  1. Great work, Luke! Grundy is my favorite of the new batch, with Firestorm a close second. All he's missing are the shoulderpads, but that is an ingenious way to do the helmet [and one I will proceed to steal!]
  2. Especially not here. I for one could use an extra Vault Guard or two. [hint hint] For the army builders with two notably different configurations I've toyed with the idea of getting three copies, one to be in config A flanked by two in config B [sentinels, Vault Guards]. The ones with only one setup -- Kree Warrior, Ult SHIELD Agent, AIM Agent -- I just leave as is . The Skrull is a slightly different case, as the wave 28 ones can flank Super Skrull. Multiple Man, too, is essentially two different looks for the character, so I'll display him as that and not bother to army-build him. I wouldn't be opposed to a box set of 4 army builders, because that way people who want to do that sort of thing can just buy those up while people who aren't really interested don't need to get them. I think the "army builder with variantable figure" is a good idea too though.
  3. I remembe reading this page about that Lockjaw debacle before, and getting really confused. Save us, Miry!
  4. This was exciting and all [and boy, I can't wait til these show up!], but I'm still ind of on tenterhooks for what they've got planned for SDCC, if anything. There's a lot of stuff coming out then that I'll be after and I'm gonna have to budget like mad.
  5. C3 Nightwing was the first. I remember thinking, "now to finda Robin and a Batman and I'm done." Several Minimates later. it was a pretty cool day when I picked up a full DCD wave 7 set with the new Nightwing in it, exactly a year from when I'd bought C3 Nightwing. Marvel Wave 3 Logan and Storm are also both of high importance to me, as they were given to me early on in the hobby by two very important people.
  6. Now that I think about it some more... is it possible maybe to quick-custom this look using these guys? First thing I thought about while seeing the movie [although I had a Sea Assault Drone in mind]. When I talked to my brother about it afterwards it was also one of the things I brought up, and he was like "dude, were you able to actually watch the fight?"
  7. I'm kind of mixed about this set -- while I'm all sorts of happy about the Hulkbuster armor, I wish they'd done another Hulk instead of a Powerhouse Gamma Hulk, which to me is one of the less useful Hulks you could do. Planet Hulk? Gray Hulk redo? Joe Fixit? Maestro? Marvel vs Capcom Hulk ["Smart?"]? Oh well. I'm just glad I don't need to waffle on getting a Hulkbuster custom done anymore. Also, much "yay" for Lockjaw! Much "huh?" for Betsy Braddock [especially packed with Lockjaw -- one would've imagined Medusa or Crystal or someone], but she looks great and another X-character is always welcome.
  8. that's odd. you'd think they want to strike while the... ahem... Iron is hot.
  9. I'd be fine with this as a Heroic Age set, with the new Steve Rogers instead of Bucky-Cap and a redone Astonishing X-Men Wolverine. Not sure what they can do to make Thor more different from his wave 33 version though. I'd also like a Young Allies box set eventually. Or whatever gets me a Rikki Barnes and AraƱa.
  10. Yeah, I dunno about the database listings or whatever, so I won't challenge your point on that. I was referring to including him in a Spidey Through The Ages set which would -- outwardly, to the non-core-comic-base consumer these could be targeted to reach out to -- be more about Spidey costumes through the ages rather than people who have been Spidey.
  11. for most of the general non-comic-reading masses, it's ultimately a costume variation first and a character second. upon reflection, instead of a Through the Ages set, I wouldn't mind an annual or semiannual Spidey Friends and Foes 4-pack [with better QC, of course]. Gives endless Spidey variations a place to be, mostly out of the main waves -- and provides outlets for the many Spidey villains [and/or villain redos], not to mention Spidey supporting cast members.
  12. Bro, the iron lantern is brilliant in its simplicity. can't believe i never thought of that! kudos!
  13. Yup, that's actually the main distinguishing feature I saw on him.
  14. ^ you know, at first i misheard that line as "Drawn better" because of the accent. Well, they're not particularly stellar ones [at least the ones I've suggested are minor tweaks to existing versions], but they're a bit better than just getting the Mark I all over again or another Tony-in-a-suit [THAT one is redeemed solely by his delightful sh-eating grin ].
