  1. I don't understand all the hate for this figure. Yes, he has helmet hair, but I'm pretty sure that after filming these scenes in the movie, Evans did too. There was really no practical way to give the figure acurate hair and make the helmet fit well, and given the choice between the two, I'd much rather the helmet fit properly. Not aimed at you personally, Luke. In fact, I think it's perfectly fair to say you'd prefer to save the money for other stuff. Hot toys has lots of really cool stuff coming out and the line has to be drawn somewhere. I just don't see why people think it's so bad, especially based on one set of harshly lit images that wouldn't do even the best figure justice. /rant Sorry, I'm a bit defensive. Captain America is my favorite pre-Avengers Marvel movie, and this was my favorite part of the film. I've been anxiously waiting for this guy since the first teaser, and I'm extremely exited to get mine. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm looking forward to it. That's all
  2. Ok, cool. I just want to make sure I don't miss out on him because he's my favorite avenger. I think he only went on waitlist like a day or two ago, so hopefully mine will convert.
  3. Question for those who have waitlisted something through Sideshow: I kept putting off ordering the HT Hawkeye until I was certain I'd have the funds for him, but of course now he's sold out. I've got on the waitlist yesterday. Is there anyway of knowing what my chances of actually getting the figure through Sideshow are?
  4. The price on these certainly has jumped in the last year or so. I'd say that part of that is the every rising cost of production, but I also think that part of it is that Hot toys knows people will pay high prices, and until the market shows them otherwise, the prices will stay pretty high. I'm kinda bummed about the avengers prices myself. But as you said. It's 200 or nothing. If you shop around, you might be able to find Widow for a bit less(off the top of my head I believe BBTS has her for 175).
  5. That's ok because all the big writers at Marvel are "Marvel Architects"!
  6. I'm strongly holding back the urge to vomit. This seems to be Marvel pandering to the fans who don't know that the X-men existed for 11 years before Wolverine came along. And I agree Lobsterman, I too miss the days when wolverine was just a badass bruiser. He was much cooler that way
  7. Found a Hawkeye/Widow pack at my local TRU. Curiously, there were no Fury/Loki sets even though none of the other sets were gone. I was under the assumption that there would be less demand for that one than for HE/BW, but I'm not complaining.
  8. Jimmy Woo! I knew I was forgetting someone important. What hair/head are you using for him?
  9. Army's probably not the right word to describe how many SHIELD agents I want. I want a bunch of very specific characters who share a uniform. I don't think I intend to leae any of mine as the basic agent. So far, I've got Fury, Dum Dum, Gabe, Jasper Sitwell, and Clay Quartermain. If I track down anymore, I've got a list of other agents I want to QC them into. I really, really like the 616 version of SHIELD in case anyone's wondering. Here's a really crappy phone camera pic of my SHIELD set-up right now:
  10. Already done, but thanks for the response. "What if they say no! He may not have a leg to stand on....." Hey, as long as a replacement doesn't cost me an arm and a leg... In all seriousness, it's not a big deal. I stole the leg off of my old Nick Fury. Not an exact match, but close enough that it's not too noticable.
  11. Picked up my set of this wave yesterday. Really impressed with everyone. One downside, the SHIELD agent that came with my Aunt May has two right legs. Fortunately, I had two others, with another two on the way from Luke, but it still kinda sucks, cause these little guys are so cool, and I totally want an army of them.
  12. Yeah, figured that might be the case. I kinda like the character, but not enough to pay extreme gouger prices for him. I honestly bought Leia because I missed the last one. Far as I can tell it's the same figure, though.
  13. Just saw one of the recent waves of vintage stuff at Target today. Picked up the ROTJ Leia. Was looking around online for some of the others from this series. Does anyone know why the Wedge figure's so darned expensive. Was he like mega-rare or something?
