  1. And I do think they have adjusted these things based on time and distance from a short-term story haven't they? I seem to recall some official rosters originally called Paulie, Frenzy, Wraith and Sunpyre "official" X-Men (close to the time of their short tenure) but then later official rosters downgraded them to "temporary" X-Men (of which there are zillions). That's the area I see most Utopia residents in. Temporary. The vast majority of them weren't ever on a solid "team" or any one writer's chosen roster. Lady Mastermind, Mystique and Sabretooth aside (because that's a whole different argument), I think a lot of those Utopia memberships can and should be downgraded to "temporary" status if and when they ever do an official roster list again.
  2. Yeah, I understand where they are officially, what I don't like is the distinction between them and Lady Mastermind is as simple as "They were pretending to be someone else" wheras she "Was herself, just pretending to be a good guy" and for some reason that makes her more a genuine X-Man than them, and not simply an infiltrator (like them). I mean Skrullverine didn't even know he was a skrull, he was for all intents and purposes a hero, who believed he was Wolverine. Wheras Lady Mastermind was never a hero, and was working against the team in secret... but because HER identity was real, she's an official X-Man, and since Skrullverine's identity was false, even though he didn't know it... he's an "imposter" it's... dumb semantics. Sabretooth furthermore, was on the team as a prisoner, against his will, which is even dumber. Rogue took him prisoner, so that makes him an X-Man for some reason? (Because the writer said so) That's just stupid. I've never liked calling any of the three of them X-Men based on that tenure. None of them were truly "on the team" so to speak... and I doubt if you asked a reputable X-Man (pretend they're not fictional) "Hey, do you think of these guys as your teammates?" They'd say, "Yes!" ... more along the line of, "No, that's that bitch that pretended to be one of us and betrayed us." I can't imagine there are fond pictures of them hanging in the mansion anywhere. I get that they were X-Men during that run, but I feel like once it came to light they were simply villains infiltrating, they should have been stricken from the longterm roster, and written off as infiltrators. (Aside from Sabretooth, who never should have been on it in the first place...) The First Xorn also confuses the hell out of me, but that's mostly just due to bad writing. But he's technically also an infiltrator. In theory. For some reason calling him an X-Man bothers me less than those three though. Maybe because there was some suggestion he wasn't originally evil, and just kinda went crazy (due to Sublime or using Kick or something? I don't friggin' remember)... like I said... with Xorn it's more an issue of bad writing & retcons, so a good explanation was never actually given. I DUNNO MAN... I think we both understand the notion of "Official clarification from marvel" vs. "Non-official clarification from Marvel" ... I'm just ranting that I don't always agree with Marvel's clarifications on the matter, haha. I'm not disputing that what they say is official is what they consider official... I'm just saying even some of what they call official rubs me the wrong way (which ultimately means nothing). I don't like calling those three villains X-Men, and I damn sure don't like calling half the residents of Utopia X-Men. The family tree needs pruning. God willing, now that the fox deal is happening, they will release an updated official roster down the road and trim it down considerably.
  3. Actually being that he's a metamorph, he's technically naked, and the helmet is technically a part of his body. Technically. I think. They technically produce and reabsorb the clothing and simple objects they're wearing from the matter of their own bodies. I assume that includes his helmet. I recall a panel from Mystique's solo series where she produces a test tube vial from behind her back to collect a sample of something (or something along that line), and her companion asks her where she got a test tube, and she explains she basically made it from herself. She essentially morphed a test tube into her belt, and then removed it. Which her companion then finds gross. It's roughly equivalent to a normal person removing a test-tube sized amount of flesh from their body... survivable. Eventually the flesh heals over/regenerates. But for them (the metamorphs) it's painless an instantaneous. And the matter can typically be reabsorbed. Pretty sure they can only do simple solid objects, not machines or complex parts, or gasses or ammunition, etc. I'd say a super ugly helmet qualifies. So it's likely he CHOSE to look that stupid. He didn't just FIND an ugly helmet.
