  1. I'll buy at least one of every new-BSG minimate produced, period.
  2. My avatar just reflects my love of nu-BSG. My name comes from a combination of my last name (Bean) and the film Soylent Green starring the unstoppable Charlton Heston. Soylent Green isn't the greatest movie ever made, but it is a good film, and even though most everyone knows the twist by now, it's worth watching. It was directed by the late Richard Fleischer, who also directed my all-time favorite movie ever, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Also, there's a secret code in the second line of dashes in my signature line!
  3. This sounds like a great idea to me. I'm not familiar with WoW (beyond that hilarious South Park episode), but it seems there's a variety of fantasy characters there. I wouldn't want to ever see Minimates marketed as blank customizable figures with decals like Stickfas. Rather, I'd want to see single-packed generic character types, each with a variety of swappable parts. I think it would work well to do them in 2", 2.5", and 3" sizes, just like the LOTR mates. What a great way to fill out our Middle Earth armies! In order to drum up interest, they could offer the first WoW minimates as exclusive prizes for completing some in-game task. Then they could mass-market the non-exclusive variations. That would bring exposure of 'mates to players and probably non-players, too.
  4. The first step is admitting you have a problem. Good for you! The second step is forgetting you have a problem and buying a whole bunch more stuff to atone for ever thinking you had gone astray. Congratulations! This step is considerably easier than the first step. Good luck dude!
  5. In reference to the original thread topic: DROOL! Those cases look sweet! I've got one case of Modern preordered already from Stuckakid. I'd like to pick up one Classic Cylon (probably the chrome version), partly for nostalgia and partly because one was seen briefly in the museum display on the hangar deck in the miniseries, which makes them canon in the new series.
  6. Congratulations! Finding the booklets is a major... uh... find! You should assemble all the sets and post some pics!
  7. A black Spidey for the summer or fall release is a no-brainer. I'm sure they could figure out a way to make him different enough from the original release. It's only a matter of time, people!
  8. I think doing vehicles in a super-deformed style is a great idea. That would match well with the aesthetics of minimates - cute, without being TOO blocky. Lego does blocky, and they do it well, so let them do their thing, and use that to your advantage by offering something unique in the marketplace.
  9. I'm a child of the late 70's & 80's, so I went through all those great toy lines: GI Joe, Transformers, He-Man, Kenner Star Wars, Go Bots, and so on. My favorite individual toy was the Hasbro Air Raiders Thunderhammer, because it came with an action figure named Jad. Hey, that's my name! But if I could only take one toy line with me to the afterlife, it would be the Galoob Star Wars MicroMachines. Not the Action Fleet, mind you, though that would rank as another great toy line. No, I'm speaking of the Galoob Classic Trilogy MicroMachines, with platform playsets, HO scale figures, and plastic ships sold (usually) in three-packs. If you've got a complete run of the toy line (like me!), you've got: - every major character in every major costume - platform sets or transforming heads to represent almost every single scene from the Classic Trilogy - every major and most minor ship represented in plastic, including many battle damage variations - tons of army builders - Stormtroopers, Jawas, TIE Pilots, Ewoks, you name it! - transforming playsets! Open up the Double Takes Death Star and you find... Tatooine? Sure, why not! Or how about Vader's lightsaber becoming the Death Star trench! - storage space! A complete loose set can be stored in one large plastic tub - money! Most of the sets can be had on eBay fairly cheap There you have it! Man, now I want to get my MicroMachines out...
  10. Disclosure: I haven't seen the film. I buy just about all minimates - I'm even looking forward to Rocky and the cereal ones! So, here's what I would look for in an I, Robot line: 2" figures. This is essential. As for level of detail, look no further than BSG. They're perfect. If you're going to do vehicles, go all-out and make them scuplted plastic. No C3 Lego-wannabes. I can't speak about the characters specifically, but make a wide variety available. I'm a big fan of the BAF concept. I would definitely get troop-builder sets if they looked good!
  11. I received my set a few days ago. Thanks to MMMV for my very first Street Fighter 'mates!
  12. I just checked AFX on the shipping for one case of modern. To my zip (52241), their site says UPS Ground is not available, but UPS 2nd Day Air is for a hefty $23.10. I'll stick with my Stuckakid preorder, thank you very much!
  13. I got a black 2GB iPod Nano when they first came out. Wish I had gotten it in white, 'cause I'm tired of the black, but it works great! I also have the Nike add-on and it has done wonders for motivating me to get back into running. Now I want one of the new aluminum-encased red Nanos (always want the next new thing...) but I've told myself to wait another year. By then, something will be out that's cooler and/or cheaper.
  14. Man, that is a reality check. Makes me glad that one of the great things about collecting Minimates is that they take up so little space!
  15. Here's a quick dose of catharsis: Enjoy, TMBG fans!
  16. I check Digg.com every day, and I digg the stories I like. But I usually only read the first page, maybe the second. A story has to be dugg a lot to make it to the top. Still, if you post a link here or something like that, I'll digg anything related to minimates!
  17. The Clash, The Cars, Neko Case, New Pornographers, Wilco, Calexico, Moby, Foo Fighters, Elvis - Aloha From Hawaii, and miscellaneous one-hit wonders. Lately I've found myself listening to podcasts way more than music, even when working out. I listen to podcasts on BSG, Lost, Harry Potter, geology, news, history, technology, and on and on....
  18. Alright, here's my entry! I've provided links for the three different sizes: http://nameitjad.com/miscimages/SBeanBSG800x600.jpg http://nameitjad.com/miscimages/SBeanBSG1024x768.jpg http://nameitjad.com/miscimages/SBeanBSG1280x800.jpg When making a wallpaper, I try to include a fair amount of open space for icons to swim around in. Enjoy!
  19. Thanks very much for the offer, CS, but I'm going to pass. I currently collect only Star Wars autographs (through the mail), and I'm afraid opening the door on BSG autos would put too much collectin' on my plate! I notice that Aaron does a lot of conventions, so I'm confident someday I'll meet him and get a picture with him! Let us know how your trip goes!
  20. I'd like to go, if I lived anywhere near there. I'd mainly be going to meet Aaron Douglas, plus it would be cool to see Lou Ferrigno. Have a good time, CS!
  21. I'd love to see all the Classic characters in 2" form, both in Original Series & Movie uniforms! Plus TNG, I'm in for them, too.
  22. Thanks JL, these will be my very first Street Fighter 'mates!
  23. Well, I just went in for a case. I'm betting I can sell/trade off my extras quite easily!
  24. Are you man enough to fight me! (I just barely got in with enough posts!)
