  1. Check a few pages back, we might have solved this clue already. The first clue might be Jim Lee Storm and today's clue might be Hydra Agent. D'oh! Sorry, should have gone back to the next page before posting. I think you're definitely right. Hydra Agent didn't cross my mind, but that's very good. Man, Luke, you are a man of many talents! Even if you're wrong, I think DST should make whatever you come up with!
  2. New clue must have just gone up: May 1, 2009 : System Overloaded, Please Reboot 8 45 41 78 17 17 64 89 81 96 I have no idea what this is. Going by Lobsterman's cypher, The first letter of the first word would be "h", and the last letter of the first word and second letter of the second would be "a". so H---a A----. I don't think the first one is Jim Lee Storm.
  3. Well, the bad news is that the poll is now off the front page of the AA site, and almost off the first page of the blog. You would think they would have a link to the poll embedded somewhere on the front page. Anyway, I doubt we'll see too many more votes; Storm and CM are almost definite at this point, with Spidey, MM and the Beyonder battling for the last two spots.
  4. I did the same My goblin needs to have some pointy boots. I kept the pumpkin bomb hand too, although it doesn't match the new gauntlet that well. It adds spice. I tried that out, but I just didn't like it as much. I do miss the pumpkin bomb hand, though. Sigh.
  5. Minimate heads have definitely gotten bigger over time. I first noticed this when I decided to put my J. Jonah Jameson mask on a different body to have both him and the Chameleon. The mask was slightly too small for newer mates; there was a little sliver of the head underneath showing. It wasn't until I stuck the mask on an older head that it worked right. Dunno if it has anything to do with the hole in the head, though. I bought the villains set yesterday; it's worth it for the Skull and the Goblin but the other two are a bit of a disappointment. Magneto's helmet is a bit inexcusable in my eyes; if I were a new collector buying this as a starter set (DST's stated goal with these sets), I'd be very unimpressed by that. Doom is a nice repaint of the figure I thought most needed to be redone, but they didn't correct the things I think are most lacking of the figure (the cape and skirt), so it's a wash. The redone Goblin is perfect, though. BTW, I don't know if anyone else has done this or mentioned it, but I took the boots off the original GG and stuck them on the new one (I'd already taken the old one apart for a Silver Age Brainiac I'm working on, so it worked out well). They fit absolutely perfectly. In fact, the purple of the boots matches much better with the purple of the new figure then the original (I wonder if they planned that...). Anyway, I know that some people hate those clunky extra boots, but I like 'em. He doesn't feel like the Goblin to me without curly feet.
  6. Most of the hate comes from the way Marvel oversaturated the X-men in the '90s, just pouring out new books and characters one after the other. When it comes to toys, a lot of us feel slighted when minor characters from those books get made into toys just because of the X-men association, and variations of them are made over and over before other characters get a chance. When people start demanding that "we need Jim Lee Cyclops"... well, no we don't. We've gotten plenty of Cyclopses already. We need Quasar! That said, Storm is one of the three characters in the SW poll that I want to see in the box. That's a very unique look, and there haven't been a lot of other Storm Minimates.
  7. Pass. If this had included Swordsman, or Songbird, or a new Bullseye, or even Radioactive Man in his sarong, then maybe. But I have no in any of those characters. Looks like I'll be saving some dough post-SDCC....
  8. Thanos. He comes with the Infinity Gauntlet. 'Nuff said.
  9. Oh man, me too. That alone kept me from voting for CM in the Secret Wars poll.
  10. Just wanted to pipe in and say 1.) I don't think I've ever started a thread anywhere that went 17 pages before! and 2.) I just mentioned in the Wolverine thread that I went to a TRU yesterday that previously had a ton of these in stock- at least two cases judging from the amount of Wonder Man/Union Jack two packs- and they have sold them almost all out. So (extrapolating my experience to be the case for the rest of the country!) these seem to be doing pretty well. Hopefully we'll get some new members here that just got their first Minimates at TRU recently!
