  1. Is taking all these pictures making anyone else incredibly anxious to get their photos submitted/judged? I don't wanna wait two and a half more weeks! Hehe... Only good thing about waiting is... there's more time to get more taken. Still, I'm finding myself incredibly anxious about the handful I've done thus far.
  2. This is Tragedy Ann... She has come to squash your boy-mates under her photo-snapping boot heel. Hehe...
  3. Already started today but I was... am... did... will be... all of the above. All weekend. I live about 15 minutes from it, so I go every year. Luckily when it comes to Minimates all the earlier exclusives of the year are always sold as leftovers. *Thumbs Up*
  4. The 4-pack comes with Wasp's head, not the two pack. Would have made more sense to have Black Panther come with it, but that wasn't the case. Nor did Giant Man, for that matter. Yeah, in the five pack on display at WWC today, Spider-Man was holding a Brunette Severed Head. I honestly didn't know who's head it was supposed to be. (I never read the Zombie books) but I guess it was her, now that you mention it.
  5. Actually about that... The movie Harry Goblin they had on display had his... the surfboard glider thing... I dunno if the other pictures have shown him with it, but it was there. It struck me as odd, that he would have his, but that the regular Goblins wouldn't... in any case, I guess you could use the board for all three, if you're someone who's not too picky...
  6. Howdy folks, I just got back from Wizard World Chicago, Day 1, and they had 2 new minimates on display that as far as I know have not yet been shown, announced, or even seen anywhere... Scarlet Spider and Hobgoblin! PS. They also had on display all the same new ones from San Diego, and they were selling leftovers of the Zombie Daredevil & Giant-Man packs, as well as Movie Spidey Black/Red Packs. Not only did I score those, but I also got a Colossus and DOFP Wolverine from diamond! Woo hoo! My last missing Marvel Minimates! My set is once again complete until they release more new ones! (Marvel Anyway... damn Flash and Manhunter...) Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 PS. I have no idea how to make thumbnails for those... so suck it up and click'em...
  7. As an X-Men fan, I want these waves... Jubilee & The Inevitable Wolverine Variant Mimic & Changeling Classic Angel & Psylocke Classic Angel & Revanche Dazzler & Longshot Marrow & Callisto Gambit & Sunfire (Famine/AoA Costume) Gambit & Sunfire (Classic Costume)
  8. Obligitory Perv Joke: I realize Diamond Select doesn't do DC minimates, but why in god's name couldn't this Sculpted Chest Phenomenon have come about BEFORE they made Power Girl!? *Shakes Fist*
  9. Well, I'm bummed that I missed such an easy contest, but as I would have picked 54, and 54 didn't win anyway, I guess I don't have to feel bad. Grats to the winners.
  10. Marrow She's not -that- obscure, since she was an X-Man after all, but she's my favorite "B-List" X-Man, and she is rather obscure to non X-Fans. I love Marrow, and odds are she'll never be made. EDIT: PS. To some guy who posted about Maggott earlier, saying he just kind of disapeared and his story wasn't resolved. He got killed off in the "Weapon X" comic series that was out a couple years ago. I know that, because I read it, because it featured Marrow.
  11. I gotta say... just like most people, I like these waves overall... lots of new characters is always awesome. I always love new X-Men, so Havok, Polaris, Archangel, Apocalypse. Woo-hoo! Reason I post however is, I'm a bit (just a bit) upset with Archangel's variant... If they were going to do a variant of Warren, I'd have prefered one with Peach Skin and Feathered wings, and one with Blue skin and Metal wings. That way, we get a mix and match of parts to play with. As it stands, we just have 2 sets of metal wings now, and no normal Warren head to play with. I realize a lot of people who got acquianted with the X-Men through the cartoon in the 90s love his hip jazzy "Death" costume, and I like it too, but both his original form AND his current form are with flesh-colored skin and feathers... I wants me a normal Warren too Dag'nabit. The BEST option... I think, would be to release the Death version with 2 Heads, both of the heads currently displayed on the pair of Warrens that were shown. Because sometimes, we'd see Death without his Cowl, hair out, so both heads would actually work. Meanwhile, make the variant using the "Angel" costume body, with a flesh-colored head and feathered wings (mold stolen/modified from DC's Hawkgirl figure). Then we have all the parts we could possibly need to make everyone's favorite Warren. However, I don't think they will, because that would require changing the prototypes, using more molds, and a bigger plastic budget for the spare head... *Sigh* But it'd be cool if they did... Oh well... can always hope that they'll release classic angel someday...
