  1. Anything they end up doing with Otto is going to be far less disappointing to me than most other villain characters that writers have redeemed. I love seeing it but many of the times it's been genuinely earned, it was backpedaled on later. Sandman comes to mind as an early example but my heart broke a little when Constrictor and Taskmaster got to points where they could at least be trying to be better than what they were, only to have that paved over later. At least there were reasons for them to do so, which is more than the weird ongoing saga of Sandman and his never actually good hidden persona. Every time Zemo appears now I'm afraid they're going to make him into pure evil after Fabian Niecieza spent the better part of a decade taking him full circle past being a villain into a unique anti-hero type, something I loved even though Genis-Vell, a character I really liked, was a casualty in the process. Hard to believe the bad guy of 'Under Siege' could be worked into making sense as something of a hero but they pulled it off. For me anyway. I don't think Otto's going to end up being a good guy, even in the Zemo sense, but it's fun to see them try. As a lifelong Spidey fan who walked off the books when 'Chapter One' was happening, the craziness of Superior brought me back full time instead of just keeping tabs on things. I hadn't bought a Spider-Man monthly book in over a decade by that point. The upswing for the people who miss Peter is that they're going to get a TON of him when he has to explain the past few weeks/months/whatever in Marvel time that Ock was in control. I admire Slott's ambition as the book does something huge to the status quo with basically every issue.
  2. I've been enjoying the book quite a bit and they've done some work in addressing how Peter's behavior is different, though I think only Black Widow, Thor, Wolverine and Cap have really said anything about it. Natasha thinks it's because he's feeling guilty over the death of Silver Sable back in Ends of the Earth, Wolverine has, of late, had a majorly antagonistic relationship with him anyway, and Cap has been kind of been shown up by Peter/Ock the two instances I remember it coming up. I can't really remember if Thor thought much about it, other than "whatta jerk". That's all stuff in Superior though. There was a moment in Avengers where Peter ate some of Cannonball's food from the fridge; Sam took it to Tony but it ended up with Peter swinging away and Tony not thinking much about it. Recent stuff at Marvel has kind of rewritten how characters look at Spidey in the grand scheme of things, and though I don't always like it (a moment in an otherwise excellent issue of ASM teaming Peter up with the Avengers Academy had Hank Pym say "you're the example we teach them NOT to be like") it has been... semi-consistent I guess. Peter used to have a ton of respect for Captain America, but recent stories with them have been based around a kind of Odd Couple old fart/young whippersnapper dynamic. I can't really see the pre-New Avengers #1 era Peter ever having been annoyed by Cap but they seem to go in and out of it. Marvel editorial has been a little looser in the character's histories of late, the most dramatic example I can think of being Hawkeye's change from being a boisterous and competitive loudmouth with plenty of talent to a sadsack on the down and out in Fraction's Hawkeye. It's been more about staying true to the individual writer's take on a character in other words. So for now, I think Ock's going to toe the line; I imagine a possible endgame being most of New York's major heroes teaming up to take him down at the Raft when the facade is uncovered, but for now he's going to keep ahead of them in terms of effectiveness and legal maneuvering. I don't know if the government sanctions the Avengers anymore (because who can keep track of all 7 teams or whatever) but Spidey's at least go the approval of the mayor of NYC. I'm loving how drastic Superior can get, even in the space of one issue, and I hope Slott gets to tell the whole story he wants; the only things I haven't been totally into so far is the bizarrely mute impact of the Massacre issue (that is to say, the next issue starts up without really showing a reaction to it from anyone; surely MJ would be FREAKING OUT) and how the Raft story with Smythe could have been an issue shorter. When Peter's back I'll be thrilled but it's fun to see Ock, and Slott as a writer, play with such an outrageous set of circumstances.
  3. After scarce supplies of the past few waves, these hit my TRU a few week ago... and are already on clearance somehow. Admittedly they're only $.50 off but I find it unusual for such a new product to have a price reduction; there were still G.I. Joes from 2010 hanging around a few weeks ago, with the benefit of the new pricing to keep poor Arctic Destro on the shelves forever... But this is a great wave, even Silver Surfer who DST keeps finding cool ways to keep fresh. Love the extra effect parts, though I've currently skipped out on the Fear Itself set. I actually promptly lost the extra torso piece for Ben Grimm so I now have two of that Surfer. It's gone up to the great toy heaven in the sky that contains the single bullet Pursuit of Cobra Low-Light included If anyone needs help with these still, we've got plenty; I'd love to give them a good home. My TRU's been good, not great, about most minimate stuff but these hit here pretty hard. After not seeing TWD wave 2, getting SFxTekken wave 1 5 months after everyone else, and never seeing things like KITT, it's always in doubt what's going to end up appearing around here.
