  1. Fabulous-best Hulk so far (in that he matches up with how I picture him), Dr. Strange and Valkyrie look great, and Namor's face and little winged feet are perfect. As soon as Namor arrives he's going to be making time with my Sue Richards.
  2. I'll be honest and say I have never heard of Drop Dead Fred before. I'm curious as to why you think a film described on IMDB as "zappy" about an imaginary childhood friend would make a good set of minimates. I'm not trying to be rude, I'd sincerely like to hear your reasoning.
  3. Please keep us updated-I'm thinking of asking for a subscription as a Christmas gift should it seem worthwile.
  4. Oh my Goddess-I will never complain about shipping rates again. (Well, not loudly anyways). That's just disgusting.
  5. ::Hands you encouragement in convenient bucket size amounts::
  6. While I agree with you on Hush and Two-Face (with Hush a distant second) I think that DC should avoid the Marvel line's pitfall of too many variations of their most popular characters while ignoring others. We have received a lot of Green Lanterns (and yes I know they are all different characters) and I would prefer it if Batman and Superman do not become the Spiderman and Wolverine of the DC line. Even if they are versions from proper Alternate Universes versus just having different costumes.
  7. While I prefer the gin variety, bless the vodka martini's that led to this. Thank you!
  8. Leoben. He's all I want. Seriously, he's my favorite character and I demand a Leoben. Finishing off the rest of the humanoid Cylons would be nice but again, LEOBEN!
  9. I'll bite...why those five? Not that they wouldn't be great minimates, but they seem somewhat random.
  10. That's really the only thing that could be said to be a flaw-and I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. Besides, several minimates have "improper" feet-Nightcrawler and the modern Cylons come to mind. The feet are what really sell the 'mate to me-although the thing hands and face carry significant weight.
  11. Wow! I really couldn't tell you'd sculpted them yourself-very impressive. They'd make perfect Hobbit feet. I have to say as far as group shots go, I don't think your Justice Lords can be beat in terms of impressive creativity-Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl are my favorites. Ultimate Beast is far and above my individual favorite however. Much love for your customs.
  12. Hello! There are actually quite a few X-men that have gotten both the Kubrick and the minimate treatment. The Kubrick line does have a lot more topics/licenses/lines/subjects/what-have-you and the whole Japanese import thing makes them a little hard to keep track of though. Welcome aboard, and I'd love to post on a minimates vs. kubricks topic. I have a lot of thoughts and questions regarding breadth of subject matter and design. In case you couldn't tell, I can be somewhat wordy. Everyone is really nice here (or at least nice to me) so don't freak out if you make a mistake and have fun! I'll shut up now.
  13. I was obsessed with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a child (to my Mother's dismay, but that's what she gets for putting me in a tiny daycare with nothing but boys) to the point of wanting to marry them. All of them, but preferably Michelangelo. (And no, I had no idea how that would work). I still have all my old action figures, and would love and adore minimates of my beloved series. Ooo, with weapon accessories, and little pizza slices!
  14. If someone who's received them already could post some pics, that would be wonderful. Please? I'm not getting mine 'til Christmas and I really wanna see what they did with Namor's feet. Pretty please with a cherry (or sundae topping of your choice) on top?
  15. Damn but that's an impressively long list. Commercial consumerism is well and good if this forum has anything to say about it.
  16. I personally prefer the Spidey one, but that might be because I never could gather much enthusiasm for the blank promo 'mates. The little webline is what causes it to be made of win.
  17. I have to say that when it comes to aiding fellow collectors out, this forum has some incredibly helpful and altruistic members. Just thought I'd throw in a declaration of your (and others') awesomeness.
  18. I'm afraid I follow a similar philosophy, due mostly to the permanent scarring my psyche received when my trashy aunt couldn't remember what the stretched-out smear of discolored flesh on her hip was before having two children! The shoulder/arm is a good place for a tattoo though, as my 87 year-old Grandpa's army one from WWII still looks awesome. I did however, put on several temporary tattoos for my graduation ceremony-too late for them to kick me out then. I went to a private all-girls school and we all had to wear creepy sacrificial virgin white dresses (only for the ceremony-rest of the time regular school girl outfits), which flattered no one. I'll try and post it, but don't get too excited; the whole point was for them to be easily visible despite the conservative attire so not much skin gets revealed. I'm glad you got your 'mates too, especially Nightcrawler-he's such a tease.
  19. I for one agree with you. I just didn't see the point in getting involved in an argument I have no real stake in. Deep breaths everyone.
  20. They already issued a Darkseid in the Superman C3 set, so I wouldn't hold my breath on that one, especially since they have yet to give us a Martian Manhunter. Sadly I believe the Darkseid 'mate is 2'' in scale (I've got one coming in the mail).
  21. Even though I didn't end up getting the web armor spidey, I'm thrilled this sale was pointed out, since you had the PALz Buffy Halloween set for $6.00. Except for the exclusives I don't generally purchase minimates from AFX since there is usually one set per wave that I don't particularly care about.
  22. I love the Hellraiser pinhead one. For some reason, the little bloody knives and die are my favourite details, despite the obvious amount of work the fantastic head must have taken. Sewing pins is a great idea, although I would recommend sawing part of them off first so as not to fill the inside of the head up with pins-that way more could fit on.
  23. Good idea. I'm so glad to see a guy (I'm assuming, with the name and all) with love for Big Barda. After the incredibly insulting review of the Big Barda figure bust in Wizard Magazine, which featured the tagline "This gal's been around long enough for you to know she's way hotter than her name makes her sound," I kind of lost faith in men appreciating this awesome character. The fact that the statue itself is lacking her signature armor and makes her look like a submissive coat rack is a whole other issue.
  24. I ordered this as soon as I saw the Dr. Strange minimate-perfect job on the cape. While I'm thrilled to be getting this ahead of time, does anyone know why the shipping/release dates on 'mates (heh) keep getting moved up? I don't really mind, but it doesn't increase my confidence in the fact that the companies have any idea what they are doing, especially after the Ghost Rider Wave mess. Still in love with minimates and willing to make blood sacrifices to their creators, I'm just curious.