  4. Weird in'it? Mimic and Changeling are the two most interesting to me as X-Men we don't currently have, haha. I'll grant you Changeling was somewhat confusingly retconned into being an undercover X-Man after he had already died, which makes him... feel sketchy, but that said, he's still pretty much always listed on every list of X-Men members as an official member, so I give him the nod. Frankly I always kind-of wished they'd resurrect him, stick him back on a team and rename him Morph, just to reconcile the whole confusing Changeling v. Morph thing within the 616 continuity. More or less the same way they did with Blink when her Age of Apocalypse incarnation eventually eclipsed her 616 version in popularity. They just brought her back in 616 and made her closer to AoA to... smooth the confusion over. I want that to happen with Morph. (Or Changeling as it were). What's wacky to me is Sage/Tessa was also retconned into being a covert X-Man (similar to Changeling) around this early "original team" timeframe, but no one ever mentions it or acknowledges it, haha. It happened, and then everyone just kinda forgot about it. Sage however, at least had a good long modern out in the open run as an X-Man too, unlike Changeling. Mimic was undeniably an X-Man, imo. He kind-of BS'ed his way onto the team, but once he did it, he was there, and he was definitely the 6th member for a handful of adventures there. His tenure was short, but it was there. And I think his later modern ties to the team after SIEGE-ish just sort of re-affirm him as one of their on-again off-again, less morally upstanding or noteworthy but still occasional members. I honestly think of those two as less tenous than a lot of modern X-Men though. These days there are so many books, so many teams, so many sub-teams, so many students... it's become a huge mess to keep track of who's an "official" X-Man and who's just "Kind-of" an X-Man. Rogue's team of mostly villains was about where I started getting annoyed... Mystique, Sabretooth and Lady Mastermind all technically became X-Men at that point, even though all three of them betrayed the team and were revealed as infiltrators, they still get listed on every official X-Men list out there. I'm all for accepting characters who made the turn with good intentions like Juggernaut, Emma, Magneto... but it bugs the hell out of me that we still have to call Lady Mastermind an X-Man, when she was only ever a villain pretending to be one to screw the good guys (I mean we don't call Dark Beast or Skrullverine real X-Men, and that was basically what they did too). ... but where things got REALLY messy imo was around Utopia/Second Coming... once Cyclops gathered up every mutant in existance and stuck them all on an island together, it was like every one of them suddenly had a tenuous claim at being an X-Man. They started cherry-picking secondary characters and sending them on like... 1-off missions as their powers suited Cyclops' needs (leaving readers to ask, "So wait... is this guy an X-Man now?") ... Ariel was the first one that really annoyed the crap out of me. She was like a 1-panel throw away appearance because the story needed a teleporter... she briefly refers to herself as an X-Man, then blows up... and now she's on every official X-Man roster thereafter. Due to like a 2 panel throwaway appearance. And there are tons more "members" like that since Utopia and beyond. It confuses the hell out of me. I miss when keeping track of the X-Men was simple.
  5. RE: Mimic and Beast's feet... While I agree whole heartedly that we still need an end-all be-all definitive perfect Beast Minimate... because we still don't have an utterly flawless one... I honestly don't think it needs to come before Mimic, because I honestly never thought of Mimic as a bulky character who needs big feet. Now I know... he technically has Beast's powers, and was even barefoot in his earliest incarnation (and a few since then). And some of the artists who've pushed the boundaries of his proportions a bit more do indeed at times draw him bulkier than others... BUT... that said... many artists also don't push the boundaries of his proportions, and draw him considerably leaner than Hank... and that's honestly the way I've always thought of him. Exiles Mimic and Modern Dark X-Men Mimic especially are both way leaner than Hank is ever depicted, and both wear boots in point of fact (Exiles Mimic doesn't even have Hank's powers anymore, I don't think). Classic Mimic, I admit, can vary. Sometimes he's drawn with big honking feet, sometimes he's drawn looking no bulkier than Angel... but like I said, I personally tend to think of him as lean... and think that bulking up his minimate with a big chest and big feet would just look unfaithful to the character. He's not that big. ALL THAT SAID... I'd also agree that I'd prefer Modern Mimic (Blue Costume) to Classic Mimic (Orange Costume)... but ultimately I'd prefer either to no Mimic at all. Because he's currently the oldest X-Man never to get a minimate. (Note: I do not want Exiles Mimic before 616 Mimic. That would just annoy me. Though I would take him after, because I enjoy Exiles... I just think of him a different character entirely, who's less essential. But Exiles isn't exactly current or very relevant these days, so I doubt he'll ever get made anyway.)
