  1. Now that you mention it, the mind of BHM can be a frightening thing. . .but I say, let the depravity commence! Please tell us all the lurid details, oh pimp of the plastic. I'm afraid your obvious lust for depravity will not be sated by my little contest. The contest will merely consist of a few Trivia-type questions with Marvel Minimates , The Avengers & Marvel Comics as the theme. The questions will be hard enough to make you think without being simple enough to insult your intelligence. There will also be a question that is quite difficult & one question you couldn't possibly know unless you were me The idea is to give everybody a chance of winning & the member who in my opinion (& only my opinion)* gets the most answers correct wins. I will be ruthlessly fair in my adjudication but be aware that extra marks will be awarded for spelling & humour Sorry Timbo this will obviously eliminate you *I realise that sounds egotistical ,sorry ,but this is just a bit of fun & I don't want anybody 'kicking off' if they lose. Tune in tomorrow , thankyou, bhm.
  2. It's apparently Minimates Week & I decided that I'd run a little contest of my own....Avengers #1 Contest. This coming week (we hope) brings us The Avengers #1 Box Set. This highly anticipated box-set will ,obviously, be much sought-after & includes Iron-Man,Ant-Man/Giant-Man,The Hulk & The Wasp. It doesn't include however the Mighty Thor for some 'God knows' reason It also doesn't include Captain America who as all purists know was being 'kept on ice' until 'The Mighty Thaw' ...... & Loki was the villain the Avengers had to battle first ....sadly he too is not included. First Prize in my competition will be 'Avengers' Wave 16 which includes Thor,Loki,Quicksilver,She-Hulk,Wonder Man & The Scarlet Witch which will be 'case-fresh' in their original packaging . First Prize will also include a 'freshly de-frosted ' Captain America & Absorbing Man ,Wave 5 ,2 pack. This version of Captain America is often considered 'the members' favourite' & again is minty fresh in its original packaging. Depending on the interest (or not!) in the contest further prizes may be offered with the First Prize being upgraded with an addition of Bearded Thor. There are few rules to this competition except my decision is final, all comments to be made only in the thread & I don't want PMs regarding it . I have no affiliation with any organisation & this competition is solely my idea & my responsibilty. I am not offering Avengers #1 Box-Set as a prize or anything else for sale. I will update this thread within 24 hours with the details of how to win if sufficient interest has been generated. All the best, buttheadsmate.
  3. Read the contest rules here. There's an email address listed there to send your guess to, as well as instructions of how to format your guess. You could post your guess here if you want, but all you'd accomplish is helping everyone else with their guesses. Thanks boyd that was my green light Weapon X Wave ,Deadpool variant.
  4. I genuinely applaud your motives but I feel that I have to bring to your attention that, statistically, people carrying blades of any description are more likely to be the victim of a stabbing ,often by their own weapon edit: Those that live by the sword inevitably die by the sword.
  5. What with Interwebz & Firefox (?) ,Fwoosh (?) ,Centalised Text & the need to explain the 'Minimates Trade it Forward' concept ......I had to check the date wasn't April 1st. & whether my slippers were in the fridge still!
  6. Update: 24 hours later they have reduced the price but not to it's previous low!
  7. My bet is you won't get a Bobble-head....at least not another one (buttheadsmate cowers behind sofa awaiting TBT's response.)
  8. In the last few days we've had a Cornerstorecomics & BigBadToyStore thread so I thought I'd air my views about AFX here in an AFX thread. Check out their latest Marvel Minimates offerings http://www.actionfigurexpress.com/mami.html Bobble-heads for free ?? Note the new price hike!
  9. I started collecting Minimates the day I bought Santa Spidey about 2 years ago. Yesterday I secured the purchase of the ADV Films logoed blank which officially makes it 'my all-time hardest Minimate to find'. This haul was sweeter than my recent acquisitions of Gold or Silver Spideys which basically involved 'paying way too much for them' . It was sweet because I was tipped off about an ebay auction by 'He that sees all whilst all others merely look' & if Galactus wanted a new herald to replace ol' Norrin, then this guy would be the man....The Slippery Surfer . It doesn't stop there either. The auction was in the US & bidders were 'US only' so I had to get the sellers permission to bid. I asked politely ,he agreed & I placed my initial bid days ago only to find out ,with hours to go, I was 'blocked' again. I tried in vain to get hold of the seller to find out WTF he'd changed his opinion of foreign nationals & I then began to panic . This was midnight with mere hours away from the end of the auction ,what was I to do? I came up with the answer ....crawl ,beg & perhaps then , & only then ,threaten someone in the US to do my bidding(sic). Actually I simply asked 'He that sees etc. ' & whilst I slept the winning bid was placed & my collection will be complete *. Thanks Buddy. Many other members here have also helped me in my quest . Thankyou & all the best, buttheadsmate. *barring one or two packaging variants & that splendid idea , 'Desperately Seeking Susan 2 pack' which even I'm not buying .
