  1. That's true Mirymate, but it could also be a case of the writers (in that case Mark Millar I believe)giving Peter his cajones back. Gargan Venom's first fight with Spidey was when he attacked Peter at his high school reunion and killed some of Peter's old classmates, so Peter probably had some pretty strong anger backing him up, as well as the fact that Spidey's gotten into scraps with Venom enough times he ought to be over his fear/disadvantage he feels when facing off with whoever's sporting the symbiote lately. Not that Venom should be taken lightly, but it's a bit ridiculous that Peter would still be afraid of Venom when he's dealt with so much since then, including an Editor-in-Chief derailing his entire life. Sorry, couldn't resist. So stupid. Mephisto indeed.
  2. Colonel America, I'd be down for all of those, the only change I'd make would be to replace Gwen from the Clone Saga set with Ben Reilly, but other than that I love all three sets. I've never been a fan of Six-Armed Spider-Man but I think it would be much cooler to get than multiple versions of a Spidey variant. It's really bizarre to me that now we have multiple versions of variations of him, especially since there are still untapped variations out there.
  3. Excited to finally get the Vulture, now that we have almost all of the Spidey Rogues hopefully we can see villains from other corners of the Marvel Universe. Ock looks good, I liked the first Black Cat but this one looks good too, but Battle Damaged Spidey? Again? Isn't this the fourth one? Yeesh.
  4. Thor and Loki look really good, but I like the current ones just fine. Still, I'll pick them up. I've never been a huge fan of Rachel Summers but am actually surprised by how much I like her 'mates, and the Sentinel looks awesome. Any villains are good villains in my book, and I actually think Menace and Anti-Venom came out really well, plus I actually like the Anti-Venom character so I'm very happy to see him. I like that DST is able to get new characters out so soon, even beating Hasbro to the punch on several in recent months. So, what's going to happen with wave 34?
  5. I'm wondering if they're going to reveal wave 34 this way as well, since they always seem to do these things two at a time. There's nothing wrong with the last two waves that were announced, but I'm hoping to soon be able to scratch a few more names off the old wish list, fingers crossed.... Also, my wish list is almost entirely villains, partially because a lot of the heroes have been made, and also because I just like villains. My biggest wish for this line is to see more villains, make it happen DST!! Please??
  6. I like Anti-Venom's design, but I agree about what they've done with Eddie. I feel like in the end we sacrificed two big Spidey villains to repair one, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. They've yet to do anything worthwhile with the Scorpion identity, the heroic female one seems to have been a bust yet she's still wasting the title. Take the suit and put someone in it, we've got enough heroes.
  7. Well I'm hoping for Aurora/Northstar and Menace/Anti-Venom for the first two, but I feel like we may still get tricked on this, I think the fact that no obvious answers leap to mind mean DST has a trick or two up its' sleeve. Some of the guesses are so obscure that I can't believe DST would go with such unknowns, given their love of including at least one heavy hitter in each wave.
  8. I have to say it's nice always getting to update the list whenever a new series is announced. This one isn't as big an update as some I've done, but here goes, the Wolverine and Spider-Man selections still stand... *Blizzard *Vulture *Pyro *Klaw *Xorn (removable helmet, Magneto head, I've been singing this song for a while now...) *Toad *The Lizard *Baron Zemo *Winter Soldier *Crossbones
  9. That's what I'd like to see them start doing if they want to continue making movie waves, is mix in movie style with comic style so we don't get another situation like X3 where there's not a single new character in the whole wave. Other people may have liked it, but I didn't buy a single one because I don't need multiples of characters without something new to balance it out.
  10. That tiny photo is the cruelest tease in quite a while, the only person you get a good look at is Angel who we've seen in 'mate form already!! I looked on google but found no one else who had this news, so we're stuck till they fix it or someone else posts the news.
  11. Hi guys, Marvelousnews has the lineups listed for both and a small photo, but it says at the bottom to look for more photos in the gallery and they're nowhere to be found, can anyone tell me where else to look? Thanks!! Oh, and the Secret Wars box set lineup sucks. Just saying.