  6. Honestly, if we got another Boom-Boom, I'd prefer a modern one to another retro one. Something from after the X-Men's move to San Francisco... that doesn't have the 90's hair and glasses. The one we have serves me fine as a retro one. But I'm not dying for another Boom-Boom. See anything from my signature for things I'd like before her.
  7. The 90's ones? No. It's just the more recent modern cartoons. I believe.
  8. I favor unmade X-Men over all other minimates, so while I'd love the vast majority of these... my choices were easy... Took Mimic in the first vote. Easy choice. The only other unmade X-Man on that list was Changeling... everyone else is a costume variant or an ally. And even Changeling has technically been made already if you count Age of Apocalypse Morph... which I don't. Took Hepzibah in the second vote because she's the only Starjammer who has actually also been an X-Man (briefly). She is also my favorite Starjammer though, so I wasn't violating the question posed by the poll, lol. Ultimately I'd love to get all of the allies listed (including the Starjammers). My world will keep spinning if we never get these costume variants... none of these are my favorite costumes for any of these characters... BUT... I wouldn't say no to any of them all the same.
  9. At what point do updates to the outfits of Spider-Man 2099 step outside the timeline context of a single year... I realize comics work on a sliding timeline... but seems like if he's got a brand new look, you'd think he'd be Spider-Man 2100 by now... If not like... Spider-Man 2110... PS. This thread is really making me want a Modern Rogue update, and I feel like I'm being set up for disappointment.
  10. I really want to be mad that this poll doesn't have an X-Man on it, but upon double-checking, apparently we already have every X-Man who was created in the 70s. There are a couple narrow misses from the late 60s and early 80s we don't have (like say Mimic)... but yeah. I'm sure there are also a couple random 70s costume variants for characters we already have... but yeah... Closest thing I could find to an unproduced X-Man from the 70s was Lilandra. EDIT: Although I now realize the poll says "Solo" and the X-Men are far from Solo, so fair enough there. That said I voted for Deathlok. Honestly this poll was very uninteresting for me... apparently I'm not big on 70s characters. I only picked Deathlok because his look hasn't changed severely and he could stand as a modern minimate. And he seems to be the biggest character on this list we don't already have. Most of the other characters on this poll I'd be interested in are ones that have already been made in costumes I prefer more. Captain Britain and Adam Warlock for instance... I like both characters, but I'm happy with the minimates we already have for them. I don't need their 70s looks. I'd REALLY like a comic book verison of Star-Lord (and all the guardians) but first appearance is not the one I'd opt for.
  11. Re: Why the Animated Line makes Black characters dark grey... Once upon a time my dad worked in grocery store. I also later worked in this same store, but this story predates that, because this was back in the 90s when Power Rangers were all the rage, and I was in like, the 3rd grade. The store sold Power Ranger cookies. Large individual ones, like a grab-and-go eat it now snack cookie, in a grab-and-go lunch section freezer. They were supplied by an outside vendor, who would come and restock them regularly. I was a kid at the time, and a big fan of Power Rangers, so I often ate said cookies, my dad would buy me them for lunches. I'm not sure why, because they were actually kind of gross. I think I just liked Power Rangers that much. ANYWAY... I noted quickly that they had Red Rangers, Green Rangers... Blue Rangers, Pink Rangers and Yellow Rangers. But never got Black Rangers. This perplexed me as a fan, because as far as the original roster went, Zach (The Black Ranger) was easily in most kids top 3 favorite Power Rangers. And frankly, after eating all five other rangers, I WANTED to eat a Black Ranger. So one day, my dad asked the vendor, "Why no Black Rangers?" and the vendor explained to him that Black wasn't produced because it isn't a kid friendly color. Now... stupid as it seems... since this is the Animated line, and the Animated line is undoubtedly something corporate decision makers would prefer stay kid friendly... I'm guessing the same reasoning is at play here. IE. We can't make animated toys (or cookies) black, because animated toys (and cookies!) are for kids, and black is a scary imposing color. We want to keep this line brightly colored and kid friendly. Just guessing though. Meanwhile as a kid with firsthand perspective on what I wanted... I was just like, "That's completely stupid! I want a Black Ranger Cookie!"
