TBT's Latest customs...

Recommended Posts

Yeah but is'nt Bishops M painted on? So it might be a challenge to remove it.

I never tried taking Bishop's M off because I don't have any extra Bishop heads, but I have taken other facial features from other mates heads (eyebrows, pupils, whatever) with just a basic pocket knife. If you're careful, the scratch shouldn't be noticeable.

Yes, just last night, I removed the brown spots from Gollum's feet and legs! I used a pocket knife to get rid of most of it and then nail polish remover to get whatever was left :)

'The Directors Cut' redux ( 06/06)

Ok so here we go... a new start with some old customs...

These are most of the old customs that were posted on the old sites and some time or another, some arent my best work but it's fun to se how things progressed.

for want of a better way to list them I'm doing it chronologically.

Vison (12/04)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/andcape.jpg

My first ever attempt at a (non quick) custom and probably my most ambitious use of Sculpey!

Sorry about the fuzzy pic...

and for those who never saw it an unrealised test of the variant....

Phasing Vision (12/04)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/variant.jpg

Using the same decals but dumped cos at the time I only had enamel paints that never quiet managed to dry so left sticky yellow everywhere...this fig was eventually just thrown out!

Ultimate Colossus (1/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/col2.jpg

Silver sharpie and decals...damn those belts were fiddly to apply!, I actually remade the decal as a complete chess piece and it looks better (will update pic sometime.)

Xorn (1/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/xorn.jpg

Awfull pic but a full decal head wrap, another first for me at the time.

Hal Jordan (1/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/hal.jpg

Totally a quick custom, but effective non the less, now has bruce banner hair. It would be 4 months before I put him in costume!

Bane (1/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/bane.jpg

Probably still one of my faves to this day, a quick custom with a specialised head....simple but effective.

She Hulk (1/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/Shehulk.JPG

Grin this one is not the widemouthed frog that I first produced, but the finished article..

Labcoat Tony Stark (2/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/labtony.JPG

Possibly the first 'labcoat' custom out there? another quick custom with one piece that makes it different.

Iron Man - approx issue 250! (3/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/im.jpg

One of the more obvious changes in the Ironman Armour, its actually hard to get the minor variations of an IM armour to work on this scale so I picked a fairly different look for him - one of my first major paintjobs... and it shows.

Franklin Richards (3/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/Franklin.jpg

lol a mini-mini mate coming in at about 1.5" tall

Mohawk Storm (3/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/Stormside.jpg

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/stormfront.jpg

I kinda like this one still, it's probably a fig that'll never get get made unless as a variant.

Jean Grey - Green Phoenix (3/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/phoenix.jpg

Made before we knew the release date of the Red Phoenix, I was pretty pleased with it back then...

Black mask (3/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/bmask.jpg

The face on this was a pain to do I screwed up 2 heads trying this before getting one I liked.

Modern Ironman (4/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/mim.JPG

Updated (10/05) with New legs... A Modern IM is very high on my wants lists from DST... Come on Chuck we know you love the tinman. Once again not the greatest pic, makes the boots look really odd which isn't the case in real life!

Green Lantern (Hal - pre DCD news) (4/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/halgl.JPG

I have a bunch of GL's planned but never seem to find time to make'em.

Luke Cage (4/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/napowerman.jpg

Simple quick custom with a 'home made' beanie. Come on DST you could make a simple benaie like this one!

Peter Rasputin(4/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/petey.JPG

Another simple quick custom but one that I felt had to be done.

Starbuck - Classic BSG (4/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/starbuck.JPG

Pre-empting AA by a solid 6 months it was the first of a planned line of these from me...now I know we're getting the real deal..those may not get made.

Da-Bomb (4-5/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/dabomb.JPG

Not really a full on custom but probably the one I'll be remembered for, With Adam from AA's assistance I made & personalised 100 of these for the members of the AA boards.

Anakin, ObiWan & the Clonetrooper(6/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/anakin.JPG

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/obi.JPG

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/clone.JPG

Based on the awesome designs of Basement24, with his permission and template I modified his drawings to make what are probably my favourite customs.

Deckard - Blade Runner.(7/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/Deckard.jpg

"He say you bwade wunner" - Currently the favourite of my customs...

Arwen LotR (7/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/arwen.jpg

Just to prove I could do LotR if I wanted. This is a quick custom that one day I will paint up a coloured dress for. In case you're wondering.... it's a simple hotswap of Gandalfs body with a PALZ Willow hair and a Buffy Face. Very Simple but effective I think.

Jason Todd - The Red Hood! (7/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/rh1.jpg

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/jt1.jpg

Big Big batman storyline so at the time so.... had to do him, masked and unmasked

Captain Britain (9/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/cb.jpg

After Chucks reluctance say he'd make one of these I thought I'd do one...

Oli Queen - Green Arrow (10/05) - Pre DCD anouncement

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/Oli.jpg

Another that I've been meaning to do for a while....I was going to make him a little hat outta sculpey but in the end decided he didn't need it.

TPT.... (10/05)

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/tbtpimp.jpg

I dont think I need to say anything about this do you?

Col (cap) America Zombie stylee

http://www.geocities.com/thatbloketimbo/zcap.JPG

My first attempt at a marvel zombie... I was going to do more but started a craze and within days you guys had made most of em! :)

As always despite these being blasts from the past...Honest thoughts ideas and critiisms are welcome.

That Clone Trooper is very awesome. I like the changes to the blue IM. I also like the War Machine improvements, but like the reflective lines on the older helmet detail.

Excellent stuff Tim. Bane, Xorn, and Phoenix are all fantastic pieces of work. The Star Wars stuff is perfect. You absolutely nailed Anakin. But my favourite is still Cap B. Please please please make me one.

VERY MUCH A WORK IN PROGRESS

mockluke.JPG

Based on the simplest of 3 Luke skywalkers by the ever wonderful Basement24.

http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.ph...findpost&p=3124

This just a quick paper and tape mockup and I'm still jiggling the dimensions of the face a little.

Also I swapped the flicky fringe out for a more 'ruffled look' not sure why but this seems more 'luke' to me than the combover....

Thoughts...?

I did this in about an hour this morning..... Leia is going to take a lot longer :D

That and I didn't get a template for Leia to work on yet... ;)

Ooohh. That only took an hour?

More or less,

The body is all black which makes life really easy....

I had Basement24's template to work from ( yes I get a standing on the shoulders of giants feeling when worknig with his stuff.), but as always I had to retrace it so that I could get a 'fill' on things like the eyebrows and eyes in AI. Barry outlines in AI then colours in photoshop which means that I have to do some jiggling to get a 'print at once' coloured AI file...

So it wasn't hugely difficult... so far...

T.

p.s. I'm seriously thinking about digging out an old printer I have that does Gold for Leia... but we'll see!

I think it's great how you both combine on these projects.

I'll second that! I would love to see Star Wars minimates although as I've said before I could hardly afford another line. I wonder if AA has already thought about or made a Star Wars Minimates proposal. These things would sell themselves!

nice! all your decals came out really clean.

Oddly these are just rough prints on regular paper stuck on with doublesided tape to get a feel before I waste decal paper...Something I 've learned is the best way t oget the results I want without spending a fortune on decal paper.

Decals will follow when I'm happy with how it looks...

Oh and I'm working on 80's hair... I had a discussion and it seems he was mostly 'fringed' for this movie, the mad mop would work better for SE and ESB I think....

I totally love to work with Barry's designs, they are so fun and making the changes bring them to 3D makes it more interesting for me than just a 'print and stick' exercise....

As long as he's willing to share then i'm more than happy to adapt them, I still think of them as his minimates though :)