  15. Speaking as someone who's had to hunt down and backtrack older Minimates himself, I'll just say that -- while I really don't like the idea of reissues of stuff that's already been done decently [as opposed to the occasional much-needed redo we justifiably keep asking for] -- I do not, in any way, mind harder-to-find stuff being made available again in a different way for newer fans. I don't stand to gain anything if they have as hard a time as I did [or run up as much of an expense as I might have] of getting a certain Minimate. The sentimental and personal value of my own Minimate possessions does not disappear if they get a very similar version handed to them on [by comparison] a silver platter. And the resale value of my Minimate possessions... well, I can honestly say I've never been in any of this for the resale value, so meh. If anything, like I said, I'm more easily annoyed by the potential of new characters [or "needed" retreads] that is lost when the decision is made to redo, say, US Agent or something along those lines. I wonder sometimes if he wasn't just thrown in there as filler that they knew people weren't likely to vote for. I will agree with NR and punisher though -- Invaders Cap's somewhat "off" use of teal instead of a direct blue has also kept me from using him as a definitive modern Cap [he's mainly around to rock the classic shield and mask, the latter of which doesn't match any other Cap bodies I have]. And NR, I have noticed that about the NA Cap too -- that might be one of the reasons it's my favorite.
  16. FWIW I haven't either. The doc must be busy. Excited to hear bout them stands! ... and wow, glow in the dark!
  17. Yes please. for the cool. also, although I dunno how they'd ever pull it off, I want a movie JARVIS accessory. Bunch of wireframe thingamajiggers to carry around.
  18. I just hope they don't do it MkVI/Drone and Rhodes/Drone. I don't really need any more drones, unless it's . Then again, they did put all the other two-pack partners side by side.
  19. I'd wager we're getting the Suspended Animation, Armored, Rebirth and a random one from what's left. The first two are the only real new-parts ones [with a big impact for what minimal new parts will be needed] and the last one's a representation of the whole reason this set is being made. Out of the ones that are left to pick from I'd probably opt for a Civil War Cap, since USAgent is already done in pretty much that exact look and there's not enough about the WW2 Cap that interests me. For Suspended Animation Cap I may put an Iceman in the ice block instead Either way, between Wolverine and Cap, these "through the ages" sets really haven't measured up to the Iron Man one. I would've vastly preferred a current Steve Rogers costume or those Secret War duds.
  20. Sorry for continuing the OT-ness, but... I can think of at least one two-pack of mates they haven't done yet... a clean Mark VI and a . Then for civilians they can do a military uniform James Rhodes, or a . And hey, a Whiplash in orange instead of brown, although that's almost one Whiplash too many. Give him his pineapple hairdo! Wouldn't mind a mid-suiting-up Mark V either, to be honest, with the open/mid-transform suitcase. What I'm really interested in hearing about, though, is their plans for SDCC.
  21. Finally picked this set up today [i'd gotten 33 and the Iron Man 2 Army Builder dump from them earlier in the week]. Vulture stays as is. No problems with the two-tone green. Doc Ock... I have no idea how I got him to work but I did. Shaved down the peg holes a bit, and that seems to have done the trick. It was a bear plugging the pegs into them though; time will tell if the damn things stay there. Spidey's going to stay as is, although I gave his web shooter to Scarlet Spider. The weblines go into the parts bin. I'll gladly buy another Battle-Ravaged Spidey just for the webshooter if you guys don't particularly want him]. Black Cat... I gave her fur collar to wave 10 Black Cat for now. I'll try and get a wave 10 Black Cat torso for this if I can find one so I can have a Black Cat with sculpted forearm and leg fur deco.
  22. I found out in the middle of cutting the center peg off that the two armrests pop off after working them a bit and loosening the glue on them. This frees you up to cut the center peg off more cleanly without nicking the armrests. Cutting it off leaves a hole in the flat "waist" surface; from here you can do either of the punisher's suggestions [2 is work intensive if you don't have the right cutting tools but it does give him better arm movement]. An optional next step is to carefully pop off the waist/blanket/leg rest portion and break/cut off the beams and whatnot inside, to allow you to fit an entire Minimate hip/crotchpiece in the space under the waist/blanket/leg rest panel. You can thread the waist peg through the hole, and peg it into a torso piece.
  23. Little late to the party, but I am kind of weirded out that Yellowjacket's nose shading seems to be on his forehead. In fact, looking at the boxart, it seems that the entire detailing layout for his mask has moved up.