  12. A recurring theme I'm seeing in this thread is "If you look at the animated line's purpose as though it exists to supplement the 616 line, you're doing it wrong" And I feel like we're harping on that too much. I don't think anyone here views the animated line's purpose as a 616 supplement. We all know what it is, we all know the animated line is the animated line, just like a movie line is a movie line. We all know that some figures can make the leap from one set to another more seamlessly than others. I think the only point anyone was trying to get across Re: that topic, is that the animated line is often more desirable to some of us if and when it can make that transition, and that this wave can't do that very well. Which makes it less versatile, and thus less desirable. Do i get that the animated line is the animated line, and not the "who can we sneak into 616" line? Yes. Certainly. Am I happier when the animated line serves the dual function of also sneaking a character into the 616 line? Yes. Certainly.
  13. Yeah... WTH, with the Zemo's in the Chicagoland Area? Where are they all going? First I hit the Elk Grove Walgreens and Found the Rulk & Marvel Pack, and the Vulture Pack. Alright, 2 out of 4 ain't terrible for a first stop. Then I hit the Northlake Walgreens and Found those two again + Scorpion. Bought Scorpion. Still No Zemo. Curses. Then I hit the Franklin Park Walgreens and found those three again. Consarnit. Then finally I hit the Melrose Park Walgreens and found all four. If only I'd gone here first. I had to go to four flipping Walgreenses, All of whom had Rulk and Vulture, none of whom had Zemo until the last one. (And I bought it, so now that one has all 3 sets minus Zemo too, lol)... in any event, don't bother with any of those if you're seeking Zemo. And I also noted the $15 Marvel Legends Sale, so along the way I bought Human Torch, Invisible Woman, Medusa, Namor, Netflix Daredevil and Ms. Marvel (Kamala). And also a Pop Vinyl Juggernaut, who is a Walgreens exclusive I've been hunting for for like a year. Can't believe I finally found that. Walgreens took a lot of my money last night.
  14. I always feel bad when a new line debuts, and people here have salty things to say about it, and then Zach is crestfallen, lol. I don't think anyone here is like... aiming to be meanspirited, per say. I think the biggest fans of minimates tend to congregate here, and the biggest fans of this or any other thing... are usually the most critical of that thing... by virtue of the fact they're the most passionate? *Shrug* Sure I think MODOK looks like Soup, but I did say I loved Wasp! lol...
  15. Not to veer off the topic of Black Panther, but earlier people were discussing the Captain Marvel movie dealing with Skrulls, and I've seen that mentioned before in other places, so it seems to be a thing... It was my understanding, when last I checked, that the MCU couldn't use Skrulls, because they fell under Fox's Fantastic Four license. What changed? What's going on? Was that never accurate to begin with? Did they make a deal like they did for Ego? I need answers! Factual preferred, but speculated fine too, lol.
