  1. On reflection, it's really not a surprise that this line has some problems with 'mates seeming too similar. Between the military uniforms and the whole multiple copies of a Cylon thing, it was bound to happen. They did a marvelous job with Sharon/Boomer though-different clothes and expressions while still keeping the same basic facial features. Thanks for posting the pictures.
  2. To be honest, I'd only really been interested in getting the Three/Sharon pack, since all the rest seemed to be "quick customs" of previous characters. And then I watched more episodes of the show...and need to get Tyrol for spoileriffic reasons. But looking at these...Helo looks so much like Apollo, right down to the cheekbones. I'm torn.
  3. The Fourth World as a dream wave? Consider throwing in Granny Goodness and Darksaad and you've got my vote. Glad you decided to join in.
  4. Alright, I didn't really care before, except to be disappointed in DST for cancelling another line after taking pre-orders (seriously guys, figure that out before you start promising items to people). Now that an Indiana Jones custom has been thwarted? Now I'm disappointed. Of course, DST could always release an official Indiana Jones line to assauge my grief...
  5. Despite the fact that I am definitely broke, I'm gonna have to say: Bite your tongue! Then again, I'm also the person who reacts violently whenever someone says, "What else could go wrong?" Uttering (or typing) some things aloud is just asking for it. (And yes, I realize I'm a loon. )
  6. I'm surprised there haven't been more complaints over the fact that Sandman's arms are entirely sculpted, versus the older one which only had the hand piece change. Although personally I think this looks better and is more indicative of how he appears in the comics/movie. And yeah, skinny Peter Parker shouldn't have a sculpted torso.
  7. Is there any chance someone could post pics of the deconstructed legs? I've got a pretty good idea, but a visual would be a great deal of help. Also, how are you prying it apart? Are tweezers being used or am I just completely confused?
  8. Red Skull is great, although T'Challa is my definite favourite. Especially since I really can't tell which minimate pieces you used for the fabulous custom. The fact that he features a Batman style slip-over removable mask just completes the overall awesomeness.
  9. Hey, here in Southern California it's a reasonable name. I have also seen blue-tac for sale I think-is it a bright blue color? I've always preferred museum putty since its white color means it can be sharpied over if it sticks out. Quake hold is a concrete grey, pretty discrete for a product that has a neon yellow lightning bolt font for its logo!
  10. I personally use earthquake hold/museum putty to hold on the hairpieces of the earlier 'mates who don't have pegs in their hairpieces. A small amount works best as too much creates a lump that makes their hair appear to be levitating above their heads. Which version of Robin does everyone think the C3 Robin is? The DC wave 2 Robin is clearly early Dick Grayson, what with the man-panties and all. The costume of C3 Robin, with the covered arms and legs reminds me of Tim Drake, but the stupid grin is definitely not him. I'm intensely curious to know what everyone else thinks, since if it's meant to be Tim I just might have to buy it, regardless of the facial expression.
  11. I'm thrilled beyond belief at these two pieces of news. Minimates Central is the main reason I'm so obsessed with minimates now, and thus the cause of me even being on this forum. If it weren't for you, I arguably would have been finished as soon as I had purchased all of the LOTR 'mates. All hail Minimates Central!
  12. I wouldn't go quite that far. I didn't mean to sound as if I don't love and adore minimates, I'm just trying to provide some constructive critism for them. Overall, I am in awe of the latest batch of minimates, and am head overheels over what is to come. TPTB hopefully won't interpret this thread as a hint to stop the flood anytime soon!
  13. Don't worry, you were just fine . The swearing thing is totally not a problem-I have no compunctions against it, although since in real life, I am one of the primary caretakers for my autistic younger sister, who loves to repeat anything she overhears ad nauseum, I tend to keep mum unless I feel really comfortable. This led to a man at my old job literally falling off his ladder the first time he heard me curse (providing hilarity for all).
  14. That right there was totally worth the time it took to hook up my scanner.
  15. I'm really curious about this as well. Especially since the first wave of Star Trek 'mates is already on the site, and the first exclusive Starbuck for the Battlestar Galactica line are already on the site. Mostly I'm just hoping that the DC line gets covered!
  16. Oh yes! I've got one of the BSG3 sets ordered from online, but I've now decided I want at least one of the others, and now I can just saunter into my LCS and get it! Score.
  17. Alright, this is a pic of me looking a little more dressed up than usual. I typically have totally flat, straight hair and I hate wearing makeup, so you can usually see my delightful ::rolls eyes:: collection of acne scars and zits. Other than that, this is pretty much me. This is my first time posting a picture, so please be nice if I totally screw it up.
  18. Hawkman/Hawkgirl's wings have stayed on way better than I've expected-no problems with either, although they shift around a bit. I've always been really careful with testing the joints/connections on all my figures though ever since my Kitty Pryde figure had both her legs snap off, despite prepping them. Not trying to force the wings all the way into the sockets has worked well-no risk of snapping off, but they still stay in perfectly well on their own. Because of that, I can twirl mine around from overlapping/wings semi-folded to totally unfurled gliding position. Good luck.
  19. Yes, the DST site still has the Ghost Rider wave up for pre-order/purchase. Everywhere else lists this wave as cancelled. They really aren't a very good source of info.
  20. Personally, I like Stargate: Atlantis better, so I hope if they do Stargate: SG-1 they will do a SGA boxset too. I just want to see how they do John Sheppard's hair, especially since they did such a good job on Lee Adama's from BSG.
  21. Considering the price of LEGO sets (all the figures I want seem to be part of the giantic ones) and the cost of importing Kubricks, I'm not sure that it would be less expensive. Plus, when you place them side by side with actual minimates, they often look a lot cruder. 'Sides I've got it under control.... I operate out of a college mailroom, and have become infamous since the day that I received 4 packages in one day containing a total of 14 minimates! (I try to open them there so I don't fill up my trashcan with all the wrapping). I opened them over the next two days, since at the rate I'm going I won't be able to afford many more.
  22. Don't buy it then. Simple as. It's not quite that easy though, since DST is very good about combining a retread with a new character in one package, and loose minimates are harder to find than you'd think. Sure stuckakid has a lot on their site, but the vast majority of them are in fact sold out and not actually available.
  23. It's not the idea of doing variants that is the problem, it is the fact that the Marvel line has shown that DST doesn't know how to do variants without spilling over into excess repetition. Instead of doing different versions of a wide variety of characters, they seem have focused solely on Spiderman, the Hulk, Wolverine, the Thing, and Cyclops. The figures stand at 13 Wolverines, goddess only knows how many Spidermans (depending on if you count the exclusives like gold spidey), seven Hulks, seven Cyclops, and five Things (the last doesn't bother me as much). If I've left something out or am totally confused let me know, as that is a major possibility.
  24. That certainly fits in with your icon/avatar!
  25. It's not just you. For all that everyone raves about how well the character/actors are conveyed in such a simple manner, to me it's just not that impressive. As someone with only a minor connection to Star Trek, only the "Trouble with Tribbles" Kirk and the Spock character really look like they stepped off the screen (and were then shrunk). The others just don't have enough detail to really interest me.
