  1. Yeah, because a comic company can't have a successful line of Superhero Squad type figure at the same time as Minimates. That'd be impossible to do that. Does DC just not like making money?
  2. And just picture the Salaak body as Goro. It'd be a perfect line for Minimates.
  3. If we'd gotten Mortal Kombat mates instead of SFII, I don't think there'd have only been one wave. Can you imagine the possibilities?
  4. That is funny. I thought that that forum closed down or something, which spurred the creation of this one. I don't think that I had even seen that site before today. I know what you mean Karamazov80. I resigned my membership there a looong time ago, like most and hit these happy halls throughout my day AA was my 1st forum, Palisade my 2nd. Now both are pretty much gone for me Most of the awesome folks I knew over there are in this forum and alot more positive vibe is enjoyed by all. Those were the days, weren't they. I do like this site much better than what AA's became, but I do miss the Palisades one. It's like all the crap I didn't like on there is all that's on the creatusmaximus site, which I suppose is as close to a replacement site as there is. Don, I saw your exchange on there about trading stuff and that pretty much sealed my not going over there again. It was just a good example of what it's become.
  5. It just keeps getting better. And I'm so glad that Commander Sisko is the variant.
  6. A few year ago I wanted some stuff off of their site and contacted them to see if they bought Minimates also. They did and offered me cash or credit. I've done it a few times and they are great about it. I don't know if they do it for everybody, but it's always been good for me.
  7. Yeah, I'm staying a Minimate purist. I've never had any desire for the other stuff other than occassional Mez-Itz (who can pass up RunDMC?) And I've been selling and trading the 'better' extras I have. I also just sent a bunch to stuckakid to get credit to buy some that will fill in some gaps. This way I've kept my average to under $3 a Minimate (actually closer to $2). The nice thing about starting over is I can be pickier and not end up having every version of the Thing or Wolverine since I can see which version I like best and just get that one. And most are much cheaper after they've been out a couple of years if you do it right.
  8. I'm just happy to see this line in the announcment: "With fans clamoring for more characters and plans ramping up to continue the Minimate line well into the future, be sure to stick around for more updates as the summer convention season begins!" After 20+ waves things just keep going well (take that, DC Minimates).
  9. So, today is a month to the day since I started collecting again and I now have over 180 Minimates (with more in the mail). I'm supposing this is like going from being at an AA meeting one week and then being in an alcohol-induced coma a month later. I so need an intervention....
  10. When I look at the Question, Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean' pops in my head for some reason.
  11. I prefer the series 1 version. I think the Adams-style one goes well with Robin, but I don't like that Robin much. Too 'Superfriends' looking for me.
  12. I didn't display it with Minimates, but I bought one for my boys' Christmas a couple years ago. Let me just say after returning the first one to the store (because it was crap), the second one didn't last long. I suppose if you're not playing with it it wouldn't be that bad, but I'm not sure about how it would look with the scale.
  13. Sounds right to me. And I'd forgotten about the database. Thanks for the help.
  14. For those who have both, what's the difference between the Batman that comes with Clayface and the one that comes with the OMAC? Any pictures showing them together would be swell. Thanks.
  15. "Marvel has put a moritorium on any further Marvel Zombie merchandise of any kind. Marvel was concerned about the negative image seeing their major characters would have on the public so they pulled the plug on any further Zombie products." They don't want the negative image of their characters, yet they are the ones that made them zombies in the first place-am I the only one confused?
  16. Yes, but hasbrotoyshop is waaaaaaay behind on shipping things out. I've preordered a few things from them and got them way after I saw them on the shelves.
  17. I've got wave one and plan on getting all that they make. I just ignore the price somehow. I'm keeping them in the box for now thinking that I'm just waiting to see if they're worth something later on. Deep down I know they won't be, but it makes buying them easier to justify.
  18. I had no idea this thread would turn into this. Man, I missed being here.
  19. I've been out of collecting Minimates now for a long time. It's always been hard to collect toys being a single-income family of four and a couple years ago I had to sacrifice my Minimate collection to pay bills. I had close to two hundred at the time and it was pretty hard to do, but I know it was the best thing (and don't regret it). Sometime later, I bought a lot of Minimates from someone for a great price and thought I'd start up again, but soon after found out it was going to get harder because we were becoming a family of five on one income. Again, I sold my new found treasure (with no regrets). So here it is now and things have gotten easier to take care of the family and I found the opportunity to buy 60 mates from someone and it looks like I'm starting over again. I even picked up a 24 2-pack on clearance while I was out tonight (maybe just to prove to myself I was doing it for real this time). That's my big confession. I fell off the wagon. I couldn't escape my desire for plastic crack. I have no self-control when it comes to these things. To quote one of my favorite proverbs, "As a dog returns to his own vomit, so a fool repeats his folly." woof woof
  20. What if new Minimates will only be released with special editions of the movies they're from? I don't think that'll be the case, just trying to be the voice of unreason And has it definitely been confirmed that these are really happening?
  21. That's the next license they'll probably debut, right before Silver Spoons and Facts of Life...
  22. Tigh's head makes me think of the auto pilot from the movie Airplane! for some reason.
  23. I was just thinking yesterday how I'd love to see an 80's line of minis including BTTF. Now, if only they'd do the Ghostbusters, Karate Kid and Bill & Ted and a Knight Rider Michael with a C3 KITT, that'd be totally awesome.
  24. With a David Palmer/Dennis Haysbert figure, my Speed Racer Minimate will finally be able to buy auto insurance. As a fan of both 24 and BSG, I'll take anything I get, however it looks. And isn't it funny that Minimates don't discriminate with the female figures? Most lines seem to avoid having to many women, yet think of all the new women mates we'll see this year.
  25. I have three classic that were fine, but I got one modern that has a stiff knee. I haven't tried the various methods to fix it yet. I'm kind of scared to.
