  1. I don't know if anyone else here still collects G.I. Joe, but there's pics up over here of the 50th anniversary stuff, and they're making a bunch of those awesome concept case prototypes for reals. I am going to be broke! Also, yay Death's Head!
  2. For me to buy them, they'd need to be tied to nostalgia more than anything -- either classic artists that had iconic "costumes" (ie. Beatles, Freddie Mercury, you could do an entire line of Bowiemates), or '90s bands sporting looks from music videos that were burned into my brain forever from watching them so much when I was a kid (ie. Beastie Boys in their "Intergalactic" jumpsuits, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Cobain, "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" Pumpkins, etc). Oh and I would totally buy that Blue Album Weezer box set Lobsterman made a few years back.
  3. I like the giraffe a lot, but if they had to cut a character from the SDCC prototypes I wish it hadn't been the cheetah, who looked awesome.
  4. Zero Suit Samus and A Link Between Worlds Link were just announced. I'd rather we got a Zelda than a second Link, but I'll still be grabbing both of these.
  5. Hmm, yeah the lower joint cut is definitely giving some of these a "fat neck" look, it's a shame the designers weren't paying better attention to the Kenner inspiration. I was also hoping they'd stick with the SW-inspired black border cardbacks, like the Alien figures had. And with the big separate helmet the Rocketeer looks a bit bobble-headed. Not thrilled so far, but I might grab the Sarah Connor and chrome T-800 if they look okay in person.
  6. I stopped by a couple last week and they hardly had any mates, but I don't think the few they did have were on sale. I saw some Wave 16 marked down a little just before Christmas, but not a major price drop like in the States.
  7. Going by Friday Night Lights and Chronicle, I'm guessing they want Michael B. Jordan for Johnny *because* he's great at playing up those cocky/self-absorbed traits while keeping a character very real and likeable. And if the script is already finished and they're only now considering switching Doom's gender, I think it could work, kind of like Ripley back in the day. They just need to avoid rewriting it to focus on the switch.
  8. Yeah, all from the Robots in Disguise line around 2000/01. Looks like the police car is Prowl and the racecar is Skid-Z.
  9. A while back I had all my mates stored in the little ziploc bags for about a year maybe, and ended up with a few sticky/tacky mates once I took them out again to display, for most of them that kind of went away over time. My biggest losses though were a blue Iceman that's now more of a green Iceman, and a blue Xavier where parts of his suit darkened/yellowed .
  10. Well there's Ivan: http://www.minimatedatabase.com/chars.php?i=3&n=Elektra Same chest tampo, different face, arms and legs.
  11. I just hope the final product looks that great, I thought the Lego design team really sucked the life out of the Delorean one.
  12. Yeah, I think Kaneda and his bike could work well as one of DST's nostalgia-friendly cult '80s releases, regardless of the wider marketability of anime.
  13. Huh, I didn't realize it was a different outfit, just thought she wore the jacket over the tracksuit. Well, here's hoping for both then!
  14. I was hoping to get a pre-fight Kiddo too, with the jacket and helmet (and the motorcycle tbh!), but I prefer bloody if we're only getting one.
  15. Well I already used up my Dawson clapping GIF, but that's excellent news!
  16. Finally got my replacement Prowl in the mail and he is some kind of wonderful, and I just picked up Generations Skids because I love that comic. Hope we get a look at MP Bee soon. Anyone thinking about getting that third party MP Slag? It's too expensive, but I do really want more dinobots. If it was Snarl I'd definitely cave.
  17. Wow, those are even cooler than I expected. And it's not all heavy hitters, so it looks like the line could go pretty deep. This set could use an accompanying Crazy 88 dump case...
  18. Assuming it's correct, it looks like Marvel movies have made something like 3 times as much in the past decade... although that's box office, not profits, so take out production/marketing and add in dvd sales, plus as you say it's outdated... so who knows.
  19. Definitely the most accommodating online store I've ever used, just above and beyond the call. Wishing you continued success in your endeavor, Luke!
  20. If you pull the gloves down a little on her arms, I find she looks a bit more proportional.
  21. I loved Fraction's run on the comic, Rescue was a really big want for me, and the mate surpassed my expectations. I also have her displayed twice (which is also rare for me).
  22. Well that's a coincidence, "a lot" just happens to be my favorite amount of Minimates!
  23. I definitely have moments of ambivalence towards all the "stuff" that I have amassed. The Minimates, at least, can all be on display; the various other toys in closets and boxes, waiting for when I move someplace with more room, are not really being enjoyed much in the meantime, but I still buy new ones all the time and do enjoy that, so I don't know. And I definitely do just like having a room full of toys on display, without really playing with them or sitting there and staring at them or anything, so yay materialism I guess? My brother is a travel nut and hardly owns anything, so maybe that evens things out. If all this collecting actually started to negatively impact my life/relationships in any way, I would hope I'd have the guts to just walk away like Groundhog.