  12. I'm pretty sure they all have silver hair. I know mine does, and I remember people complaining about it shortly after they 1st came out. All the box pictures show him with black hair, but all the actual figures have silver, I believe. Incase you didn't realize, it's because he actually did have silver hair in the movie when he transformed, not black, so silver is more accurate for the toy. Though I agree, it just ends up looking weird somehow... accurate or not.
  13. Did they actually have all of them in stock!? Or just the common ones? I just looked, and they're all sold out except Batman... I couldn't even find a listing for Nightwing or Batgirl... Please tell me he was already long sold out, and I didn't just miss another opportunity at getting a Flash because the first three people to read this post each bought up 100 for scalping.
  14. Ditto (And I even have a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Media Arts & Animation) But also... 1st time questioner... 1) Semi-hypothetical, long-term, long-winded question: I'm a huge X-Men fan, let me say 1st. That said, my favorite mates are always new, previously unproduced X-Men faces. Your Cables & Bishops. Rogues & Icemans. Shadowcats & Beasts. That said, I figure a time will come when you start to run thin on popular unproduced new X-Men faces, who don't have mates already. Basically now, we're down to Gambit, Psylocke and Archangel. Then Maybe Jubilee... Havok... Polaris... double maybe for Dazzler and Longshot, but even that's pushing it. But beyond those guys, you start treading the line into the B-List territory... Banshee, Marrow, Sage, Cannonball, Sunfire, Maggott, Stacy-X. My question is, lets assume, and hope, that the marvel minimates line goes on for another 100 years. Once you've dried up all the A-listers (like the 1st few names I mentioned) and done so many non X-Men series that you just NEED to do a new set of X-Men, do characters like Marrow have any hope in the world? Or do the old classics just keep getting recycled into new versions forever and ever? Will we still get new faces in the distant future, or just new Wolverines, Storms, Cyclopses, & Jeans 'til the end of time? Is the X3 series a sign of the future? (X3 was great looking btw, but I'd have prefered them as a boxed set, and new comic book faces for the actual series, rather than new designs for 6 already made characters. But hey, that's just me, and movie licensces are at least a cool unique way to redo a character.) So anyway, just how far down into that mutant bucket do you figure you're willing to scrape? Just the bulk of the good stuff, or all the crust clinging to the sides as well? Is Thunderbird the last bone you'll ever throw us X-Geeks? How 'bout a target series like that spidey one? I could see a ton of X-Men being easy to make from existing parts. Pack a Jubilee with a Wolverine. A Forge with a Storm. Those packs make sense AND you sneak a new face out, piggybacking on a bestseller. Then everybody wins! Hooray! Hehe. (PS. Ideally I'd like every X-Man ever, but this was also my longwinded way of saying, "Jubilee & Marrow! Pleeeease" Just to shamelessly throw in my own personal uber-wants.) 2) Since you've done comic book mates for quite a while, and are now doing a handful of TV ones like BSG and 24, I thought I'd combine the two concepts, and I'd pitch you the stupidest great idea I ever had... "Who Wants to be a Superhero?" minimates. I want mini Fat Mommas and Monkey Women littering my desk, and I know quite a few folks who wouldn't mind a mini Major Victory. Dark Enforcer could be Iron Enforcer's variant! Stan Lee could be a con exclusive! I don't know how familiar you were with the show when it was on regularly last year, but what are the (probably astronomically low) odds this would ever happen? PS. Wacky side-question: I attend Wizard World Chicago every year, and from these Q&A's, I get the impression you usually do too. I usually hit the diamond booth and buy a buncha mates, and there's usually a handful of guys I recognize as the same people every year manning it. I imagine one is probably you, and that we've actually met a few times as I purchased your wares, but I don't know which one. Which guy are you? Ya'll should invest in some name tags. (PS. I'm aware I could always ask at the con, but I, like many comic-book-con goers, am a socially-inept hermit, who doesn't engage in extensive conversation with strangers unless it's absolutely necissary... I'm also burned by the sun...) PS2. Thank for answering these fan questions for us geeks, and my apologies on the length of mine. I've always been way too wordy when I type, I know, I'm terribly sorry. Heh. EDIT: GOD does that look longer now that I see it posted than it felt as I typed it... again, sorry. : /
  15. Some people incorrectly advertise the Wal-Mart exclusive Black Spidey as 6", but I saw a ton at Wal-Mart today, and they are most assuredly 5"... which is why I didn't buy one. (Whose dumbass idea was it at hasbro to make an entire line of toys for what is probably Marvel's biggest movie franchise out of scale with every toy we've collected for the past god knows how many years. (Since the 1st X-Men movie toys, whenever that was. Those were one of the 1st lines to make the jump to 6")
  16. So essentially, yes, one can get a variant from them, and theortically, since they just pull the sets from cases 1 by 1, the odds are about 1 in 4 that you will.
