  1. Yeah dude - that is one sweet custom! It's definitely one for the record books
  2. I like the comics - i havent seen too many serious comics done with minimates *just about all of the ones I've seen are humorous in some way* Cool backgrounds, a decent amount of special effects, but I think the thing I like the most are the cool camera angles. Some of them are very creative And some of those customs are very well done
  3. Dang. Now I feel like a schmuck for not being on for a while Yeah, it was Cloneme that made my custom Scarlet Spider *to this day, the best custom that I own... of course, I havent gotten my commission from Antacost yet, but still* I seriously couldn't have been happier than with the job that Cloneme did. Of course, you'll have to ask him if he is willing/able to make you one. If he's anything like me, free time is not a luxury anymore  But he gave me a pretty decent deal. All I had to do was supply the minimate (I believe I gave him pieces from a Daredevil *battle damaged, IIRC* and Ultimate Spiderman).
  4. I caught a showing of TMNT on tuesday... my feelings were mixed when I walked out of the theater. It handled the property more seriously/grown up than either of the cartoons did, but there was still an element of cartoony/cheesy/corny writing that it definitely could have done without. The visuals were hit and miss at times... the misses were mainly with the human characters (though for the most part, the turtles themselves *and the monsters and foot clan* looked great) ... the biggest strength of this movie was its fight scenes, and when this movie shines - it shines. The rooftop fight scene in the rain was definitely the visual highlight of the whole experience. Overall, this is definitely a movie aimed at two audiences - the young adults who grew up with and loved the original series, and the elementary-aged kids who are growing up with the newest installment of the Ninja Turtles franchise. That is what makes this movie good (not bad, not great... but good). If it were aimed solely at the current generation, it would be too cartoony/childish for us old school fans. But if it were aimed at our generation and not the kids' generation, it would probably end up more like the original 1990 movie and have a tendency to lose the interest of the younger audience. So they went for a balance between the two. All in all, I loved it for what it was... but then, I pretty much went into it expecting it to disappoint me, so all that was left was for me to enjoy it
  5. All in all, I'd say this is shaping up to be a pretty cool game all, watching that brings back good old memories of my N64 days of playing Goldeneye...
  6. I completely agree with JL on this... Sandman looks AMAZING, but doesnt really resemble a minimate anymore. But DANG if those new scuplts don't look sweet! Venom is looking pretty good, but that transformation Spiderman is definitely a keeper. I love the expression on his face...
  7. ... dang That really was fast. Well, CornerStoreComics still has that option for both 17 and 18. There's some dispute among board members about that site, though... apparently their customer service isn't always up to par
  8. A case is 12x 2 packs. So you get a total of 24 minimates, and if I am remembering correctly, you only get one variant per case. If your only real desire in ordering a case is to get the variant, you may want to look into the option over at Stuckakid to preorder the full set plus variant, as opposed to a whole case. It's much cheaper that way (if all you're wanting is one variant).
  9. I've overly impressed... Needless to say, when I saw transformation Venom, my jaw hit the floor. It's not perfect, but dang if it isnt awesome just the way it is... and we finally get a camera! I was disappointed years ago when the Peter Parker/MJ con exclusive didn't come with a camera... I'm glad they decided to give us one, even if we had to wait this long Peter's jacket is a beautiful new sculpt, which could be used for a number of different things. The spider symbol on his shirt looks a bit odd, but you can tell that it's a photoshop job (I wonder how many of these were rushed for this announcement? and how many changes are going to happen between now and their release?) ... Eddie's hair looks great, but that jacket kinda makes it look like they were going for a big chest deal (maybe it's just the angle?) which is odd, cuz his character (although he did pump up a bit for the movie) isnt exactly built... But overall, I'd say these are very nicely done minis. And that's saying something, considering that two of them are basically "normal" people... not the colorful or easily recognizable super heroes that we're used to getting...
