  1. I don't know. I can't see the line being cancelled. It would be October or later before wave 9 would actually hit shelves, so it may be a little early to even show prototypes. If we reach SDCC and nothing is shown, then we'll stick a fork in our DC mates. I've really enjoyed the DC line. Although I'm a Marvel kid, I really love the DC minimates, almost moreso than some of the Marvel ones. We at least need some of the more mainstream characters made: Black Canary, Kyle Rainer, Plastic Man, The Atom, Captain Atom, Beast Boy, Terra, etc. Not to mention more of the Bat-family and their adversaries (Mad Hatter, Scarecrow, Ra's).
  2. Wow, Nitro is out of left field. I'm liking the new Iron Man too. And we only have to wait until April!!
  3. That big silver minimate, which I assume is the Iron Monger is incredible! That is probably the most detail I've seen on a mate
  4. Yes! More Marvel, please. And characters so obscure I don't even know who they are, and I'm a die-hard Marvel guy! Also, I'm really liking the Rocky III mates. It looks like we do get the alternate hairpiece for Thunderlips (no pimp hat), and Clubber's hair is not sculpted to the head, from what I can tell. The only problem I have is that that War Machine is waaay more detailed than the standard Iron Man mate we already have. James has the better armor. I only noticed one other new Rocky that didn't fit in the Rocky III set or the two pack with Paulie. Maybe they still have to finish the Rocky IV 4 pack? EDIT: I knew I had seen the blue and yellow guy before. He's an old Iron Man villian: The Spymaster
  5. It still seems like an odd accessory. Why is the skull clear, and why can Grodd wear it? If it was a human head, he should have just come with a Ghost Rider head.
  6. Wow, the Charlie Sheen Platoon mate is a really great likeness. And I'm loving the Rocky III set. I can get a "non beat up" boxing Apollo by switching heads with Rocky II, a Clubber Lang (yes!) and a sweet Thunderlips. I'm liking Rocky's belt, as well. I really like the Angel Eyes figure from TGBU, but It seems like I'll be too burnt out on Clint Eastwood sculpts by the time this set is out.
  7. I just picked up my set too. Grodd and Clayface are both 2.5" I don't know the story behind Grodd's skull either. I was surprised at the red hair that came with Flash. I thought this was Barry Allen, but I guess it's Wally (Barry Allen had blonde hair, right?) I was pretty surprised with Lobo too. I haven't opened him yet, but the detail is really nice. The chain is either chrome or real metal. Very nice.
  8. I'd be in. I know I could unload about 10 sets to people who are "offline".
  9. Didn't DST hint in the last Q&A that the Rocky minimates weren't selling as well as they had hoped? I don't mean to be such a downer, because I really want a Clubber Lang and Thunderlips myself. I'm already singing "Eye of the Tiger".
  10. Wow, the choices are pretty interesting. I really like the Season 2 Jack Bauer figure. I needed the short hair and sunglasses for my annoying California preppy boy custom. I'm surprised X3 Colossus wasn't on that podium. Good to see Dr. Strange getting some love.
  11. I guess this explains the explosion of Minimates across other licenses this past year. DST is trying to reduce its dependance on the Marvel license with ST, BSG, moviemates, etc. It just seems like minimates were really picking up across the board, and now we could lose one of the major anchors.
  12. To be fair, this is Joe Quesada's doing. JMS only wrote the dialog. Quesada wrote the plot. But hey, for no reason at all, Harry is back!
  13. That's sick! But I was thinking that too. Buffalo Bill is freaky! "Wasn't she a big fat person?" And a Good, Bad and the Ugly set. Now I can have my Angel Eyes figure shooting up Doc and Marty.
  14. Just sent a PM. That was pretty tough, especially for best minimate. There were just too many good ones. Worst License was also tough to pick, as I liked everything this year.
  15. It's probably a fake or duplicate that someone printed out at the local Kinko's. They probably got the image from someone at DST and blew up the JPEG. And yes, this is my way of scaring people off so I can bid on it.
  16. Helo....looks a lot like Hot Dog. Or is that my imagination? The prototype looked dead on to Helo. Could there have been some manufacturing confusion? Here's the image I got from StuckaKid of the proto:
  17. The same thing happened to me, crushed box and all. I'll give them a call on Friday. $10 is at least another set of minimates.
  18. Got mine in yesterday, just in time since I'm leaving for the holidays. I love the Dr Strange. The jury is still out for me on the Hulk. There is something about him that seems to keep him from being perfect. Certainly a step up from the old Hulk though. Also, I had a pre-order in for the Defenders set, and I placed an order for a bunch of other stuff to get the Web armor spidey. They both arrived in the same (crused) package. It would have been nice of AFX to refund me a little of the shipping charge, if they were automatically combining stuff. As it is, I was hit with about $25 of shipping. There's always hoping for a Squadron Supreme set for Nighthawk.....or he could even be in a Thunderbolts set.
  19. Still nothing for me. I got an e-mail on the 8th saying it was shipping soon, but I haven't gotten another notice that the item ever shipped. I also placed a second order for the web armor spidey, and never got a confirmation e-mail. I'm trying to contact AFX, but can't get through.
  20. I'll be going, since I live in Arlington. I usually go on Fridays, but this year I'll be in Chicago until later Friday night. Saturday is probably going to be busy, so I may just go on Sunday.
  21. I got confirmation too! Yippe kiy yay!
  22. I've only opened Stargirl and STRIPE so far, but I love them. STRIPE (I'm too lazy to type out the periods), is just awsomeness with awesome sauce on the side.
  23. On the minimate front, my grails are silver and gold spideys, the yellow blank, the red SDCC blank, and the white Toy Fair blank. My other grail which I'm getting close to getting is a copy of X-men #1 :o
  24. Zues is certainly the best store in DFW. I don't know if Lonestar is really as bad as some say. They do the same stuff that most other comic shops do, but since its a chain, and they are all over the metroplex, I think they get more criticism. There are a couple of other comic stores in my area (Arlington), but they all seem to gouge just as much as Lonestar. But Lonestar carries minimates and is convienient. It's hit or miss with the people that work there though. Half of them are rude and condescending, the other are just college students.
  25. That's a shame. The maxi-mates are still all kinds of awesome, even though they can't move. If they would have been around $20, they would have sold better, I bet. But business is business. Maybe with advances in resin casting to make things cheaper we may see something similar one day.