  4. I got this set on Wednesday, and two days later I'm still messing around with it! Excellent work with nary a QC problem in sight! What arms are these again? I don't have it, thus... no package to view. I'll admit that my packaging is also long gone, but are they the ones she's sporting here? I think "Agent" Venom is probably the standout of the set for me. I haven't read any of the comic (and kind of get the impression I wouldn't really dig it too much) but Tony Moore designed a look that translates really well into toy form. The mystery of what color Flash's hair is supposed to be still mystifies me, as I have a long-entrenched impression of it being red. At least, that's how I remember it looking in old comics, though a quick Google image search reveals that it kind of waffles between being red and blonde. Sites list it as "reddish-blonde" so there ya go. The armored chest cap is really neat and so clean looking; the emblem just looks great in a way that seemed missing from the Gargan iteration of Venom. Venom Unleashed is also great, as we have a version that can stand next to the new Juggernaut, Rhino, etc... without looking shrimpy. The two heads are also pretty marvelous, though I may end up kidnapping a standard Venom head from someone else. Maybe. The semi-bulked up version is great as well and doesn't feel like a retread at all. Much appreciated are the two different Eddie Brock heads and the hairpieces. I like She-Venom alright. She's an easy candidate for most obscure minimate of the year, though the cover of Sinner Takes All #3 is pretty well remembered. Love the little "collar" attachment she has; in fact, I wish I had more of them, to give one to any unmasked Venom I have. I do wish she had a head minus the black ooze though, as I'm one of those insane people who'd like to make a standard version of Anne Weying. Heck, if they'd included her glasses look, I might have gotten another to make a Debbie Whitman with! Overall, a great pack. I haven't had the chance to pick up either Alpha Flight set, or any of the other con exclusives yet, but this one appearing at my LCS proved too much to resist. I can't wait to get the Hulk set soon, and see what Through the Ages box might appear after that!
  5. Instant way to make this Doc a little different: give him the "superhero" mask he wore for a time! Other possibilities are a blue cape, to mimic the look from his early appearances, or blue leggings, to help carry forth the eternal conflict of "blue vs. comic book black"! Great set Zach and thanks for the tease on here! I arrived a little late to notice but it's that kind of effort that makes this board a great place to be. I'm most excited for Morbius but a full-on 70's style Blade gives me hope we can see a Hypno Hustler someday. Morbius' collar also looks like it could go with another pass at Iron Fist's original v-neck look!
  6. Is that Dormammu/Trish set rare? My local comic shops still have lots of them. Dies anyone need TRU Series 3 of the Marvel vs. Capcom Minimates? My local TRU just got some in. I know it was the shortpack of that wave, I had more trouble finding the Storm and Jill Valentine set. It wasn't 'rare' in any real sense other than the shortpacking; some LCS's didn't order the MvC3 waves around here so they were relatively scarce for a little while. More of a distribution thing really, like how my TRU is swimming in wave 13 and ASM exclusives but received maybe 3 cases of Avengers movie and no sign of 14 for the foreseeable future.
  7. That's the problem I've been having with mine so far; she just doesn't want to stay together at all. Still, I think the TRU figures in this wave might be the best 'mates we've gotten in the whole lineup! MODOK and Amaterasu are so nice I'm surprised DST let them go as exclusives, and the new modern Thor looks great. I wasn't really expecting to like the new Doom so much but he's pretty impressive, even managing to outdo Wesker, who was my most anticipated 'mate in the whole line. Something about Albert's hair looks odd though I could just be channeling a little disappointment into that instead of copping to wanting him to have had more guns. Love the shininess of his coat though I wish we had a non-flared option for him; looks great if he's running though! My Akuma has the two left feet issue but it doesn't bug me nearly as much as I thought it would. Interesting he got toe details when Ryu didn't! Either way, his doubled feet don't bother me nearly as much as the two right feet my Sentinel had; poor guy couldn't even stand up and I actually had to return him. Always feel bad doing that. Fortunately, this wave seems to have hit very heavily in my area and there's been plenty for all who want them! One TRU in a nearby city probably had 6 of each pack from wave 3, giving everyone a number to pick through. No LCS around here seems to have ordered this wave so I may head to other cities to pursue She Hulk & friends. Apparently the Felicia/X-23 pack is highly desired from what I can tell but I don't think they'll be as hard to get ahold of as Dormammu/Trish was. So far, this wave has been a beautiful capper to a great little subline. I love that we're getting more Capcom characters in the XTekken series and almost every Marvel figure was a grand slam. I even like the deceptively basic looking Spidey, even if I thought his eyes were kind of funny. I hope Capcom fastlanes a MvC4 so we can take another turn at some crazy characters!
