  1. This is some fun news. Indiana Jones 'mates would be the bees knees. A Chinatown boxset would be cool. A Ferris Bueller's Day Off set would be awesome as well. Hopefully DST will start dropping some hints about any upcoming lines.
  2. I think it would be interesting for Mattel to do this just from the mass-market perspective, but otherwise I don't see the point of getting Mattel involved. DCD was able to produce minimates. I would much prefer for DST to simply try to somehow get that license from DCD and make the toys themselves (if that is even a possibility- it very well may not be). I think it would work better than getting Mattel, who already has PLENTY of DC product in mulitple scales and formats, to outsource to a company with whom they don't have (or need) a relationship all to add yet another scale and format that would potentially compete with the upcoming heroes-style mini-line. I just don't see it happening. A tweak in the DCD-DST relationship might work a little better.
  3. Ult Cap. (The entire wave looks great- here's hoping some more waves down the line finish off the team.) ...but if BS stuff gets shown, I reserve the right to change my mind.
  4. Ah, I love it when DST displays multiple lines together like that. It really shows off why minimates are so cool. I love it. It's just kind of sad that so far the only BSG stuff on display is in the mix, not individually, and that it is only classic stuff. I guess we still have a few days. Thanks for the links, Ivan.
  5. I think it is either the T-800 or a SWAT guy from the raid on the Cyberdyne building. But I could be totally wrong.
  6. So... with all of the cool pictures from Toyfair coming in, I can't help but notice a distinct lack of BSG 'mates so far. I realize TF hasn't really started yet, but wouldn't it be grand?
  7. Ooh-la-la. These are fantastic. FANTASTIC. Except a 2-inch Staypuft isn't nearly big enough. This is a great year for minimates so far.
  8. These look pretty cool. I like the exploded head T-1000, which aside from the head is exactly the same as hook-hand, so I'm guessing it's a single figure and not a variant. Still, there is a lot of T-1000.
  9. I just assumed the soldier was a shield agent/soldier to go along with Capt America and variant, but it does look like he might have some sideburns under that helmet. These all look fantastic. I'm particularly excited about the Ultimates, but all of these waves look great. I'm so excited, I might have to go out and buy some mates today.
  10. Edward James Olmos made a comment a while back about Bodie being the second latino in space. I've always thought that was funny. And like you said, we wouldn't to piss off papi chulo.
  11. You think Hotdog and Racetrack are more compelling than Romo Lampkin? There has been more character development for Romo in one episode than Hotdog and Racetrack have had combined over the course of the entire series. Here is Romo's hit list: Not to mention I met him at NYCC last weekend and he's a hell of a nice guy. Hotdog and Racetrack are just scenery compared to Lampkin. I apoligize for the rant. I definitely think Romo is a great character and deserving of a mate, but, c'mon, Hotdog is great too. He's been there from pretty early on, he's the second Hispanic in space, and . He may be background, but so is Galactica itself. He's one of the few characters I DON'T want to develop. He's young and a soldier: he's not supposed to develop.
  12. It's a shame Memphis so completely blows. (except for our killer college basketball) I would love to have an Urban Outfitters nearby.
  13. Hehe, i almost forgot to mention. While at the con, i just so happened to come across these in person. The fist thing i thought of doing was checking for a torso for T-1000. I literally got on my knees and looked up; there IS a block underneath the splatter effect!! Hopefully this means that DST just plans to repaont the metallic-fluid Cop version the appropriate color and ionclude it; it be a shame to miss out on that. Glad there's a block underneath anyway, though. From the newest AA blog: "T-1000’s specialized pieces required slightly more tweaking, but the initial look was captured early on. Certain specialized head pieces needed to hold the Minimate head shape, but still look like the source material. The piece that was probably the most fun to create was the Final Battle T-1000. With only one clear camera view of T-1000 in this form to work from, it required a bit of thinking and planning. We also wanted to be sure the standard head and hands could still be a part of the piece, as they remain intact in the film." The first paragraph makes it sound like we may be getting a pretty cool T-1000 not in splatter mode. Specialized head pieces?
  14. Maybe it was a reference to carpaccio, a dish of thinly sliced raw beef and mustard sauce usually served as an appetizer. Yum? I don't think anyone needs to ever explain the lack of that. Wasn't the 'casual pilot' look one of the very first items shown waaaaaay back when? It's a very cool look on a minimate.
  15. I don't know about these having a planned cancellation. I think there was an AA blog post that mentioned that they didn't know who the final cylon was. But I could be misremembering. And it seems weird to solicit something you have no plan of releasing. But maybe that is what the upcoming telefilm "The Plan" is really all about. At any rate, I look forward to Toy Fair and any possible reconfigurations of the line up. As long as I eventually get the rest of the skin-jobs, the final five, and D'anna, I will be happy.
  16. I have no expectation that we will see anything other than a few 'mates. Danny pointed out that the chances of this happening is right around zero, and I think everyone is pretty comfortable with that. This is just fun dreaming. DST hasn't said we should expect anything. BSG, on the other hand, still has some pretty crucial characters that have been shown and, right now at least, have a pretty slim chance of getting released. That burns.
  17. A big multi-level Ghostbuster HQ, similar to the Batcave, with plenty of room for the Ecto-1 (Sold Separately) to park on the bottom level. yeah.
  18. I completely agree with Gledzee. I think the concept worked, but I don't think it was well executed. The over-abundance of those dumb little miniflyers killed it. Some larger sets look cool, but the miniflyers not so much. For DC miniflyers didn't make sense. Now, BSG, on the other hand, could really benefit from mini-Vipers, Raptors, and Raiders. Maybe a CIC or flight-bay set too. But C3 sets only work where they make sense. So what makes sense? Viper? Yes. Batwing? Yes. ST Shuttlecraft? Yes. Delorian? Yes. Ecto-1? Yes. Riddler's magical jet with big weird balls on the wings? No. I say bring on more C3 vehicles and environments, but only if they make sense.
  19. Ok, so my initial thought was only so-so on this line. But I mentioned it to my wife the other night. She usually just says, "Oh, that will be fun for you" when I tell her about upcoming minimates. To this, her response was laughter followed immediately by an enthusiastic "Awesome. I would totally buy one of whatzerfuck [Connie] after she gets slapped around!" So I think this line may have much more appeal than I thought it would... especially if it means a "battle-damaged" Talia Shire.
  20. Yeah, I really don't know about this. Star Trek in movie year gets the axe, but The Godfather is a go? It seems odd. But I guess it will have cross-over appeal. The casual buyer might see a Godfather set and go for it. And it would be nice to have some mob-boss punching bags for Batman and Punisher. But even best case scenario, I don't see this being a long term minimate line.
  21. "If there's something strange, and it's got four hooves, who ya gonna call..."
  22. Godfather mates? That seems like a weird choice.
  23. I don't know about whipped cream, but I would like an edible Stay-Puft maximate made out of real marshmellows. It beats the hell out of eating Madonna.
  24. Huh. That's weird. I'll check mine when I get home from work, but I am pretty sure it has solid red feet. I don't think I've ever seen/noticed the two-tone foot.
