  1. Well I would like a Cavil, not because I particularly want a Cavil but because then we'd just need the captain from Enterprise in the Trek line and we'd have automatic Quantum Leap mates. Otherwise, the great Kara in the new box set has pretty much finished up everything I want from the line... but for the rest of you, I hope they eventually release all the Cylon models. From the various DST blog entries/Q&As, it sounds like they really want to get them all out there.
  2. I have the 4-eyed version, but I find that you can only see the upper "eyes" if you tilt his helmet back as far as it will go. If you put it on more level, then you only see the full small reflection on his left side and most of the small reflection on his right side (and cutting off the top of the right "eye"/reflection makes him look shifty, which I like). And of course the amount you tilt his helmet forward also changes depending on what height you're displaying him at and looking from, since the look will change at different angles... Anyway, my point is you can get the effect of 2 eyes, or close to it, with the 4-eyed version. I think the 2 eyes looks better, but it would have been best if they had fit the 4 eyes properly below the rim of the helmet, like in the illustration on the front of the box.
  3. I don't think they do... I'm pretty sure the new comic series was licensed to DC by Will Eisner Studios. I don't know anything about licensing, but I'm guessing that when Will Eisner Studios licensed the character to whatever film company is making this, it included all the kinds of product they could make to tie-in (including, apparently, Minimates)... Also, Alpheon--I honestly wasn't trying to blame British tabloid journalism on you! Just correcting the story from what I'd heard. She could still be an awful person/actress, I have no idea. And every thread goes a little off-topic at some point
  4. I kind of hate celebrity news, but one of my best friends is obsessed with it so whenever I'm at her house I end up sitting through shows like Access Hollywood -- so even though I have no opinion about Eva Mendes, I do know that that whole "sex in 50 states" thing was a fake story made up by some sleazy British tabloid. Even in the fake story, it was saying she slept with *one* guy in all 50 states when they went on a road trip across America together, which doesn't make her much of a "slut". Also I hate that word at least as much as I hate celebrity news, but that's just me Mini-rant-defending-Eva-Mendes'-honor officially over... As for Spirit minimates, I also wish they'd do a classic version with the blue suit/smiling... the Miller version looks too serious...
  5. I know we've had The Thing and Clint Eastwood with cigars, but it's still really weird to see a toy with a cigarette in its hand Maybe it's just that the illustration of it is right next to the "Ages 4 and up" text on the back that's weirding me out!
  6. I was waiting for someone else to post it too I don't want to get too hopeful either since they've talked about how unlikely vehicles of any kind are, but my one question in the old Q&A threads was about a Delorian, and he said if the line was popular enough they'd look at the possibility. I don't know any sales stats or anything, but the BTTF box sets do seem to sell out quite quickly online. Anyway I guess we'll have to just wait for more official news, since no one's posted anything here...
  7. Has anyone else seen the post from a few days ago on the Art Asylum blog? (http://www.artasylum.com/blog) The dude's kinda rambling, but it sounds like they're making a miniature DeLorian of some kind -- whether that means in scale to the Minimate line or some other type of replica I have no idea. Anyone know what he's talking about?
  8. Both versions were on the Batman & Robin soundtrack -- one at the beginning and one at the end. Don't know if they used both in the actual movie, since I've never managed to sit through the whole thing.
  9. Cool, I never even noticed the little Phoenix symbol on the Dark Phoenix sash before... Still don't get what they're going for with Jewel's "double" boobs -- in fact, I'd assumed that was a misprint on the one shown at SDCC... are the lower lines meant to be her ribs? Or is she meant to be jumping up and down? Is it really just me that thinks it looks really weird? Probably. Also, I'm surprised Marvel wasn't more picky about the version of Beast they used, since he's wearing his X-Men briefs in Secret Invasion, and has black hair, but that's an easy fix with a Sharpie, even for non-customizing me. And any Beast's a good Beast. Nitpicking aside, can't wait for this set!
  10. I have a similar problem with my Web Armor Spidey. Rather than the web lines on his mask intersecting in the center of his face it was a little to one side or his eyes were painted to one side either way it was off. Must be a semi common glitch. My Web Armor's eyes are *very* slightly off center, but I never would've noticed without looking for it. Same with FA Cap's face, which is slightly closer to the right ear, but I wouldn't have picked up on it without your post. So either yours are more messed up or you're just way more observant My gray-metal-suit Iron Man from the new set, however, has the whole outer chest image printed too low AND lopsided, which is really noticeable and weird looking. It's like the machine/person printing it slipped. Luckily I like the set enough that I ordered a second to get the alternate suits, so hopefully the new one will be fine. Oh and I also had some yellow paint missing on the arm of one of the Civil War Iron Mans I got. I hope this isn't a growing issue with the line, the last time I had any sloppy paint on a Minimate was way back with Yellow Daredevil. They're usually pretty perfect.
