  1. Thanks Hellpop, I wish they had manged to fit her and a few others into the Trek line.
  2. Taking a break form comics for a bit, redoing some older designs again. This time Seven of Nine, one of my favourite Star Trek characters, stuck with a flat image as opposed to the older, shiny one. Did both her first catsuit, then one from later on. I think he hair is much better this time round, though the face doesn't seem as good even though I didn't really change anything :S Feedback and suggestions for more designs is always welcome.
  3. I don't know if this will be of any use to anyone, but this is the template I use for my designs, which is the same as the one used on AA's control art.
  4. Just the pen tool and lots of layers in photoshop. I've been trying to work out a Klingon hairpiece for a while, so I might give that a shot. Quark was the trader dude right, he really got on my nerves on the show
  5. *update: coloured image added to line art post above* Thanks for the nice words people. Here he is all coloured, I left off the body shading I usually add as it just over did the design too much. Hellpop, that doesn't surprise me too much, his costume seems to change every other time he turns up! Who do yu want to see me tackle next?
  6. Challenge complete, as suggested by Hellpop, I present to you Jack of Hearts. I can imagine an official mate wouldn't be this detailed, as most of it wouldn't show up on a 2" mate, but I went all out on the control art... Coloured image to follow soon, feedback and further design suggestions welcomed *update 13/12/11 - coloured image added*
  7. I was just wandering if anyone has a solution or alternative to the stiff skirt peieces on minimates? Mainly becasue I would like to have a Lt Uhura who can actually sit at her station on the bridge. I was thinking maybe a trimmed down balloon slipped over the crotch piece, or the skirt template from the minimate factory cut out of one. This way it would fit the waist but not to be tight as to hinder the legs. Would this work?
  8. Thank you both, I'm inclined to agree, much like faces, too much detail sort of ruins things. I would love a Jocasta mate, but will have to wait on an official one as my sculpting abilities aren't up to much. I have no idea how I would get all that detail on to a Jack of Hearts mate, I'll have to do a few more before I try him...
  9. *Added coloured images to line art post on previous page* Coloured Jocasta like I did Enchantress, one with plain, flat colour and another with an atempt at adding some shine to her. I think I prefer the flat colour, but maybe with a pearlescent plastic used so she shines and sparkles a bit. You can see the uncoloured line art on page 2. Let me know which one you think works best.
  10. I love all the Trek mates, especially all the Klingons. I've been wanting to do something similar for a while, maybe be borrowing some of those recipes.
  11. Doomsy is just crying out for some kind of web comic! The repaint of the boat looks pretty cute too, especially the sail.
  12. *updated 08/12/11 - coloured image added* Coloured Morbius, and I have to say I think he looks better now, well, I'm happy enough that I won't have to go back and tweak him anymore. Due to the lack of reference images available to me, I wasn't sure what collor the back of his collar was, blue or red. As you can see I went with blue, what do you guys think?
  13. Thanks for all the kind words people. Finished off another piece of control art today, which along with Jocasta I will go back and colour at some point. Mobius. Not too thrilled with how the hair came out, or the face really, however google didn't offer too much reference images. May try and improve on him at a later date. As always, feedback is welcomed, as are further sugestions for more designs. *updated 08/12/11 - coloured image added*
  14. Thanks. Just photoshop, everything is drawn with the pen tool then coloured using channels.
  15. Bless you kind sir, that should be very helpful.
  16. I might have a look for them cheaply online or wait for the paperback. I was also thinking they would be ideal for customs.
  17. Ugh, I was afraid of that, I can see that costing me a pretty penny
  18. I was wondering if anyone can clear this up for me. Does each new volume of Official Handbook Of The Marvel Universe just update he previous one by adding new characters and additional stuff to the old ones or is it only the newer characters? If it is the latter would that mean you have to buy all the volumes to get all the characters? I'm totally confused about this.
  19. Thank you for the kind words MiniFiend! I see what you mean about the line art, though if I where adding my own colours I think I would need a little more detail, such as highlights and shadows drawn on. Consider you vote counted, I'm working on Wizard right now, but will try Morbius when I'm done/give up
  20. After doing Storm and Enchantress I decided my older designs weren't really up to scratch, so I'm revisiting them, starting with Jocasta. The original can be seen here Also I want to try and create some decals, so I'm now trying to draw all the different sides of the mates, as seen in Art Asylum's control art. Haven't coloured her yet, what do you guys think? Feedback, as always, is welcome. And if you want to save me the time and create the decals, that would be just dandy *updated with coloured images 09/12/11*
  21. Your face decal has blown my mind, it's crazy detailed! Haven't been following X-Sanction, but the costume is much better than his usual one, diggin' the Halo chest piece.
  22. Ah ok, thats cool, I'm using photoshop, so I'll follow your advice.
  23. Hey Luke, Out of interest is there a set size or resolution your decal templates need to be printed at so that they print the correct size for the minimates?
  24. Please feel free to, I think Scarlet Witch's hairpeace would be a good start for Enchantress too. I find the first one a bit flat and dull personally. Any villians in particular? Might try a male character for a change.
