  1. SECOND! I'm still waiting for a Guardians of the Galaxy boxset to get announced (and with Rocket in UMvC3 maybe it's time...)
  2. Ditto! I couldn't have said it better myself. Same here. Plus (as I have said before), some of the Spidey costumes we've gotten in the past like 2099 and Scarlet are two of my favourites and were lackluster in my opinion. While I could enhance them with spare parts etc., as others have said, DST could probably do a better job and getting the necessary duped can cost extra. I agree we need to see more characters, but I feel an enhanced/better portrayal of Scarlet means the same to fans like myself as getting other fan favourites.
  3. This is the one you're thinking of... Close, very close. They used that costume/something very similar in a what if comic a few years ago. Anyway, personally I like Spidey variants. There are a number of great costumes that I feel have still to be made as minimates (including the one above) or re-made. As long as it's not another bloody variant of the classic red and blue I'm happy. I'm also a fan of slip on masks. I like being able to pose Spider-Man unmasked if I want. Granted it does make the head bulky but I tend to have mine un-masked and holding the mask. However, I'm surprised DST haven't re-used the mask from Unmasked Black-Suited Spider-Man. That mask was very thin and didn't add the bulk the others have. Though I'm surprised we have to wait until next summer to get this minimate. When I initially read it, I was under the impression this was going to be part of TRU Wave 13 (presuming that one comes out before the end of this year/early next year).
  4. As a fan of the excellent Captain Britain and MI13 I may get this for Blade and Dracula. Couldn't care less for Wolv and Jubilee though, but in the past I've ended up spending as much as the boxset, if not more trying to get just one/two/three of the figs, so I may buy this as it is when I have some spare cash.
  5. Despite my initial pesimism, I am getting about half or so of the new 52. While I may prefer to see the return of Ted Kord or a continuation of Booster Gold, I am getting both the Jamie Blue Beetle and JLI (though do we really need Batman on it...? How about his British equivalent Knight if we need a Batman-esk character so badly?) JSA is coming back, but as part of Earth 2. Call me Peter Personally I just see this as Heroes Reborn DC style. I'm all for seeing some interesting re-shaking to the history of some characters, but I do dislike the "keep some ideas, drop others". Case in point, I consider "Death of Superman" to be one of my favourite stories, along with the various characters it introduced (especally Cyborg Supes and Doomsday; I like the villains who can match Supes in physical strength or abilities), while I also enjoyed both "Last Son" for the "Lois and Clark" adopt a son angle (offering some great emotional attachment) and the death of Jonathan Kent in Brainiac. However now all bar the Green Latern (yay!) and Batman (boo!) storylines have been scrapped I doubt any of them will make it through (certainly not the Brainiac one as the Kents died before Clark went to Metropolise). Granted I am keen to see how a "more alien-like" Clark works but I always felt he was fine and relatable without aspects like that. Booster's in the new Justice League International book. Yep which is why I'm looking forward to it (that and I loved the JLI Brightest Day storyline). However Booster was a great series which ended with a large number of unanswered questions including if Booster ever learns Rip is his son, whom is Rip's mother, what ever happened to Rani the girl Booster saved and adopted from the future (missing girl posters were seen in the last few issues), whatever happened to Black Beetle after his power up and who did the "Bwa ha ha ha ha ha" laugh early on in the series. So what if people like the guy or not? People like Wally (potentially more so than Barry) but that didn't stop Johns bringing back Barry and Wally vanishing off the face of DCnU. If they listened to fans a) I doubt they'd be doing this in the first place and Wally (and Danna if she's also AWOL though I don't know much about her fanbase) wouldn't be MIA.
  6. The owner of my LCS said there is apparently a character featuring in all 52 comics that will ultimatly tie into the 2012 event. I can't help but wonder if this may be a storyline to snap back to the old DCU (either as a backup plan or because this will never stick). ***Warning - the following is a potentially anti-Batman rant*** From what I read of JL #1, I liked it br the bit where Batman pulled the GL ring off Hal. I hope this isn't another incidence of "God Batman" because I hate the way writers over power him; it's making him more invincible than Superman (whom I prefer anyway) and making me sick of the dark knight in general. It also doesn't help that two of my favourite series (Booster Gold and Secret Six) were cancelled and no sign of continuing in DCnU, while Batman has nine books. I'm far more interested in seeing the un-answered Booster questions answered than I am nearly a fifth of the new books dedicated to a "family" I have no interest in. I appreciate that there is no reason for them to stick to fifty two books and they may yet surprise me with a contiunation of Booster's story, but... I'd have also liked to see the long over due return of Ted Kord (or as I like to call him "Batman with a sense of humour, i.e. an interesting human level superhero". Nothing against Jamie but I want to see more adventures of the Gold and Blue. Heck, make Ted a mentor for Jamie instead of replacing him.
