  1. Hmmm... I feel would have been better the other way around, the boxset has Hydro-man to lure people in after the mass market release of the rest of the wave.
  2. Nope, as Lego have that sewn up already. But yeah, the mass market versus the specialist market (the whole reason DC Direct exists) are entirely different things.
  3. Well... if Target have pulled back on Marvel mates, then AFX are pretty much the only retailer left who does exclusives so makes sense.
  4. If we take his responses on face value, they are offering but retailers aren't interested. Of course the problem is that BSG and Speed Racer aren't kid friendly or kid focused lines so up against a brick wall. Problem is apart from Marvel, which we know can't have vehicles or playsets, all the DST Minimate licenses are collector/adult based and thus cut-off from the mass-market to a large degree.
  5. Different SM3 mates: Good actually for those of us who bought the Preview pack... but lukewarm on powerhouse chest piece versions, Spidey isn't muscle guy... Retailers aren't interested in BGC exclusives: Somewhat sad considering the volume of BGC mates that may never see the light of day, but BGC seems to be a cursed license. First glance it looks good, but both AA and DST had having trouble selling people on it, and only going to get worse now the show is to be canceled.
  6. I tend to think that the Black Costume has a large degree of popularity even before the movie came out, which is why pretty much every Spidey toy line had one long before the live action movie version appeared, and it's why it was picked for instead of say Scarlet Spider or Silver Armor Spidey, for many it is the most well known comic costume variation.
  7. I know... but...guh.... Giant Man Minimate.... fear of only one ever....
  8. No, it's actually the hair piece of the Visorless Ultimate Cyclops, the chase figure from the third Marvel wave. In general DST have said they dislike to mix and match molding between lines, at least until the line is dead it seems re C3 items like Supe's cape being used by Sentry, and the inclusion of SF energy blasts to represent Sandman and Hydro Man's powers is well....
  9. I think better odds of a DCD exclusive than more blanks at this point.
  10. glick! Hate Zombies.... but Giant Man mate....
  11. We've got a thread in progress in the general forum because DST don't mention what license the exclusive is for http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?showtopic=2725
  12. dang, I was hoping that these would beat the "true" Spidey 3 waves and actually be out while the movie was out, June/July likely to become even more top-heavy
  13. I don't mind a re-release too much, but even though Melee Black costume Spidey has an entirely different spider emblem design (better than a simple date/C3 feet change) DST felt that it was too close to the mark to do as a straight un-damaged variation. They really do seem to be honoring their stated "chases will never be re-released" line. Also the "they did it too soon" laments don't hold water, as because if they had waited people would have still complained that such a demanded variation wasn't yet made, not to mention an even worse fate if the line had died before it was released (understandably more likely a fear back in the early days than now)
  14. Another vote for Deadpool, but the two Marvel Minimates I really want are both in my sig, She-Hulk is on the way, just need Ms. Marvel now
  15. First was Black Costume Spidey, which murdered my "block figures... ugh.... look how ugly there are" feelings in their sleep. Of course technically I didn't buy another mate until Series 6...
  16. That seems to be a common thing for DST (and Art Asylum for that matter), they're not great for getting product out while a movie is at cinemas or TV show actually still running... Personally I think we'll see up to BGC Wave 3, which according BGC toy interview in the latest ToyFare is the point they've seriously considered up to with future waves hanging on how well those waves sell.
  17. Depends if production was already underway before the announcement of the 4th season.
  18. I use mine "hostage with today's newspaper" style to prove I have items in hand to trade with for the want/have list
  19. I don't think DCD mates will be effected in the short term, and no chance of chases of dropping the 2.5", but are DCD that chummy with DST?
  20. that.... that's actually fairly nice.
  21. The Marvel Knights 4-pack never eventuated, it was meant to include new Marvel Knights versions of Daredevil and Ghost Rider along with re-issues of Assault Punisher and Blade, but the Daredevil and Ghost Rider appeared ina Target 2-pack so everybody has assumed the 4-pack is dead.
  22. Yeh! And now I won't be bored at work again
  23. It's not impossible, I still stand by the believe that John Stewart is a C3 mate due to his cartoon styling, but more likely revised mates of the characters.
  24. Problem is large production = lower cost per item, small production = higher cost per item The cost of overall development, design, tooling, shipping are static and are shared by the entire production run, and while the run drops in number those costs stay the same and that drives up the share each item must cover and thus price of item. How many people would still pre-order if RRP was 200 or 300% more than wave one? It's why a lot of times it's easier to simply cancel a badly ordered/pre-ordered line instead of either jacking the price up or taking a bath on pegwarmers. Of course a moot point if the line didn't even get to the stage of production line tooling of molds...
