  1. Thanks man! About the decals, lots of my customs are painted bodies with a clear decal over the top. Psylocke, most of the Brotherhood members, most of Alpha Flight, Marvel Girl, Banshee, most of the Deadly Genesis mates and more are painted. I find that the quality of the paint finish affects how well the clear decal lays over the painted surface. I sand down any bodies I have painted to try and leave as smooth a finish as possible. It's only more recent customs of mine that have been made using full chest decals.
  2. Thanks! I can't actually take credit for the idea for Kyle's mask. Mrjasontodd had the Iron Man mask in mind when he commissioned me.
  3. Hey, thanks! I was going to wait for him to make his way to you, but appreciate the picture. Hopefully they should be with you soon, I'm looking forward to the challenge of the new set you have suggested!
  4. I'm actually really happy about the Age of X mates. I haven't been so excited about an X-Men storyline for a while (Mike Carey is writing it) and some of the character re-designs are stunning. Admittedly, they haven't chosen the most striking re-designs for the mates, but I am hopeful we might see more in the future. The re-designs for some of the other characters (Hellion, Psylocke, Colossus, Dazzler, Pixie and more) I find really visually interesting.
  5. Thanks Bob! Well, I guess now is as good a time as any to post a picture of my updated British Psylocke. The official release (which I never thought we would see) has just been announced at Toyfair. Thanks for all the comments!
  6. That was a really fun read! Thanks for all your hard work.
  7. Yeah, I did try printing the decal with grey to begin with, but my printer isn't that great and the colours just didn't look right. I can deal with the blue for now until I upgrade my printer. Here is the next in my Dark X-Men customs, Cloak. The cloak came from Black Queen Jean, with a lot of milliput added. He has a slightly trimmed Captain Britain haipiece. Here's the sculpt from the back. Thanks for looking!
  8. I have a bunch of half-made stuff in my parts bin at the minute, but once I get myself organised I will make a FA Rogue. I really like the design on the Secret Wars poster (was kinda hoping we would get an official one), and it's the least I could do after the amazing decals Serge made for me recently.

  10. Wow, another set of amazing Thundercats customs. They are just beautiful! Tygra is my personal favourite of the bunch but they are all stunning. Can't wait to see more!
  11. QUOTE (Donny B @ Jan 17 2011, 06:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I may not have given her a 4, but I certainly agree with your assessment about the head looking enormous due to the hair piece (the same problem I have with most of the Thor mates) and the detailing is too intense in her face and the entirety of her chest block. I had never thought about the bracelets adding to the bulk, but when I took them off, I realized that paint would have been the better way to go. After reading your review, it gave me ideas on how to tweak it: I switched out the head with wave 6's Jean figure (and added the detailing for the mask) I trimmed the shoulder pads down to just the shoulder parts, and glued them on so that she could have head mobility (and to show the neck, adding to a more slender look) and I altered the detailing on the chest block (via photoshop, for now, since painting would take me forever and I wanted to see how it would look before doing all the work) and I took the bracelets off and painted the wrists. I'm less confident about any detail work I might add to the legs. I don't know if adding anything to it would help... Overall, it's not enough to prop it up to a 10, but it's better than a 4 or 5 (imo, at least) That looks so much better. I think the prototype pics of Jean added to the disappointment of the finished mate. I painted the crotch piece of mine and added decals of the pockets to the sides of her legs. I think I may add your modifications to my own.
  12. Johnny and She-Hulk looks awesome! What head/hair did you use for Johnny?
  13. Thanks! Here you go. The back section of the head is the original Killowog head. Here's a quick Modern Wasp I managed to put together today. She was made with Gwen Stacy, Rachel Grey and Wasp parts. Nessex, thanks for the comments again, appreciate it. I have made a few commissions so far, these DC ones are probably my most ambitious so far though.
  14. The hairpiece works really well, better than it does on Storm, I think.
  15. Sure, but you would have to wear the dress. I don't have the legs. Here are my first DC customs. I don't really read or follow DC but it was great to do something a little out of my comfort zone. They are a commission for mrjasontodd, he has kindly allowed me to post pictures. They should be on their way to him within a couple of weeks, I am just waiting for a final part to complete Kyle Rayner. First up is Sinestro in his Sinestro Corps costume. He was made from a repainted Sinestro minimate with modified hair and a chest decal. Next up is Sinestro Corps Karu-Sil. Repainted minimate with modified Champions Black Widow hair, modified Black Queen Jean Grey head with decals for chest and mouth. Finally is Sinestro Corps Arkillo. He was made frrom a repainted Killowog minimate. His hands are modified Lady Deathstrike and his head was sculpted onto the original Killowog head. Here is a group shot of the three Sinestro Corps together. Thanks again for looking!
  16. Thanks again for all the comments! Quick update, am atill working through my Dark X-Men customs and here's Mimic. He was made with Angel, Sue Storm and Cyclops parts. I used Luke's plain male chest decal and added the M.
  17. Excellent work! Seems there is a lot of love on the boards for the Outback X-Men, my favourite era too. I need a Longshot and a Colossus to complete my set, yours have spurred me on to try and get them finished!
  18. Yes, please! TM2, I have a half-painted Black Widow torso in my parts bin. I was going to use it for Yelena before I remembered I had a spare X-23.
  19. Thanks! I cut off most of the hair from the FA Jean mate, leaving the basic shape. Then I rolled lots of little different-sized balls of milliput and covered the base completely. Finally I textured them with a toothpick and the end of a thin paintbrush. I wasn't sure it would work, and I'm sure there must be an easier way, but I'm happy with how it turned out. I can send a pic from the back if you like.
  20. I'm not familiar with some of the characters either, but they look fantastic! Also love they grey BW. I will be using the decals too, thanks for sharing!
  21. Sounds good, if you want to send me what you have currently, I can work on it too. Will do! I made one in Adobe and another in Microsoft Publisher. Neither are perfect but what I have is ok for now. Little update today, mainly modifications or customs that didn't take very long. I am working on some DC commissions at the minute so haven't had much time to customise for myself. Here is Kitty Pryde, made from FA Jean body, 24's Michelle Dessler face and sculpted hair. Black Widow II, Yelena Belova with Captivity Six head and hair, modified X-23 body and Black Widow belt/wrists. Modified Classic Firestar. I made her Avengers version a few weeks ago, and wanted to make the Classic version more similar to her appearances in the cartoon. She has Pepper Potts hair and a Hawkeye mask. I changed the head of the Betsy Braddock minimate, using a Magdalena minimate. I love the original but wasn't sure about the Moon Knight cape on her. Finally, I updated my very first custom , Dazzler, with a jacket and new decal. I was trying to make her look similar to her appearance in the Konami arcade game. I think a few other board members have done the same. Thanks again for looking!
  22. Wow....amazing customs of one of my favourite cartoons as a kid. Looking forward to seeing more! Am working on a Longshot myself at the minute, yours is awesome. The decals on Dazzler are fantastic too.
  23. That's just made my day. Really flattered by the comments, thanks.
  24. Oh yeah, I forgot Kurt! He is with my Excalibur mates until the new set comes out. On Banshee I made a decal for the inside of his cape, I was thinking of just enlarging it a little and trying it out on the back. Once I have had a go I will post a pic, then if it's any good I will just send you the decal.