  17. Okay, so just through random fiddling with my minimates, I noticed something about my Power Man mate that I had never caught before. (Power Man, not Luke Cage, just as a clarification. From the set with Iron Fist.) Upon inspecting his legs VERY closely, it almost seems as if his right leg is painted blue, and his left molded in blue plastic. His right leg has a flat, paintlike texture too it. Like The Thing from the Fantastic Four con boxed set, or the heads of most of the series 10 figures, like Spider-Woman, Black Cat, & Silver Sable. His left leg, however, is plain blue molded plastic, like many mates. Only his yellow boot seems painted on (And is a slightly different yellow than his right, which I also just now noticed.) When I hold them up to the light, and watch how it reflects off them, it's even more apparent. The left has that plastic sheen, the right doesn't. So... it just seems weird to me... that one leg would be manufactured one way, and the other a different way... and I figured I'd post about it... I looked at the review pics on Minimate Central, and they almost look like they might be the same way (maybe). Check your Power Man's, does anyone else have this going on with theirs?
  18. Yep, mine too. (Chicagoland Area) Picked up a Beast and Shadowcat, even though I already had them, because my Beast had a loose arm that was falling off all the time, and my Kitty had poorly painted hair with alot of white plastic showing through on the sides. So now I have good versions of both on the cheap.
  19. As I said in this thread... http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?showtopic=2263 I hit 2 stores today, and I found both Marvel Series 14 (X3) and DC Series 2 today, as well as a restock of DC Series 1 and Marvel Series 12 (New Avengers). I live in the suburbs east of Chicago. Not exactly east coast, I know, but definately not west coast. And we didn't get them last week. So I scored Dark Phoenix, Raft Sentry, and a slew of other mates I wanted this morning, and all it cost me was $110 worth of credit card debt and a little piece of my soul.
  20. Wheras I, had the exact opposite going for me today... The comic book store I go to for Minimates had both the X3 series and DC Series 2 in today. I was there when they unlocked the door, and I was 1st to get my hands on all of them. I got a full set of X3 mates, and the Power Girl/Dr. Fate and Robin/Penguin sets... I may get the other 2 DC sets later, but I didn't want to spend a ton of cash today for characters I don't really care much about. (I just wanted Power Girl and Penguin badly.) There's ALSO, another comic book shop about 5 minutes from that place, so I hit it too, just to see if I could snag an extra Dark Phoenix variant, but they didn't get any X3 mates today. HOWEVER, they did have more DC Series 2 in, and they had restocks of Marvel Series 12 & DC Series 1. SO, I also got series 12, which I originally missed, including Raft Sentry, as well as a Joker & Harley set. (Again, just because I wanted Harley badly. The other three I can wait on.) So, I plucked 2 complete Marvel sets I didn't have, as well as assorted DC's this morning. All and all a fine haul. PS. BUT, If it makes you feel any better, my news isn't all good. Robin's leg broke off straight from pulling him out of the package, and I didn't notice 'til about 3 hours later, but Power Girl's left leg has the paint apps for her right leg, so her underwear line is going in the wrong direction. So I'll have to take them back later this week. (Which makes me sad, because they may already be sold out of replacements, so I may just have to return them and find new ones elsewhere... and I'm REALLY attached to Power Girl and Penguin already... they're so neat, I hope I don't have to give'm up...) Plus, all together I put almost $110 on my credit card which I don't really have the budget to be spending (damn my addiction) so that hurt. AND, both stores charged $12.99 for the variants, which while it's still a decent price in the long run (better than ebay anyway) pissed me off, since many other places just charge retail price. (Damned comic book stores, gouging on newly released items the day they hit the shelves.) Still though, I did have a great day from a hunting point of view.
