  1. Did I seriously just read a post that contained a wave suggesting stegron in the same sentence as the word realist?!
  2. Really appreciate the chance of a fan choice like this! As one or two others have said I really hope we take the chance to get a new character here and hopefully one that's pretty comic accurate. I've not been watching these shows so not sure who fits the bill exactly but until we get an official poll to vote in I'll put my vote to man-thing as well, though uatu and hyperion would also be welcome.
  3. I'm right there with you too guys - again on both counts!
  4. While not perfect for my tastes this is one of the best waves in quite some time. Disco dazzler is actually the one xmen character high on my wishlist so I for one am delighted she's in there. It's almost like a new character since that look is totally different to her other release. Nice to see some service given to classic fans, and also good to see the female thor. Definitely an improvement on recent waves for me!
  5. Believe me I'm 100% with you there Valo. I've been casting jealous eyes at the Marvel Legends character diversity for a while. I'm just having to reluctantly accept that the minimate line isn't going to give me hellcat, thundra, tigershark etc. Once upon a time I thought it would in due course but clearly times have changed. I am amazed that so many people still seem to want yet more versions of the heavy hitters with tiny variations as I'd have thought everybody who wants, for example, a wolverine or a movie captain America would have one by now - but clearly not!
  6. Interesting to read the clues and theories as ever, and virtually impossible to work out what is likely to happen of course! I'm 99% sure that the classic fans are the ones that Zach is referring to who may not be happy though, simply based on the general trend right now and the recent discussion in the Q & A thread. However, some of the ideas put forward sound cool, the parts included to make secret identities would be a nice variation. It struck me recently as amazing that we still don't have a don blake minimate for example yet are getting a retro cloth one. Overall I would still have said that versus or greatest battle 2 packs would be a logical and suitable way for TRU waves to go in general though in order to please most people.
  7. I'd certainly be sorry to see you go glantern. You are one of the people on here who seems to mirror my views on the current release policy and who also clamours for some classic avengers stuff.
  8. Thankful as I always am for Zach's clues, I'm having trouble getting my brain around the logistics of these sets, though that is probably just my small brain. However I'm kinda hoping that classic falcon may be one of the "HIGHLY requested costume variations".
  9. Absolutely! Mind you I take Zach's point that the percentage of old school fans is probably shrinking (and I didn't even know about atlas!) and I guess if you compare it to 11 years ago when the line started then it was that much closer to the bronze/silver age that we are largely talking about. At the end of the day you can't please all the people which I totally understand -though it would certainly be nice to feel pleased a little more often as a classic avengers fan! Still I do feel marginally encouraged by Zach's comment about a couple of upcoming characters...
  10. I'm liking all of these wave ideas, but especially the masters of evil one. However, I think the issue that's causing this debate in the first place is that DST just isn't heading in that direction any more. It feels to me that what started out as a classic comic figure wave has evolved into a primarily movie figure line with modern comic character looks as the second choice. Although that's not what I want from the line, I'm not saying it's wrong. I guess it's a matter of perspective whether you complain about the current policy for moving too far away from its roots or applaud it for moving with the times. The only thing I would say is if it is genuinely the view at DST that old school avengers fans will be satisfied because of all the movie releases and thus don't need comic stuff as well, then certainly this old school fan thinks there's a misconception somewhere.
  11. I think the comments in the last couple of posts sum up my thoughts perfectly actually. I think the key to the whole thing is "classic comic avengers" and that is what has been lacking for a long time. However, if that's what DST chooses then that is their prerogative. Now to start wish listing for wave 64...
  12. Yes I am pretty dismayed to be honest that DST thinks that the avengers "need" in the line is being met by all the constant movie stuff of mostly the same old characters, rather than using the avengers' current popularity to give us some new classic comic characters. I guess it explains why the line's appeal has waned for me in the last couple of years, but it's interesting to hear that others were less than happy with that answer too. I would say I guess it explains why we get so much xmen stuff when we do get comic stuff but then we've had quite a bit of movie xmen/wolverine stuff too...