  8. I second this. As a new reader, I've only gotten past 50 or so issues. After all the depressing stuff that happened up to that point, I had to take a break and read something uplifting, so I read Preacher. Now I have to get back to WD to catch up, and I've been avoiding potential spoilers up to this point. I love that Preacher is the uplifting book in this case.
  9. Is Peter's backpack removable? I just got him and I can't tell if the strap is permanently attached or just stuck through paint. I have no doubt it can be removed, I'm just worried about what sort of markings may be left over, if any. Side note: Peter's head with the glasses makes for a pretty good Jasper Sitwell on the SHIELD agent body!
  10. Wow, that's about 3 different kinds of weird in one package!
  11. AFX has a preorder for the 2nd series up with a small image. Lori's shown but isn't mentioned in the solicit, whereas Michonne's mentioned but unseen. Andrea's in there with Amy as the variant which is pretty genius. Can't wait to see what the rest of this assortment's going to look like, though if Lori, Michonne, and Andrea are all in, kudos on a solid wave of female characters!
  12. While that black costume is cool and I would be totally okay with that, allow me to point out that much more recent mini mates have also lacked any leg detail whatsoever. Yeah, it's annoying, but it hasn't gone away. Yikes, I had never noticed before! You my friend have made one killer case, though it's come at the cost of reducing my fondness for the otherwise great 'Best of' Spidey Oh well, guess that's just how it is then. The look the old one has is the closest there is to a 'definitive' one so we're probably cool on Firestars for now. Anyone picking up the Expendables pack in anticipation of arming Agent Venom out the wazoo? Punisher and him will definitely have no lack of gear now!
  13. Well, they just announced Marvel vs. Capcom: Origins for Xbox Live Arcade and PSN, which uses the roster of the first two MvC games. Maybe there's hope to open that door and maybe get us Shuma-Gorath, Captain Commando, Mega Man, and some others?
  14. That's about the limit they could go with on a new version of that look; I will cop to how the lack of detail on her legs being my main problem with her, besides... this. Always seemed like an old flub to me though it could stem from there being versions of her costume that have no open collar and that getting confused somehow on the way to production. Firestar's a character that's had a ridiculous number of minor changes to her costume whether it's the boots, gloves, mask, or the amount of skin shown and it kind of slips by because they're so minor. I'm not sure if that's a commentary on the skill of a subtle alteration or how Firestar isn't really high on the Marvel Q ratings but she's never had a terrible costume either. The 90's look isn't even really bad despite some cliche elements of the era (like the jacket). Perez made it look great for the time he drew it in Avengers V.3 before giving her this number Which is yet another look with a minor variation; in this case, he gave her an alteration where the black space from the 'fire' in the suit's center opened up to show skin.
  15. No joke, huh? Awesome! Churchill's one of the best Turner imitators, which is probably why he did so much work on Batman/Superman. Makes perfect sense! Churchill's 'Marineman' series at Image showed off that he was a lot more versatile than just aping someone else's style. Really cartoony and drastically different looking stuff in that book. Also, thanks for reminding about Austen, I'd kind of forgotten why I drifted away from X-books so drastically after New X-men wrapped up; I definitely remember now!