  11. I think he just meant he "got" them as in he paid for them on the site... even though yes, it kind of reads the other way.
  12. The green Phoenix in the SI set being a perfect stand-in for Rachel Summers got me thinking wishlists again, since I hope to oneday have half an Excalibur... 1. blue costume Shadowcat 2. Rahne 3. Captain Britain 4. Psylocke 5. Electro 6. Lizard 7. Scorpion 8. Vulture 9. Jubilee (cartoon style) 10. Xorn (preferably with a New X-Men style Beast, with a better looking cat head than the Astonishing one) Also, never gonna happen but I'd love them to get the rights for a movie 2-pack of Goblin/Doc Ock, to go with the SM3 mates... oh and a Dead Girl or U-Go Girl from X-Statix would be just as awesome/unlikely...
  13. Reideen kinda beat me to it, but recently I've been thinking I'd love a transparent Iceman, but blue-tinted like the mates... would look great next to the Human Torch one they've got coming out... And it wouldn't really be a Mugg, but I'd love a similarly designed R2D2 to sit next to my Threepio... oh, and one of those red guards the Emperor uses.
  14. I'm glad you elaborated on why you disliked it, because I manage to hate Michael Bay quite easily while simultaeneously enjoying the TF movie . I thought it was a LOT better than his typical crap. Less explosions for one, and an actual sense of humor (loved the Autobots "hiding" on the front lawn) -- I mean the first half of the movie with BB was basically a Herbie movie, but funny. Even the action stuff was all done with a sense of humor far beyond the usual Bay fare where nobody could take themselves more seriously. When I saw it I was convinced he must have watched Team America right before making it, and tried to avoid all (well, most) of his usual nonsense out of shame. That said, I can totally see why a lot of big TF fans wanted the robot characters to be more the main focus, but as a more casual TF fan I enjoyed myself much, much more than I expected going in. Also I totally agree the fights were done with WAY too many close-ups, making them hard to follow -- that one awesome shot of Prime and Megs crashing through the freeway should have been the way they shot every fight. Although I thought the same about the fights/car chases in the two new Batman flicks, which were shot way too close up. Anyway, I guess my point is I liked it a lot, and not for love of explosions or Michael Bay. Still, I half expect him to screw up the sequel, and "Revenge of the Fallen" would probably seem like a really lousy title if it wasn't for "Quantum of Solace," which takes up all the title-annoyance I have in me.
  15. All 3 SDCC Muggs are up at BBTS now... I actually paid less for the Iron Man on eBay -- there's a first!
  16. Little late to the game, but I finally saw this a few days ago and read through the thread, thought I'd add a couple thoughts... re: Dent's death, I didn't take it as Batman "killing" him at all. These movies are trying really hard to set this in a mostly "real" world, so you've got a guy who was shot, blacked out, came to to see Dent in mid-coin flip with a gun to a kid's head... his only real option was to rush the guy and try to grab the gun. Unlike in the comics, where time slows to a crawl during a fight and the character can make an informed decision via internal monologue, Wayne had basically no time to think anything out. We know he has the fast ninja reaction times, but he can still make mistakes about the consequences of those reactions (ie. jumping out the window after Rachel, even though he had no real plan to save her -- still not sure how his cape flapping about a bit kept them from dying in that fall, or did I miss something?). Anyway, so he rushed Dent, probably tried to push the kid out of the way, but Dent kept his hold and the three of them went over -- if he's gonna save one it's going to be the innocent. Also we know from Batman Begins, that this Batman sees a difference between outright killing for revenge, and "not saving" a villain that's put himself in harm's way, like Ra's on the crashing train. After the first movie, I was more surprised to see him save the Joker than "let" Dent fall. He even shot those arm-blade things at the Joker's head, which is a pretty lethal move, so he's clearly willing to risk his opponent's death in a fight if it saves innocent lives. re: Dent really being alive, I don't think so, and I hope not. First, if he hadn't died falling off the building, I don't think he'd have lasted long -- hard to fight infection what with the having-no-face thing Second, this movie proved to me that you can "Venom" a bad guy (ie. stick him in the back-end of the movie to support the main bad guy's arc) and actually have it work. I went into TDK thinking Two-Face would be set up for his own sequel, but even in his short screen time I could tell a whole movie of coin-flipping would get old fast, so I think they came up with the perfect solution. re: the Batman growl, I only find it weird when he's just hanging out with Gordon. Like it works for intimidating crooks with brief statements, but in full-on conversations not so much. The weirder thing about Batman is that even when he's in a rush he takes the time to put black makeup around his eyes, under the mask. It makes me laugh to think of the Joker holding everyone hostage while Wayne sits there with a hand mirror and a mascara pencil or something... Also someone mentioned Poison Ivy a while back -- I could maybe see it working, if they ignored the being green and mind-controlling plants, and did her more as botonist psycho using plant-based poisons, like a bio-terrorist almost. Maybe not a main villain, but they could throw her into the mix. Also, Joel Schumacher ruined the original Batman series, not Poison Ivy or Robin specifically. He's the man that turned Gotham into neon camp. But yeah, a 30-year-old Robin makes about as much sense as batsuit nipples.
