  1. Nonono...not Bird-Brain!!! I'd go with Magneto in this costume -
  2. X-Cellent video, Luke! Exactly what I do when I get a new set. For the record, Rahne is pronounced "rain". I read it as Ronnie for the longest time until it was asked about in a letters column. Oh... and one of the first things I will do is slice off the braid on Rahne's hairpiece. She never had that in the comics and it makes her look too much like Rachel. I'm also thinking of swapping out a Wolverine hairpiece since she usually had the wispy, wolf-hair.
  3. Wow! Meggan is the unexpected standout here. She looks really amazing! Loving the updated Nightcrawler and Juggernaut as well. Captain Britain is the one that just seems off. The smile doesn't really suit him and the design on his helmet looks a bit too rounded. They were always drawn as diamond shapes, IIRC.
  4. Thanks for the feedback, guys. There's just something missing on the Asgardian and I can't put my finger on it. Something that makes it a tad less obvious that the base was Hawkman... open to thoughts and ideas. Maybe a cape?
  5. OMG!!! I want that Marvel Girl! Absolutely SPOT ON! The others are all very nicely executed as well... especially Sway! Great parts choice and one of the most polished looking decals I've ever seen!
  6. This would be awesome, because depending on the parts used for Fury, you could potentially army build both of those SHIELD soldiers by simply replacing head and hair pieces! Precisely my thinking. What I envisioned for Fury would be a dusky trenchcoat worn over his standard SHIELD uniform... something like what we see in this image: http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/8190/...ry_in_color.jpg though with white accents. Like Multiple Man, he'd come with alternate limbs so you could have him with or without the trench. I'd also toss in a sculpted chest holster to wear when he's out of the trenchcoat. The SHIELD agents would each have the standard SHIELD uniform and a fairly generic head. For added variety, the set with the female agent could feature Sgt. Fury in his Howling Commandos look (easily accomplished with existing parts) or a retro-cool Steranko Tech Nick Fury (Image).
  7. I'm not nearly as interested in movie 'Mates as I am the corresponding comic versions. My post-movie dream waves would be: THOR Classic Thor/Sif (Using the Thor from the Disney Exclusive Set with a better cape and expression) Hela/Fandrall Hogun/Volstagg Enchantress/Executioner CAPTAIN AMERICA Super-Soldier Steve Rogers/Sharon Carter Falcon/Baron Zemo Arnim Zola/Winter Soldier updated Nick Fury/SHIELD Agent (Male) updated Nick Fury/SHIELD Agent (Female)
  8. This is more likely to emerge as a Box Set with Havok, Polaris, Wolfsbane and Strong Guy, I'd think. You're right that it wouldn't require a lot of new parts and there really aren't a lot of potential accessories for these characters. I'd like to see extra parts to do a non-wolfed out Rahne. For Guido, I'd go with a sculpted head like Hannibal Lecter's rather than a curl hairpiece. This way we'd get sculpted goggles and the curl with a head that compliments his size. Basic energy effects and a flight stand for Lorna, maybe some energy rings that attach to Havok's wrists? Something glow in the dark would rock and could be used with the original Havok as well. Follow this up with a Multiple Man/Sinister 2-pack in a follow-up wave so you can more easily army build and we're golden. And the idea of having AoA Sinister as the variant is shear brilliance!
  9. Yes, he comes with a second set of normal transluscent hands and feet. While I think it's very cool that this set has the extra heads and such, I have to say that I think they missed the mark in capturing the character's personalities in their faces. Rahne looks a bit too made up and sultry. 'Berto looks too deadpan. He should have a charming grin that portrays his flirty nature. Sam also has a very stern look that's not 100% accurate to how he was portrayed. A really good set that could have been amazing with a little more personality in each face.
  10. Hmmm... I wonder if we'll actually be seeing a $8.99 price tag in the end. This is MSRP, after all. Key word being recommended. The previous TRU waves had a $7.99 MSRP when it debuted at the Cons and TRU sold them for $6.99 before jumping up to $7.49. Here's hoping they continue to sell these at below the MSRP.
  11. Kinda wondering the same myself. It feels like the the 2-pack waves have now gone to TRU, with box sets for the comic book stores & conventions? Well, before we panic... keep in mind that this is Day One of NYCC and they often add more to their displays each day to maintain interest/floor traffic. I say.... bring it on!
  12. Stoked to hear about all the upcoming X-Men releases! Especially Magik and a new Juggernaut! That boxed set sounds pretty uninspiring... but I'm thinking it's going to be in the same vein as the Heroic Age box sets --- a way for new collectors to grab some mainstays in one shot. I'm betting we'll see a very standard Spidey, an updated, more detailed version of Wolverine's primary costume, a Bulked up Venom and a simplified version of the super--HTF Deadpool. Can't wait to see PICS!!! Thanks for sharing.