  10. Yeah, I can totally mirror that statement. I've been a member of boards where cut-throat is the lifestyle... nearly everything TENIME_art just stated is true of so many places out there on the web. I think it may have something to do with the way the community interacts... here at MMMV, it's a *relatively* small number of people who converse on a very regular basis. Over on other boards where there are thousands upon thousands of members, it's easy to treat someone like crap and not have to give it another thought. It's more homely here... it's more personal. The people who participate in this board know most of the rest of the people here, and they have respect for one another. Granted, this board is growing in popularity as time goes on, and maybe one day Minimate Multiverse will be among the ranks of boards/communities that hold thousands of members... but I sincerely hope that no matter what number of members we get, we always maintain the friendliness/hospitality/good naturedness that this board has claimed as a virtue  [/floury speech]
  11. That might explain why we're getting a half-masked symbiote Spidey minimate, with a silly smirk on his face...
  12. I dont want to sound like I'm complaining, but the half-masked Spidey seems a little silly to me MJ and Gwen look pretty good, though. I think I'm about as impressed with MJ's minimate as I was with Kirstin Dunst playing her in the movies, and Gwen has a huge smile... It's nice to see the new hair molds, too
  13. That is a seriously great idea... I was thinking as I bought my Spidey mates that if these sell well, it would be a good sign to DST and would encourage the efforts they're making. But writing to them to let them know is taking it up another notch I think I'll go write to them right now...
  14. the way I understood it, that means that the 2 packs will be shipped out on that date. I could be wrong, but based on my past experiences with online preorders, that's usually what that phrasing means...
  15. They opened 30 minutes early! If you want to order these suckers, head over there now! They're available
  16. I've seen a lot of online stores do that when they're offering a time-specific item. I'm only guessing at this, because I've never run an online store, but apparently the easiest way to debut the item in the store is to upload the item's description/order page ahead of time, but keep the quantity at zero and then change the quantity at the moment that you're ready to start selling them. I guess it eliminates any last minute hassle like html problems or things of that nature. *shrugs*
  17. blacksun1520 - I saw that too, and I also got depressed... but then I got excited again, because DST just posted this site on their site: "The 2-pack will go on sale at Wizard World Los Angeles on Friday March 16th and will retail for $7.00 at the show. For the first time, we will be making a convention exclusive available to the public at the same time, launching this exclusive Minimate two-pack on our online store for the same low price! Available at 3:00 PM EST, only a limited quantity will be offered for pre-order, so be sure to act fast!" ...3:00 PM EST go check out the main page of DST's site for all the details
  18. The shoulder pieces probably stand out to me as the most remarkable part of this whole figure... but the whole thing is amazing! I love the fact that you actually made the circle glow in the dark! Dang. SO much better than anything I could have ever drempt of coming up with...
  19. Not to add to instigation or anything... but I think that the overall quality actually has improved a bit. I was interested when I saw the POTC megabloks, so I picked up a few of them. And that got me interested in the figures (sure they're kinda weird, but their oddness set them apart from Lego figs - not better, just different. and sometimes you need different to break monotony Anyway, I got interested in them, so I went out to pick up some others. I found some of the knight/ogre sets, and picked them up, only to find that their quality was horrendous. Needless to say, I was disappointed. But then I noticed that these other figs that I had picked up were older than the POTC sets... all of this is to say that the quality has indeed improved; not just the articulation, but also the quality of the plastic. Though they still don't compare to Lego. But at least they aren't the really cheapo ripoff of Lego that I originally labeled them as being *shrug* Anyway, Cappy - I noticed that you asked for pics of Minimates on a ship. I happen to have a few for ya here: pic 1, pic 2, pic 3, pic 4, pic 5, pic 6, pic 7 All I had available to me at the time were a couple of my SF2 minimates... I suppose I could take more with other characters, but I’m too lazy to go take new pics  *EDIT... sorry, forgot to mention that this ship is the Black Pearl from the POTC set
  20. Do any of these sets have the buildings like the Daily Bugle or the Bank or the Camera shop that MegaBloks have released for Spiderman sets in the past?
  21. I've been working on a Donny B minimate... it's not finished yet, though. I'm still working on the finishing touches for the facial hair and the shoes, and I am working on a decal for the tshirt.
  22. Nice Definitely a massive amount of detailing on those minis. I love the fact that there's webbing on the hands I can't say that they're quite as amazing as I was hoping they'd be, but they certainly aren't disappointing  I can't wait to see the rest of them!
  23. Yeah, it looks like it may be. But even if it is a repaint, it would still make for a fairly decent quick-custom hairpiece for a helmet-less Magneto
  24. WINGS! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I will be in debt for years to come  I don't know how much more news I will be able to handle... I'm going to have to sell a kidney to pay for all these upcoming mates