  16. I just never understood why Logan claws were out. Were they afraid we wouldn't know who it was without them? I'm guessing it made for a more dynamic look to the cover which would translate to it demanding slightly more as a piece of original art. Is that Michael Turner? I've read all of New X-men but I don't really remember where that cover was used in it. Maybe before 'Murder at the Mansion'? And depending on which versions of the characters you want, and the fashion in which you prefer your 'mates, the 'Best of' wave isn't a bad option as Wookiefodder mentioned. The Spidey is basically what you'd get from buying the Classic Punisher TRU set (excluding the nice Peter Parker head he includes) but that Green Goblin is one of the best options for that character and different enough from the old Villains boxset to earn a look (I have one of them serve as Norman and the other as Harry in my collection). I don't have the Wolvy/Sabretooth set but Thor/Cap and Iron Man/Thing are all high quality rereleases even if they risk driving some of us crazy with their tiny, tiny tweaks. I found all three of those sets at C2E2 this year for $5 a piece and now only regret not snatching up Wolverine and Sabretooth. Since you're already looking at the wave 44/Kang set Cap, I'd also side on the Stormbringer set recommendation if you aren't in the mood for the more dynamic cape of the Thor from that wave/set. You get Beta Ray Bill as well as great versions of Loki and Sif in the bargain. Hawkeye just got his best version yet/ever in the Disney store sets and I don't doubt we'll be seeing the AvX poll version of Scarlet Witch somehow. You can still find the old one, packed with Quicksilver, if you look hard enough. Black Widow's movie 'mates look fine though you could just put her accessories, head, and (maybe) hair on a C3 Catwoman for a slightly more comic accurate take. My favorite Hulk is still the Defenders one, though I can't quite say why. I'm guessing it's the expression. That set has also has the perfect Dr. Strange in it, but it commands a pretty penny these days. If you're looking for a uniform looking X-team, you can't go wrong with what Geohound has pictured; while I think at least 50% of why those looks are so fondly remembered is because they're the ones from the 90's cartoon, they're also popular enough that people will know what you're talking about it if you ask at a dealer's booth. BTW, I'd also love to complete the New X-men; heck, I wouldn't care if they started over since it's been so long. I love that run all the way up to 'Here comes Tomorrow' which, while having an awesome title and being full of tons of crazy ideas, was a little too out there for me somehow.
  17. in the 616 continuity, Carnage is the offspring of Venom, bonding to sociopath Cletus Kassady Yeah, the symbiote came to break Eddie out of Ryker's Island (I think everyone believed the symbiote was destroyed when Peter fought Venom on that desert isle though I may be forgetting an appearance somewhere) and left behind some inky looking gunk on the broken bars that turned out to be his "spawn" (which was how Carnage was described as for a long time: "the spawn of Venom"). Said gunk joined up with Eddie's cellmate, serial killer Cletus Kasady, and became Carnage. This partially opened the door for Marvel to let Venom become more of an anti-hero, which is sort of what the symbiote has been used for ever since, even with Eddie out of the picture. Carnage's symbiote is a weird thing as I'm not sure if it's still around as a separate consciousness; since it lives in his blood, they're rarely apart but I suppose it's possible that's been straightened out in a story I haven't read. The symbiote has "died" more than Venom's has but the blood thing's been established all the way back in the Amazing Spider-Man annual that served as the 3rd actual story with him. Cletus Kasady is still Carnage, even after being flown into space and ripped in half by the Sentry (as part of that character's huge oversell), but he doesn't really talk to his "other half" the way Eddie Brock would with the Venom symbiote. Carnage survived said mangling through some complicated means that I haven't actually read but seemed goofy when I flipped through his titular mini-series a few years back but he seemingly has only appeared in that and its follow-up Carnage U.S.A.. Character-wise, Carnage is different from Venom in that Kasady is far more evil and infinitely less sympathetic. Venom's huge popularity in the early 90's made Marvel want to use him more but past badguy solo titles, like The Joker book in the 70's and Deathstroke: the Terminator in the 90's, can be hard to work with; since they starred villains as the protagonists, it was hard to make compelling stories without conflicting with the character's baseline traits, nerfing them into less important threats (Deathstroke's book basically had every issue end with him being defeated), avoiding what readers wanted to see (The Joker not encountering Batman in his book), while also risking overexposure. There's also the idea that your respective villain's major opponent would look incompetent what with a major enemy running around killing people while they're nowhere to be seen. Marvel's