  13. 52 episodes are currently in production. I'm curious to know how many of you already get Disney XD? I don't and I fear this series will flop as a result... kind of like WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN. Had that been on Nickelodeon instead of NickToons, I'd have watched religiously. Hopefully, these will be re-aired on the regular Disney Channel so I can catch them.
  14. I'd love to see a DC Minimates revival! In addition to that petition, we should include a sure-fire best-selling DC Minimates Wave 2.1 Any thoughts? (It's good to dream people!)
  15. BTW...did anyone else have a problem with the chest tampo on their TRU Namor?
  16. So I just had a birthday and got a Cylon Raider and the remaining half of the TRU FF wave I needed! In addition, I won an auction for 10 'Mates including the four from the Friends & Foes set, Kingpin, Rhino, Electro and a few Spidey variants all for $25 shipped! But the best gift of all came from a surprising source... TOYS R US! I just found out that the craptastic Babies R Us nearest my house is being renovated into a side-by-side and the TRU half opens this Friday!!! This means I won't have to drive 25 minutes to get to the nearest source for Minimates!! How's that for a birthday gift that keeps on giving!
  17. I agree 100% that this chest is just awkward looking. I'm convinced that what is labeled in this chart as "breast bottom" is actually meant to be ribcage definition. There's a false comparison with 'Mates like Rogue and Firestar due to the red pattern that runs down the middle of Jean's AOA costume ... which seems to be too wide and looks like the body definition lines on most female 'Mates. If you look at the art from the comic page, the black side panels begin right under the breast and should cover the sides of her torso. Instead, it's too wide and the lack of actual torso/waist definition only makes matters worse. What seems to be missing on this figure is lower breast definition. What's labeled as "ribs" is more like where the waist definition comes into play on the other 'Mates shown, IMO. The super-high cleavage isn't helping this any. The shine just adds to the confusion and the shoulder piece isn't helping. *sigh* Can't wait to see Luke's fix. EDIT: Twisted Two-Face got his in as I was typing mine. I think we are in agreement here. When I get a chance, maybe I'll try a subtle PhotoShop fix to illustrate how easy this might have been to fix.
  18. How timely! I just got a TRU Thing with a bum elbow joint. Glad to hear that they are responding... better late than never. Speaking of the new FF wave... both my Thing and Reed Richards had some odd white dribblings of paint on their faces. Did anyone else get this? Not a huge deal as it came off easily enough with a toothpick dipped in Goof-Off and carefully scraped away.... just not something I've seen before.
  19. Could someone post a pic of the Atlantean without his chestplate and helm on? I've yet to find one of these and am curious to see how they handled the tribal tattoos.
  20. I may have to swing by there tomorrow! I picked up Reed, Johnny, Thing & Doom in Pinole, CA along with a MAX Jet to use that nifty $5 off $25 coupon someone posted! I need an extra Reed to do a flamed off Johnny, tho!
  21. HOLY COW!!! These are incredible! Riddler is 10x better than the actual figure and Willie Lumpkin?!? SPOT ON! The carrier bag is genius! Makes me hope the MAX line lasts long enough for us to get Postal Service Workers!! Imagine this guy packed with the cranky Postwoman who weighs our packages! GOLD I tell you!
  22. Very enlightening, Luke! That sander is some serious customizing equipment! You mention that there's rarely good sources for the backs of characters. In the case of older Marvel characters, you may want to check out the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe - Master Edition. This series featured posed front, back and side views of each character. Like this one: Now how about a cool Man-Ape custom next? I have the series if you're ever in need of a scan. I'll see if Awesome Android had an entry.
  23. I'd call that an inevitability. Judging from other preview images, it lights up in multiple colors as well... easy variants! I still can't believe the Heroic Age box set isn't this Spidey, the new Iron Man armor, Steve Rogers new duds and a fourth more interesting choice (Luke Cage, Wasp, Mockingbird) than Thor.
  24. We'll end up with the 90's Diversity Team , 1 white douche guy, one black guy, one asian female, and one dude in a wheelchair. Well, for me it's about kids who pick these up seeing themselves reflected in their real world heroes. I think that's really powerful for kids. Plus, I want my son to know that there are women who are firefighters and cops who are Asian, etc. etc. On another note, I think if there was some gender diversity it would garner some positive press and parents might buy these for their daughters and they'd sell to a wider audience which is good for the brand.
  25. WOWZERS! These look spectacular! I can't wait for these to hit stores! I only have one complaint... do they all have to be white guys? How about a female cop? Or some ethnic diversity?
