  1. Hey gang, been silently observing for a while.. but thought i would chime in... Iron Man the movie ROCKED HARD! I loved it. I am a moderate Iron Man fan and I was a bit disappointed in the animated film they put out a little while back but every since seeing the Mark I suit at SDCC last summer i have had a good feeling about this flick. As others have stated the acting and character development is as good as any hero show out there. Just solid. And for a superhero movie they did a pretty good job of blurring the line between reality and the fantastic.. you start to believe that this technical genius could develop a suit that lets him be a super hero. Favorite parts of movie: anything with Tony using the final suit. 2nd favorite parts: all the hints at the bigger Marvel Universe. I also have seen talks about: As I have said many times in the last few years... Now Is A Great Time To Be A Super Hero Fan!! -The Vox
  2. I know not everyone was a C3 fan, but I love "legos" and I loved having 'building block' sets for minimates!! I know there were some problems with the Batcave and maybe they were in over their heads with that one.. but dudes and dudettes, my love for C3 has been made anew!! Batcopter: always over priced on ebay.. finally got the deal i was holding out for and i loved putting this together! My nephew and niece helped me (sadly they kept asking where they can get one). The copter is solid and i love the look of it. Since i've been getting more into the THE BATMAN animated series (right about the time the other Justice Leagures showed up) I am loving the look of it. Stealth Batwing: Grabbed 2 of these for a great price.. I never realized that this set comes with an extra Bruce Wayne based on the Bruce Wayne from The Batman series. Black jacket and blue shirt with a little smurk on his face. Just awesome!! Anyway, these were the last 2 C3 items to complete my set and since there has only been sad news surrounding DC Minis lately, I thought I would make a post of how much fun it was to build a couple old C3 sets. Now i just wish i would have bought a few more javelins before they went to crazy prices on ebay.. haha -The Vox (still in mourning over the loss of the DC line... Kyle, Black Canary, The Atom... et al)
  3. Kyle and Alan Scott need to be done in the next couple waves. After that I would be happy to see Hal-Parallax, Jade, Kyle-Original-Ion, Kyle Dog-Collar, G'nort and whatever else they are willing to send.
  4. Got hosed here too. My LCS old me no one was getting them until next week.. oh well, i've waited this long.. i can wait another 6 days. My Impressions: Those Hawks look fantastic! So happy that: jointed wings, 3 weapons, and hair for both.. talk about bonus!! Mary Marvel will be getting a darker look as soon as I get her and some black paint. Also thinking of going White Shazam with Sentry long hair painted white. Could be cool. Red Tornado is perfect and I love the height of his collar. 2 more members for my Green Lantern Corps!! glad to see that pic on here too. Love my GL's.. now just need Kyle. Fantastic Wave, imo gives a final chapter to the first handful of waves in a way, now on to more characters from all around the DC.
  5. Wait, there's a new lawsuit? not a new one...the same one is ongoing. as far as i know, it covers any type of incarnation of superboy...although i think they could get away with it if they called him something else, like if conner had been called "superman-as-a-teen-hero-person." check out this: http://blog.newsarama.com/2007/08/16/whats...about-superboy/ At lease Superboy can live on in my City of Heroes creation: Vox El - kind of a cross between 2 different Superboy costumes.. haha
  6. I love hearing about a wave coming early!! The only news better than that is just the news of the wave in the first place. They are doing a great job of balancing anticipation and excitement over new waves. Waves come early, Prototypes for future waves appear regularly, and the selection is outstanding.. DCD is doing it right.
  7. been waitin' a long long long ol' time beba.. Bring on the Avengers!! I should have ordered a case.. so I can get both Thor's. Fail to plan, plan to fail. Voxy
  8. Wow.. these are going for big bucks on ebay. Man I should have signed up for the Hunt.. I knew I wouldn't have time to really compete but I should have signed up anyway. At least I got an XL shirt as they were throwing them to the crowd.. I can sleep in it.
