  1. She was in the New Avengers book for Bendis' final year or so -- that's a pretty big corner!
  2. Bummer about Game of Thrones, but it's good to hear they were considering it at least. I wonder if Mattel would be more open to licensing out MOTU whenever their Classics line wraps up?
  3. You do it to yourself, you do. And that's what really hurts.
  4. The design on the last one holds up great, just the mismatched paint job kind of wrecks the mate for some of us. One of those rare cases where I'd be happy to get an "update" because of production quality, not outdatedness. But I'm excited whatever it is, any Spidey is good Spidey. And I'm hoping Rescue for the Iron Man set. She's been requested, I don't know about "highly"...
  5. I prefer the Woman-Things.
  6. I would actually buy those last two...
  7. Zach, if you read this, monkey speaks for all of us when he requests Jeffrey Combs Minimates. That Andorian guy, the Jem Hadar leader guy, the Ferengi, and whoever else he might have ever played in any of those shows. Also, we demand a Re-Animater box set. Wow, never realized that was the same actor, which I guess means he's a good one! Andorian dude was way cooler than Weyoun though. If DST made him and T'Pol, that'd be enough Enterprise to make me happy. Same with DS9, all of them would be great but give me a Kira and Odo and I won't join in on all the crying. TNG though, I want them all except Wesley
  8. Thanks for narrowing the search Zach, found a pic, gives a better look at the shark too.
  9. Happy to hear this line isn't dead! Here's comic pics of the cheetah, hammerhead, and maybe the cow? I couldn't google up a giraffe pic. Can't wait to see the mate designs, and here's hoping for the penguin or rabbit or orca in a TRU wave...
  10. Haha, he is kind of the worst but I'd probably still buy a Wheelie, just because he was the only legit Transformer I owned as a kid. Other than him it was all Gobots and Rock Lords.
  11. Galvatron would be awesome. Now that they're putting out all these great versions, it's even more of a shame they can't do a proper Bumblebee.
  12. Nuts, looks like I was googling up the wrong tree! Good research, Zach.
  13. That's funny, I didn't even notice the one in the background was Bert. After some more googling looks like they're both from the movie... Between them and Bengali, somebody in character design sure liked the colour blue.
  14. Well, depending on that timezone stuff TBT! mentioned -- hope you had/have/are having a good one, Nessie!
  15. They showed up in the first five episodes of season 2, which were also aired as a TV movie called Thundercats Ho! in the States... I can't remember if the episodes were shown in the UK, but I know you could buy a VHS tape of the movie there because I had one when I was a kid, and I definitely had a Bengali figure too. Bert was the blue Berbil from the original toyline, but after some googling it looks like the blue Berbil that appears in the movie was actually Bob, like Slacker said. Any blue Berbil is good with me though! Bert vs Bob:
  16. Awww yeah, blue Berbil for the win! Actually doing a little chair dance.
  17. Well, spoilers for an upcoming Batman comic, but the scenario where might get me to buy one...
  18. Yeah and I think it also proved to Hasbro/Takara, with no risk on their part, that the market could sustain multiple high-end releases a year -- which is why we've been seeing such a big expansion in the Masterpiece line lately. In a roundabout kind of way the 3rd party trend has ended up making them money.
  19. And Masterpiece is just the high-end line of Transformers that Takara makes in Japan, some of which are later released over here by Hasbro, yes.
  20. Congrats to you and Mrs. K80!
  21. None of the Retaliation stuff they've released so far is worth a dime to me, but that upcoming wave they showed at Toy Fair has some awesome figures, with the Sunbow style Storm Shadow and Cobra Commander, and the Crimson Guard. I'm sure I'll be paying more than $10 a figure to preorder them somewhere. Price only really becomes an issue when I'm not actually enjoying collecting something anymore, and at that point I'll just drop the line. So Dinobot, maybe that's just where you're at with Joes?
  22. I agree Cardiac could look very cool as a mate. My big wants are fun z-listers like White Rabbit, Grizzly, Hypno-Hustler. Oh and Harry Osborn! Chameleon and Black Cat could do with updates, the rest I'm pretty much fine with what we've got.
  23. If you look past the colorfulness (and Panthro's gigantic ears), they don't look that much different from GI Joe or He-Man or other cartoons of the time, at least to me. I just think cartoons with "realistic" anatomy translate better to Minimates, because in cartoons with very stylized anatomy, the look and feel of the characters is so closely tied to that style.
  24. Yeah, my issue is more with how stylized cartoons translate to mates I guess, it's not really anime-specific. I never thought they'd be able to capture the Disney "look" either, and the Pan mates kind of confirmed that for me (YMMV). I agree the main T-Cats worked great (I wasn't as big on how the mutants translated), but if you look at the cartoon's character models, they're drawn pretty much as realistic people, once you look past the colors/outfits. Using a Dinobot favorite as an example, I can't really picture a Sailor Moon minimate looking "right", that's all. The bigger animes that come to my mind, like Bleach, One Piece, DBZ, all have their own stylized looks like that. Something more "realistic" like Akira, I could totally see it.
