  1. I have read most of this thread with the most incredulous look on my face. Groundhog, no-one in their right mind would expect, nay, demand, that something is shipped out immediately after payment. They are being totally unreasonable, and kicking up a fuss without a leg to stand on. Your email was polite and explained the circumstances, which is actually more than they deserved.
  2. It's a pretty good idea for an exclusive, as it's completely non-essential but still manages to be quite an iconic look, as the "We're Ready To Believe You!"scene is popular. I don't like the fact Dana didn't get new hair though, and I'm kinda burned out on GB stuff so it's an easy pass. And I would hate to see us get loads of "unnecessary" characters and never get GB1 Janine. That would suck.
  3. I'm sure DST are are trying to fit an Ironette into the lineup even as we speak. As TM2 says, they would make an ideal exclusive!
  4. I had a few spoilers for this film from the Minimates and was trying very hard not to get my hopes up too high for how good this film would be, especially as Iron Man was a nice surprise that kinda came out of nowhere with no real expectations to shock everyone with how good it was. And I thought Iron Man 2 was superb. I love the dialogue in it. It feels like RDJ improvises every scene he's in cos the dialogue is so snappy. But I have to admit, in a film about powered up mech suits, armoured drones and a guy with energy whips, it was that was my favourite scene. She was so badass in that bit, it made me want her (er, her Minimate ) so bad
  5. I see what they were going for now, and it's OK. Not one for hardcore collectors, I'd wager.
  6. I love this type of question because it always produces interesting debate. As Minimates, the toys were more at the DC end than the Marvel end. They had a lot of accessories and unique, sculpted pieces. The likenesses, whilst not as good as later licenses, were pretty good. The packs had some great bad guys in, specifically the Orcs. They were the true standouts of the line. Playability was high. Who doesn't want to see Aragorn and the rest face off against a horde of Orcs? But the scale, oh the scale. Human sized LOTR Minimates were 2.5 inches, and that's what killed it in my opinion. They needed to keep the default human size as 2", go smaller for the hobbits, perhaps use the 2.5" scale for the Orcs. I think the question is, would I pick up a new LOTR line based on 2", with maybe the Hobbits using the Fathers Day child size. And the answer is yes, yes I would buy it all again in a heartbeat. They should definitely try for the Hobbit license. Get some MAX stuff out as well.
  7. If anyone's seen Hot Fuzz, my accent isn't far removed from the West Country accents used by the yokels in that film
  8. Crowe is very much like Sam Worthington in that respect, you can't help but pick up an Aussie twang in almost every film they do. Normally I don't mind, and if he'd just kept his normal accent like he did for Gladiator, well, that would have worked. But to have the voice-coaching and it turn out like Irish, that's just poor.
  9. I saw this last night, as my group of friends still hasn't sorted out when we can all watch Iron Man 2. The important thing, which isn't really mentioned in the trailers, is that this is effectively an origin movie, and he doesn't become what we know as Robin Hood (the outlaw, with his band of men, in Sherwood forest) until the end of the film. As such, it's OK. It's no Gladiator, which it tries so hard to be. Russell Crowe's accent is atrocious, he sounds Irish throughout most of the movie. Ridley should really have picked that up. The battle scenes are pretty good, especially the final battle, but the middle part is very slow. It's 2 and a bit hours long and could definitely have used some tightening up. I'd say it's worth a rental.
  10. I really love that Statue of Liberty, came out really well
  11. I would have put money on Lockjaw being part of an Inhumans box set rather than getting a place in a 2 pack, cos he's a bit of an "out there" choice. Love the Hulkbuster armour, very imposing
  12. It's another boxset based on a current comic storyline. That's gotta be a good thing.
  13. Suspended got my vote, but I can also understand the Pro-Armored lobbying. We need both in the boxset for sure.
  14. Chuck said at the MMMV Chat they were tossing ideas around for the carry case. I honestly didn't think making it from cardboard would be that idea. They must be able to do better than that, it's hardly a durable method of transportation!
  15. Thank you for thinking that this earth-shattering announcement deserved its own thread rather than being part of the Iron Man II Minimates General Discussion Thread. Don't forget to let us know what you had for breakfast on the day you bought them, and also what you were wearing, otherwise we will not have been given the full picture.
  16. They look really good! I think these should do pretty well, especially if they can get TRU to bite.
  17. Yes, please use the quoted thread as it's still pretty recent.
  18. The thing is that AFX got hideously burnt on the Elven Warriors 2-pack for Lord of the Rings. They should have done an Elf with an Orc, instant playability in one set, and with the option of buying more if you want to army build.
  19. I think the Halo stuff looks great from what we've seen so far, but then I was never worried about DST's ability to replicate the Spartan armour. I think how they recreate the Covenant will be crucial. That is, if they bother with them at all.
  20. I don't really troop-build as such. The exceptions are that I will usually buy a dump case of army builders such as BSG, T2 or IM2, mainly cos I like the packaging!
  21. I hope everything goes well Miry. I'm sure your father is in good hands.
  22. Sontarans! Awesome description I always thought Doctor Who Minimates would be a success at the time (2006?) that Underground Toys first mentioned it, as Who was very mainstream and Character Options had had a lot of success with their New Who action figure line, even getting it imported to the States. Now, a few years on, and in the middle of a downturn, perhaps not so much. Character Options didn't have the success with their Classic Who line, Torchwood figures were a non-starter, and there's a lot less merchandise on the shelves. There is a buzz around it again with the latest Doctor and assistant, and the fact it's returned as a full series this year, but they've missed the boat for this upturn. TL;DR version: I would love it, no I don't think it'll happen.
  23. Yeah I spotted that and pushed the helmet down for the later pics.