  11. So yesterday I went to one of the two TRUs in short driving distance from me. Honestly, I wasn't expecting anything, because the last time I went into this TRU they had two pegs full of the previous release. Which was great, but it was the second shipment that they got in, so I wasn't expecting them to have moved through enough to justify putting out more 'mates. Well, not only had they sold most of the sets that they had, but it looks like they had gotten the Wolvie 'mates in and almost completely blown through them! They only had two packs left, and only 4-6 of the Marvel wave. While I was disappointed, as I'm only really looking for the variant packs for a couple customs (Shang-Chi and Talia-- guess which is which!), I was glad to see that the Minimates are apparently selling as well as they are. Oh well. Tomorrow I'm off to the other store!
  12. I think the powerhouse pieces are fine when they are kept simple, such as on the Defenders Hulk (the definitive Hulk 'mate, IMHO). It's when they start trying to sculpt in muscles and shoulders that they get bizarre. For Juggy, my main beef is that without the powerhouse piece, his helmet just looks gigantic on him. he looks like a little kid.
  13. No, you're correct. He didn't take human form until SW2. Therefore, all votes for him should be invalidated, or moved to the SW2 box set, which will include, I dunno, Boom-Boom and Circuit Breaker or something....
  14. Had they made extra room for these next to the other Minimates? Both the TRUs I frequent have a pretty healthy supply of those guys.
  15. This is the third time I've typed this in the last five minutes: WHERE THE !@#$ IS KANG!?!?!?!?! Not overly thilled with the options. I'd say there are three that I want: Molecule Man, Storm, and Captain Marvel. Spider-Woman is beautiful, but I already have one (and paid a lot for her). The Spidey is very cool but... no thanks. Ben Grimm? Meh. Beyonder? Meh. Doom? We just got a new Doom. So for me it's basically down to Molecule Man and Storm. I just can't stand Storm, but her punk look is pretty cool. But we never get enough villains, so... Molecule Man it is. Man, there are just so many cool characters that people really want in that series that they could make. Kang... the Wrecker... the Lizard...
  16. I think it's a pretty cool thing. I'd probably be a little more upset if I wanted these guys, but I think it's a nice little bonus and might get some people interested in getting the Ghostbusters 'mates. Also, I do think that we won't have too much of a problem getting these loose on eBay. I'm sure there will be plenty of buyers looking to recoup their cost by selling off the extras they don't want.
  17. I don't think Daredevil needs to be redone at all, since the Marvel Knights version is pretty much perfect. The one that jumps out to me is Juggernaut. With all the time they've spent trying to make the Hulk bigger, this is one puny guy that really needs some size. That big helmet makes him look like a little kid. A Powerhouse Rhino would also be nice.
  18. The Silver Fox pack is now showing as Out of Stock. That was quick! Also, if you just search "minimates" you'll see that they also have Terminator Mates listed. Or do you all know that? I haven't been to the movies board yet....
  19. I thought that too. I guess I'm the only one that really dislikes Penance and would be super, super disappointed to get a Minimate of him. Speedball forever!
  20. WTF?? Blasphemy. I won't buy it. That is the one line AA never crossed. It's comics accurate, actually. Iron Man was drawn with a nose for a time in the '70s. The story as I heard it was that there was a screwup in the mold for a toy at the time (Megos, maybe?) and the Iron Man mold was made with a nose. Rather then scrapping the expensive mold, they just started drawing a nose on him in the comics. Once that toy line ended, they dropped the nose. It's actually pretty cool to see AA add that!
  21. That is nice, Nervous. I think the buccaneer boots look just fine. How did you do the chest symbol? Now I'm torn between which cape to use. I'm still thinking about OMs, because I can use parts from him and the extra Aquaman for other things (I'm toying with a Braniac 5, and Aquaman's head and hair would be just right, after painting the head green).
  22. Which happens to be the only issue of Iron Fist that I need, but I've gotta pay "1st appearance of Sabretooth" prices rather then "issue of Iron Fist" prices....
  23. That's a nice decal, Tanuki. I might give one of these a shot; I've got an extra Red Tornado cape laying around that's been driving me nuts. As for the boots, you might want to try just painting them white and then using a Sharpie. I think that's why I might do.