solution to that was to emphasize Venom's bizarre code of honor relating to "innocents" to where he was more functional as a protagonist; in other words, he'd still try and kill Spider-Man but if an old lady was about to be hit by a bus, he'd swoop down to grab her as Eddie/the symbiote's beef was with Peter and Peter alone. They also moved him to San Francisco for awhile with Spidey appearing long enough to say he'd allow it, providing that Venom wouldn't be killing any of the other bad guys he encountered. To set that up, David Michelinie created Carnage who had all the unique threats that Venom offered (doesn't set off spider-sense, camo mode, incredibly strong, visually similar to an evil Spidey) with none of the moral setbacks, with the bonus being that Venom and Peter would have to team up. There's some BTS comments about how Michilinie planned on killing Eddie Brock at one point, with Carnage stemming from that, but the above is what they went with. Carnage appears way less than Venom but, at one point, he was close to equal in popularity (maybe even exceeding Venom's at the time). He basically had his introductory story, the huge 14-part Maximum Carnage crossover, that Annual appearance, some one-shots and cameos, the time he attacked Ben Reilly (which we got as the Spider-Carnage minimate!)and then when the symbiote overwhelmed the Silver Surfer. After that, Eddie/Venom reabsorbed the symbiote for keeps (no clue why he didn't do that before) and then Cletus found another symbiote in Web-Spinners in one of that title's lesser storyarcs. After that it's mostly cameos until Sentry killed him and then those mini-series once he got better. Eddie's symbiote is currently held by the government, after some time hanging out with Mac Gargan as both a new Venom and the Dark Avengers Spider-Man, where they gave it to Flash Thompson for use in what amounts to secret agent-type work. Carnage had that second mini-series but he'll be back in... Minimum Carnage!! Which is a hilarious name/sight gag. Hope that helped you out as much as it did me; most of that came from old memories while relaxing from real work. Also, I'm slightly ashamed for forgetting we already have a Firestar minimate, though no one called me on it. *whew*. Anyway, she probably could use an update which could be finangled with some extra parts to make her 90's look with the jacket and big goggles that she had in those issues. Personally, I like the George Perez Avengers V.3 look but I'm way way off topic as it is. I haven't read any of the current Venom book but I do like Tony Moore's costume design for it a lot. I'm really thrilled with how this set looks, especially since it has a truly outrageous sculpted tongue like how Erik Larsen used to draw Venom. I think there's something about how kept trying to see how crazy he could make it look though maybe someone was making a joke about the famous Wally Wood Powergirl story. I adore TTA sets so I hope both this and Hulk are big hits so we can get some more next year
  18. I guess they could have called it 'Symbiotes through the ages' but that doesn't really have the same ring to it... She-Venom is Eddie's ex-wife, Anne Weying, who wore the symbiote in one of his many 90's mini-series (I think it was 'Sinner takes all'). It's a look (and I hope character as it'd be great to have a non-symbiote Anne head or parts)that we probably wouldn't get anywhere else as it is way out there (though Toy Biz did make a figure of it back in the day) and, alongside the surprisingly smart looking Tony Moore Venom redesign, she's what sold me on the set. I'm weird though. Carnage holds up surprisingly well with modern releases though that's probably why he's so expensive now; since 90's crossover extravaganzas seem to be getting a nostalgia kick recently, maybe a new Cletus could make it in a Maximum Carnage 4-pack with Shriek, the Doppelganger, and Demo-Goblin? Heck, that event was such a catch-all of random characters, you could squeeze Morbius and Deathlok in there somehow alongside Carrion and Firestar. The issue with Compound Hulk did have them fused together, I think by the Impossible Man; it was in Jeff Parker's run, I remember that much for sure.
  19. As much as I liked the SDCC AvX set, I'm not really fond of this one. It's great that the designs are extremely recent but I don't really like any of them, particularly that Iron Man armor which can't even be drawn consistently between different books. I don't even like the Protector, either the character or the costume, so I've got no dog in this fight outside of Wanda. I'd just as soon they put Noh-Var and Scarlet Witch in a 2 pack since Iron Man's going to make it in and I don't want to split up the 3 Phoenix-ified characters. I don't hate the designs entirely but the IM suit is probably already trashed (or will be soon) and I don't expect the Phoenix Force characters to keep their look past the series itself. I'm probably letting my mixed feelings on the series itself influence my opinion here but it's not been a great ride so far especially since they revived Mar-Vell in one of the laziest ways possible. Scarlet Witch looks good and Protector looks about as cool as you can make that outfit appear but I'm still a little crestfallen.
