  1. $10 for a basic set is too much. Even $9 as a standard price will slow me from complete collecting.
  2. Iron Man 1 Movie Minimate - That one just blew me away and is still a favorite to display. It is cool to see how many of us have fond memories of certain mates because of the story tied to finding them or a lengthy time of waiting for them. I love Iceman, Spidey & Firestar for the Spidey Amazing Friends angle.. and I loved Deadpool and Gambit for finally being made. I think a shorter list would be "Which minis are your worst".. because I have something to love about almost every one I own. Vox
  3. And they ALWAYS end up on clearance in my area. The smaller "Aerial Attack" have some nice "Stark" printed pieces, but are also overpriced if that is all you want from them. On the Hall of Armor set, that big plastic head piece would have to go. Anyone know if it is easily detachable from the base? My wife surprised me with this set last night. The big plastic head piece is only attached by flat building block pieces so it is not necessary at all. The armor display sections are very close to perfect size.. minimal adjustments should make it perfect. It does come with a few Stark Stickers and lots of tools that will add nicely to any Iron Man display. Price was high but I was spoiled with it.. so no complaints here. The little fire blasts that shoot from the feet and hands are interesting.. the hands fire pieces are too big for minis and the feet pieces are a little too deep but can be easily filed to fit. WARNING: If you have not used Megabloks before, be warned that they are not the quality of some other block sets.. you may have problems getting certain brinks to stay together.. I use a handful of black legos to strengthen this set for display. Next step is to get some additional bricks and build two more levels of display.. I may continue the theme and put minimate pictures as the backdrop to the other suit holding sections.. Those IM2 mates can not get here fast enough! happy to wait for the best movie line out there. ANYONE KNOW WHEN THIS SET IS HITTING STORES? Vox
  4. I was at a K-Mart yesterday checking their clearance stuff and I found a megablocks Iron Man 2 Hall of Armor set in their regular section that I thought you all would like: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3933179 It looks like a great foundation for showing old and new Iron Man movie minimates. The spacing for the foot holds looks perfect and there is a background picture of 4 different suits (all made or being made as minis). Also, this would be easily built upon to add a second and third level of suits. I'm all over this for a minimate display. -Vox
  5. I went and found the new trailer last night.. the mini based on the Mark V is brilliant! It is a cool idea for a more portable Iron Man armor and the minimate does it justice. I agree that certain movie licenses like X-Men/Wolverine don't translate quite as well to minimate form.. My favorite minimates have color and costume and (more recently) armor, masks, gloves, etc. Minis like Movie Silverfox have to be explained when on display.. Iron Man Moviemates do not. Spiderman movie mates were ok for the most part but had some clunkers that didn't sell.. overall Iron Man Movie Minimates are by far my favorite movie line. The miniature armors are so detailed and tiny that even non-minimate fans appreciate them. I get comments all the time on my Iron Man 1 movie mate blasting off of my desk at work. I love the funky look of the Mark V.. it will probably be my new favorite for a month or so until more minimates are released.. ha ha ha Vox
  6. do you know the name of the megablocks set that the glider came in?
  7. Hey Karamazov.. was the angry faced Stay Puft Bank a Comic Con Exclusive?
  8. Mark V looks sweet to me.. Though... I have liked every single Iron Man minimate made so maybe my opinion is not worth as much. Can't wait for this flick (and it's minis)! -V
  9. Cool news.. congrats to all of you that jumped on your orders.. I wonder if this means that LCS's will be getting both at the same time next wednesday....
  10. Does the Stay Puft bank look good on display with the minimates? I have been looking at the Imagnext firehouse set and thinking it would be fun to slap a ghostbuster sticker on it and set up the boys inside with Staypuft looking in through the window. Has anyone set up a display with the coin bank stay puft yet? Thanks, Vox
  11. I would think it would be a good idea to get this wave out sooner as opposed to later.. even though the movie is in May, the Iron Man 2 action figure and other toy lines are going full force. I know for collectors it is best for no one to know about these lines.. but for the future of the line I would be happy to see it catch some of the movie hype and pull the line a bit more towards mainstream. Either way, I am fine waiting a bit longer.. I do hope they hit shelves before the movie is out just so it does as well as possible. Gotta get me some IM2 movie mates!!
