  1. Ok so it's a popular license then? Probably fairly old. Hmmm.... I .... Have no idea!
  2. Hey Zach, Any chance of DST bring the bags of display stands to SDCC this year?
  3. Yeah, based on the fact that Zach didn't outright deny TNBC while denying Hellboy, I think it's a pretty good chance that it's TNBC. If not, then I think it would be Mortal Kombat.
  4. I didn't particularly care much for the LEGO delorean so I left it in the box. It's too...blocky for my taste. I love the Minimate versions though! With that said, I like the look of Marty in there.
  5. I can't wait to here what's coming. This will be my first year attending, and I am so excited to be going!
  6. I would buy the "you-know-what" out of Mortal Kombat 'Mates! It actually makes sense as a line given that there is a new game coming out and the first figure will be a Halloween release.
  7. Hey Zach, Any plans of having cases of these at SDCC?
  8. Wow, that Bobby Drake looks amazing! I didn't really care what you look ended up being the final product, but this definitely looks better than the earlier design. The black just makes him stand out more and fit in with the team. Thanks as always for the update Zach. I appreciate all the time you spent here and keeping us in the loop.
  9. See, it's just a glowing translucent Michelangalo. That's not so bad.
  10. Ohhh! I'd love a Luke's Roy Store exclusive figure. It's the best place for all your Roy needs!
  11. Let's not forget that these are San Diego Comic-Con Convention Exclusives. I think that over the past years, DST has done a great job pumping out exclusives for this Con that were all around great sets. You had obscure teams and figures for collectors like us, and familiar faces for the general public. The sets (mostly) satisfied all needs/wants. But I think a variety of factors have led to the sets we are getting this year. 1. The lack of other distributors: In past years, other retailers have had sets exclusive to their booth (AFX, TRU, etc.), This year, it is only DST, and that limits the market potential. 2. A more mainstream Con: As mentioned above, Comic-Con is no longer a small comic show. There is a much wider audience of more casual "Fans" and "Geeks". 3. Playing to these masses: With that being said, DST probably had to think very carefully about these sets. The DOFP set is smart from a business sense. No one knew how the film would turn out, and given the history of the franchise this film could very easily have been a disaster. DST probably saw this and did not want to gamble on a movie-based potential shelf warmers. On the flip side, almost any "Comic Fan" knows the DOFP cover and are somewhat familiar with the story. Make a comic set based on the story that the movie is adapted from was a Win-Win for DST. If the movie bombed, you'd still have 'Mates based on a fun comic. If the movie is a hit (Which it is) then you have a box set that will probably sell well to the average "Comic Fan" that saw the film and knows the comic. 4. Reused and Recycled: Ok, this one is tough. Now before you string me up by my feet for defending DST's decisions here, hear me out. I've said my piece on the DOFP boxed set: I like the set because I don't have three out of the four characters in those versions, and I do understand the frustration with the coat on Wolverine. But in order to truly understand why I am ok with this and TWD B&W set, take a look at past SDCC exclusives from OTHER companies. A good lot of the exclusives are repainted versions of others figures, and in some cases are exactly the same but in different packaging. I think we've been spoiled by DST with cool, obscure figures in the past. This year, DST chose to join the crowd with some parts reuse in DOFP and variations in TWD set. With all that being said, I am still really looking forward to these and all future 'Mates! -CBMM1
  12. While I understand those that are disappointed by both of these, I for one love them! The DOFP set is a no brainer for me because I never got a Kitty, DOFP Wolverine, or comic Mstique (and who doesn't love Sentinels). I think the 'Mates are beautifully executed, and come with great extra parts. I do agree that the jacket should be shorter, but you all must understand that DST IS a company. They have to make their money somewhere, and parts reuse is the easiest. I have to agree with Zach that the the jacket makes this Wolverine a bit more dynamic, though I wouldn't be opposed to getting a comic-accurate version down the line. TWD set is EXACTLY what I was hoping for! Given the fact that I just recently got into the line, it would be very hard/expensive to find a Shane and Glenn figure. This way, I get the figures, and those that have the colored ones don't lose value on those. It's a win-win. Although new figures would be nice, I again understand the predicament. I just found out that I may be able to make the trip to SDCC this year, so I am hoping to be able to pick these up IN PERSON!
  13. It really depends if there still in package or loose.
  14. I too am curious about the release of these. I'll be placing an order through Luke once we get close to an official release date.
  15. I just got mine in the mail! It is so great that DST and everyone that had a hand in this made something special for our small community. I am so honored to be a part of this awesome board and to be able to talk with all you fellow collectors.
  16. Can't wait for Alien(s) Minimates!!!

  17. By webbing half way down the face, I meant that the upper half of the webbing was on the lower half of the head. The top half had no printing. I'd never seen anything like it before. In fact I didn't even think it was possible.
  18. I was honestly so excite to see Mates at TRU again, I forgot. I might be making another stop there in a couple of days. If they are still there, I'll snap some.
  19. That's nothing compared to the ones that I saw at my TRU. I luckily found a full set with almost perfect printing, but EVERY other set had terrible alignment issues. On some of them, the webbing was halfway down the face while others had tilted eyes. The webbing behind the white wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though.
  20. I think I'll stick with Minimates on this one. I personally think that those LEGO figures look kinda crummy.
  21. I'm going to go with Predator. Marvel Monsters seems unlikely as a Con-exclusive and TWD Zombies is something to "question the need for."
  22. Well I guess I'm not going this year. There are no badge resales this year. Oh well maybe next year. I honestly just want to go so that I can see the DST booth, meet Zach, and attend the Minimate panel.
