ordered the Battle Armor He-Man/Mer-Man mini-figure set... they said they’d be “slightly” smaller than the SDCC He-Man and Skeletor... which I was fine with, I assumed like 10% smaller or something. They are A THIRD the size of the original mini-masters, half the height of a Goddamned minimate (though if you want the weapons for minimate customs they DO fit into a minimate’s hands with no alteration.) For $30 bucks shipped it’s the biggest rip-off imaginable, I’m flabbergasted Mattel’s girl side constantly produces amazing work with Monster High but their boy side is consistantly producing over priced garbage no one wants...
  12. If it does: Step-Brothers quick customs!!!
  13. so since the whole trailer is based around the height line up, I’m VERY happy with the statue Rocket. Starlord, Gamara, and Space-Kratos* are all roughly the same height, if Groot has a rise, some large feet, and a long head (that’s what she said) he’ll be a fine height, so Rocket HAS to be smaller. He would look weird if he was bigger, although I do hope the gun is removable. (*yes, I know, Drax the Destroyer, but he went on a rampage after his wife died, he’s covered in red tattoos, and sporting a twin pair of crazy knives? plus this redesign debuted AFTER Kratos was a thing... he’s Space-Kratos, and that’s awesome.)
  14. Well American Godzilla *is* a cannon Godzilla Kaiju, his (her?) name is Zilla (because they felt Sony, by making their creature a mutant animal and not a true monster has taken the “God” out of Godzilla) It seems Toho owns the design now, so it might be fun to get eventually (I still want King Kong first, but before him even Rodan, Mecha Godzilla, the meaner ‘cat like head’ Godzilla, and King Ghidorah)
  15. So since DST still has the Universal license (they’re making Selects and stuff even if minimates are dead) what are the chances of King Kong being in a future wave? King Kong Vs Godzilla is the most commercially successful Godzilla movie after all.
  16. Whoopsies! Thank you, I know the character (former leader, son liked Andrea... I think they played it like he did too, was sort of played as if he could be shadey but was a cool dude) My brain went straight to "Fredrick" though, I do want to say its at least similar enough to Douglas it's not a sign my brain is dying (two syllable name that's very standard and could be shortened but isn't.... Maybe it was a slip because I was thinking of Fredrick Douglass?) Oh well, I was excited for the figure when I thought he was called Fredrick I'm more excited for him now that I know he's called Douglas
  17. This is probably the first wave of Walking Dead minimates where the whole wave of them interest me. I like Frederick, I like patrol Rick and Michonne, I like Carl, I like Flaming Zombie, for some reason I *love* the coat zombie... I don’t like pretty dress Michonne though, but maybe the fact she probably comes with a second flaming zombie (it looked like from placement the wave is Fred/coat, Rick/Carl, Michonnes/Flame but I could be wrong) so I can kitbash one of the zombies in my parts bin into a second flaming zombie. This will be the first time since wave 2 I pre-order a wave rather than cherry pick sets.
  18. Didn’t we get Penny’s dad with Khan last year?
  19. Since Funko has already made several versions of the guys in Trek costumes (Pops, mystery minis, bobble heads) and Bif Bang Pow is planning on releasing them as Megos (Mego figures? I forgot the correct term) and DST’s trying to relaunch Star Trek mates anyway...I really wouldn’t be surprised if we see an official Star Trek cosplay set released if the first two sell well. (personally, I’m buying another one of those new Ghostbuster sets... because they’d TOTALLY dress like the Ghostbusters if licensing wasn’t an issue.)
  20. if the animated line is all encompassing, I’d literally pay any price for a Brave and the Bold Aquaman. I don’t need any other tB&tB characters to be made (since they don’t have sharp clean edges like Timmverse designs DCUC look pretty close, smiling Legacy Batman is a near perfect B:tB&tB Batman.) , JUST Aquaman.
  21. which when you think about it, is the real crime here.
  22. of all the things BifBangPow! holds a license (Venture Brothers, the Big Lebowski) too this is the last one I’d want... but eh, Green Lantern chest piece. http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/exclusive-first-look-at-big-bang-theory-from-bif-bang-pow/ edit: actually, now that I think about it since Sheldon has two DC logos on shirts if there’s a loophole in this contract so we can get this set: and get some updated JLA pieces that would be pretty sweet.
  23. after seeing DCC’s animated Batman I’m really jonesing for a collector’s line of Gargoyles figures. C’mon NECA or Funko or preferably DST so you can make minimates too, get on that!