  21. I've only ever ordered 1 set from AFX, and I did get a variant. I forget what series number it was... The one with Spider-Woman, and Sandman, and Black Cat and whatnot. I got the Black Spider-Woman. HOWEVER, She turned out to be one of those infamous leg-snappers we hear so much about. Broke the day I got her. I e-mailed them about a replacement, and they, more substituted than replaced it with a normal Spider-Woman set. HOWEVER, luckily, I already HAD a Black Spider-Woman which I got at wizard world, so it wasn't really MY figure I broke. So I wasn't too broken up about it. It was really the Spider-Carnage I wanted in the 1st place. And low and behold, I ended up with two. (I figured, I buy a set, get my figure, and sell the spares on ebay. They were still new at the time, so it wasn't hard to turn a profit, or break even if nothing else, and heck, I get a shot at a variant... which I got. So yay!) SO, I ended up repairing the broken Spider-Woman and selling her off loose for a hefty profit. I ALSO sold all the other spare figures as well, for icing on the cake, save my Spider-Carnage. So yay. (PS. What happened was the Peg in her knee joint split clean in the middle. I popped it out with a poker, and replaced it with a non-broken peg from a random mate, I forget who, and she was fixed. It was plain white, so I want to say it was from an Emma... Just incase you wondered.) But yes, I did get a variant in the one set I ordered.
  22. PM Sent, and thank you. Lemmie know that you got it if you did. For some reason it's not appearing in my sent messages folder, but I saved it and can resend if you didn't get it.
  23. As I said, my Dawn and my Witchblade each have two right arms... so I need a left arm for each of them. Dawn's is just plain red, but Witchblade's has the witchbladey armor paint apps on it. Don't need the hands, or the armor, or the accesories though, just the arm, so I can get their elbows swinging the right way. Thanks for your help, btw, and thanks for lookin'.
  24. I'm sorry to make up a brand new thread for this, because I'm 100% positive I'm not the first person whose had a part issue, but I'm kinda at the end of my rope, so I hope you won't be too hard on me... Anyway, I had the unfortunate problem of having not just 1, but 2, of the indymates in my set, Dawn and Witchblade, come with 2 right arms, instead of left arms, resulting in their left elbows bending the wrong way... and I'm sure it was factory error, not tampering, because the Witchblade still has the paint apps for her left arm on the piece... it's just not a left arm... the elbey-bone don't bend rightways... Normally, like anyone, my first instinct would have been to take them back to the retailer for an exhcange, however, I happened to buy them from a con vendor the last day of Wizard World Chicago '06, and didn't realize that they had a problem until I got them home later that day and opened them... thus... the con was closed... and I had no place to return them too. So, immediately after the con, I tried e-mailing art asylum and diamond select to see if there was anything either of them could do about it. I never got a response, and eventually the issue just kindof faded from my mind... But recently, it resurfaced, when I was reading an FAQ with Chuck, and he mentioned one could bring part issues to their attention, and they would do their best to solve them. I've heard him say similar things in the past, and actually, at Wizard World '04 (I live 15 min away, I go every year), I bought a Gamma Hulk & Leader set from diamond's booth, and upon opening it discovered Hulk had no hair piece. I went back to the booth later that day, and the man there (maybe it was Chuck for all I know, I don't know what he looks like, but I see this guy there every year) was more than happy to pop the hair off one of their display figures and hand it too me, with no complaint, which made me very happy and relieved with diamond. However, in the FAQs, Chuck gave no real specific... avenue, in which to register... problems... and it's not like my Hulk problem, where I can just waltz up to the Con booth at any time I want now. (At least not until August...) And as I said, I tried generic customer support e-mails from both websites back in August, and never got a response. So I figured I'd see if anyone here could help point me in a better direction... who can I contact to see about getting some left arms for these mini-girls? Is there a more specific e-mail I could write to? Anyone got Chuck's phone number? (Heh) Short of buying a whole new set on ebay (which I really dont want to do for 2 arms) I don't really know what to do about this...
  25. BS I didn't even know the answer to this question. Interesting! I am a completionist but I'll doubt I'll ever get a Gold or Silver Spider-Man of any sort. And I have a feeling a new one will be showing up this summer. Gold Thor? Gold Hulk? Nah. Gold Wolverine. I can already hear Chuck's evil giggles crackling with sinister delight. Naw, it'd never be one of them. Way too many parts. Too much money for a promo. It'd be a quote unquote "Blank" minimate body. with no helms or claws or what have you... My money has always been on Bronze Spider-Man or Clear Spider-Man, though I hear Clear plastic can be a bit more expensive too. Then again last year diamond didn't have any special promos... it was DC Direct giving out Green Lanterns at the cons. Diamond didn't have their usual freebie... so who knows, maybe it'll be nothing again.
