  1. I knew I should have pre-ordered when the price was cheaper! I'm sure they would have just canceled it anyway, like a few years ago when BossFight accidentally let me order a bunch of stuff at "retailer discount prices" and then prompted cancelled hundreds of dollars of merch because I was just a normal guy. ? I shudder to think what these announcements might be.

    Black Hole Vinimates

Been over a year and these never have come back around for re-release. I see quite a few sites have them for pre-order though. Am I to assume these are stuck on a barge somewhere? Or are these pre-orders just fantasy?
  3. I mean, you can say it's not, but it kind of still is. I'm not trying to be overly pessimistic here, you'll find I'm a pretty positive guy. But I know a lot of people who were a bit upset at the price for the FCBD exclusive 4 pack, but were willing to let it slide because it was an exclusive (which always seems to push prices up a bit) and it was Joe. We were repeatedly told that wasn't the start of the line, this new set would be. I think a lot of people were excited to settle into a bit more traditional MM line and pricing for Joe. Instead we start off this license with two repaints and the highest prices we've ever seen for Minimates. It pretty much feels like this is dead before it ever even gets started. Again, other 4 packs of other licenses are also going up for pre-order for less. I can't help but feel that Joe fans are being hosed in that regard. This also comes at a bad time, (if what I read in other threads is true) because I guess Minimates can no longer be sold in 2 packs, which just obliterates a lot of the potential that the Joe line had because of all the army building potential. We'll see how it all shakes out, and I want the line to succeed but it feels like DST is tripping over it's own feet here, especially when you can buy a brand new fully sculpted GI Joe for $12 or a Minimate repaint for $10. I don't think it bodes well.
  4. I quite enjoyed getting MM at Walgreens. Always had pretty good luck, as there's a Walgreens on every corner. Often had to hunt, but it was easy enough generally. I even bought a ton of figures I didn't necessarily want, to support the concept. I hadn't visited this thread in ages, but I've noticed that all my Walgreens no longer have MM and it seems like they're kinda out of the toy business in general with most consolidating their toys with the dog toy aisle lol. But I came into this thread hoping to read some good news, only to see more crap dead. Blah.
  5. This line could be a lot of things, but at this price, I'm guessing it'll just be like a lot of recent lines... canceled. Hopefully we get the full team of MMPR, some putties and Zedd/Rita before they inexplicably raise the price of that line too.
  6. Yeah I don't get it. Last set was $30. Repaints of two of those figures and now the price jumps another $10?! Finally a really great non-Marvel Minimate line that could have some legs, so of course DST bungles it up.
  7. Not comparable, IMO. They could easily pack an army builder with another army builder at retail. Packing them with name characters is a mistake. EDIT: I should note, I was referring to 2 packs, not 4 packs. But honestly even with 4 packs, Joe army builders are popular enough to support themselves. Anyone who thinks otherwise, doesn't understand the Joe property. DST should make sure not to make that mistake. Nothing annoyed Joe collectors more than having to purchase multiple Dukes and Snake-Eyes to army build. Hasbro eventually got that point and started packing army builders together.
  8. This line has tons of army builders, there is no reason not to make army builder packs. Even if it's 1 Cobra Trooper and 1 Viper, or 1 Officer and 1 (Insert 100 other Cobra ranks) etc. You get the idea. There is ZERO reason to pack Duke with a Trooper. Also hopefully the impending disaster failure of a Snake-Eyes movie better not screw these Minimates up. That movie will bomb, but hopefully this line can still thrive. Previous GI Joe movie bombs have screwed up other Joe lines.
  9. Good news - BHM is going to bankroll a new series of exclusive Minimates! Bad news - It's all variants of Chef Duff. THIS IS A JOKE... Just having some fun, ya'll.
  10. No interest in NBX for me, so womp womp.
  11. I'm excited there are MM exclusives at all.
  12. I hope it's translucent Tron Minimates.
  13. I need a Web-Man ASAP! The Marvel Legend looks great. Now get me a minimate!
  14. Yeah with all due respect to whatever Joe movies/TV shows are coming out... DON'T DO PRODUCT FOR THEM! Sorry, but GI Joe 25th was the best line ever, and it died because of the Joe movie figures. Anyway, these look great. Scarlett is an odd choice (not as a choice, but as in the first box set) but I'm here for it. $30 isn't cheap, but I'm all in. Exciting to hear about possible Walgreens figures too. Although that could become a headache, the possibility is exciting. I will order tons of these.
  15. I don't know if these posts are sarcastic or not, but I think the Hasbro thing is kinda like, a pretty big deal.
  16. I think putting Lady Jaye in the first box set would be a mistake. She should come later, with Flint. It'll be a while before that series gets going anyway.
  17. Could do a lot of different packs realistically. Would be a slam dunk license.
  18. GI Joe is not like other franchises. You do not need an "anchor character". Not trying to be snarky to anyone here, BTW. I think an "Undercover" option is fine as an example, but you'd be just as successful in my mind if you sold a 4 pack of troopers, with 3 troopers and 1 officer. To Joe fans, army building is half the battle (see what I did there) and there's literally NO other franchise that even comes close to the army building potential this has. Not even SW. There are dozens of types of Cobra army building characters. All well liked. I mean you could do entire waves of nothing but army builders (not that I'm suggesting that). Distribution is always the issue with Joes, hard to get certain army builders, etc. But Minimates format IMO, allows for it in an incredible way. And in the past Hasbro has forced people to buy Dukes and Snake Eyes and such to get some of the army builders and it just frustrates people. Again, just my .2, but Joe fans would really embrace army builder 2 packs I believe. It's very different than other franchises in that way.
  19. Nah, Duke wears bright yellow. Point is, Army Builders should be packed with other Army Builders. License to print money.
  20. You Sentai customs give me hope for what DST could do if they do manage to get MMPR!