  12. Wow! Time to update my list. Looks like DST banged out my list last year. So here is my updated version! New Top Ten *Blackbolt *Sabertooth (original costume) *Kraven the Hunter *Ant Man *Toad *Beast (classic blue) *Deadpool *Gambit *Red Skull *Elektro Spidey/Wolvie Variants *AoA Wolverine *Six-arm Spider-Man Holy Min-Marvels, Batman! DST keeps doing my list! My new, improved list for 2010: New, New Top Ten * Mole-Man * Toad * Blackbolt * Tigra * Mockingbird * Blob * Pyro * Kang * Baron Zemo * Silver Samurai Spidey/Wolvie Variants *AoA Wolverine *Six-arm Spider-Man I'm laying odds we'll see the rest of those before this time next year. ...Except for Kang. I hope you're right, except I want Kang too!! We need more villains!!
  13. I'd pretty much be keen for any box set with four villains, as there are far more villains I'd like to see at this point than heroes, especially as the regular waves are typically hero-heavy so I feel a Hero character is far more likely than a villainous counterpart, case in point Klaw, whose best shot at being 'mated was arguably with his nemesis Black Panther who is coming with Storm, so I think it'd be difficult to work him into the line now, but I'd love to be proven wrong. *hinthint* Anywho, long winded diatribe aside, I was thinking something like this: Blizzard Klaw Crossbones Tiger Shark The way I'm looking at it, they're villains who are tied strongly to a particular hero, but frankly I'd rather get them this way than having to buy yet another Iron Man, Captain America, ect. It will never happen, but I'd like to see something like this.
  14. Ah, I do love when I get to update the old wishlist... The Newest Top 10: *Blizzard *Vulture *Pyro *Multiple Man *Xorn(with removable mask to reveal Magneto head) *Toad *The Lizard *Baron Zemo *Winter Soldier *Crossbones Spider-Man/Wolverine Variants: *Kaine (Kind of a cheat, but whatever) * Age of Apocalypse Wolverine(with hand and alternate stump cover) Also, I'm adding a new feature, which is Top 4 most wanted box sets, since they seem to have become a bigger aspect of 'mates recently. I debated whether to have them follow a format, and finally decided on the following: Big Event(Secret Wars, Secret Invasion Civil War), Team Builder(Defenders, Dark Avengers, Thunderbolts), Versions of a Character(Iron Man, Wolverine), and one that's completely my choice. I settled on: Event- The Clone Saga:Oh yes, I went there... (Jackal, Kaine, Scarlet Spider with new removable mask, Spidercide) Team- The Wrecking Crew (Bulldozer, Piledriver, Thunderball, Wrecker) Character- Spider-Man: Wait, this one is actually not bad!! Identity Crisis (Ricochet, Hornet, Prodigy, Dusk) As these fake heroic identities were assumed later by other people, it allows for DST's Spider-fixation while also giving us new characters. My Choice- Masters of Evil IV (Baron Zemo, Grey Gargoyle, Songbird, Tiger Shark)
  15. The short answer is Takara is a japanese toy company. They made the toys Hasbro rebranded into Transformers 25 years ago. Once Transofrmers took off, they made the Japanese versions. Right now, since they are not bound by US toys law they can make TF's that the US can't or has to modify to bring over in "unnacceptable" ways. (go to any TF board and search for "short smoke stacks", you'll get the idea) In recent times, they re-release US TF's with different, often more extensive and more "show accurate", paint jobs. For this they are praised and Hasbro is evil. I know, I don't get it either. I'm sure TM2 chopperface could explain it, but we're veering off point. Which was it's always fun to find out who the "good guys" and "bad guys" are in any new collector community. Hate to be the bringer of bad news, Valo, but Black Panther is the less popular character that they're hoping will sell better if paired with the Storm in what's probably her best known costume. I agree, although I think Panther has appeal to kids based on his look, very Batman-esque. I was a big fan of his as a kid based solely on his costume without knowing anything of the character. I'm probably in the minority on that, but it does happen.