  10. As long as it's not Underground Toys And TBT I'm not going to bite howver much you try, belive you me!
  11. I'm not sure if it's common-knowledge because I know few of you here are 'common' but many retailers buy their stock directly from the source in HK. They will buy direct & use their own independent freight-fowarders thus achieving the best deal for themselves. Great in theory but not so good in practice !
  12. Like yourself I love Bond but Minimates work best (& sell well) when the figure is personified by costume & uniqueness. '24 is the perfect example, take Jack Bauer away from his '24' packaging & ask someone "Who is this figure ?" My bet is they wouldn't have a clue. Try it with Iron Man or even Blue Beetle & at least you'll get "....some superhero guy". I have said all this before & I don't blame you for trying to resurrect enthusiasm but these are 'dead in the water' . My advice is buy a C3 Stealth Batwing* which includes a very under-rated Bruce Wayne figure which apart from a 'dipp-shit' expression on his face is a great basis for 007. After all 007 is a guy in a suit with a gun. *The cheapest classic Minimate set ( $ per fun value) which sells for about $10 !!!! On reflection here are 2 characters that would work........so I'm probably wrong ......one in particular REALLY works for me
  13. Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee? Now that is a nice bit of kit! I need one.......sorry .....I need another one.
  14. I know only too well that I shouldn't 'knock' another collector's passion but WTF is all that about? I used to shove one of those down my 'jockeys' when I played cricket.........I guess that's why it looks rusty
  15. Any collection of Minimates is a good collection I must admit a few more wouldn't hurt.
  16. Perhaps you could call it..... Rock Haul of Fame.......& maybe you could feature the Stones.
  17. Superb example of Stark stoned. Great stuff!
  18. I guess Luke's site is one of perhaps two sites that you visit Timbo that won't bring about premature blindness Bravo Luke great idea!
  19. I have endured many long years of ridicule from my friends who 'couldn't get their heads 'round' my love of comics, superheroes & Science Fiction . Of course as the years have gone by & these things are mainstream many of these same people now think that I'll love some of the Sci-Fi garbage that THEY are now watching. Rad , I felt compelled to write that prologue before I say that your words ...'quality Science Fiction TV' are the words of a kindred spirit I am so British it hurts but how I wish sometimes that we could produce something like this . Battlestar Galactica although not perfect is frakkin nigh on perfect . When the entire Series' Box Set comes out on Blu-Ray I'll have saved-up enough to buy it & watch it again....now that 'll be the Box Deluxe. & to put this thread back on the rails ......those 2 Waves look awesome .
  20. Welcome to the boards & don't worry about your spelling....nobody else seems to ! You might try putting an 'e' in 'superheroes' though
  21. Having never seen an episode of BSG until August 20th, we finished watching Season 4 (part 1) last night. This thread began whilst I was in process of watching Season 4 & I was terrified (truly) that someone had perhaps 'outed' the 12th. Cylon before I had finished the last episode . Thank Gods I was wrong. We'll all have our theories about who is the 12th but I am convinced I know who it is . Pity there is no way we could have conjecture without spoiling .
  22. Genius! £1.69 for the minimate. £26.75 to ship it to England. That's the best part of $50.00 to ship one single minimate in a baggy! in the USA they have dollars* ....$1.60 for the minimate & a mere $26.75 to ship it to England. That's the best part of $28.35 to ship one single minimate in a baggy!
  23. Another exceptional lesson in life: http://cgi.ebay.com/Marvel-WEB-ARMOR-SPIDE...1QQcmdZViewItem
  24. So, it doesn't look like anything for this year but hopefully next year. Thoughts? Purely my opinion: Firstly 'rising costs in China' ????? This type of comment will be flavour of the day (year) for just about everything soon & is irrelevant as Minimates have got to be one of the cheapest toys around. Secondly their 'large commitments to action figures' http://www.undergroundtoys.co.uk/store/ind...ge=products_new ...... key chains, key chains & key chains ....'Nuff Said. They also 'plan' to renew their Doctor Who deal & Minimates are still a strong ' possibility '......plans & possibilities ???? Now you might think I'm a right negative sh*t about UT & you'd be right . If they had the BBC license to do this they would do it ..... or why bother getting it ??? If 'Deff Chuff' can have his own Minimate made then I'm bloody sure someone could & would produce Dr.Who Minimates If they had the license. & in my opinion they haven't & are playing silly buggers . Its all doublespeak & its all very patronising. Dr.Who 'Mates will not happen with UT handling it......Sorry but the truth hurts & I would love to be wrong but I won't be.