  16. Yeah... I usually tend to be an animated minimates apologist, haha. And by that I mean, some people around here often say things like, "Grr! I want a comic book version of this character! I hate this animated one!" and I'm like, "This animated one... looks almost exactly how I'd expect a comic book minimate to look, other than some mild shading. This is a perfectly fine version of this character, and I endorse it." ... I can't do that for this wave. In good conscience. Haha. Jackal looks wonky to me. I wish he was just a standard minimate body, no powerhouse chest, no animal legs, and I wish they'd stop re-using the ultimate Green Goblin head for characters who aren't Green Goblin. The Silhouette just strikes me as Green Goblin instantly, and looks wrong on other characters. I get that they're trying to use it as a generic pointy-eared head... but I think they'd be better off just making a new pointy eared head... probably with straight more elfy/werewolfy ears. Those little curvy-bends in that one's ears just... instantly look like Ult. Green Goblin to me. I admittedly love Wasp... this is going to be my new Default Wasp, just being less retro than older ones. Probably with the mask off, but I like the mask on too. Makes me excited to see future versions that will most certainly be coming when the next movie hits. I hate Modok, he looks like an angry can of soup. I think they made him cylindrical to evoke the shape of a minimate head, but it doesn't work imo. I vastly prefer MvC3 Modok, and will continue to use him as my default Modok. MvC3 Modok was perfect for such an odd-shaped Minimate. Madame Masque... this is not the Madame Masque I know. This is not the Madame Masque of my youth... haha. I'm wondering if you put the hairpiece on top of the masked head, if it would evoke a look that was a little more comic book esque... I'm probably going to do that. I hope there's a peg hole in the masked head, so that's actually possible. If not I will be vexed. But yeah. This is going to be one of those minimates that just bugs me for not being a passable comic book version and makes me want a 616 minimate all the more. (See my Grey Gargoyle comments in the Avengers Villain Poll Thread, haha) I don't know who Screwball is. Someone tell me please. Is she created for the cartoon, or an actual comic character I'm just not familiar with? Black Panther looks solid. His little ears are kinda cute. I'm not sure if cute is good or bad on a superhero, haha. Peter and Gwen are alright... hard to get excited, have better versions of both those costumes, but they're the anchor characters, so I get it. No complaints. They accomplish what they're supposed to, haha.
  17. Yeah, Just to speak to my own self... I know nothing about Grey Gargoyle. As I said in my first post, I'm barely familiar with these characters, and couldn't even tell you their exact powers or civilian names in most cases. The only comic I ever read featuring him was Fear Itself and/or a Fear Itself Tie-In. The only time I saw him before that was as an old 5" toybiz action figure. That said... For some reason just having him in my collection, but knowing he's not a classic, standard version I can display amongst other Avengers villains bugs the crap out of me. Having a weird version of a character without a normal one just gets under my skin, haha. I remember long ago we had Zombieverse Black Panther, with his missing limbs, but no normal Black Panther... and it annoyed the crap out of me. I also hated having the movie versions of Blob and Deadpool before we had actual comic versions of Blob and Deadpool. Now, when a character can pass for a classic version, it bugs me less. Hela, for instance, I like having MCU Hela, because MCU Hela... can make a decent enough comic-book Hela. But a Black Panther missing his arm, or a bleach-blonde Blob in a Tanktop, or Origins Deadpool that's just Ryan Reynolds in a red Tanktop (lousy tanktops), or even Fear Itself Grey gargoyle, who IS a 616 Canon minimate... but who is so drastically different from the classic version of the character he could never pass for normal. Those ones get under my skin. Don't ask me why. It's like having them in my big minimate box makes me say, "Why aren't you normal, so I can put you in a 616 Marvelverse display like your friends?" It's a weird phenomenon... but it DOES make me want a normal Grey Gargoyle. Even though I know deep down, if we didn't have Fear Itself Grey Gargoyle, I wouldn't care less if we got a normal Grey Gargoyle.
  18. That is entirely reasonable good sir. I have filled out the Jarvis form. I have no idea if I did so in time, or if someone might have beaten me to it already, haha. I'm also pretty sure I accidentally did it twice... but... if you only have 1 left, It probably doesn't matter. I imagine.
