buttheadsmate
I have never seen Series 2 on ebay. I have all but one guy from series 1 who looks just like 'Brains' in 'Thunderbirds' .......carded! The bloody problem with kubricks is & always will be just when you think you have a particular series completed.....lo & behold you realise there's another secret 'secret'. Tokyo Tribe is almost impossible to finish
karamazov80
Yeah, it is a real crap shoot in terms of what you are gonna see at a given time (or over long periods of time) vs. what you won't. Mostly, because of all these licenses that aren't of much interest to a wide non-Asian audience. Unlike Star Wars and Metal Gear, they don't get imported to the U.S. (or UK) apart from some of these little Japanese import places, the collectors tend to be rabid and the potential profits from re-selling are low, and so the supply on eBay is really low. Regarding the chases that we don't know about, I figure there are some Japanese websites with a more complete list of Kubricks than we have seen in the English language sites. Would be cool to one day run across the the Kubrick Database.

Ninja Mate
just sharing: I have a complete set of LOST Kubricks (minus chase figures and Jack/Be@rbrick 2 pack). I would eventually like to get a set of the Matrix Kubricks. would love to get an Indiana Jones. Not much of a fan of the Be@rbricks. buttheadsmate
Probably the best way of getting an Indiana Jones is to get the box set with the bearbrick* , there are two other versions which are very similar but not different enought to warrant the extra cost. I still haven't got my head around why Indiana Jones is a chase figure for Series 2 of Star Wars kubricks? *Do what everybody else does & just throw the Bearbrick away Edited August 12, 2010 by buttheadsmate

buttheadsmate
There seems an awful lot of Marvel kubricks abroad on ebay at the moment has someone heard something I haven't ??? Re-release?
karamazov80
Wouldn't surprise me in the least if they did. Probably a series of 2-packs including the most desirable of the previous releases, including chase variants like Spider-Ham. By the way, we need a Spider-Ham Minimate ASAP. Ninja Mate
is there someplace local (general question) that you can pick these up in person? LCS?
karamazov80
Probably not, though Toys R Us carried the Watchmen 3 packs and others were available through Diamond. They are primarily released for the Asian market. Which ones are you looking for? Edited August 18, 2010 by karamazov80
Ninja Mate
Probably not, though Toys R Us carried the Watchmen 3 packs and others were available through Diamond. They are primarily released for the Asian market. Which ones are you looking for? not too much in particular since I am new to kubricks at the moment. But I would like to get a set of the matrix figures, Indiana Jones, and a few others. I know those are older sets and will have to resort to ebay for those, I just didnt know if there was a place you could walk in and buy them. I got my LOST collection at Urban Outfitters when they clearanced them.
karamazov80
Yeah, Urban Outfitters carried those awhile back as well as some Minimate packs, but I don't think they have had any other Kubricks. Comic shops will sometimes have them, but no other retailer really carries that stuff that I know of. Matrix figures aren't very popular based on what I've seen, so you shouldn't have problems getting those for reasonable prices on eBay (excluding, possibly, the chases). There were only 2 regular Indiana Jones Kubricks released--one chase with Star Wars wave 2, and one with the 2-pack with the Idol Be@rbrick discussed previously. I think the 2 pack was imported by Diamond (they were sold through several online e-tailers), but I'm not sure. There was also a 400% (4 X as large) Indy Kubrick released in Japan. No Belloq, Toht, or Short Round, sadly. The Planet of the Apes multi-packs and Batman 5 packs were distributed by Diamond years ago. buttheadsmate
is there someplace local (general question) that you can pick these up in person? LCS? I can't say for sure but I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get kubricks more readily in the States these days because Diamond Select is the distributor in the US....all the latest 2 pack Disney re-release sets have their name emblazoned on the packaging . The Matrix stuff is quite nice & the secrets are fairly rare although 'The Twins' are quite unique (or not) because collectors are never sure if they are the same or different.....is a set complete without 2 of the same item? Are they really the same?
Ninja Mate
thanks for the info. Here is my small Kubrick collection. Just got the skywalker in X-Wing outfit today. One of my favorite costumes, I think becuase of the bright colors. edit: and got teh LOST Be@rbrick a few days ago from ebay. Bought the other Lostees about a year ago for $1.99 each! karamazov80
That was an absolute steal for those Lost Kubs. I also like the X-Wing pilot Luke quite a bit.
buttheadsmate
Like Sam says, steal! Generally kubrick commons end up being worth very little but for some reason Lost bucked the trend ,,,,,Charlie & Hurley are rare as you probably know! If you find another guy like the X wing pilot with a different helmet & a beard (preferably carded) .....it's your birthday because he is probably the most expensive/rarest/desirable item of them all ....Jorg Sacul ...which allegedly was produced in tiny numbers. hulk197
I balked at the LOST Kubricks at Urban Outfitters when I saw them for 2 or 3 dollars. I should have just bought them all. UO also sold the Where the Wild Things Are Kubricks and they were recently clearanced for $2.99 each. They sell a lot of other Urban Vinyl including the Simpsons and Futurama blind boxed figures. buttheadsmate
It may surprise some of you when I say that I don't think kubricks will ever really grab the US punter in the way Minimates have. I was tempted to say US/UK/EU but technically Minimates aren't for sale outside of the US & perhaps Canada .
karamazov80
I don't think the "designer" type figures (which people probably consider Kubricks to be) are generally very popular here. Though they keep getting made, which seems to contradict my argument, they never seem to sell. Mighty Muggs didn't last very long, Qees never took off, the giant Mez-Itz just clog pegs, Kubricks don't sell, etc. Minimates and Kubricks are very different in one sense--Minimates are "action figures." You can move their joints around and pose them in silly ways, etc. Kubricks lack articulation, which I think hurts their popularity in the U.S., where kids and collectors place a premium on those things. Of course, folks in Asia care about that, too (look at Revoltechs, Figmas, etc.), but they also have a big market for the designer-type stuff that we seem to lack in the U.S.