  14. http://www.minimatedatabase.com/figure.php?i=173&n=Boromir Don't have any clue about price or rarity, but I'm sure a quick look around ebay could give you an idea
  15. In the 616 universe, her powers were given to her by the same technology that gave Hank his(i.e. Pym Particles.) To quote the marvel wiki "Janet underwent a biochemical process involving [Hank's] Pym Particles that allowed her to shrink to insectoid proportions and to grow wings. Furthermore, Pym outfitted her with wrist devices which allowed her to discharge blasts she called her "wasp's stings"." So, no, not a mutant in the 616 universe. And given that character personality/backstory-wise, the characters in the cartoon seem to follow their 616 counterparts, I'm not counting on her being a mutant. I could be wrong, but that's my opinion on it. as for the quoted lines: "It's complicated" I can't really see "I'm a mutant" as being too complicated in the marvel universe, especially given that cap has actually worked with mutants in the past "I made all this possible" Janet's rich. She could mean that she funded Hank's research. I don't have definitive answers or anything, but I think these are just as plausible as the others.
  16. I waited up and saw the midnight showing last night... This was the movie I've been waiting most of my life for. I'm a huge Green Lantern fan (gee...I'm sure that's a suprise...) and I was skeptical at first, but I was glad to be proved wrong. Reynolds was nicely toned down for most of the film, and actually showed some chops as an actor. The flying scene with Tomar was amazing, as were all of the scenes on Oa. Also, stick around after the credits, there's a set up for a potential sequel. Not suprising for any fans of the comics, but neat nonetheless. @ Lurch: There's some slightly creepy stuff at the end with parallax, but I didn't find anything too scary, and I'm a bit of a whimp when it comes to scary stuff. Overall, not a perfect movie, but very far from a bad one. This is of course just my opinion, don't hate me if you don't like it.
  17. I think I can help with that: Glantern's Chewbaca If you scroll down a bit, you can also see the rest of that group. To be honest he was my least favorite of the set, but if other people like him, more power to them
  18. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the subject
  19. Really? Are we looking at the same pictures? Because she looks fine to me
  20. Found These via Minimate Database http://www.minimatedatabase.com/figure.php...ossessed+Janosz http://www.minimatedatabase.com/figure.php...cret+Wars+Storm
  21. Someone on my campus owns a Mystery Machine. Not quite as spot on as the pizza planet truck, but still fun to look at while walking to class.
  22. so, I ordered the 2 GI Joe Resolute 7-packs a few weeks ago. In an unrelated bit of fact, I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled this past week. As I was feeling better yesterday, my dad decided to be nice and took me to a local small toy store to let me get some stuff. I figured I'd get a few 25th anniversary joes to fill in some holes left by the resolute sets. They were mostly loose and therefore less expensive, so I bought a few(7 to be exact). Guess what was waiting for me when I got home? The box sets. So now I have 21 new GI Joes. On the plus side, since I bought a comic pack Scarlett for cheap I was able to replace the God-Awful head on the Resolute version. Edit: I also just realized that my GI Joe 7-pack was packed with two bags of stands. Guess I won't have to worry about extras
  23. Hey guys! Been a bit of time since my last update. Most of today's customs have been sitting on my work bench finished for a few weeks, but I've been so busy lately I haven't had time to post them. Fortunately I have the time now. First up, a continuation of my set of robo-mates: This nameless bot was made from a web-cam and some head phones And this bot was made from a remote control. He is accompanied by my attemt at creating some bots without using mates. My therory was that the main bot is controling the smaller bots. Back to something more like my older stuff are two 'mates from what has become one of my new favorite movies: INCEPTION First up is COBB: and next is his partner ARTHUR(includes Totem!): currenty working on an Ariadne to go with them That's all for today, but I have a few other customs in the works including some non-mate stuff. Thanks for looking! Feedback is appreciated!
  24. that was mine. Easy to get lost though, as at the time there were about 10 sets of watchmen customs floating around. Posted it here: Custom Rorschach
  25. Saw this film last night. Easily my favorite Nolan film. Loved every minute of it. I particularly loved
