As I said in other threads, I consider many of the employees at my local TRU better friends than many of those with whom I work at me job. I know more about their personal lives than many of my coworkers. While I know some of them have good chances at other establishments, there are some of the employees that I know are really going to struggle to make ends meet. TRU has been their home for years (over a decade in some cases) and their quirks may not lend themselves to ‘new’ employment. While I like to shop and look for new stuff, the main reason I would visit weekly was to see my friends and I am gutted that this will be over.

I picked up 4 Chameleon sets from my TRU. PM me if interested. Cost ($6.32US) plus shipping. I will send internationally. I would prefer to help 4 people with this, first message, first served. If I only have a couple takers, I will sell 2 to the same person. I have heard from 4 people. I will post if I find any more sets.

I am confused by what they mean ‘sold’ in all these comments. Like individual TRU locations will be sold to become independent toy stores with all the inventory? Another company will buy 400 locations, change the name, and keep on keeping on?

This was my assumption as well. It is a nod to Yelena without needing to include yet another throwaway villain in an already packed movie.

I will see if my store still has them when I visit next. I will pick them up to help out here.

And remember that new tooling costs DST money. They try to recoup that by reusing it as much as possible. Paint variants help with that. This gives us 3 waves with only the initial tool costs. As the line does well, they can do more new tooling, or not.

If TRU closes all its stores, yes, probably. I would not think it would be affected by them closing some of the stores, other than it would mean more mates for the stores staying open.

Madison TRU just put out (finally got in) a case of these. The manager got them off the truck for me thinking they were the Infinity War ‘mates.

I stopped out today and spoke with the manager at the Madison TRU. He is optimistic and said he is 80% confident that they will figure out the logistics and stay open. He said that they would know what would be happening on Monday some time. In the event TRU does close, there would be a 3 month window while they try to sell off merchandise during ‘liquidation.’ And it, too, was a very bust day in TRU here. One of the employees I know mentioned a Facebook post that he felt was really driving people in today. The biggest thing I feel TRU could do to help sales is let people know they are still open.

I too visit (the Madison) TRU at least once a week. I know half the employees on a talk-about-the-family basis. My first Minimates came from TRU.

I know it will not happen, but it would be nice to get an army dump assortment for this movie á lá Captain America, Thor and Iron Man 2. 3 Outrider w/ 4 arms 3 Outrider w/ 6 arms 2 Dora Milaje 2 Jabari 1 of Thanos’ Black Order 1 Hawkeye or War Machine

I saw in an email that ThinkGeek and GameStop have an exclusive metallic paint version of the Iron Giant with GID eyes.

You could also ask them to price match. They still do that in store, for TRU.com or for other retailers.

Taking advantage of a best offer should not make you feel guilty. Best offers are used to negotiate the price; you come in with your first offer less than you are actually willing to pay. If they accepted it, they were asking too much in the first place.

I saw a case (6) at Madison on Thursday. They had 2 regular and 4 exclusives, so hopefully they will not be too hard to find for those that want them.

After getting home last night, I had a call from one of the managers who gave me a rain check. He said that the were listed as a recall in his system. He is going to check the system again today and call if they can be sold. I understand how this embargo date works, but the way Walgreens has handled it seems to be a mistake. Labeling something as recalled can really scare some people. Imagine little Timmy’s mom getting to the checkout only to be told the Minimates are on recall; that does it for little Timmy ever getting Minimates again and possibly have any he has taken away. I really hope we can actually purchase them today!

Yep. I have been rejected at 2 Walgreens now. I got rain checks, the bigger issue is if they put them out for others to grab. One manger tried to grab ALL the movie mates from the shelf for ‘recall.’
