  1. I wonder if they crammed so many members in as a way to claim ownership of them for future movies and so to prevent someone like Sunspot appearing in a future Avengers movie.
  2. I'm okay with the maskless look as I can't really imagine a man transposed 60 years in the future has much need for a conventional secret identity where he needs to hide his face.
  3. If only this were tru(e).
  4. I'm probably not a typical collector. The only toys I buy are minimates. Part of the reason I like them so much is that they are cheap. I don't overspend. Also, my boys will inherit the entire collection as soon as they are old enough to play with them.
  5. I've seen wishlists and most wanted threads, but couldn't find a specific thread on alternate looks for character designs. Didn't mean to replicate a thread.
  6. A general thread to discuss alternate looks for characters that you want to see as Minimates. My first nomination: Storm, Goddess of Thunder.
  7. I'm very curious to see updates based on either this TRU set versus the Marvel TRU 16 set. I haven't seen either at any TRU I've checked. Wonder if it's the same bottle neck causing both sets to be delayed.
  8. Mine too. They were on clearance just this past spring. If only things like Heralds of Galactus, Mr Negative/Fantomex, Cap TTA got released from the stockroom archives.
  9. I noticed my store did the same thing except for the AVX box set with the Scarlet Witch. Those were the only mates in the comic/marvel aisle. No Wave 16. No Tomb Raider. Looks like they got a huge shipment of Street Fighter v. Tekken though.
  10. The dangers of posting from a cellphone at on my lunch break. Not trying to start an argument on put down this set . Just trying to make a simple point. It seems to me that the sets that don't sell well are either obscure characters, obscure costumes of popular characters or obscure custumes of obscure characters. Age of X and Boomer/Rictor are examples of sets that I suspect didn't sell very well. DST has produced many examples of figures that are built to allow for multiple looks of the same character out of the box. There are some like Space Wolverine and Transforming Thing that accomplish two looks of the same character by having abulked up shell in one design that sits on top of a slimmer basic figure of the same character in a separate design. Then there army figures like the Nova corps where on or two separate pieces allow for simple customizations. My suggestion is that this design objective be used when producing figures where either the character or the costume design is onscure. This would hopefully broaden the appeal and in crease sales. Of course this might prevent them from selling. A second figure of that second alternate look in the future but it also hedges against the only version of a much wanted character being in an obscure look.
  11. My thought is that when releasing figures for fairly secondary type characters in costume designs that are based on a very specific era I would hope that DST could allow for simple customization to a more generically classic costume design through accessories and removing of pieces. Boomers head came with sunglasses permanently attached. Will domino's helmet be permanent? Will there be an alternate head that fully reveals her face and the black spot over her eye? I know we haven't seen the designs yet, but I feel that there may be some room for improvement from a design perspective. Not to get off track but consider the forthcoming Falcon figure. I imagine that it would be kind of simple to include parts to allow the customer to convert that figure into the more classic design. Maybe they will release a separate version of the more classic design but what if they don't? It seems like there is a constant push and pull from members of this board wanting new versus classic designs. I would suggest that for secondary characters DST could actively try to design one figure that meets the wishes for both groups of buyers by allowing for part swaps and figure within a figure design. I offer this not as criticism of this set but more as feedback on possible ways to improve the product line to please more fans.
  12. If the images below really are the Domino and Cannonball we are getting, I think it would be easy to hide a simple figure underneath all the shoulder pads and headgear.
  13. I just hate the costumes and I know we haven't seen control art yet. But, if you look at the Boomer/Rictor 2 pack, I think that set would have sold so much better if something like this were hidden under this: much the same way transformation Thing has jump suit Ben Grimm hidden underneath. I especially would want this for Domino. I really hope we don't just get one head piece with that purple helmet thing and no way to remove the helmet.
  14. I mostly just don't like the designs (not counting Cable). I hate those padded helmet things and the puffy shoulder pads. Would be much more excited if these figures were like transformation thing with less garrish and simpler figures underneath all the padding.
  15. I would appreciate it if Domino could have her armor and whatever removed and still work as a regular figure of her more classic look.