  13. Not sure what to say about this creatively from the actual comic point of view but if DST actually took this chance to do a box set or wave that incudes Medusa, Disco Dazzler and (a very long shot!) Moondragon then that is one modern set I could really get behind!
  14. I totally agree though I think there is much more chance of getting the FA one paired with a spiderman in a "team up" kind of pack, or better still with an arcade!
  15. That would also work for me Valo but it still involves DST risking a whole wave on a character they may not see as marketable. But yeah, 4 versions of (almost!) any character including villains and other cool unmade characters would be great.
  16. Ok, having read this recent ghost rider chat, I'm just gonna throw something out there as someone who's not a big fan of gr but who would love the old western version. It seems to me that some of the characters being talked about for a possible TTA set would struggle to hold down enough popularity for a 4 figure box set of them, of which gr is a prime example. So, I wonder if DST would ever consider doing a kind of "TTA wave" but with 4 2 packs of say classic and modern versions of the same character? That way some of the less marketable characters being talked about may have a bit more chance and it would be less of a sales risk. For example you could have old west and modern ghost rider, classic and female thor, west coast avengers and modern mockingbird (surely gotta happen sometime?!) and just to please the xfans and DST a weapon x wolverine and any other version you care to name (though personally if we have to include more xmen I'd go disco and modern dazzler). I'm sure it'll never happen but just struck me as a possible compromise variation on the TTA theme that might get a few characters included who would never realistically get their own full TTA set?
  17. Sounds perfect - why don't you see if there's a vacancy at DST lol.
  18. Ditto all of that!! Comic Thor is criminally overdue for some minimate love in my opinion. Nothing has been added to his allies/enemies roster in years now - I'd have thought an enchantress and some members of the warriors 3 at the very least would be pretty popular, plus a classic odin would be great!
  19. Yeah, I totally agree glantern, but I guess that comes back to what you said earlier about the current target audience. Classic avengers are at the top of my wants list too (especially the '70s ones that Zach didn't mention like mantis, swordsman, hellcat, moondragon etc) along with classic thor, inhumans, gotg and unmade spidey villains and for a long time DST really hit the mark for me. However, my wishlist has hardly had anything knocked off it since wave 50 and the strange tales boxset, and I've accepted over the last couple of years that the policy has moved more towards movies and modern looks - along with a good sprinkling of xmen lol. Clearly that must be the stuff that sells so fair enough. Certainly if that's what keeps the line going then it's worth it (and I've reluctantly accepted that DST are there to make a profit rather than be my personal minimate manufacturers!) though it would be nice to see a higher proportion of new classic characters mixed in, especially in specialty waves which seem to be the only area that's possible now. Having said all that, I emphasise again, that the quality of this wave, as with all recent releases looks great and I also fully understand that it's impossible to please everybody.
  20. Absolutely! I would much rather see a thor friends and foes set too - enchantress and the warriors 3 are also glaring omissions in minimate form in my opinion. I'm just saying that the TTA would work in this case.
  21. I'm pretty much with glantern on this one. I don't feel like people like myself who want to see new (and sometimes non-xmen related!) classic characters made are the target audience any more. It may help if I'd read axis of course though lol. However, I do understand that you have to make the stuff that you see as marketable Zach and I am glad that so many people like this wave and they do look great figures. The hobgoblin looks a superb update and is by far the star of the wave for me.
  22. Not really a massive fan of TTA sets tbh, I much prefer the "friends and foes" type of box set as that gives more chance of fleshing out the supporting cast/villains of the major characters. However, and I know I may be biased as a thor fan lol, he seems to be the obvious choice to me. It's all pretty much laid out after his run in the last couple of years with young thor, current (or classic) thor, old thor, female thor and a frog thor as a small accessory!
  23. Yeah I'm feeling a touch of "deja vu" on much of this wave (as I do with many movie waves tbh) but the quicksilver/scarlet witch look good from the TRU assortment. I hope the ultrons look a little more imposing in real life next to the other figures than they do in the pics.
  24. Yeah, plus they are iconic classic characters who have been around for decades and medusa would be a very interesting minimate with all that hair! You would think after 11 years of comic marvel minimates that space could have been found for a box set to complete the team once DST started it...
