  1. They discontinued them, only a couple of years ago. For the last couple of years, they pretty much stopped making the normal guys and focused on the MicroStars (about half the size)
  2. This, this, this! This indeed
  3. y'know... this is a thread I never expected to see on the multiverse. Just a few months ago I sold hundreds and hundreds of these guys, loved them as a boy. Used to play with them like subbuteo. Oh UK... Arsenal fan? For shame  I had every single figure for Spurs and Arsenal, some United, Liverpool and Chelsea. I had about a hundred England players, starting with the Euro 96 team (my first ever Pro-Star was David Platt... long before they started calling them Pro-Stars), and the 1966 team. I also collected Holland, France, Ajax, as well as having a load of legends... Pele, etc. Crickey, all nostalgic now. Only kept a couple as I really don't have the room. Recently bought up a load of the Spurs micro-stars... and customising the guys they never stuck in the right shirt (a Newcastle Parker and a Chelsea Gallas, etc).
  4. theme appearing here, but I also don't really collect the movie mates, but will buy sets like Thor/Destroyer for the new characters. Thanks to movie mates, we usually get perhaps one new villains per film, and a load of supporting cast who wouldn't otherwise get made... Iron Man - Rhodey, Pepper & Monger. Hulk - Betty, Blonsky and General Ross. Thor - Destroyer, Odin, Volstagg, Jane Foster, Coulson & Selvig. Cap - Dum Dum, Gabe & Peggy. Avengers - Hill and the Chitauri Ben and Capt Stacy will go up with Spidey's allies. etc. ... all the extra Iron Men, Thors and SLJ Furys go straight on ebay.
  5. quick update, been a while since I've taken any photos. I recently bought myself the Galaxy Note, and now taking and uploading photos is a doddle, I have no excuses. Pyro As with most my Marvel stuff, quick and simple. He has a backpack, modified from an old 'Military Muscle Men' flamethrower (did anyone else used to have those?) Falcone Best thing about Batman is his colourful array on lunatic villains, right? So here is a man in a suit. John McClane I watched the Expendables when the mates were announced, and it made me sad to see what all those old action guys were doing with themselves now. I wanted a proper Bruce Willis to go with Rocky Stallone and T-800 Arnie... so I basically copied TENIME's custom. Perry White Basically cobbled together from GB Mayor and w43 parts. Newspaper editors and vest, huh? Hammerhead New Jonah body, old Jonah head (repainted hair and removed 'tache). Flash Thompson May well stick the TTA head on this guy, though I think he looks pretty good... more high school bully than crippled soldier. Dante Made a couple of small cuts along his back to make the strap and actual strap, so he can hold both guns at once. Zombies Because you can never have too many zombies, and we can't make things too easy for the likes of Rick Grimes and Chris Redfield. I actually started putting these together before I looked at the Walking Dead mates, then realised I'd made a one armed female zombie, with her skirt ripped... spooky. I copied Dinobot, turning the chef into a zombie, whilst the Army guy is a little tribute to Sam Witwer (BSG, Smallville, Vader's Apprentice, etc)... he was the zombie in the tank in the Walking Dead. Recipes are all pretty straight forward, though feel free to ask. Cheers.
  6. Oh yes, he was written as a bit of a drip, but the guy is top class.
  7. Glad most people are finally getting onside for this film, all the signs are incredibly positive. No doubt the origin section will be rather quickly done, its been wonderfully cast... absolutely no doubt it'll be a huge imlrovement on the 'originals'. In defence of Raimi's films... The villains were wondefully cast; Dafoe, Molina, Haden-Church... all great actors, and they introduced me at least to James Franco. I honestly think, with a better script, even Topher Grace could have been a pretty decent Brock, albeit a new approach.
  8. Is that a question Fiend? They are different indeed, Zach covered it. I like them, and they're accurate, it seems.
  9. Has he revealed anything about TRU wave 14 yet? other than the entire line-up? not sure. Ultimate Cap / Miles Spider-Man Iron Man / Rhino Havok / Storm ? Box / Vindicator?
  10. I've been hearing that for the best part of two decades! don't worry, Spurs fan here... riding a wave, so to speak.
  11. because I like reading spoilerific stuff online, I forget what is knowledge and what isn't. I remember reading about that scene when they were filming it... time, does like to fly!
  12. You're a Liverpool fan, Fiend? Ohhh, bless you... you poor man!
  13. If that is the case, I'm having half a point.
  14. Iron Man 2 was good, but a bit of a muddled mess itself, don't'cha think? Can't say I've ever been huge on Iron Man myself, so have no idea who these villains are... some of these names though, pretty amusing. I dread to think how much RDJ is getting paid for this one.
  15. did Zach not say 48 did have a theme (which TrU 15 sort of ties into)? obviously, the word 'theme' has various connotations... we have no idea how strict the big guy was being.
  16. Le Chiffre! Good actor, though I've no idea who he'll be playing. An evil elf, or something? I only know really really old Thor, and modern Thor. Whatever happens, with the Game of Thrones fellow on board, I've no doubt I'll thoroughly enjoy this sequel.
  17. I think he was left out because there was a lot of Hulk coming out around then. We've gotten three Hulks (and a Red Hulk) in the past year, and only that one Thing, if my count is correct. Plus, we have a Hulk through the Ages box set coming up! So clearly we love the Hulk as much if not more. If this Thing wins (I don't think it will), I doubt we'll see more than one Thing released between now and its arrival next year. I know champ, just messin'. Though, seeing as you love Hulk as well... make sure we get this Grey version!
  18. you're a gent, pop. I have been wanting to 'get into' something new. I will be having a look.
  19. Thing beat out Hulk for a place in the 'best of' wave as well (sorry if this has been covered)... someone over at DST really likes him! I've absolutely no need for a spikey Thing, but that best of one is perfect.
  20. Thanks v.much Miry, was it good? Sounds bloody good. I, of course, know the likes of Ronan and Annihilus... so it works for me. Anything will do just now, DST have put out so much beautiful stuff this year, they've earnt a duff wave... and my wallet could do with a break, no doubt.
  21. I'm still thinking how lovely it is to get so many of Spidey's supporting cast this year, with waves 43 & 46.
  22. I honestly know nothing about Annihilation, but if that is what you guys want then why not, eh. I can't think of a theme or story that isn't Spidey, X-Men or Avengers... not quite fluent in Marvel, y'see. I also agree that AvX should stick to a boxset... they are easily avoided. I usually end up buying waves whether I like them or not.
  23. Yes, I think we do. Wild speculation... official reveal (with potential fun and games from DST)... promo images... package pics... release speculation... sightings in the wild. It's fun! But yeah, AvX isn't a bad guess. Will the event be long over by the time this wave comes out? Probably, but that seems to be fine.
