Kostisfire Posted September 29, 2012 Share Posted September 29, 2012 I just wanted to say thank you to the admins,the mods and the regular members who keep this board a fun place to discuss minimates,movies,videogames and everything in general.The past week i started playing a game on flickr called gotham city war.Anyway the game was turn based.You choose a villain and move from territory to territory conquering it and gathering points.Taking a territory gave you 5 points.If somebody caught up to you you had 3 choices:flee,die,or become his henchman.Only mods could be heroes and they were 3 or 4.The liberated a territory once in a while.To tell the long stoy short some people told me that i should do a dc universe war group (i dropped the idea at a pic,they liked and pmed me).I did it and kept the same basic formula but with some gameplay differences.The maps were 3 (metropolis,gotham,keystone) heroes were playable by regular members,they had a different gameplay style and each war had 2 rounds,the second being a deathmatch in apokolis.It was running about 2 or 3 days (we didn't even have mods) when i get a message from a gcw admin telling me that he will ban me from flickr because i stole his ideas.Moments after that he posts it and a flame war begins.EVERYONE and i mean EVERYONE (even the people who i had made the group with) side with them and i was left alone to disscuss it with 10 and something people.Their main problem was that because we used a strength system with points and it was set in the dc universe i had copied their hard work.The accussed me of being a cheater,an idiot (something they deny) and a crybaby.I kept bringing up points and explaining to them that because the game is turn based it doesn't mean that it is a copy.Their other problem was the use of an action log so i could keep track of the actions.Actually i had a feeling this would happen so i had added way more things in my game but the other admin said that it was tooooooo complicated.In the end he said that he supposedly told me that the rules were simillar (he didn't) and he kept on licking the admins of gcw.If you want to see the whole conversation here's the link:<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/baricade/8035736529/">adventure</a>.Anyway you might be wondering why i am posting this here.Well for once i want to get it off my chest and secondly because i believe that no one here would insult someone like that.When i first came here i was too excited and started making useless threads.The mods and the members tried to help me.They never threatened me with banishment.Instead of talking to me personally he made a huge deal out of it.You can't just go around threatining people.He also believes he is the "ruler of gotham".Tell me your thoughts on this incident and once again i want to thank you for keeping this board fun and awesome!<img class="bbc_emoticon" alt="" src="http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/public/style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif"> Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bravo. Thank you very much! I'm having my proficiency (the cembridge version,i've taken the michigan one) exams this November and I want to get a high pass so this compliment makes me really happy! And man are they a pain in the a** to learn. Take the Greek language (which is already hard) and multiply it by 10. Hear is the ancient Greek word for the verb solve: lyo and in present perfect it's: lelyka,lelykas,lelyke,lelykamen,lelykete,lelykasin. And that's the esiest verb. What do you have to say about that flame war though? The funny part is that even the people who were in my group sided with them. And all this happened because we had a similar core gameplay. Funny thing is he didn't even touch the other groups which were 100% copies. Also I go to a small English school which is in my neighborhood and not in a big English teaching company. My teacher's primary launguage is English so I learn more about grammar and how to pronounce the words. He wanted to become a mod but when we asked him to make a small map (he volunteered) he got all mad. Come to think of it almost all of the guys commenting there wanted to be mods and admins in my group. They are a bunch of kids with no personality. He does speak it well (for a cheater, idiot crybaby) that should have been banished when he first started posting (yes, I'm being sarcastic here). I have always felt like this board is very unique in the general respect shown to most people. We seem to be a unification of different types of people from all over the world and that's not something you find most places. And I'd say that anytime there's ill-will towards anyone we're usually unified in that also and it's usually because we all agree someone is a doing something wrong. Someone is worried about losing the war,the co creator of the group keeps blaming me (even if I showed him the rules 3 or 4 times and he agreed) and billbo freaking full wants to punch someone! They think they own Gotham. Literally the write it in the first page I think. I have no words. And the worst is that they don't have a counter attack. Their response is always this: you punk kid,you stole my rules (because I'm totally the guy who owns turn based gameplay) i'm gonna ban you from Flickr! This place is fantastic. There is nowhere else on the Internet I would feel comfortable enough to be my weird self, let alone start a thing like Translucent Tuesday Fight Club. And actually, if it weren't for the great community here and the support of everyone, TTFC probably wouldn't have made it more than two weeks. So I mirror Kositis's sentiments. Thank you MMMV.