  16. If you pull the rings do those shoulder pads inflate into life rafts?
  17. Miles Morales is awesome. Flat. Out. Awesome. I am also digging the versions of cloak and dagger.
  18. We need a Swiss Miss minimate!
  19. He'll be so sad when no friends show up.
  20. Went into my not so close TRU hoping for the Wolvie/Reaper or Tomb Raider. Found neither but saw the AVX four pack for $5.99. Was so happy. Was going to grab a bunch. But then no. They scanned at $14.99. The sets were on the wrong stand. The sticker said AVN asst or something similar. Extra disappointed.
  21. If it makes anyone feel better, I just got a 20% coupon.
  22. It always bugs me when toy collectors think that we create toys in a vacuum. We invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in this stuff -- we need data. eBay sales aren't equal to wholesale, and we have to look at what products retailers have ordered in the past to decide what to make in the future. Obviously, they are not the exact same thing, but in many retailers' minds, I'm sure they are. Here, maybe not, but in the world, there are more people seeing these movies than have ever read a Marvel comic book. And in the movies, I think both Hydra and the Frost Giants (and the IM2 drones) were a pretty big deal. I think keeping up sales is the goal of every toy company. And nobody is arguing that YOU and :many of the people here would buy more army builders if they were singles, the question is: How many are you? And are background comic book characters the best group of characters to be offered this way? I've suggested as many as four factions in a dump case, but doing an X vs. X theme is a pretty cool idea. I still think we'll need to see a media tie-in that makes sense for it to ever happen. All great ideas! I'd love for us to do more transformation figures, and I think the Nick Fury Jr. figure is along that theme, as well. Glad you like Series 54's setup, although I would think Strucker and Viper would be examples of characters you only need one of. Do you plan to modify your extras into other characters, or other HYDRA officers? Because if we did that, DST would stop making them? My point exactly! Obviously, people who want toys generally want toys NOW, but if there wasn't at least the possibility of a toy getting more expensive over time, I think you'd see fewer impulse purchases. I can't count the number of times I've bought something because I thought I'd never see it for retail price again. Of course, I was wrong a lot. Not everybody buys out of a sense of obligation or goodwill. Not everybody can afford to. If someone can get a toy cheaper somewhere else, or by waiting a little, they will (if they have the patience). You know how in the most recent wolverine and deadpool sets the promo photos show five figures where ironpool and space wolvie have simple figures underneath their bulked up shells? I wish Strucker and Viper had simple Hydra cannon fodder foot soldiers underneath. That would entice this particular subset of buyers to buy multiple copies of the two packs. As to the movie vs. comic army figures - I think the movie based figures may have higher initial interest when the movie is fresh but also a shorter shelf life. They could be considered timely. The comics versions however could be considered timeless. Maybe they wouldn't have the initial sales volume but they also wouldn't sit on the shelves for very long. I personally would be inclined to grab an extra set just because they were there when I was shopping for the newest wave.
  23. Just want to say that I greatly appreciate that DST seems to be building the two packs with an eye towards army building. I am so much happier getting a SHIELD agent with a figure like Nick Fury Jr. that can be converted to Agent Rogers (especially since it includes his face and transparent shield) and with Maria Hill that can be easily customized to a generic female SHIELD agent or a different character. This is such a big improvement over past waves where SHIELD agents were partnered with Aunt May and J. Jonah Jameson figures. Not knocking those figures, but this is so much better. I can easily see myself buying two copies of each two-pack without feeling like I'm being forced into buying figures I don't want. If this is the plan for future army figures (which it appears to be based on the Captain America wave with the Hydra soldiers), I will be very happy. Maybe a suggestion would be to partner a soldier with a transformation figure. Something like partnering an AIM beekeeper with an ABomb figure that easily converts into a Rick Jones and a Red She Hulk that converts into Betty or something. Just throwing those out off the top of my head. Also, maybe stack the army figures with lots of accessories (similar to Deadpool) so that you can arm the soldiers with different devices. One with a flame thrower, one with a machine gun, etc.
  24. Does Father Mathias have one sculpted/gloved hand and one painted hand?