  20. Whoa, this ended up being a more difficult choice than I was originally anticipating. The Nova Corps came out of nowhere and got one of my votes right off the bat. The other choice, I spent some time considering, even though there's obviously only going to be one of these choices in the wave. I was really torn between the Stepford Cuckoos and the Mindless Ones as the former seems like it should have already happened and the latter isn't likely to register again anytime soon. Zach, you also put in the one version of Multiple Man that would give me pause in considering it, as it sort of ends up being all by its lonesome as far as theming is concerned; it doesn't hurt that I just like the Madrox character in general. I'd love the Dire Wraiths too but the lack of Rom in any form, from TPB reprints to a ML, makes them a little less alluring on top of how a Cosmic choice was already in play. HAMMER Agents are a fun and unexpected choice too while the Warwolves are so surprising it's hard not to vote for them. Excellent choices all around as I was expecting to just pick the Mandroids and whatever struck my fancy first. Instead, I skipped the Mandroids entirely and ended up picking the Mindless Ones since Dr. Strange stuff is a little underrepresented. Besides, maybe some of their parts can be used for the Mad Thinker's Awesome Android (with accessories to make Awesome Andy)! Is there really a 5th week? Maybe it's a poll between the top 2 of each category and we pick from 1 from 4 categories or something.
  21. I agree. I suppose actual intent doesn't always come across in a quickly written messageboard post especially since I've always found emoticons a little awkward. I'm glad you've got your opinion Tenime but as someone without a particular decade preference (though I am fond of a lot of early 80's Spider-Man and a lot of late 90's Avengers blah blah blah forever) I feel for you being such a fan of 90's X-stuff as you probably have to be very defensive of them, likely at places less friendly then here. I don't think the 90's were as bad an era as the rap is for them, as even stuff like the Clone Saga has a few good stories inside of an unwieldly mess of out-of-character behavior, but that period will always be controversial for a number of reasons. I did read an X-Force comic or two when I was a kid; it was when the book crossed over into just plain Spider-Man and the Juggernaut knocked down the World Trade Center by accident. Funny how things age
  22. Whoa now, let's not say anything we can't take back! I found these yesterday but only picked up the X characters. I'm less interested in them but there were fewer available and hey... all new characters. I haven't read enough X-force to really weigh in on the quality of the stories, but even as a kid I never liked Liefeld's art as I thought it was too "busy". Heck, I never liked Jim Lee's art until around Hush; if there was one positive thing to say about that story, it's definitely that Lee decided to show off why people liked his stuff in the first place. That said, I think these characters all turned out great. Boom Boom's costume isn't the most well conceived look but I'd call it "garish" before "fugly". It's definitely loud and looks more like something you'd see in a music video than it does a superhero outfit but it's unique and is a character I'd think was unlikely to ever see release. Plus her shoulderpads and belt being connected by the pouch tampo on her chest is a really clever bit of design. Rictor's less exciting from a visual standpoint but it's neat to have one of the least likely to be made X-team members come out. Plus, his hair's cool and the number of parts we see made here that have limited future usage really give hope to some of the more difficult to produce minimates. Dani and Magma are great too though Dani's face looks a little small on her head block. I get that they were trying to replicate the very thin face the character was usually shown with back in NM and as a result, I also recognize it could just be my imagination telling me the tampo is small. The optional belts are a nice touch and I dig her spear too! Magma turned out wonderfully as well; she might be my favorite clear minimate that isn't one of the promo freebies. I guess this officially makes Cypher as the only New Mutant to not have an officially official mate, though I think most of us have QC'ed one by now anyway. As much as I like these though, I think I'll hold the line at the 15 or so different outfits each character apparently wore in X-Force. That's entering X-Factor territory where I'd probably pass on the different variations Cyke and the gang wore in there. I'm good where we're at for most of them, especially since it seemed most characters changed costumes every 3rd issue in the 90's, though I think any version of Syrin would be nice and packing her with Warpath/Thunderbird would be a sharp possibility in the future. I'd also like a standard modern-ish Cable though I'm in no rush by now. For the people who've said these make great toys, I have to wonder if that isn't what Marvel/Liefeld and Capullo had in mind when designing them sometimes. The New Mutants era is kind of when I stopped reading X-men comics, as the first volumes of Essential X-men started coming out when I was in grade/middle school, but there's plenty of room for whatever. You can't deny Boom Boom stands out and I already got one of my impossible minimates this year in the form of Jean DeWolff. I won't begrudge someone else taking a turn at the wheel, especially if Zemo makes it in from the Fan poll right now.