  19. This one is difficult me for the wrong reasons... haha... I hate to be the naysayer, but I think the reason most of these guys haven't been made is people like me who have no idea who they are, haha. I'm like... barely familiar with anyone on this poll. We all have our own wheelhouses of Marvel interest, and apparently this one isn't mine. I'm vaguely aware of several names... I've beaten up several of these guys in ensemble Marvel video games. That said, I couldn't tell you any of their civilian names, their exact powers, or their basic backstories. I know Attuma is something of a Namor villain and Man-Ape something of a Black Panther villain. I know Count Nefaria killed Thunderbird (that small connection to the X-Men aside, I know nothing about him). I feel like I want to vote for Attuma or Man-Ape just because I know a hair more about them than most of the other names, and I like giving people a good arch-rival. That said I have no idea which one I'll choose at the time I'm typing this. Though a tiny part of me wants to choose Grey Gargoyle just because we have that Worthy/Mighty version of him... and having a weird version of a character, but not a classic version of a character just irks me. I'd like a classic Grey Gargoyle just to be less irked by having a weird version. (That said, we're getting a weird version of Man-Ape with the Black Panther movie mates, aren't we? Haha.) Ugh... no idea who I'm picking here... We'll see. PS. Is there a way we can separate the army builder poll into a separate vote than the regular poll? I feel like I don't vote on some of these because my army builder vote would be a true shot in the dark, and I don't want to skew the results needlessly. Even though I may have an opinion on the main poll. It's not so much that I don't care, it's that I don't want to throw a useless vote onto a poll when I know there are people who DO care... if one army builder wins because I threw a random throw away vote on it, over one people actually care about, I'd feel remiss. EDIT: I went with Attuma and Lava Men. Attuma because I frequently go to Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal Studios... and there's a big banner of him amongst other famous villains in the arcade... and I figure if he's cool enough to warrant a banner alongside Kang, Red Skull, Mandarin, Magneto, Zemo, Kingpin, etc... he must be doing something right... I went with Lava Men because who doesn't like a good Lava Man. That one transcends context or Avengers knowledge.
  20. EDIT: Nevermind, found the answer to my question earlier in the thread (missed it at first) New Question: Are the faces stickers or like... paint/decal? (Permanent, as it were. Not sure on the terminology)
  21. I need to make that Cannonball... The thought never really crossed my mind honestly, since I'm more or less happy with Liefield Cannnonball as my go-to Cannonball, but I do love a good X-Men costume, and I never considered how easy he was to make from that Cable. I've honestly considered making that or similar Angels, but I'm more or less happy with the Blue Version, of that costume, which is a factory minimate we already have. I prefer the blue version, in all honesty. I wouldn't mind making an update of the blue version with metal wings/blue skin though (I realize that minimate exists, but it looks hideous and dated) My customization tends to focus on characters I don't have, over costume variants of characters I do have. Honestly, I should really buy some spare Strike Force mates, because I could probably make a half decent Joseph and Cecelia easily enough too. I bought two waves worth at the time they were released just to make the included head swaps. I didn't want to drop the money on more at the time. But now that some time has passed, I could talk myself into it, haha.
  22. That's why I suggested pruning it back to just like... HARD X-Men. X-Men Proper. X-Men X-Men. (And yes, Mimic would count) I'd eliminate half of Generation X for that reason. Many of them graduated to actual X-Men, such as Chamber, Husk... I think M was an X-Man at some point? (Maybe? She may have only ever been on loan from another team, like Madrox often was back in the day.) But the ones like Penance, Mondo, Synch, Skin, I'd say leave them all off, as none of them were ever actual X-Men, and most of them are dead. I'd say Hellion wouldn't count either for that reason, since he's more a student/splinter team member... unless he was promoted to a real X-Man at some point and I'm just forgetting? It gets so confusing after Utopia. It's like every mutant on that island suddenly gained a claim toward being an X-Man. I tend to use this list on wikipedia as a general guideline (that said, like all wiki's it's subject to user opinions and edits, so it's not infallible)... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_X-Men_members I'd say any name not listed in section 1.1 through 1.3 is automatically out. Section 1.1 has already been made in its entirety. I'd say any unmade characters in section 1.2 should be included except maybe the Deadly Genesis team since they're a retcon (not saying I wouldn't like to have them, there are just more deserving proper, non-retconned X-Men). 1.3 gets really messy really quick. I'm tempted to say leave 1.3 out entirely, and limit a poll to 1.2. I could live without including a lot of characters from 1.3 on the poll, but I'd be upset to lose out on some of the modern recruits like Pixie, Xorn, Husk, Chamber, etc. They deserve to be on the poll, imo. Maybe cut it off at 2010? *shrug* I dunno. I personally push for Stacy X a lot, because I always loved her snakeskin design, though I admit, most people hate her, and she'd never win the poll, haha. I dunno, I'm a huge X-Men fan (and I know I'm not the only one around here) so it would be extremely Sophie's choice for me (Though I'd ultimately vote for Marrow, I can tell you right now)... that said, I'm VERY VERY curious to know who the multiverse deems the most essential unmade X-Man, with Banshee out of the way (My money is on Mimic or Nate, but who knows).