  17. Glad to hear they're doing revisions for the SW line too... after shelling out on there for the SDCC Iron Man, going to eBay for the Stormtrooper would've sucked... plus the Fett and the Yoda have grown on me since I passed on them the first time round... If only all toy companies made things this easy to find
  18. thanks for the scan, winkerbean... I like the look of the Parker hair on Cosmic Spidey. Looks like the closest they've come to the comic and I've been waiting for something better for the old Unmasked Spidey mate... Brock and the Tarantula dude both look insane, with the giant maniacal grins...
  19. Well I do hate those non-transformable movie figures, as well as the little PVC ones... I just like the Revoltech because they're so poseable, and look like they're right out of the cartoon. The cartoon holds more nostalgia for me than the toys, when I was a kid my parents wouldn't shell out for Transformers really (I had like 2 Gobots, a rock monster, and my only official Transformer -- a Wheelie ). So that's probably why I put much more stock in how they look posed than the transforming, although I'm sure it's more of a 50/50 thing for most fans, especially if they grew up with the toys... I have gotten more into that side of it with the Animated line, since many of them look really character accurate in both forms, which is great.
  20. My parents got rid of most of my toys when we moved countries in 1990, so I can honestly say I haven't once thought about MASK in about 18 years, but I really loved that yellow guy with the bike-copter too! If they remake him (especially if it was with the bike) I would want one for sure... I don't remember much about MASK though -- was it tied into GI Joe somehow, or is Hasbro just randomly throwing it into the Joe line because they have the license sitting around?
  21. Finally found a Jazz, he looks so much cooler in person, probably my favorite design after Grimlock... got a bit worried on the first bit of his transformation though, thought I was going to snap him in half! Now I just have to decide whether to pick up Snarl, since I don't like the photos I've seen of Swoop's dino-form and that ruins the whole "group of Dinobots" I had envisioned on my shelf... Oh, and while looking for the Swoop photos, I saw on a TF website that the Revoltech guys at SDCC were hinting at which figures were next up: supposedly Soundwave and Grimlock, which is awesome. Hopefully they'll include Soundwave's little panther-cassette dude. It'd be great to eventually see Bumblebee, Galvatron, Prowl and Arcee, I really like the line...
  22. Well, we sort of did when he became a main character in Exiles. Personally, having a Spidey 2099 was what made me pay attention to Minimates in the first place, back when I thought I'd just pick up "a couple". I loved that they made a relatively obscure character so early on. Sable (and Firestar too, sort of) is currently in Ultimate Spidey. Gwen Stacy hasn't done much of anything recently, what with being dead, but didn't her illegitimate kids show up a while back or something? Of course if they only released Minimates by their characters' current relevancy in the comics, we'd never have gotten that Black Spidey everyone loves so much (well, until the Back in Black version now), or Death Archangel or Web Armor Spidey or various other favorites...
  23. In the earliest convention photos they showed unmasked Rhodey in the non-gun suit, but since then DST have been posing the masked non-gun suit next to Stark in his iron-underoos, and the masked gun suit next to Rhodey (which implies the guns are now on the variant, which sucks). Haven't seen it officially stated one way or the other, though, so maybe ask in the Ask DST thread (or wait for box art to show up)?
  24. Given the way the Spider-man wave is set up, this seems likely. As well as using bigger characters to carry the weaker ones, it's clear DST want to remake bigger characters to draw in new customers, as they're doing with Spidey and Venom. (And as long as we get half new characters in a wave, I'm all for it.) The only character in your list I'd disagree on would be X-23, who's kinda huge and I think could carry a 2-pack (even though pairing her with Wolvie obviously makes thematic sense). It would be awesome if they paired her with Rahne since I think they're in that new X-Force series together? Also a Xorn would be great, to go with the New X-Men mates, which is one of my favourite "groups" they've done. Maybe with a better designed cat-Beast, since the Astonishing version is so lame...
  25. That's an awesome offer, but I don't want to put someone to the trouble of getting it and re-shipping -- thanks though! Like you said eBay will have some, and hopefully I'm wrong about its being an exclusive keeping it from other websites... My "LAME" was more in reference to the Hasbro site still not shipping internationally (maybe I'm imagining things but I thought they had announced they were going to start quite a while back)... Edit: Also, were these not selling that well at the show? That's surprising, it seems like Muggs are doing really well, but then again it's hard to tell from within the "toy collector bubble" and someone did just post seeing them on discount, so hmmm.