  23. Avengers Academy! Especially since the book has kind of become the catchall place for any young Marvel character without a book. Runaways, True Believers, Initiative, even Young Allies all have members there (plus Sentinel). Basically, if you were someone created/reappeared as part of the Tsunami line or had a mini in MarvelNext, you're good to go. The Young Avengers are probably the only well-known group of characters in that wheelhouse who've yet to appear and they don't do major guest spots. I'd love to see the main group of kids followed by Tigra, Justice, Speedball, and Jocasta. The best part is the initial group is only 6 members so you've got your four figure boxset and complimentary TRU 2-pack in the bag. Put Tigra and modern Hawkeye in that TRU wave and you've got a wave with 2 contemporary characters, an A/B list anchor and a fan demanded character. I'll also side on the Masters 4.0 as a team that'd make for an amazing release and I'd love to see the Squadron Supreme/Sinister and the Great Lakes Avengers. Modern X-Factor would be a hoot as well since it's got plenty of characters who'd otherwise be forgotten going around in it. I'm hoping the Guardians of the Galaxy movie that's apparently being worked on will make Starlord and friends visible enough to get some love in the future too. I could see all of these happening but if I was to pick something that I really don't think would ever make it out, I agree with Aethyr and would be thrilled to see Little Loki and Leah from Journey into Mystery; the issue of them being kids comes up but I'm sure DST could work around it somehow. I definitely wouldn't protest if they were split up in packs with other Asgardians but if Thori, the little hellhound, could be included, all the better.
  24. That's an awesome point about the Iguana as I don't think a normal version's coming anytime soon. Movie Lizard could also stand-in for the 90's era non-Connors version from the Spider-Man '95 "super specials"; it was subject to a bizarre retcon (turned out it was grown from a chunk of normal Lizard's tail) but he'd make a good sub since I don't think anyone's really clamoring for that version. I've got - Destroyer - General Ross - Betty Ross - XMO Emma doubling as Sharon after a headswap - SM3 Gwen Stacy - SM3 Mary Jane - Dum Dum's head on the SHIELD body - Jigsaw - War Zone Punisher - Frank Castle (with a new hairpiece) - WZ Mob Thug - 1 or 2 of the various Hydra Soldiers from Cap but with generic unmasked heads Odin's in there now but he's going to move when the Worthy set comes out. I'll probably find a hairpiece for him then I plan on adding: - Captain Stacy (though not as Captain Stacy; I'm looking at a QC for him but movie version is just a regular Police Captain for now) - Dr. Connors (after a headswap) - Uncle Ben (after a headswap) ASM Gwen's fate is up in the air but I'm thinking of using her ponytail piece for a Debbie Whitman QC. Maybe using Janine's head but I don't think it's a perfect match quite yet.
  25. I feel very much the same. There's so many fun, colorful villains in the MU, and it's a shame we haven't seen more of them as Minimates (or any toy line, really). We've gotten a few (Shocker, Spymaster, Stilt-Man... apparently, they only have the S volume of the Marvel Handbook at the DST offices ), but not enough. And, knowing that Zach's also a big fan of these kinds of villains, I was surprised that we didn't see more in the poll. I went by the "most wanted" poll to start with, but then I padded it out with other major villains. It just seemed like there were so many unmade big guys, and it was hard to pick C-listers that had a sizable fan base. But I do regret not putting Orca, Ghost, Graviton, Master Pandemonium or Whirlwind on there INSTEAD of Abomination/Apocalypse. I should have balanced it more. My bad. Whoa, Master Pandemonium? That'd be nuttyto see though I'd feel guilty not voting for him as there's simply no other way he'd make it in even if I don't feel strongly about the character. The others I can see happening (especially since IM 3 is next summer and a comic themed wave could fit most of these guys) but I think MP is too out there to cut it and would have drawn my attention but not my passion. BTW, if Ghost is considered for a future wave, I hope he's the variant; I have no idea what most people prefer but I like the classic look myself.