  7. One thought that crossed my mind - will we get more variants of the original characters? The first Ryu we get is his SF1 DLC look, despite the design sheet showing his more recogniseable "matured" look. Including the DLC characters there are thirty eight characters in total and presuming all of them get made (they have said one or two may not be but that was back when the line was first announced), we'd effectively have an un-even thirty nine. Does this mean "mature Ryu" has been over looked in favour of SF1 Ryu or will we maybe get another version of one of the Marvel characters, either as their DLC costume or maybe an alternative pallet (preferbly one that references another character)?
  8. Alright. I may take the shoulder pads off the second one to make him look a bit different. Bar being a British team (and thus uber awesome ), my main reason for getting the Excalibur set was updated Nightcrawer. While he is my favourite member of the X-Men, having two identical Nightcrawlers in my collection is a bit frustrating. I guess it wouldn't be too bad if he came with some swords (like how the TRU Tony Stark Iron Man came with a spare set of hands and feed).
  9. So it is a straight up re-pack? In that case I completly agree (even though this was probably decided long before DST caught wind of that direction). Maybe it's time I finally dip my toe into the decal side of customising...
  10. I've had to hold off for now due to lack of funding Anyway as a Booster Gold fan I look forward to seeing where this goes. Will you follow more of the direction taken in the now sadly cancelled (CURSE YOU DCNU! Did we REALLY need about 20 Bat books and none to focus on the far more interesting developments and un-answered questions in the BG series?! Booster > Batman!) 07 - 11 series or the more commonly known glory hog angle?
  11. I second this! Although, with the chainsaw that the zombie surgeon comes with... Both sets look alright and I may get them if I see them cheap enough. However at the moment I need to direct my minimate funds elsewhere...
  12. Last I checked the only classic Resident Evil costume we've gotten is for Chris. I know there's a "Femme Fatal" pre-order bonus pac for UMvC3 but I'm not sure if Jill is in there. [edit] A list of all alternative cosutmes, colours and colour (official...?) suggestions can be found here: http://marvelvscapcom.wikia.com/wiki/Alternate_Costumes
  13. As a SF fan (especally of the non-SF2 games) I'm really digging SF1 Ryu . Sentinal looks good IMO; he's different from the army builder version which justifies him reappearing. Spencer also looks good and I agree with others about the lack of UMvC3; as well as the extra characters (Strider and Rocket Raccoon ) they're also doing some great DLC/pre-order bonus costumes like "Civilian" Morrigan and classic Strider a well as a Future Foundation pallet for Doom. Seeing as how Ryu's DLC SF1 costume got added I think it would be great if AA keep up this trend.
  14. Upon their initial release I managed to miss out on both Classic Heroic Age Thor and Special Opps MAX set. The former because he came with three characters I did not want re-hases of (costume variants are one thing, dupes (especally of the red and blue Spidey costume; re-hasses of that is turning me against it!) are another), the latter because I didn't get interested in MAX until it was a bit too late. Last night I was recently outbidded on the two I mentioned above. I was surprised by how much the Thor minimate went for in the end, as my max bid seemed ridiculous for a single minimate but I was sure it would guarantee I got him (to put it another way, it would have been cheaper if I bought the original set he came in AND with shipping to the UK). I didn't quite go that high for the other set due to me being a bit short on funds at the moment but still. After the initial frustration on missing out on mini figs I was sure I was going to get, it got me thinking about others who may have been invovled in epic bidding wars and how far they have gone in the heat of an auction and ultimatly how much they have spent. When the Bullseye/Moonstone TRU exclusive initially came out, I ended up winning it at $40, not counting shipping. A little over a year later I found and bought a loose version of Bullseye for my parts box at around $8. So please, tell me some of your similar stories on auctions you have either won only to realise after how much you spent, or auctions where you walked away after it going past a stupidly high price.
