  1. I'm just happy to keep finding the SF 2 two packs in stores like Five Below. I found what is probably the last pack in the Delaware / Philly area today for $2.50. Don't care that I already have tons of these, it's still fun to find them in the wild. Too bad KB toys outlets are gone, they had them for a while too. As far as new ones go, make your own and let the line die...
  2. Feeling lucky! I ordered a couple and I'll keep yinz (GO STEELERS!!) updated on what happens with my order.
  3. My experience with DST cust. service was fine when I asked for Rocky's hair on two different occasions. The second time I asked for two and they sent me three. Sounds like the emails aren't getting to the person they need to.
  4. They also did a KISS Smiti set with a stage. It comes with all four members and the stage, which would be cool with the KISS minimates as well. I've considered buying it a few times, but I've never found it at a price I felt like paying at the time. Do a search on ebay for them and you'll see. They also come with drums, speakers and a bunch of other crap! I'd love to see pictures of the KISS minimates with this stage if anyone got it.
  5. I think it works. See if you agree...
  6. The clue, "The truth is out there" is a pretty big giveaway. I wonder who we'll get. These would be awesome!
  7. Wow! That last one was a mouthful. I appreciate all the suggestions guys, really. My problem is that I recently moved from Virginia to Pennsylvania. My wife and I are both teachers and without telling my life history, I taught in VA for 8 years before taking a 4 year break to stay at home and raise my daughter. During this time I sold stuff on ebay and tutored privately in the evenings. Things were great. However, the move up to PA also included a drastic salary decrease for both my wife and I even with her 10+ years experience and my eight years. I'm not totally done with teaching yet, I'm still subbing and usually enjoying it. I'm still looking for a full time gig this year or next, I'm just on the lookout for something different that I will like, and even love, to do every day. The suggestions so far have been great and are giving me good food for thought. It's funny, someone suggested the MRI thing and I have been thinking of going back to learn how to be an X-Ray tech, but of course that takes money which we don't have right now. Keep the ideas flowing. This is helpful.
  8. I'm a high school / middle school math teacher, currently unemployed and only subbing, looking for something else to do with my life. I'm pretty good with the numbers (duh), I can type fairly well, I'm 36 and I'm getting burnt out on teaching. Anybody out there have any ideas of what else I could do? I think I'm qualified to do lots of different jobs that interest me, but so far I've had no takers when applying. Not sure if it's lack of experience in those fields or what... Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
  9. Check out this way earlier Marvel Minimates reference from back in Ultimate FF # 25. Found this months ago and I have it posted with my other minimate scans on my photobucket account. There are some cool old pictures from Toyfare and Wizard.
  10. That's just for Captain America Here's one that's missing Iron Man's mask http://cgi.ebay.com/Marvel-CIVIL-WAR-Minim...1QQcmdZViewItem ..... Check out the sellers ,time's must be hard! Are they really in Hawaii? That would explain the crazy shipping prices they charge.
  11. Yeah, you all know when you see these in TRU or Target or wherever, you'll grab them. I know I will! I think they were going for a Kirby-style face on Red Skull, the way he's always screaming with that huge gaping mouth on Kirby Cap covers. I like it. A quick trip to a bead store / craft store / or my daughter's box-o-beads should provide a suitable scale cosmic cube if they don't put one in with him. I would like to see a better costume on the Red Skull though, maybe a different color, this is too bright. Too bad Magneto's ice cream has melted... Can't wait for these!
  12. And in the breaking news department.... Did you know that according to the new Toyfare the Toys R Us exclusive Iron Man pack will be available in Spring 2009? Keep your eyes open... Shouldn't a "toy magazine" have better information? Granted this probably went to press around the time the sets were released, I just found it humorous. In other news, I saw the TRU sets today on the side of an endcap next to the GI Joe figures. One peg with sticker and only one set left. It's great that people are buying these. This was in Delaware. So if you don't find them with the Marvel toys, keep looking around and ask someone!
  13. The way Suncoast and FYE stores operate is crazy. Some stores sell minimates and some don't. Some discount them and some are still selling them for $9.99 like the DC packs I've seen recently at a Suncoast. They also have 24 4 packs and exclusives for 'regular' retail. If you ask your LCS, they may still be able to order most waves of DC minimates. A store I went to in Newark, DE had nothing for a long time and when I went there last week they had pegs upon pegs of almost every wave through the last DC wave. It might be worth asking.
  14. Wow. It sounds like quality control at the factory is a little lacking with these sets! We've been hearing about lots of goofs lately. Although an extra faceplate would be a cool mistake to have.
