  1. I gotta admit, in that "evolution" shot, Gamme Rage Hulk looks superb. It's what I want to see in a Hulk Minimate, but the extreme sculpting will only work for a few really big characters. I think this one come closest to their vision of a big Hulk, and is much better than 90% of their efforts previously.
  2. Sorry, to clarify my earlier point, I know Pirates 4, as well as the trilogy earlier, are huge box office in terms of receipts, but I don't believe that has ever been tranlated into merchendise sales figures. I remember NECA and other manufacturers had POTC figure licenses previously but only Lego (and I think Playmates) picked up POTC 4, and neither set the world alight with sales. Some films seem toyetic and generate licenses but are not commercially successful - see Tron Legacy and Spinmaster, Star Trek/Terminator Salvation by the aforementioned Playmates and Prince of Persia from Lego and McFarlane. So it stands to reason that an unlicensed toyline set up purely to capitalise on the film hoopla will fail, sadly.
  3. I think another thing to remember is that basically these were made to piggy-back off the hype/success of Pirates of the Caribbean 4, and I'm not sure how commercially successful that film has been. No less a company than Lego made sets for the film, but as far as I can tell, those are struggling too, although perhaps for different reasons (in this case, too expensive).
  4. I really think you are on to a winner with that rooftop one, it's incredible!
  5. Lovely strip for the day And great shots to show your setup on the previous strip, I'd missed those.
  6. Nice pics, it certainly is a gorgeous ship. My growing Lego addiction still doesn't permit me to spend that much on one set... yet
  7. Agreed, the rooftop dio looks incredible!
  8. I have to say I wasn't expecting much from this film, it just seemed a bit unnecessary when X1 was an origin story, Wolverine was an origin story and now this film is an origin story! But I was very surprised how it all just seemed to work on screen. Fassbender and McAvoy had real chemistry together and it was good to see them front and centre in the story. The battle at the end helps justify Magneto's "them or us" position for the other films, and Charles comes across as being a bit naive. I do think there is scope for a sequel to re-introduce some of the other characters like Scott, Storm and Jean. Also must mention Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique cos she was absolutely gorgeous It's a sad fact that as I get older they cast younger and younger actresses in these things!
  9. I hadn't seen those pictures, thank you for the good look at the sets and the comparison pics!
  10. Nutshot! Great video Luke, it really sells the concept. Nice to actually get to see you as well
  11. That ship looks really good, they obviously are pushing the boat out on these
  12. That was one thing that LEGO understood with their blind packaging for the collectable minifig series. No figure is 1 per box or anything like that. 100 only is just silly and will actually put off casual collectors.
  13. That's a HUGE deal in terms of visibility for the license!
  14. I'm not locking this Rob cos you have been a huge part of the Multiverse and I am sure there are a lot of people who want to wish you well, myself included.
  15. For a lot of people, the P2 stuff was their introduction to SF Minimates!
  16. My two standouts are Calico Jack and Jonathan Barnet, as Jack reminds me of Captain America with the colouring, and I love the Navy uniform on the latter. Also really interesting to see the bios on the back, looks like they are trying to link all the Minimates together in a strong good vs evil narrative.
  17. I reviewed 4183 The Mill on LEGO-specific website Eurobricks, check it out and let me know what you think compared to my Minimates reviews.
  18. Happy birthday Tim, have a great day
  19. What's the quality of the K'Nex stuff like?
  20. To be honest, at 2 inches, Minimates are out of scale for most construction/building sets as Lego-size figures are the size standard. I'd like to see the Dalek against a Lego figure as I think that's a more general comparison.
  21. I agree Nessex, it was a good question, and you were more talking about creating noticible fan buzz for certain characters or ideas rather than just one collector saying "This is what I want". I think by this point, if we can't get Kang then no-one's listening!
  22. I met Tommy the other week as we both live in Swindon. I think a UK meetup would be good.
  23. Thanks for the pics Rob. They definitely remind me of Mega Bloks stuff.
  24. I'd like to think that Chuck had more fun when answering those questions than simply putting "no plans right now" for each one! Good work guys