  15. Ugh! Damn you TRU exclusive minimates! So many come out at the same time, my wallet is struggling to keep up!
  16. I'm currently building on a custom Ash Williams fig, with the intention of expanding it once I am done. My inention is to modify the chainsaw arm so it looks more like this one: But for the life of me I'm not sure of the official names for the red holding piece and the three black pieces. Can someone please either point me in the direction of a shop where I can buy them from (I have a place bookmarked before but my computer went kaput and I lost it) or let me know what these bricks are "officially" called so I can try and pinpoint them on eBay. Admins/Mods - feel free to change this into a generic "Brick Hunting/Help me with my Custom" thread.
  17. I would love to see shrunken down versions of Wasp and Ant-Man. If DST should ever decide to make another Hawkeye, I'd love to see this accessory minimated: One of Hawkeye's super moves in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 uses Ant-man. If they those characters make it into the MvC3 line and considering Iron Man has the Proton Cannon... [edit]karamazov80 beat me to it
  18. Last (?) two free DLC costumes have been announced: Retro style Cyber Sub-Zero and Unmasked/MK3 style Sub Zero. Personally I like both. I know Retro CSZ never appeared in the original game (like MK1 Ermac) but I've been hoping for this since the classic Cyrax and Sektor costumes were announced. Now all we need is Cyber Smoke as a DLC character with a classic skin and we'd have four variants on the classic cyber costume. If more free DLC costumes appear, I hope this opens the door for more "what if reto costumes", i.e. MK1 style Noob, Smoke (both of which do exist on the disc as hidden fights) and Rain, and MK2 and 3 style costumes for Skarlet (and Tanya if she ever appears). I just like the "what if" angle this has.
  19. I agree with you, but only if you add in "Updated Nova, Rocket Raccoon and Strider, as well as alts like "Civilian Morrigan" (white shirt that's open, red pants)". As mentioned, since watching Joe's opinion my interest in this game has plumetted. I thought we were getting something like SSF4 (i.e. loads of extras that would be impratical as DLC) instead of previously planned DLC on a disc. Now I may still buy it if they add on extras that are worth the money (and, as stated, impratical as DLC) but otherwise Arcade Edition, MK9 and SF3 TSOE will get the lions share of my (limited) fighting game time.
  20. Angry Joe, a web reviewer I'm a fan of has given his opinion of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2011/08/umvc3-angry-rant/ As his screen name will suggest he does get VERY angry and his opinion of the more obscure characters (i.e. Nova and Rocket Raccoon, the two Marvel characters I'm most excited about) may borderline offend fans of them but IMO his point is very valid. He even highlighted that while SSFIV was a valid update due to all the new content it added, this is basically twelve characters, the majority of whom are perhaps too obscure/not the ones fans want bundled with content that was already confirmed for (free?) DLC. Since watching it, my opinion has changed a little.
  21. As a fan of the cosmic side, I loved this storyline. Seeing the Cancer version of the Defenders really made my day. Amazing job on the customs Luke.
  22. I second what Master Nick has said. I can understand that they are limited in what they can do with the licence (only so many Universal movies) and they want to release them in time for Halloween, but considering as how it could well be 2012 before we get all of them, and most if not all were shown at the 2010 Toy Fair (i.e. 18 months ago). Like Master Nick said, it could well kill the line if we have to wait so long.
  23. The problem with a response like that is that it's a pretty relative answer. For me, the 'best box set ever' would be either a Classic Brotherhood set (Quicksilver, Toad, Mastermind & Scarlet Witch) or Freedom Force (Destiny, Blob, Pyro, Avalanche). But - i know that half the boardies here would rather see a Wrecking Crew set. AFX has been responsible for the Stormbreaker, Age of Apocalypse #1, New Mutants, X-Force, X-Factor, FA X-Men, Thunderbolts, Champions, IM2 Battle Tactics, IM Hostile Takeover, IM TTA, & Civil War sets. So, they seem to love IronMan & Mutants ... hey, maybe i'll get my wish after all? If they're responsible for the two IM movie boxsets, maybe they'll do a Movie Thor boxset, i.e. "Sorry about the mix up. Here's the other two members of the Warriors Three and Heimdel". Personally if AFX want to wow someone like me, then it should be less Iron Man and Mutant and more Cosmic/Mystical . Modern Guardians of the Galaxy (Kang stared in that comic) would go down much better than generic X-Men boxset #2672.
  24. Awesome job on the Ash custom. I've been thinking recently on how best to do one.
