  1. So.... How IS the line doing??? For awhile they were sitting on the pegs after I personally bought over 2 cases worth. They seem to be moving fairly well in SoCal, how is it where everyone else is? I could still get a full set from the shelves in my area. I really love this line and want to see it continue. But I really wish they would make the accessories (guns, swords, etc) more realistically styled instead of fantasy-style. The biggest, most glaring omission is a minimate-style treasure chest! How can you have pirates without treasure?? Also, a parrot and a monkey (both alive and undead versions please!) should be made similar to the hairless cat from GB World of the Psychic Peter. Is anyone else concerned about how DST hasn't really started on wave 2 yet??
  2. I don't understand the concept that Star Trek is "retail poison". IF it's handled properly. The 2009 movie product was poorly made and over-exposed. If you can "one and done" things like the Terminator tank, BTTF Deloreans, etc, why can't you sneak in a Shuttle Craft?? Star Trek SHOULD work. The original minimate run was not released in TRU. Understandably, TRU won't buy Trek because they still have 2009 movie garbage rotting on their shelves. But Kirk & Spock are like Spidey & Wolverine - the sales numbers show they are the biggest sellers. But, Trek has very little kid appeal, especially when compared to Marvel. If DST didn't rehash the same characters so frequently I'm certain they would have a hit. I truly hope TRU is willing to take a chance on STTNG with the big Blu-Ray push next year. If DST handles it right and aims for more character depth and less same-character rehashes, I'm certain they would have a big enough hit to rival their non-Marvel licenses. They should focus on STTNG for the 25th anniversary and later branch into the other shows for 2013.
  3. So, where are the Zombies and other non-Marvel minimate lines? Especially the Zombies! I can't wait to see those!
  4. I'm really hoping for 616 Nick Fury packed with anyone custom-parts worthy! I want an updated Fury, plus any chance to get more Shield bodies is welcome! If DST TRUly loved us, it would be with a Hydra or AIM army-builder type (shame I didn't buy more when those were available) I really wish DST would rethink doing 616 army builder box sets like they do with the movies.
  5. Does anyone have a more recent release-date calendar? Luke?? I'm really curious as to when most of the releases are coming out these next few months. IIRC the Universal Monsters boxsets should be out the week of 10-12 (please correct me if I'm wrong). Sadly, this is the one thread I hope to see updated more frequently but it rarely is.
  6. I actually asked for Zombies a while ago in one of the "Ask DST"'s, and their response at the time was that they were waiting for the right storyline. Zombies AND Pirates minimates from DST makes me a very happy collector!! I hope both these lines continue for years! I don't care as much for the Zombie Bounty Hunter, but that Zombie Surgeon is soooo cool! I'm buying at least two! Hopefully we'll se the whole line revealed at NYCC!
  7. Better start buying all of those cheap sets off Ebay then! I'm actually enjoying the new 2.0 Minimate style. The Hulkbuster is just pure awesomeness, and I never cared for the classic Rhino or Thing, Hulk, etc because they look so anemic compared to Spidey, Reed Richards, etc. My only complaints about the direction of minimates are: 1) The reluctance to make Kang, and other characters who are now prominantly used in Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes - This should be a golden opportunity to get more characters out that kids now have a familiarity with. I've seen kids in TRU buying minimates with their parents many times, which is a great thing to keep the lines going. But even the 3 3/4inch Marvel Universe line is making a lot of characters that also appear on A:EMH and it's sad to see DST not following suit and capitalizing on the synergy. 2) The over-abundance of Video Game lines. I prefer seeing movie properties, and it seems like those have been put on the back-burner for NEW (to DST) properties. Hopefully when BTTF and Ghostbusters are "done", they will use their licensing budget to focus on other older lines with good multi-wave potential (Aliens, etc). That being said, I will gladly tolerate MvC since we'll be getting Dormammu AND MODOK out of it!
  8. Counting down to SDCC 2011!! In previous years we've seen new stuff at the show, but not massive amounts usually. What do you guys hope/think we'll see? I'm sure we'll see KITT from Knight Rider, along with the MAX APC and whatever else comes in the vehicles wave 3 Personally, I'm just hoping for some new Movie/TV licenses, as I'm really getting tired of Video Game licenses. I'm sure we'll see more Marvel - that's pretty much a sure thing. Also, is anyone here planning on attending the DC Direct Panel and asking about DC minimates??
  9. Would it have killed them to use the 2.5 inch body for Frankenstein? He looks like a midget next to that villager and his big hat.
  10. How about a return to TV/Movie / Comic properties, and less Video Game characters?? Every one of us here can list more of those properties we want over Video Games properties! And YES on the 616 Marvel Army Builder Dump Case! Geniius idea!! Also, the blind-packs sound neat as an extension for what we already have, NOT a change! Continue the current model, but give stores like Target, etc packs like the Lego ones! the cellophane bags are far cheaper to produce than the little dump-boxes so DST should be able to either make more profit or preferably lower the price on the blind packs to stimulate sales. Mix in heavy hitters with army builders and a few fan-requested (Songbird) or Movie mates (movie Hogun, Fandral & Heimdall for example) I like the different pieces we're getting, and would love to see a skeleton *sculpted* minimate Also, bring back the 2.5 inch bodies! And DC minimates!
  11. NOOO!! That mean we'll be waiting *DECADES*
  12. I have a few questions for both Luke AND the other customizers here: I bought one of Luke's Sticker Sets, and the color saturation is just gorgeous!!! My question is: Is this the polyfocus sticker paper? Also, what kind of results is everyone else having with their personal color laser printers? I'm looking at the HP 1025nw, does anyone else here have that model, and what are your opinions, specifically with the polyfocus stickers? I've printed sample pages in the store, but I'm guessing that the paper used makes a difference?? Is anyone else getting results as nice as Luke's? I think Luke had mentioned he had access to one of the high-end expensive printers so I'm curious what the cheaper priced color laser output is like. Thanks!
