  1. Those Myclone figures look great! How tall are they, and how do they compare size-wise to 2" minimates? Could anyone post a comparison pic? Thanks!
  2. Certain lines, I'll get every figure, including variations. So, LOTR & BSG, I'll get every single one. Other lines, I'll only get what I like. I'm working on getting one of each Marvel character, but not every single different costume or variation. For example, since I've got Assault Punisher, I don't need the earlier exclusive. And I've already got way too many Things & Wolverines! I'm not that into DC comics, so I'm only getting the more recognizable characters. Superman? Sure! Booster Gold? I'll pass. I'll also pass on exclusives that don't really belong to any franchise - different colored blanks, silver Spider-Man, etc. I guess that means I'm picky!
  3. I've gone back and forth on this item. On one hand, it would be good to display all the comic characters, and you could use it for certain BSG guys, assuming it's Caprica, and maybe the Rocky 'mates. On the other, you can't really use LOTR 'mates, or most of the BSG 'mates. I guess I just talked myself out of it! Speaking of concerts, that big fan reminds me of the concert stage on Saturday Night Live!
  4. Well said, Donny B. Market saturation killed the LOTR 'mates, plain and simple. A minimate Frodo isn't too impressive when you've already got a Frodo keychain, bookmark, action figure, hat, CD, magazine, etc. I could see the Office Space 'mates selling steadily as an online exclusive, maybe also bundled with the DVD, like they did with the Avengers cartoon. Getting one free exclusive 'mate with the film, along with a catalog showing all the others, could get folks interested in the whole minimate universe. And I love the idea of a cubicle playset. It makes me yearn for another golden opportunity for a minimate line - SEINFELD!
  5. I've been a longtime collector of Star Wars Lego, which got me into Spider-Man Lego. My interest there waned, due mostly to the lack of character diversity. I picked up a complete set of LOTR 'mates last winter at a great price, but it was an impulse buy and they stayed in the closet for a long time. Once I found out about the BSG 'mates, I started reading into the whole minimate collecting community on this site and the HQ. About a month ago I arranged a trade on the Rebelscum forums - my Sideshow 12" Mace Windu for about 60 Marvel & C3 'mates, and I've never looked back. Since then, I've been opening my LOTR 'mates, trading for more Marvel 'mates, & (gasp!) placing preorders for upcoming BSG, Marvel, & DC waves! Now I've just gotta clear out some room for all these 'mates. So long, Lego...
  6. That's so cool! One of the main things that attracted me to minimates was the variety of licenses. Where else can you pit Wolverine against Super Man against Tony the Tiger against Boomer against Rocky Balboa against a giant Kirk? "Office Space marks the latest addition to Diamond Select Toys’ growing portfolio of diverse licenses - including sci-fi hits such as Star Trek and Stargate, Marvel Comics, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Street Fighter and films such as X-Men: The Last Stand, Ghost Rider, Joss Whedon’s Serenity and the Rocky series. " I highlighted the properties from which we have seen Minimates in red. In green are the properties I'd love to see become 'mates. How about it, AA? Bring us some Firefly 'mates!
  7. SWEET! Now let's get AA to whip up some 'mates based on this series, and have 'em ready for next Halloween!
  8. That's cool. I gotta get caught up on all those BSG podcasts!
  9. Just wanted to say that I think your site is great, and I hope you keep up the news pages. Any way to publicize minimates is good for AA and therefore is good for collectors like us. Also, I wanted to thank you for your reviews pages. I just got a large loose collection of 'mates, and your site really helped me sort out what accessories go with what figs. Thanks man!
  10. "Collaborators" was a decent episode. It seems Starbuck is even more fraked up from her time on NC than we thought. I liked all the Circle stuff. Tigh needs to be discharged - he's not fit to serve! I didn't care for the design of the room they've got Baltar in. It was hard to look at and reflected a low budget. Granted, they probably spent a lot of their money on the NC sets & effects. Plus, Baltar's room didn't look anything like the inside of the Base Star that we saw at the end of Season 1. Hopefully they'll find a reason to move him to another, less garish part of the ship.
  11. That's some fine work, Tk. I'd love to see your Firefly & LOST 'mates become a reality!
  12. Very cool, I think I'm going to send away for one too. The question is: what Minimate item would you most like to have autographed? I'm considering a Blue Prof/Dark Phoenix box...
  13. Hmmm.... Is it that there will be a Cylon w/ Raider to be released at some point? "Of course they are really Lego type figures..." Man, than line kills me.
  14. Alright, here's something that's been bugging me. Who here thinks that Jammer is a Cylon? We saw him in the police ceremony, then his buddy blew the place up. Then at the beginning of the next episode, we see Jammer again, apparently unharmed, taking orders from a Brother Cavil copy. So.... was he not hurt in the explosion, or is he a Cylon, and if so, is he unaware like Boomer was in the beginning?
  15. Yep, absolutely the best show on television. I started watching the DVDs about a year ago and quickly got my girlfriend (now fiancee) hooked. Season 3 has been fraking amazing so far, can't wait for the next ep! Also, I noticed the Toy Chest page has changed so that Roslin & Zarek aren't shown anymore.
  16. "You do not have permission to view this category." Grrrr.... Now I'm going on my memory from last night, but I just couldn't see the likeness in Tyrol. The others look great, though. Samwise, I like your 'cleaning up' of Tigh, though I also like the original. Maybe yours could be a younger version that could be packed with a mustache-touting Adama - a flashback two-pack!
  17. Welcome! I'm new here too, so we young-uns have to stick together! I took a gamble on some clearanced LOTR 'mates and enjoyed them, but it's the BSG 'mates that have got me hooked full time!
  18. The only question I have is: Will they make a Judd Hirsch with nuclear bomb playset? Family Guy, anyone?
  19. Now THAT is the Beast figure I want. The rest, I can take or leave.
  20. Ahhh, I joined only a few days ago, and already I've found the Transformers thread! I'm thrilled about the new Classic Deluxe line. They're the first Transformers I'm getting since I was a kid! Right now, hasbrotoyshop.com has Starscream and Astrotrain in stock for 10 bucks each (do a search for 'Transformers'). I've got them ordered, and I have Bumblebee & Mirage waiting for me in a box at work, just haven't had time to rip into them. I plan on getting all the pre-movie G1 characters. Hot Rod(imus) looks like a great figure, but I've hated his character, and all the other movie characters, since back in the day. Check out tformers.com for a great database on upcoming Classics, including more jets and a certain purple & green gestalt!
  21. Is that what they were eating in the dinner scene of Temple of Doom?
  22. Yeah, one could argue that Star Wars would be the 'golden license' and could bring widespread attention to the 'mates line. I've already got so much Star Wars stuff that if I went in for Star Wars 'mates, I'd really have to prioritize my stuff & probably unload quite a lot!
  23. I just pulled the trigger on a case of modern Cylons! Awesome selection for army builders. It's nice to know that I'll at least be covered on variants for this wave!
  24. I'd throw my vote in for any & all Tick characters.
  25. I'm confused as to why they show Roslin/Zarek, but don't name them. Are these figs confirmed to be in this wave, and then this is just missing text in their description? Also, what about the all-toaster waves that were announced by shopafx.com & other places. Is the toaster wave considered Wave 1? Overall, I'm thrilled with this lineup of first figs. Plenty to like, and plenty to look forward to!
