Q&A with Nelson Asencio!!

Recommended Posts

Let's start this up again :D So we're going to do a little Q&A with Nelson Asencio and learn a little bit of history about minimates.

Nelson was formerly Art Asylum's Senior Art Director for eight years! He was part of the original core group up until September 2005 and oversaw all creative from 2-d, sculpts, paintmasters and also worked with the graphic department etc. He was the lead designer on all Batman products (C3, Batman Begins). He also worked in comics many years ago, you may remember some of his work on Shi comcis. He now runs his own company called Storybox Ink.

Check out more of his artwork on his MySpace page.

So let's get those questions together, again we'll stick to 3 max per person to give everyone a chance (we need more, so you can ask more). Nothing disrespectfull or the like; the staff reserves the right to remove questions as they see fit. Other than that it's wide open.

Need some ideas:

* Rock, Kiss, Bruce Lee, CTHD, Trek, Marvel, LOTR, C3, Street Fighter Minimates

* Marvel Statues & Busts

* Eminem, CTHD figures

* Shi Comics

Thanks Nelson for answering our questions.

How is it working for AA?

Who had the idea to change minimates from a 3" body to a 2"?

While working on a line of minimates, can you tell us the involvement of what DST and AA do? Specifically what does each one do independently as part of design?

Out of you favorite minimate designs, which one was your favorite?

What new and interesting project are you working on?

Edited with more questions.