  13. I wiped out an entire case myself and ordered a set online. I'll watch to see if my TRU restocks. I always hope for each line to succeed to keep TRU interested in Minimates. I know Marvel stuff always sells well, but I want my variety! Pretty sick of video game properties though. In SoCal, some TRU's have Calico Jack in the collector aisle with other MM's, some have them next to the POTC toys in the next aisle, which is a mistake I feel. I *Really* want to see this particular line succeed, as Pirates are perfect for minimates! My ONLY wish for this line is that they change the accessories to more normal pirate gear, instead of the specialized fantasy style guns, swords and knives we're seeing. Oh, and WHERE'S THE TREASURE?? Minimate scale Pirate treasure chest - Make It So!!
  14. How about a "We're Listening" Wave? Kang Songbird New Mutants Moonstar & Magma Thor Movie Fandral & Hogun Thor Movie Heimdall IM2 Final Battle Whiplash Longshot & Dazzler
  15. If this line ends without MODOK, then I'll be very upset!! In fact, I'm buying this whole line to support getting MODOK!
  16. BBTS has had the box set 1 listed as "May 2011". Anyone know when this set actually comes out? I'm waiting to have my "pile of loot" shipped until this and the Capt. America wave 1 comes out (Cap should be next week!).
  17. I'm thankful for what we've gotten so far. That being said, I'd love to see them do a 2-pack of Dani and Magma to complete the lineup! Hopefully in a future TRU wave!
  18. Has DST ever said they WONT do them?
  19. Okay, can someone explain to me HOW they can mix the vehicle waves as they've done in the past, AND it looks like they'll do in the future, and they DON'T think that Star Trek TOS Shuttlecraft will sell??? I mean, WTH? I'd buy a ton of them over a single K.I.T.T. ANY day! My only theory is that they are purposefully holding back for the next movie release to help spur sales. Right now the TRU Star Trek section is a clearance section. My guess is they want to have their stuff next to fresh merchandise with the movie's marketing campaign (or at least TRU does). TRU seemed to have really been hosed with the 2009 movie stuff which I'm sure has made their buyers afraid of all things Star Trek. Even their TOS figures are on hiatus as well. Oh well, my hope is to see DST get the rights to the new JJ Abrams Trek so we can get minimates of the new movies, plus I'm sure they'll work in some TOS stuff. But if there is no celebration of STTNG's 25th anniversary next year, that would be a shame! A STTNG ONLY line of mates would rock! I think the diversity of the previous line might have been more harmful than helpful outside TOS. At the previous rate (had the line continued) it would have taken forever to assemble any modern TV crew.
  20. I agree, I'm sure there were shows that were not "on the table" in terms of availability. I'm also surprised with the Munsters figures, car, etc that were shown, but there's no minimates. Really, the article I linked to seems a little vague in their wording, so I am curious if any other board members were there and could elaborate? But with the Knight Rider minimate vehicle, there seems to be a direction DST is going where it seems sprinkling in 80's properties here and there is DST's goal. In that case, there are a few listed CBS shows where a one-and-done vehicle with one figure release make sense (Airwolf, Magnum P.I.) You're right about TJ Hooker. I didn't list a lot of shows (Peanuts specials) because I know they don't have the rights for that. But just being able to license Star Trek, Lost in Space & Twilight Zone should be enticing to DST one would assume. I know they did Trek before, but there's SO much ground left uncovered, AND next year is the 25th anniversary of STTNG. (Oh, and Happy 80th birthday today, Mr Shatner!)
  21. http://www.oafe.net/blog/2011/03/c2e2-dst-minimate-panel/ "CBS has talked to them about classic TV shows but no shows really grabbed Chuck." WHAT!!??? There are MANY CBS shows that would make great mates! STAR TREK (DST really needs to bring this one back!) TWILIGHT ZONE - no interest? Really? LOST IN SPACE - again, really?? Dukes of Hazzard, Airwolf, Magnum P.I., TJ Hooker, Mission Impossible, Gilligan's Island, I Love Lucy, The Munsters, etc, etc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_shows_previously_aired_by_CBS I can understand if the price is too much or what have you, but look at the list and tell me if *nothing* interests you.
  22. How about using The Leader's head for the Phantom? Just a thought.
  23. After seeing ANOTHER 80's property (Knight Rider) get 'mated, I started to think about other 80's properties that need 'mates: (mainly ones with vehicles) The A-Team! Give us a Van and a 4-pack and I'm good! (Then I'd buy two to modify one van for the Punisher!) Magnum P.I. - never was a huge fan, but his car would be cool, and a box-set with Magnum, Higgins and Magnum's two buddies would sell well. Tales of the Gold Monkey - show was cheezy but we could make some good Indiana Jones customs from them. Heck, it'd be like getting a MAX version of Indiana Jones. And the plane would make a great vehicle! Gremlins! Don't worry about the humans at all, just give us Gizmo and lots of gremlins! For the vehicle asst - Gizmo's Barbie car (I guess) and Gremlin with a bulldozer! Airwolf! Cool vehicle, and I'd totally buy a Ernest Borgnine minimate! And going beyond the 80's, I'm not a Munster's fan, but I'd buy minimates of them and the car. Although, I have a feeling we'll see them eventually with parts re-used from the Universal Monsters line. (I didn't mention Goonies, Star Wars, Indy, etc, etc because they've been brought up before and DST has mentioned they keep trying for Indy, SW, etc)