  12. Any news? I'm looking forward to setting up some Danger Room training poses with the Sentinals.. Have a great weekend everyone!
  13. So does it look like this wednesday is the day? Or is there a real delay out there?
  14. I want 4 or 5 Sentinals.. but I have no problem taking Iron Man movie mates first.. just bring on the mates!
  15. Nothing showed up here either. What are the odds for next week?
  16. Imaginext Green Lantern jet is a decent fit.. you can put two minis inside (as if Hal was carrying his JLA friends through space). Batman Brave and Bold Minifigs(real name?) the batmobile for the little figures works well for Minimates.. it works better than the figures that come with it since they can't bend.. weird toy line. Can I say that i miss DC Minis?
  17. Batcopter price drop on ebay. I ran some random searches out of curiosity a few weeks back and pulled a C3 Batcopter for $6.. of course shipping was $20.. so I nabbed it for $26. Kind of funny looking back to this post seeing that I paid more than double that a few years back. I can now tuck this one away until my boy is big enough for legos of this size and add it to a birthday surprise. i still love these old sets.. I would have been happy if C3 hung on for about 2 more years. In a side note: Imaginext Green Lantern comes with a jet that looks pretty good displayed with minimate GL's. In my mind it is a jet he creates to pull his Super Friends through space with him. Pretty cheap at Fisher Price.com or at Wal-Mart/Target. DC minis will never die for me.. still some of my favorite displays next to Iron Man hall of Armor and the box of a thousand spidermen.
  18. Catwoman's belt works well too (as seen in my avatar).
  19. Been out of the loop a few days.. Huge news at Toy Fair!! Lots of fun stuff.. I'll have to take some time tonight and scroll all of the pictures more carefully. Wouldn't it be crazy if minimates evolve into a household name?!?! It would be crazy to jump 10 years ahead and see minimates on par with Lego or Playmobile with their pirates and fire-fighters sets. I know that is a long shot.. but just a funny thought.
  20. I think they have done a good job of marketing it to both.. I know it drives my sister crazy when her kids take apart the minis and loose all the peices and then ask her to find them. If it were a solid kids toy they would have made them so you couldn't pull them apart.. they would be more like Imaginext or Lego.. either no break apart peices or only 3.. as opposed to 9+. For me though.. they are collectibles and I keep a seperate set for the kids to play with.. my boy is still a couple years away from being able to play with them safely.
  21. I have to say Gambit and Deadpool were perfect for me. Iron Man I Movie red and gold is one of the most perfect minis I have ever held. Variant War Machine was perfect as well. Spiderman and his amazing friends (Ice Man & Firestar) the more I think about it.. the more I really like about 75% of my collection.. it's hard to think of many that really need a redo in my eyes.
  22. I don't see a huge need. The biggest change in the new releases is more detailed armors and cuffs and accessories. FF just have skin tight body suits and that has been covered quite nice imho. Mole Man would be nice.
  23. My blue costume angel has Variant printed on the box.. my silver age jump suit angel did not. Weird they had two silver age on the shelf and my variant pulled for my order.. I wish I would have known the silver age was more rare I would have grabbed two. No Goliath for me.
  24. Great pictures!! Thanks for posting! I usually get a voicemail from my LCS the night before minis are in (nothing last night).. I am hoping he has stopped doing this since I am in every week for Blackest Night stuff and maybe I will have minis on hold for me today!! Fingers crossed.. I have been waiting a long time to have Captain America take on Captain Britain on my minimate shelf and see what happens.
  25. Nice to have a big clear picture.. beauty of a mate. Any word on when the official release of the entire wave picture will be? I pulled out my old Iron Man 1 movie mates.. still some of my favorite mates of all time. I hope the final products for the 2nd flick look that good!!