  16. Very true, and I have no doubt that Spider-Man sells well, but it's hard to know why. Almost every Spider-Man I've bought Minimate-wise was due to the character sharing the pack with him, so it seems to be a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy. We get a lot of Spideys because they sell well, but they also package him with a character fans have wanted for years, so it's hard to know why he sells well. Is it because of him, or for the character he's packed with? Either way, I'm glad we're close to having all Spidey's major villains, I wonder if after we get Vulture and Lizard if they'll start using his less popular villains such as Boomerang and Tombstone or packing him with characters from other aspects of the Marvel Universe?
  17. I understand the business decisions behind all the Spideys, I do think more than one per wave is a bit much as if a casual fan wants one, there's one right there, having two makes it more likely they'll pass on that one. To make it more clear, I'm a random shopper who happens upon a wave of minimates. I've never bought one before, but I want Spider-Man!! So I buy the one that reminds me most of the regular one, in this wave that'd be HoM Spider-Man. If I decide to buy one more set, it'll likely be for a new character as opposed to another version of Spider-Man. There are exceptions of course, Black suit Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider could very likely inspire a purchase on their own merit, but not all Spidey variants have the same strength to the uninitiated. This isn't meant to be an attack on Spider-Man or a question about DST's business decisions, just a thought. In mass market superhero lines the figures that seem to sell the least are the strange variations of the hero. I think that instead of three or more versions of Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man in one wave it would be better to use one a wave as the "anchor" and use the rest down the line to help sell a less popular character. As we're likely to see Storm and Black Panther in Wave 29, I can't help feeling both could have been used to help sell a less popular character, such as Black Panther/Klaw and Storm/Callisto, for example. I feel like these characters have less chance of being made as their chief adversary has been released already.
  18. Come, Come, Valo. We've soooo moved past that. We're on to deals with the devil and the 70's status quo personal life. Oh believe me I know, it'd just be hard to make 'mates from that story except for maybe Mephisto who would actually be cool, unless they can make a Spidey who can fit his head up his ass, or one of Joey Q giving all the fans the finger.
  19. I completely agree, I feel it's a shame that he got swept away with all the other traces of the Clone Saga, especially now that we've had stories that are arguably as bad to take the sting out of it. They may never top it for sheer longevity, but give me Kaine, Ben Reilly and the Jackal over Morlun or Gwen Stacy's rapidly Aging Twins(now available at Wal-Mart!!) any day.
  20. You're right man. I shouldn't have laid into you like that. All I saw when I looked at your post was a whiny fanboy crying because he didn't like what other people were doing. I didn't look deeper and see that there might be an actual reasoning to your discontentment. I'm sorry for taking it all out on you. Pax? No worries man, I only was bothered because I was trying not to be one of those people whining about stuff online, haha. I do like that Spidey to be honest with you, I just wish we could see him in a two pack one day with Vulture, Electro, Boomerang, even Anti-Venom. No matter what happens though, I'm glad we all got the chance to pick a minimate, I hope they continue to do these sorts of online polls. Peace sir.
  21. I could be completely off, but considering how many people were disappointed about Bullseye and Moonstone's absence from the Thunderbolts only to be relieved by the announcement of this set, I feel like DST is in some way or another planning to get those two to us. How they do it is anyone's guess, but I can't see them starting the team and not finishing it this close to the finish line. If this set didn't exist I'd say it's probably a slim chance, but now that these two have been revealed I feel like their likelihood went up substantially.
  22. As tempting as it is to respond to you in the same rude and self-important way as you did to me, I am not going to because as I have seen from my discussion with battlecat that it is possible to have civil discussions about a topic you don't agree on. I'll stick that in my pipe and smoke it thank you. I had originally written a post lamenting that you felt the need to chime in and turn a civil discussion into a far too common petulant fanboy rant, but after reading the last few posts, I deleted it. I've my opinion, and so do you. I have said my piece and have nothing to add until it's over and we discover who has made it. Thank you for setting me straight, why would I ever DREAM to disagree with you, on an open message board? Opinions are no good, thank you sir for showing me the light. To battlecat I say sincerely: Thank you, would that more people with a computer and an opinion could express it as politely and eloquently as you have. Kudos.
