  1. WTF!!!! It's Boris Freakin' Karloff!! It's like getting another monster in the set, he's so creepy & cool! Plus Ardeth is a recognizable character! He's more important than another generic Man in Tux or Woman in Dress (I would gladly give up BOTH for Ardeth!) Plus, I would have bought several for customs if he had his fez! Zach, can you tell us what happened here??
  2. Expendables minimates will test my completism. I attended the Hollywood premiere. It was really tough telling the cast I loved the movie when I thought it was crap. But it hasn't been the first or last time for me. Bruce Willis is a huge jerk IRL though. I hate that guy.
  3. Seeing as how the driver is B&W, I'm sure we're getting a variant car and I'd be surprised not to get a box set or a few waves. Kinda weird though, with the driver B&W while the car is in color. As for all the KANG naysayers, the confirmed at-least-one-of: Kang/Winter Soldier/Falcon/Zemo has not yet been shown. There are a few more SDCC sets that should be revealed closer to SDCC-time. I did not expect them to be revealed at Toy Fair, and neither should you. Wait until the SDCC 4-packs are all revealed before complaining.
  4. I hope Maestro Hulk comes with a cracked Cap Shield!
  5. That makes more sense! Then they can use Spock and another character to sell the repaint. But this would be the perfect opportunity to give us a Mirror Mirror Scotty and Chekov! SOOO much greatness this year! BUT where's The Mummy's Ardeth Bey with Fez hat figure?? Did the DST UM pics show all the TRU exclusives? I saw B&W Hunchback but no other B&W figure. I hope there are more UM figure's we haven't seen - I would easily give up either the civilian man or woman for an Ardeth Bey with Fez hat figure! And Calico Jack = WIN! More accessories!!!! Looks like I'll be buying even MORE of wave 2 than I did of wave 1!
  6. D'oh! I never did get him. Besides, he's not exactly cheap and plentiful for customs.
  7. Is anyone else excited for Glen? IIRC that will be the first minimate baseball cap hairpiece, which I can think of a ton of customs waiting for it!
  8. Ardeth Bey (guy with the Fez) MUST be in the TRU wave! If there's no Ardeth Bey, I will be sorely disappointed!!
  9. This would give us a very accurate Wilma Dearing figure, because her costume was practically painted on, very easy for DST to replicate!
  10. I'm really disappointed at the loss of Max Zombies in favor of WD. I'm happy to see WD, but I really had my heart set on those Max Zombies! Why? Because 1) what we saw at NYCC was super cool! 2) We're less likely to get extra pack-in stuff. Especially those really cool gravestones! 3) With MAX, the sky's the limit! If DST wants to make a Zombie Elvis-Impersonator for example, they don't need to check to see if it was in the comic first! 4) I really want Zombie 2-packs! Civilians are cool and needed, but Zombies are scarier in Hordes!! I would be happy if there is at least one zombie 2-pack per assortment instead of every pack being a 1:1 Human/Zombie ratio. As for the WD characters, after the main cast AND the Governor, I don't care much for the civilians. I don't care for every human encountered in the comic getting minimated. But I am curious to see how they make Carl. Zach! Please tell me we'll one day get those MAX Zombies shown at NYCC! They were awesome! (Now I know why they haven't been up for pre-order anywhere!)
  11. YES! There was a tradition during the golden & silver age of comics of having monkeys & apes on comic covers, even if they weren't in the story at all. This tradition should continue with minimates, with at least one monkey or ape in EACH line! Continuing with Boyd's suggestion of super apes, we need a Zombie monkey and a pirate monkey. And the Sony line should continue with Ape Escape.
  12. I think asking for mates from shows such as Happy Days is simply Jumping The Shark...
  13. Yes! Dragon Man / White Uniform Doctor Doom Annihilus / Negative Zone Johnny Storm
  14. Stormbreaker Thor and TRU FA Thor are both great BUT don't forget that the other mates they come with are pretty awesome too! Balder - very cool, will likely never be upgraded or released again. Sif - also cool, again not likely to ever be updated or seen again. Loki - My favorite Loki so far! Beta Ray Bill - not too shabby. I wasn't thrilled with the duplication with the recent regular release, but he fits in well for a character I don't care for. These figures are good enough to buy even with getting a second Thor, plus you have the option to put one with your Avengers, and the other with an Asgardians display! Or you could sell/trade off the one you don't want.
  15. Your TJ Hooker would be more authentic with his Trek movie series poodle-hair.
  16. Whoa. Whoa. WHOA! We've been begging for one purple man to be made for years now, and before we get him, we're already asking for *another* purple man? More Daredevil supporting characters & villains would be cool, but personally I'd prefer a mixed wave with other FF/Inhumans/Avengers.