  9. The Hunt mate looks pretty cool. How many did they give out?
  10. At SDCC I asked Chuck about the Goblin Glider and he said they had created one and tried to get it approved and received a NO. He was pretty short and to the point, and I think that is how the license is.. pretty precise and to the point with very little room (or none at all) for negotiation. I felt a bit silly asking as I guess it was common knowledge for most people there but I always had wondered about whether there was a size issue that allowed Silver Surfer to have his board and Movie Goblin to have his glider.. and the response was, "we tried and they said no" followed by "we also try and find a balance so we are not packaging a huge chunk of plastic in with the figures..". Obviously these licensing contracts are pretty precise and fickle. When you think of ALL of the companies producing things that use the likeness of Marvel Characters there are bound to be companies paying big money for exclusivity on a certain size and type of figure to avoid competition and thusly we have 2" Block Figures with light accessories. I for one, don't mind. Vox p.s. Come to think of it, the MaxiMates were address at SDCC as well. To avoid license conflicts at that size they had to be without articulation and of a certain material just to be able to make them. Makes total sense to me.. With hundreds of companies creating Marvel things you would have to limit who did what to add value to your individual product.. If the toy isle had 12 different 6" Spiderman action figures by 12 different companies the market would be saturated and all the companies would suffer. (It's bad enough seeing 2 or 3 lines right now) As usual, just my 2 cents.
  11. I was the same way. The look of several characters seemed VERY off to me.. (especially Joker) but the show really is done quite well.. IMO it has to grow on you over time.. and as has been stated, there isn't much out right now to fill the void that the JLU show left behind.. so I gave it a chance. I didn't know a new Spiderman cartoon was in the mix. I'll have to look into that. Vox
  12. Hey gang, on a whim I went and read SUPERMAN RED SON after seeing his picture in the new wave.. I figured if there are multiple toy lines, a compiled printing and a universe in the multiverse dedicated to this story then there might be something to it.. Yep, it ended up being a fun read. Only 3 comics long the story is MUCH more then just what if Superman grew up in russia.. It is a fun twist on Supes, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, Fortress of Solitude, Superman "robots", Batman, Alfred, Brainiac, "Kandor", Green Lanterns: Abin Sur, Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, Gardner, Stewart and Scott, Area 51, JFK, Marylin Monroe, Joseph Stalin, the phantom zone, the history of Superman's home world, a whole slew of cameos of Superman Villains and some Global Politics. Sound like a bit much? Seriously tho it is jam packed with fun 'what ifs'. If you have an hour to kill grab the books and check it out. I went from "hmm interesting Alt.Supes Mini" to "Sweet, I am looking forward to that minimate!!". Warning: reading the recap in a wiki really spoils the twists and turns of the story so just read the real thing. Anywho.. just my two cents. Good call DCD.. now how about Hal Jordan and Batman from Red Son? Vox
  13. (let me preface this with a: Duh, the door was never closed on random DC characters) For a while I was thinking DC was going ALL classic Golden and Silver age characters with their waves and I was totally stoked because IMO they are the most iconic versions of most characters.. plus we have been re-introduced to oldies like Ma Hunkle and others.. which has been fun to learn about. Of course as I looked at the waves I realized characters like OMAC are pretty modern and seem to be sprinkled in here and there.. Then with the announcement of wave 8 we see two characters that were really introduced (in this form) within the past year.. making them a very modern version of their two respective characters. Tho I'm not a huge fan of either character, I did read 52 and enjoyed the parts they played in it.. This made me think, "Well heck, why not Supernova?". He was an interesting character that had many speculating as to his identity and he looks great in action figure form in the latest 52 Action Figure series... and I think he would look AWESOME as a minimate!!!! I guess to make a long post short, I am just really pleased with how the DCD Minimates seem to have NO LIMITS as to what characters they pull from for the line. More and more and more they are surprising me and showing that ANYONE is possible. For those of you not familiar with Supernova.. Not sure how to link the actual photo. Some help? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supernova_%28comics%29 Vox
  14. ya.. seeing the prototypes from DCD got me thinking about this as a box set and I would dig it. I liked Green Arrows 'real world' superhero look.. and if they gave cyborg his red eye and port in his arm.. along with the silver costume he wore then thats a nice real world look for him too.. who knows if they would translate well to mini form. The Smallville episode titled: Justice wasn't perfect but in my opinion it is the best live action version of the Justice League ever made. I look forward to seeing Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter and new characters this season on Smallville.