  23. So I'm sorry for misreading your meaning that it was individuals cheating rather than DST, but my point is the same -- it only seems strange to you because you can't see why anyone would want another Spidey. But there are plenty of reasons why they would (and clearly do), as I already listed. People voting for different reasons than us doesn't necessarily mean anything fishy is going on. Having said that, yeah people have definitely voted multiple times. They've said as much in this thread, but that's all been votes against Spidey (ie. trying to knock him out of the set by boosting up MM and Beyonder). This likely means people have voted multiple times for Spidey too, sure. The vast majority of votes are still going to be legit though, when you're talking about 1500+ votes. Just to make a dent in that you'd have to cheat a whole lot, and to sustain Spidey's top 4 position if no one was really voting for him would be impossible for anyone other than DST... I totally get the disappointment/frustration of this being a fan poll, but not reflecting the consensus of what Multiversers (as the line's biggest fans) would want to see in a perfect set. Ideally, people who aren't Secret Wars fans wouldn't vote, people who aren't going to buy the set wouldn't vote, and (for some) people who are both a SW fan and going to buy the set *but* believe Spidey deserves a slot wouldn't vote... but it's a fan poll, so they all can. As such I just don't find it particularly weird that more people want their 31st (or their 3rd or 15th or whatever) Spidey than a Molecule Man. All just my opinion of course If my last post read like I was attacking you specifically, I didn't intend it to. Something about all the anger directed at this Spidey just makes me want to defend the poor little bastard (usually at unfortunate length). No worries, one of the things I like most about this forum is that people can disagree without it becoming unpleasant. I reread my posts earlier and can see why it came off wrong, what I meant was that I felt like someone who really wanted Spidey for some reason was voting for him every time another character got close to him, but either way at the end of the day I can't do much about Spider-Man's likely place in this box set. After some thought, I wish DST had allowed us to choose four, in essence choose our own assortment for the box set, as I feel like we'd get a better idea of a character's overall popularity. I really liked the Ben Grimm minimate, but wanted Molecule Man most so I had to pass on him. I also think the Captain Marvel and the Beyonder's energy forms are costing them some votes, as if you combine the two Beyonder becomes a much bigger success and Captain Marvel's lead becomes enormous. My girlfriend when she saw it wanted me to vote for the Beyonder's energy form, even after I explained that he would be pretty much useless without a normal Beyonder. Overall I appreciate the opportunity to vote, I just hope this isn't the last time DST and Art Asylum decide to give us some power over our purchases.
  24. I'm not implying my opinion is that of every one else, simply stating that I don't understand why everyone would want yet another version of Spider-Man when there are 30, including more than a few related to Black Costume Spider-Man, especially when Wave 30 has shown us DST will seize any Spider-Man costume for inclusion in a future wave. As for people who have never read Secret Wars, I think that's a bit of a hollow argument, since the entire set is about Secret Wars. True, no one is obligated to know one bit about the story to vote, but I would hope people would at least be interested to know who the characters are if they feel compelled to vote in a poll about the story. I know Doom isn't as big a name, but definitely a big name, and very close to his classic look unlike both Spider-Man and Storm who are wiping the floor with him, hence my point that people voting for what they know seems odd when there are three well known characters but only two are experiencing any strong support. If you review my posts, I never implied that DST has a part in any conspiracy to get Spidey in the set. I'm sure they'd love it if he wins a spot, my point was that I feel like there are a lot of casual people voting who are voting for Spider-Man just because they know him but have no interest in the set, and perhaps some people voting multiple times to get him in there. I could be completely wrong, we'll never know. I guess I just find it really strange that in the first ever fan poll for minimates which is something people have been asking DST to do for years in the Q+A's, that we're seeing all this support for yet another Spider-Man. Why ask for the ability to influence what product gets made when the votes go to someone who has been made so many times anyway? It's disappointing to think that in our first real chance to have our opinion matter we're likely to end up with one or two new characters, and two that we've just found out are getting made in waves 29 and 30 anyway.
  25. I love minimates, but few sets actually provoke a physical reaction from me, but when I saw the new Bullseye and Moonstone set I sat straight up and yelled "sweet!" Does this make me happy? Absolutely. Does it also fetch me unpleasant looks in the library? Absolutely.
