  1. Does anybody know if the Lego Ecto 10274 is 'mate compatible?
  2. It's newsworthy (perhaps) that the pre-order/re-run of the Black Hole pair have just been despatched from BBTS & it would appear they are sold out. There should therefore be some hope for these 'zords Forgive my shameless quote above which re: 'hands' ......neither MAX or Vinimatecent have Vini-hands. Anybody who wants extremely nice versions of the 2 Hole characters (without love of Vinimates) should buy these ,they are readily available on eBay/elsewhere for about $20 if you're quick.

  4. I'll try & scan some pages . BTW the album was reprinted a year later just in B & W , the cover is almost identical but not the same.
  5. I recently asked a fellow-member (US based) ,who had helped me immensely with my collection if there was anything that I could help him with . That's how it started . He asked me to look out for a UK publication printed in 1969 , The Fantastic Four ,A Full Colour Comic Album . Only published in the UK , the 'album' was in fact 3 Fantastic Four Stories reprinting issues 51,53 & 60 , featuring in no particular order the FF (obviously) ,Dr.Doom , Silver Surfer , The Black Panther ,Klaw & a few others. Asleep yet ? Bear with me , I'm relating history here So this was published in 1969 , a period when many Marvel characters were being introduced to the UK via black & white reprints . So a 'full colour comic album' featuring Marvel characters was almost unique . The cover featured the 4 members of the FF in full-colour , Sue & Reed in their Blue suits, orange-hued Thing & a fully-flamed Torch . Anybody looking at that cover in 1969, or now, just wouldn't know what lay within the book . Wake up at the back !!!! Apparently the UK publishers were merely given B & W artwork & had no idea what colours the characters should be & basically came up with their own costume colours etc . I knew little of this but my copy (that is destined for the US soon) arrived today & it is bloody priceless . You'll be pleased to know that the colourists got all the Wakandans right but Thing is purple/grey with green trunks,Doom has a yellow 'skirt-thing' with a yellow cape & his armour is blue. The Silver Surfer is obviously silver .....blue & his board is .....er...green . The Fantastic Four of course are in their famous .... I now have a new batch of Holy Grail characters . & quite why they got the cover right & everything else wrong is a mystery.
  6. Clever stuff I was going to suggest Firestar as a 'yellow donor' , I thought it would be a cheap, plentiful eBay item, not so now it seems
  7. The Batcave is ....nervous...& definitely needs the extra support that was added in the later release.
  8. Thank you Luke. Forgive me for not being precise, it was not my intention to mislead & it's important that the facts are straight Wave 81 = $26 , Wave 83 = $48 . My observation however remains much the same .
  9. Another beautifully produced set which I look forward to seeing . I'm still concerned about how much they cost ...wave 81 was/is available for $21 whilst wave 83 is nearly $48 ! I know we have debated this but... ?
  10. I can concur about the Halo Mega stuff ,there is some good stuff available albeit not cheap . I am not an avid block-builder but in the past I have modified several 'cockpits etc.' to fit Minimates ...simply & successfully. Mega Blok figures however make good firelighters . There are 2 Mega Blok Pro tanks that are kinda scale but they are BIG but then again so are tanks
  11. Action Man arrived about the time I became a teenager & I never collected any sort of toy until I was nearly 50 . I'll always be a kid who is into 'stuff' but even I had periods where I had other 'diversions'....love of football ,girls , more football more girls then less football more girls* Action Man came a little late . I can relate to GI Joe way more than 'Dungeons' or 'Power Rangers' which isn't criticism just the way it is. *no ego just the facts
  12. I also voted, yesterday. Whilst I don't entirely 'get' GI Joe , I love 'em.
  13. Many mini-figures have hands that are designed to hold accessories ,being mini-figures the scale of the hands generally blend & aren't that noticeable but they are IMHO the worst aspect of the Minimate design . I accept that this part of the Minimate design is reasonable . Taking (IMHO) the worst aspect of a Minimate & exaggerating it in an inarticulate 4" version of a Minimate just didn't work ....especially when you consider that these enormous looking hand-orbs are unlikely to carry accessories in the manner a Minimate would . All that said , I like the Zords.
  14. I couldn't do a list but when I saw the 'Avengers' movie (2012) I almost cried with joy . I am not an overly emotional person . My first Marvel comic was Avengers 19 (1963) , I was 8 years old . Seeing those characters come to life in such a magnificent manner was fantastic.
  15. I'm wondering whether the problem is the 'Vinimate' rather than the 'Zord' . Unless I am very much mistaken ,Vinimates never really set the world alight & nigh on every Vinimate that I love can barely be recognised as a big Minimate , this cannot be coincidence. I think the word is 'incongruous' & several Vinimates look incongruous when compared to the majority ,the Zords would be in this group. The Zord vinimates look un-Vinimate (my word) & IMHO fairly un-Minimate . Me ? I love the Vinimate Zords ,even though the Power Rangers are not my bag . I like the fact that they don't have too many Minimate features . Potential punters for a big-Zord, to complement their PR Minimates, may just opt for one of the many articulated /poseable Zords that are out there in other lines , there's a big choice.
  16. This really had me going....hence Harris Porter / Dragonclaw . I even thought it could have been an obscure Marvel villain known as 'T-Bone ' ,a vampire apparently. T-Bone is a similar steak to a 'porterhouse' steak ......but ...um...vampires don't like stakes . 'The Varnisher' is a clear winner .
  17. Maturing past one's 'name' is difficult.