  17. I'm getting set for disappointment. Based on the reveals we've seen for this year, I'm really starting to see them passing over all four of those this year. NOPE! Zach confirmed earlier this month that we were getting *at least* ONE off this list! Also, before everyone busts out their torches & pitchforks, don't the SDCC exclusives usually get announced just before SDCC? Meaning, if we don't see them at Toy Fair in a few weeks, don't give up all hope!
  18. They are not Universal branded monsters. They are generic, public domain monsters. Its for a line called Monster Hunters.
  19. Interesting about the tooling costs. I had assumed (I know, I know) that getting 2 releases out of a vehicle would be sufficient (TRU & direct market versions) for most tooling costs. I was basing my assumption off the Munsters vehicle (that was announced for minimates, right?) which I figured didn't have many options on repaints. I also remember the Speed Racer cars that were two individual unique-tooled cars. So by one-and-done, I meant in one wave. I try not to delve much into licensing costs because that's not something I'll ever know or that gets shared with the general public. I trust DST to amortize that cost however they can. I would hope that some properties would be more "reasonable" than others. I'd still love to see Dukes of Hazard mates but if it doesn't work out financially for DST in any way, I'll support your decision. The last thing I want is for DST to go out of business (as Palisades did, may they Rest In Peace  )
  20. You don't sound like a jerk at all, and I sincerely hope I didn't either. I did not ask the Babylon 5 question. I love that show, I'd buy every B5 minimate if they existed, but I know there isn't a snowball's chance in hell of those ever getting officially made. As for Fringe, I have no interest in 'mates from it, but I guess that was a more relevant question since it is on the air. I really feel that after DST was burned on 24 and BSG (to an extent), that we won't see normal people mates much. I guess what I want to say is that my question-asking focus has shifted now that we have Zach here blessing us with his awesomeness. I feel like questions like "when will this be released" are great for him and Luke. And "will this part/tampo/color be changed" on upcoming releases are also great questions for Zach. So, while I don't mind "have you thought of" questions, I do wish sometimes they were better thought out first. I'm glad people were asking for Zombies Pirates, now lately for Monkeys & Parrots to come with the Pirates. It's interesting to me what others are thinking of in terms of Minimates. Some things I *want* people to pester DST until they get made (Star Trek shuttlecraft, Kang, Falcon, etc, etc) Of course, I won't begrudge a 5-year old asking for Fairly Oddparents mates. That was cool knowing there's fresh blood coming in to minimates, because that will keep it evergreen for a long time!
  21. It's actually kind of helpful in that it shows DST there is a market for some of the properties. Would they have even considered Kang if we hadn't been pestering them about it? I like to see the "have you considered" questions because I like hearing DST's thoughts on the matter. Didn't we pester them about making pirates & zombies? I like that we can contribute our 2-cents worth directly to DST about things we're willing to buy. I'm sure a lot of customizers like to know what stands almost no chance of being made before investing time & effort into their customs. Although, I thought it weird when DST was asked about cop cars & motorcycles, they said "how about a boat instead?" (at least that's how I interpreted it!) Just curious, did you ask DST a question this session?
  22. I kinda figured that was the case. Sorry to nitpick  It's funny, so many of these 80's properties that I would never touch, I suddenly WANT them as minimates! I would not buy Knight Rider as any other line - die cast, 3/34 inch, etc. But I've bought every one of the minimates so far. It's nice to know you'll continue Knight Rider. But I want that A-Team van like nobody's business! Plus, didn't Face have his own car as well? I would also be down for every Dukes of Hazard minimates you would make, as well as CHiPs! (Don't worry, not everyone laughed at you like DSTChuck! We got your back!), in addition to any other properties. A Scooby Doo Mystery Inc van would be awesome too! As would all of the other numerous lines mentioned in this thread. I just love how the vehicle line is a great way to get potentially one-and-done properties out there!
  23. IF they must make a modern boat, it should be "Slice of Life" with Dexter! Plus the boat from Jaws of course. Yes, they should make police cars & especially motorcycles before any boats. Especially motorcycles designed for minimates that can easily be customized! (Ghost Rider!) Shame about LOTR, but *maybe* that was DST's way of saying that 3rd wave can't be made *the way it was originally intended*, IE with 2.5-inch mates? As for their answer about The Hobbit, it seemed they answered that at the top of the page. Still, I remain hopeful. We've been misled before.
  24. I cannot! Never discussed it. Only one Hazzard question in the Q&As I can see, and Chuck focused on the cost of the rights, and the limited product possibilities. BUT when I suggested CHiPs once, he laughed and laughed. I think that's why he likes having me around. The laughter I provide. See, now I'm really curious. limited product possibilities? Knight Rider's pretty much done already! Dukes of Hazzard could easily have 2 variants of the General Lee - clean & dirty, plus tons of different character releases. Not to mention the different jeeps & cop cars. Knight Rider's likely more viable at retail in this market, but there are mathematically more possibilities with Dukes of Hazzard than there is with Knight Rider.
