  1. okay, being a rookie around here i thought it would be a fun idea for the veterans to do a vote for the best topics in the forum. it would be fun to see what people think the most interesting topic is, which topic do they wish was not in here, the most funny one, etc. or people could just reply here with the one topic that they will never forget. anyway, this is my crazy idea, what do you people think?
  2. i am saying there are exceptions. after all there are exceptions to every rule in life. and i did imply that limited stuff can be a good investment. yeah i know what you all are thinking. i argue with my own previous opinions all the time finding flaws. on the other hand here (lol i am doing it again) for long term investment in toys, the way to go is vintage, once all the people who really want that black spidey minimate(to bring it back to this discussion) have it then the price will decrease. hope my way of thinking does not frustrate you guys relaying on toys as investments is the part that is foolish. and you know wallbreaker2.0, i will look at this tomarrow and be like pickle you moron.
  3. yes, there are those exceptions, but look at all the other toys from the same line that are worth less then they were to purchase. if you have some sort of "in" or are great at predicting what will be worth investing in, then more than most the time you loose out. unlike, say, all 1977 star wars toys, no.1 G.I.JOES, vintage barbie, red line hot wheels. those will never depreciate in value if kept in the right condition. More often then not in the modern market it is about being the first to have it that sets off the high price tag in the secondary market. On the other hand though, if you are great at predicting what people will pay big bucks for (i.e. TF movie regular bumblebee, mcquarrie star wars, littlest pet shop black scotty, hot wheels "super" treasure hunts) then you can turn a quick profit. a very nice profit.
  4. it is how i found this place. i am going to miss the wonderful reviews something fierce! Thank you Danny for the reviews on the packaging as well. after seeing the review for the battle damaged captain america and the punisher, i had to have that box. you do a fantastic job on reviewing toys. like i said already, i am going to miss them something fierce! good luck and good hunting
  5. In today's market, it is very foolish. yup, you said it. everything is so mass produced (but not the limited stuff of like 500 pieces of course) that there is no investment in modern toys. i have hot wheel collectors go crazy to get cars first thinking it is an investment. the only type of investment (if there can be one) in toys, in my opinion, is vintage toys. (1970's and back) oh, and it is nice to see we agree on something Reideen1313, and i did enjoy our debate very much.
  6. how about the evil DRAKUL KARFANG from a league of one. anybody want to see a minimate dragon? If the do make a Brimstone, i will totally be front of the bus for that!
  7. i just found out that marvel wave 16 is going to be august 29. i want my Loki and Thor now! oh, and i found out at comiclist.com in the extended forecast section
  8. hehehe. nope, not quite. and i am talking about the Miyazawa stuff (love his art)
  9. oooops sorry guys so my question is easy for those who read mary jane: in the first issue of mary jane, what is the name of the coffee shop they, well, drink coffee in?
  10. It looks like it has been pushed back again until august 15
  11. i did not know that my opinion would create quite the stir. i did not say that DST makes money off of the secondary market. What i tried to say was that the quickest way to turn a profit would be to create variants so they could sell the most possible cases when they are first released, and by doing this they are aware that by making variants there will be a high demand for them in the long run. cause and effect. When the new collector sees that some older ones are going for a high price, they will be compelled to purchase more from newer sets. In some way they do benefit from the secondary market, just not a direct profit. And i am pretty sure the McFarlane sports variants are older than marvel legends.
  12. I was also thinking that a Sinestro minimate max would be fantastic. Fantastic idea: there could be a normal minimate inside a minimate max. The chest would open so you could take him out. i would sooooooo buy that!
  13. well, that all depends on how many TRU wants to order (which is a lot). The last time they had G1's in Canada, they did not sell so well and they all went on clearance twice. Once the collectors get their fill, the hype will die down and they will be easy to find. More often then not the Canadian TRU exclusives are ordered in large numbers, so more will be on the way but i will look into how far into the year they will be releasing new cases. ...... okay, in the Canadian TRU stores, about 2100 more pieces are on the way and they will be sent to the stores right through till November. hope this answers your question wallbreaker2.0. i also just saw the movie and.................wow!!!!!!!
  14. and i have been put in my place i did not explain myself right with my rant, and i did not say that it is to drive a secondary market. i meant that knowing that collectors want the whole set and in some cases just the varient, that the retailors will order more cases and increase their own profit. And just by making varients they are aware that there will be a high demand for them in a secondary market if the line is successful. and i bet if DST distributed the DC line, there would be varients. but less we forget DCD makes these and i am pretty sure DST does not see a profit from them. ha ha ha. alright now i am being a smart ***. we should start our own thread reideen1313 so we can bicker back and forth and let this get back to spider-man
  15. um, to answer the question leroy asked. is it Factor X #1? is it pork grind
  16. you said it TBT! but i use comiclist.com to find out what is coming, i like it more
  17. This i have to argue with. The whole point of making a chase varient is with the hopes that more people will want it, thus creating a demand in the secondary market, thus meaning they will sell whole cases of twelve just for one piece. By having an open mind to the secondary market, they have the option of making a larger profit, which they do because of the chase varients. I mean, why slap "limited edition" or "varient" on the package if you don't care about where it goes once it leaves the warehouse? Just to be clear, i agree with the rest of what you are saying, but you don't seem to understand how a collectable toy company looks at ways to make a profit, espically a small company. If i sound like an jerk and offend you, i do apologize.

  22. My grail at the moment for minimates is the C3 throne room battle in the box. I want it so bad  Also On the non-minimate front is a promo poster for the Battlestar Galactica miniseries. You know, the one with the big eye of Tricia Helfer.
  23. first wizkids has one,and now the marvel legends BAF version is coming out. where did this demand for fing fang foom come from?
  24. Great, thank you guys for clearing this up for me
  25. i was looking at the minimate database and saw that the toys r us four packs with the hidden figure had an open front in which to see the figures. my question is: are the four packs without the hidden figure the same style? the one i have has a closed box like the two packs where you can't see inside. -pickle