  15. I had a similar problem with my MkII and MkIII armors. I found that if I just put the helmet on, the face plate would pop off. However, if I held the face plate with my thumb while putting the helmet on, the face plate is stuck almost permanently. I don't know if this would be the case with your 'custom' helmet, but it is worth a try to not have to keep retooling the helmet. Six The pegs on the faceplate are too long and they get pushed out from the minimate head. If the face plate is stuck, that's because the pegs have been bent and are "locked" onto the helmet in the holes by forcing it on the head. Mine are the same way with the Stealth and Mark whatever... I am considering filing or trimming the pegs on the faceplate to make them fit better.
  16. I was a $100 to $200 a week comic book addict at my LCS and that was with a big discount. Now I pretty much just read stuff in trades and buy recent issues at comic shows locally for a buck. If I can't find them, oh well. My money is reserved for minimates these days!!
  17. Nothing in northern VA or eastern PA as of today. Anybody out here seen anything?
  18. Remember, the stuff comes in via the west coast, so it may take a few days / weeks(?) for them to arrive all the way on the east coast. Who knows when they actually arrived and with all the craziness of black Friday, they may be sitting on a truck or buried in the stockrooms right now. I guess it all depends on how on-the-ball your local TRU is at getting new stock out. I'm sure once the computer system sees how fast these are selling, there will be more ordered and plenty around through the holiday season. Remember how long we were able to get the New Avengers and Astonishing box sets after initially being tough to find. They sat around forever and even got clearanced.
  19. KB Toys sell them too for about $12 or $13. Try to go now while they are having crazy deals and sales. I think they are still doing buy 2 get 1 free.
  20. Totally agree with this! The whole reason I first got into minimates was the simplicity. I loved Lego figures as a kid and minimates had just enough articulation and variety at the beginning. I like the new stuff too, but I think I would prefer going back to the original basic sculpt.
  21. Now this is a post with information that is actually helpful without being sarcastic and snide. I don't think some of you are reading very carefully, or you're "retarded" as TBT says... I've never said, "I am doing this," or "I am contacting DST about this." I simply put it out there and I got some great input that has been helpful and some posts that haven't been very helpful. No hard feelings to anyone on my part. Some of us just need to chill out. I'd have to come check it out first... Another helpful piece of info. Thank you Shane!
  22. For the record, when I said "petition DST" I didn't mean literally present them with a document and signatures. I just wanted to bring it up here to determine interest. And again, I never intended to ask them anything on behalf of the multiverse or myself. I wasn't going to contact them at all. Why all the negativity? Ok, it's been brought up before, so what. Where is the harm in talking about it? I read the SF posts and I get the logistics involved. I wish I had the money myself to fully fund something like this but I don't. But I would definitely contribute some cash to make it happen! I'm just saying it's possible if enough people got involved. So I figured why not throw it at the wall and see what sticks?
  23. I wasn't planning on contacting DST with this. Just an idea to throw out there to the members and see what people would think. Is it so outrageous to think that it might be possible, though? Granted, I haven't built the relationship with them like Shane and other members here, but if they (DST) say that with enough money they will do a store exclusive, why not for us? I also understand the economics and hassle of getting it done. I get that people might say they'll contribute and never do it, believe me, I've been in that situation of being left high and dry before and I wouldn't want myself or any other members here getting stuck. Again, I don't know what has been proposed to DST by Shane or any other staff member here. If this has been discussed with DST and shot down already that's fine and I understand. It's still interesting to see what others might want out of a blank bag assortment.
  24. How about petitioning DST to make a bag of blanks? I would love various colors and they wouldn't even have to be the clear kind like the SDCC promos. Although a plain, clear, uncolored minimate would rock! I know it would be easy for them to do, since they did it for FCBD. A bag of 5 or ten randomly colored minimates would satisfy lots of us. I'd even be willing to kick in some cash with the rest of the multiverse to make it happen. I know it's expensive to get exclusives made, but if we all chipped in it wouldn't be so bad. There would be minimal packaging costs, no tampos to deal with, no accessories whatsoever. Are there 300 members here? 200? Let's say we got 150 people to chip in, at $100 per person that's $15000 right there. I would donate $100 to get these made and I'd even then buy a couple bags. I'm sure something could be worked out where we could set up a cafepress store or paypal account to collect money from members for pre-orders too. I'd even take on the responsibility if need be. We could work out how many would be either given to the members who funded it, or at what discounted price they could buy them. Then the rest could be sold to members and anyone else. Hell, put a few bags on ebay for non-members to bid on too. Has this been discussed before? Not a character exclusive but the blanks idea... What does everyone / anyone else think? Is this way off? Am I insane? Teaching math to middle and high school kids is starting to mess with my mind!! I know money is tight these days as well, but I'm still throwing this out there.
  25. Out of curiosity, what is your LCS charging for them? Most comic shops I've been to really have to mark them up to make any kind of profit. In my experience it's way cheaper to find them at retail or wait for one of the coupons like they had recently on hasbrotoyshop.com.