  23. I honestly think Deadpool is the one character who could make the jump from Fox Movies to the MCU without issue, simply because of his third-wall breaking, canon defying power. He could talk the problem away with an off-the-cuff remark and we could move on from there. I mean he does so in the first movie, mentioning the Xaviers, the timeline. Then there's the X-Men Origins Deadpool Action Figure. It's easy enough to explain away canon problems for this character. I honestly don't need the supporting cast. I agree, Colossus is perfect, so I'd take him (though I'd prefer a more costumey costume) The villains are meh. The movie Ajax was relatively uninteresting to me. Al and Weasel are okay, but if they recast them I'd get over it quickly. Movie Copycat wasn't even really Copycat, so much as a more generic love interest, which I don't even think Deadpool needs, and struck me as very Hollywood. Angel Dust and Negasonic represent one of my biggest problems with the Fox X-Men movies, and that's how often they just take random characters from the comics based on their code name or power, completely re-invent them, or ignore anything about them from the comics, and throw them into plots/situations/stories/movies they have absolutely nothing to do with. It's rampant in Fox's X-Men Universe, and I friggin' hate it. I'd be fine with losing them in a reboot. I don't have a problem with either character in a bubble, in fact I like Negasonic, and I agree, I love her Deadpool 2 look... she's just, frankly... NOT a character that even EXISTED in the comics (at least before the movie). Her powers were stolen from Cannonball. Her name was stolen from a largely different character, who wasn't an X-Man, and was also unrelated to Deadpool. BUT NOW... just to reconcile the fact that her cinematic counterpart was nothing like her comic book source, they've retconned the comic book Negasonic to be more like the movie Negasonic, so I guess I'm all turned around on the subject. BUT AT THE VERY LEAST... she started as something Fox mostly just made up for their movie. And I hate how much Fox does that for their X-Men movies. For every hit, there are 10 misses. And yeah, while I obviously haven't seen her performance, I hate movie Domino's look. So we can sweep her aside too. SO YEAH... if they wanted to reboot, keeping Reynolds, but pitching the rest... I'd be fine with it. But if they kept the rest, I'd probably fine with it too, as that movie is removed enough from the canon of the other Fox films that it could probably work relatively seamlessly. Terrible Domino Design not-withstanding. ... Course then Brolin would be playing both Thanos and Cable, and I've heard the MCU tries to avoid using the same actor twice (though there are a couple exceptions to that rule... and since Thanos is mostly CGI, it could work)
  24. Huh... I also technically work just down the street. Go figure. Though only recently, I used to work in Elk Grove, but my company moved to the Rolling Meadows/Schaumburg a couple months ago. Though... technically I also worked down the street in college (because in college I worked in Woodfield Mall, but that was a job or two ago.) Half the reason I check it so frequently is just because it's quasi-on the way home (with a very minor detour)
  25. Mildly Off-Topic, but I would really like for the next Informal Character Poll to be as-yet-unproduced X-Men (Not Villains, X-Men Proper). The last major unmade X-Man at the top of most of the old polls was Banshee, and we have 2 of him now. I'm curious to learn who the public see as the new frontrunner. If you need a jumping off point for this poll, you can start with the 14 names on the wishlist in my signature, lol. (Blink has been made... but 616 Blink hasn't.) I honestly think I'd limit it to X-Men proper, and leave out Splinter Teams. One could argue there's room for famous splinter-mutants who aren't-technically-X-Men, like Caliban, Strong Guy, Kane, Maverick or Pete Wisdom... but since we have most of the most popular proper X-Men, and don't have some of the standout splinter mutants (like they guys I mentioned)... I worry that popular splinter mutants would eclipse less popular X-Men and run away with the poll. And we still wouldn't have an answer as to who the most requested X-Man Proper is. If that makes any sense at all. (Wouldn't mind seeing a separate Splinter X-Team Poll for these guys though, now that I've planted the idea in my own head. I expect Strong Guy would win it, but who knows.) Alright, don't mean to hijack attention from the mystics though, just thought I'd drop suggestion for the next informal poll in the current informal poll. Carry on with the sorcery talk...