  15. WAVE 9 My Guess: GA Green Lantern/Solomon Grundy 2.5 Black Canary/Red Arrow Wonder Girl/Superboy Darkseid/Some version of Supes What I Want Most: Kyle Rayner Alan Scott Jade The Atom (with tiny version the size of a minimate hand)
  16. Like so many I have my custom Scarlet Spidey.. My 2nd favorite Spidey costume after all Black.. (well 3rd with Classic being first) Anyway PERFECT two pack in my opinion. I hope the FYE by me gets them.
  17. 4 days at a cabin in the mountains.. I come home and check the forum and BAM! WAVE 8! I couldn't be more pleased with Sinestro.. tho I was hoping for Kyle. I'm sure he'll show up eventually. I was surprised to get two characters from 52. With all the classics we were getting I thought we would see classic Question before the current one.. and Batwoman was a shock as well.. I don't know where either of those characters are going or who they are really connected to (except the G&L community.. not that there's anything wrong with that.) So display wise I wasn't too excited on that pair. As far as Red Son.. looks like I need to read that one.. I've seen the toys and such for years based on it.. but like many of you all I know is Supes lands in Russia instead of Kansas and the story unfolds. I LOVE ALL OF THE GREEN LANTERN LOVE GOING ON FROM DC. They had me hooked with Hal showing up in Wave 1.. Big thing now is what costume will Kyle show up in? My favorite was the last one he wore as a Green Lantern.. but with selections going from Modern to Classic I would say anything could happen. Fun to come home to new minimate news (even if its a year away) Vox
  18. haha I had forgotten that they named him Boy Scout.. classic.
  19. I'm a bit embarrassed now... zip lock baggies and shoe boxes hold my collection. I've moved a couple times in the last few years so I have been hesitant to get into a big display but those tackle box stackable things may fit me just perfect.. Looks like I'll be hitting Sears soon. This forum rules. Vox
  20. I believe the next season starts around September 22.. not exactly sure on the date. The first 2 episodes are a two parter with guest star Superman. I miss the JLU animated show and this The Batman show has grown on me.. so I'm looking forward to a few justice league visitors this season.
  21. I haven't followed THE BATMAN animated show very close until noticing that at the end of season 4, Bats gets introduced to the starting of the Justice League (Hal, Barry, Carter, J'onn, etc) Very Silver Age in it's lineup. Then at the Con it was stated that these heroes will be doing several team ups in Season 5. Since these are a lot of characters that wouldn't have been focused on in the JLU side of the C3 license, it made me wish C3 was still going just for THE BATMAN show side of the license. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy DCD picked up minis and the selection has been unbelievable, I just can't help but wonder what kind of vehicles and playsets could be built with the upcoming season in mind. my 2 cents Vox
  22. I know this is way off the beaten path of what DCD is doing so far but with the Battle Star Galactica, 24, Rocky, & Back to the Future waves it got me thinking.. At the Smallville panel at the SDCC they unveiled early prototypes of action figures based on Superman, Green Arrow, Cyborg, Impulse and Aqua Man all as they appeared in the episode JUSTICE on the CW show Smallville. The costumes were a little more real life than the comics but they were still true in color and style. I know this wouldn't happen with the current DCD line but it made me think that this would be a cool Minimate 5-Pack. I don't know if there are any Smallville fans here but I thought I would throw it out for discussion. Vox
  23. The SDCC would have been a great place to reveal Wave 8 if it's all done. Is there any other big Toy convention coming up?
  24. I hate to be a bother.. but does anyone have concrete dates for the upcoming MARVEL waves? I can't remember seeing so many waves with such fluid release dates. I don't mean to sound ungrateful at all.. I just like to plan ahead on release dates with $$$ and such. I know DST wouldn't give any solid dates on the next wave.. and I wasn't the lucky guy that won the complete AVENGERS wave at the panel discussion... so any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks crew. Cheers, Vox
  25. With wave 9 being worked on now.. I wonder if we'll be getting a sneak peek at Wave 8 within the next few months...
